Web Conferencing Using JTAPI - Need help

Hi,
I have to work on "Web Conferencing" application, but i don't have any idea how this can be done in Java.
I heard that, JTAPI can be used for this purpose.
Please tell me anyone, is it possible to do Conferencing type of application using JTAPI.
If so what are the Requirements for that?
Do we need to use any specific kind of telephone devices??+
Give me some idea how to begin with this, and any source where i can get all the details about this.

Web Guy Using Swing - Need Help With jComboBox

I'm new to doing desktop Java development (come from a web application background) and am trying to accomplish migrating some of a web application's functionality to a desktop app for distribution. I'm already a bit stuck when it comes to using the jComboBox. What is intuitive to me in the web world would be to have one combo box/select box that after making a selection, it returns it's value so I could use that to run another query that would populate the next drop down menu. Populating the display of the combo box isn't the problem, that seems easy enough, but what I so far can't find is how I can attach a value to the combo box; that is for instance, having the drop down show a list of country names, and needing to have that list of country names correspond to a country code. For the web, you'd just have the option value tied to the code and the contents of the option be the name.
Is this do-able? Am I completely thinking about this in the wrong way when working in desktop GUI things? I am using NetBeans 6.0 for my GUI layout and such, don't know if that helps or hurts matters. Also currently using Java 1.5.
Any information or points in the right direction are greatly appreciated.

If I understand you correctly, you need to have a class that holds country name and country code, with a toString override method that returns just the country name (this is what the combobox shows). You then put an array of these objects in your jcombobox, obtain the selected object, get it's country code, and you're off and running.

Oracle web site - Your site needs help

I somewhat new Oracle and being a developer for years and using software vendor web sites to get things can be challenging.
However, Oracle is one of the worst web sites I have ever seen.
I am trying to download the Oracel Client (Yeah...where the heck is it??) and haven't found it for over 30 minutes.
Searching your site really stinks...it's awful!!!!!
Finding anything is like...well...you can't!
Do yourself AND especially your client(s) a favor...Make your web site easy to use...it really needs help.

I have too very really frustated by Oracle Website for several years. Just today I was trying to download the Oracle personal edition, and putting 'download' or 'oracle personal edition' in the search box, and the results are mainly white papers and tech docs. The menu option also are not really hepful, neither the site-map.
So after 30 mins, i finally got to what i was looking for. The thing is that while trying to get to the page, you get lost in the Oracle 'labyrinth' web-site and come across several interesting docs ( which i wont understand everything anyway). Its like going to the supermarket for an advertised product at $10 and you get out of the supermarket with lots of stuff at $300 you were not aiming to buy at first.
Got my point ...well, I think Oracle wants to keep its website as it is. A company like Oracle does not lack resources to develop a more modern, easy-to-use and quick web-site. Certainly, the website handles a lot of info and lays on Oracle Portal ( if am right) but am sure Oracle does not lack database /application server and expertise to make it quicker and better !!

HD video on the web? Question. Need help

We just started producing HD video. Coming from SD video. In today’s web age can’t most people in the U.S. view 720p video on the internet?
Our company produces instructional videos that get delivered to the clients by DVD but we also have moved forward to viewing online. My problem is I’m not sure how to approach my web guy about HD video over the web. I would say most of our clients have a fast connection. He is asking for all the old SD videos and me to convert them to .webm/.ogm/.mp4 so he’s doing HTML5. How does this work with HD so the client can have that as an option? He is asking for 400 kbps for our current SD videos and he gets worried when a video is like 60MB so that worries me that he doesn’t know much.
How does bitrate work with HD video? How should we provide it?

Thanks. This was my web guy's response (below). Our current videos (SD) are around 450kbps. I'm testing out exporting an H.264 720p (8 mins long) at 1.3 Mbps and the file size is only about double and looks pretty good. How should i respond? agggg
Using the HD option will eat our servers alive.
HD is typically delivered on blueray, not dvd, and your talking about 25 gigs on a blueray dvd… The web servers use more expensive hard drives to where the amount of space needed and cost would triple the hosting that we use.
With increased file size comes with increased bandwidth. Again, we use around 500-750GB a month during the busy season , if the video is 10 times the size, we will use 10 times the amount of bandwidth.
In all reality, we pay about $500 a month for our current hosting environment. If we wanted to upgrade to an environment that we can stream hd video, we’d be looking at no less than $2000-3000 a month, maybe more.

Migrating from Eclipse/Ant/MyFaces Trinidad to using JDeveloper--need help

I recently downloaded JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0. Several years ago, I used JDev to do some very simple JSP/servlet development with no formal framework. Times have changed a lot.
For the past few years, I have been developing server-side Java web apps using Eclipse JEE and Ant (ie, everything is set up so that the developer does not depend on the IDE). We currently implement web apps using Apache MyFaces Trinidad JSF components (but not Facelets). Any developer here can check out our code and simply run Ant to build the projects--no need to even have Eclipse installed. Anyone here can build and develop with a text editor and Ant, if they prefer.
I am impressed and yet overwhelmed by the robust functionality of the latest JDev--so impressive, but I feel almost a bit too removed from "seeing" what is going on in the code and deployment. I like the notion of drag-and-drop along with wizards, but I want to also know how the JDev project is set up manually; ie, where everything goes, without having to guess on this. I get the impression that I need to learn, very specifically, the framework of ADF. But unfortunately, the tutorials seem to focus on only using the wizards and drag-drop functionality.
For example, how do I set up JDev to build a project only by running Ant using my properties files and build.xml? This is trivial to do in Eclipse by specifying the Project Builder. Is there some similar setting I can use in JDev?
Is there full compatibility with Trinidad--didn't Oracle make the original Trinidad?
Has anyone posted advice on migrating from Eclipse JEE to JDev?

