Web content interactivity puzzler
Hi all,
Hope someone can offer me a way forward on something I'm puzzling over. We're currently developing an App which (we hope!) involves a clickable map with various points of interest, so that when the user taps on one, the visible content in a second frame (an MSO) changes to provide info.
Seems like it should be simple enough, but the map issue is giving me a headache – is there any way of using HTML in the web content to control the state of the MSO? This would allow the user to zoom the map in and out and then tap on Point-of-interest markers to alter the MSO.
The obvious workaround is to effectively make the map a static image with a layer of invisible buttons on top so the user just pans around on it - we'll settle for that if necessary, and it won't be the end of the world because we want the map to function offline anyway, but I still really wanted to use OpenStreetMap/OpenLayers so that the whole thing would "work" as a map rather than an image, with tiled zoomability, layered overlays, and geolocation if the user opts for it...
Any thoughts, or is this the kind of thing you can only do by learning Objective C and Cocoa?
Thanks in advance!
Giles
Hello Giles,
Today, while searching for how to add Google Maps to dps, I found this post, and I thought it would probably give you a clue on how to achieve what you want, it's based on the google maps API, but is a very interesting solution. I hope it helps.

Please, if you try, let us know if it worked.
Regards and good luck.

Can't interact with Web Content Overlay when article is zoomed in
I have a problem with Web Content Overlay. It's working (interacting) only when article is viewed in 1:1 scale. Articles are added as PDF's, and when i do pinch zoom on them - Web Content Overlay stops reacting on click events.
Is it a general WCO limitation?
Can article with Web Content Overlay be zoomed in and still give user the ability to play with HTML content?
PiotrHello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
* You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
Thank you. -
How to get animate edge to interact with my web content
Hello and good day,
I will like to know how to get animate edge to interact with my web content or DOM.
Am creating my own cms and also i created an image slider.
i know how to integrate it to dreamweaver but now i will like to the animate slider to change images when a new image is added to my cms..There is no direct way out of edge animate.
You could export a OAM from Animate and import that into DreamWeaver CC which has a direct way of Hosting sites -
I just installed (on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) operating system/Intel i5 CPU M560 2.67 GHz) and am now using as my default browser Firefox 4.0.1 because Internet Explorer 9 was giving me so much trouble--lack of display of web content, lack of PDF reproduction when web content displayed, screwball formatting display, etc., all of which has been remedied by the mere installation of Firefox 4.0.1.
How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which converts a web page to an interactive PDF, to set up and work on Firefox 4.0.1?You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.

Hi,
i received an indesign file to include in a folio that had links to the creators desktop where they had the assets for the web content overlay. When i try to update the folio i get the error message:
"Content generation error.
[Error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay]"
Which is fair enough.
The problem is, i have gone through and changed all URLs that I can see, but there is one somewhere, that I just can't find.
Is there a way to get a list of all web content overlays in a particular file? otherwise i will need to recreate the whole page again, and it has some pretty complex interactions which i rather wouldn't do.
I also cannot ask the original doc creator to just change the links as i'm sure he'll have the same issues as me, at not being able to track down the erroneous link.
The problem I have with DPS is that its not very transparent. you'll have to click on everything, and into every group to see what actions are on it, which can be extremely time consuming and frustrating when complex interactions are included.
thanks in advance for any assistanceI’ve found watching the process helpful to narrow down the page.
Working off a duplicate of the file, delete one layer at a time until you figure out what layer the problem is on.
From there it’s a bit easier to narrow down. -

Help with html files when placing Web Content overlay
Hi there,
We have an educational app with lots of interactive exercises - all of which were initially designed in Flash.
I have converted the fla files into hmtl using Wallaby. For each fla file, Wallaby creates a js, css and html file as well as an assets folder.
When I place the Web Content frame, and link it to the html file, do I link it to the actual html file Wallaby created? It won't let me select the folder with all of the files in it as is, and I can't link it to a zip file either... So how does it recognise the assets if I only select the html file? (see screenshot)
Or do I need to add an HTMLResources folder and link it to that?
Thanks in advance for any help given. You link to the HTML file but make sure these things are in their own folder or InDesign will add EVERYTHING in the folder that has the html file in it