The basic steps for bringing your existing code into JDeveloper are:
Import->WAR File - or alternatively create a new application and in it create a new projects->project from existing source
The next couple of steps have to do with setting the project properties:
Then you need to set up your project content path (specifically things like Web content and resources content)
Then you need to add the jars/libraries in your project classpath and libraries.

Try this.
Type in the address bar about:config.
Accept the warning.
In the page that appears, in the Filter box, type network.http.max-connections. Change the value to 32 (which is probably set to 256 in your case).
Close that page. Restart the browser.

Success_URL in web.xml not working - Need help

Hi:
I developed my whole application in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and all the security are done through custom module. Everything is working fine except one of the part that is success_url in web.xml.
1. There are total 10 pages in my application independent of each other.
2. I configured the custom login procedure and it is working fine.
3. From Jdeveloper if I run any page (i.e. one of 10 pages) it is prompting me to login and after login it is redirecting to the page I ran.
My issue is that after the login is completed as in step 3, I want the page to be redirected to predefined page called UserResp.jspx. I don't want to redirect to the page from where the login page was called. As per the notes in the ADF document, I configured the success_url in the adfAuthentication servlet as below. But after login it is not redirecting to the success_url but it is redirecting to the page from where the login was prompted.
Do I need to perform any other step for this success_url to work. Could you please guide.

Thanks for all your help regarding the adfAuthentication success_url. Now I am able to configure to make this work. But now I am facing another issue i.e. I am getting 401 Not authorized message when the success_url is pointed to the jspx page.
Note: I am using custom login module similar to DBProcOraDataSourceLoginModule so my roles are stored in the custom Role class. So I am not sure how to pass this role info to the security in ADF in order to authorize the page to be viewed.
Could you please help and can you point me to any specific link.

Having problems starting Web Services... need help!

I'm running Mac Server 10.5.7 currently configured for email and I've just decided to start hosting websites. The problem I'm having is that Web Services will fail to start with any sites configured. Web Services will start if I don't have any sites configured. I've messed around with the Terminal app using some advice from online posts, but that didn't help. I'm not even sure I did it right.

So, I've read through all the documents and tried to apply what I've learned. I must say, I dove in head first. There's a lot to digest here. Maybe I'm reading too much.
I ran the Terminal and 'sudo' command you requested. This is the result.

Since posting this question I've installed mySQL, but I'm not exactly sure what it does.
I've tried changing to the httpd.conf file, but nothing is working. All I get when I type in "localhost" is cannot "connect to web server". At least before I was getting the "apple default page".
Need some advice on how to get this all straightened out. Looks like I made a pretty good mess of things.

Query off of Oracle using WinSql - Need help with query

I am trying to query off of Oracle using program WinSql.
I have a table(tticpr200110) that has the following sample data:

and what I want it to look like is:
ITEM     ACL     APM     APO     EXP     RES

(actually I need the last 2 columns added together to be MATL-but can deal with that down the road).
Seems simple enough, but I don't know to put into the columns.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as soon as possible would be even better.

My table - tticpr200110 when it runs I get the following sample data for part number 23500076:
The first coloumn ITEM is the part number.
The second column CODE is 1 of 5 different cost codes
The third column is the cost for that code for that part.

Web photo album error - need help please

I am using the newer version, which is Web Phot Album 2.1. It
used to work fine, i installed the new update for dreamweaver and
now it doesn't work. When i did update dreamweaver, I did what it
said and disabled the exentions. So, to the problem. When I click
on the open files button to choose which pictures i want, it gives
me this error :
' A script in file C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
MX\Configuration\Shared\Common\Scripts\dwscripts.js has been
running for a long time. Do you want to continue?'
so after i click yes, it will build the images using flash,
but it will not create any of the html or any of the html pages.
please let me know if anyone has any other ideas?????

amsSettings table and at least one of the other tables per Ken's
suggestion (which will give you a Cartesian join if unresolved),
you should either remove the double quotes from the
#SESSION.auth.NewLinesNo# parameter if it is numeric, or use single
quotes if it is a text field ('#SESSION.auth.NewLinesNo#')

Using "Git", need help...

Heya,
So I installed Git on my SLS and successfully initialized a repository but when I try and clone it from a remote computer (my Macbook) I get this error:

I don't understand what this error is and a search on Google doesn't help any...

are you running this under a git account with no defined homedir?
that's my guess. you need to provide more details.

USING JCreator Need help

I am using JCreator to compile and run my programs. I can get the programs to compile fine, but when I go to run them I get an error.
The error says : Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: New\java
press any key to continue.
I am not sure if the classpath or path is right or not
Please help guys.
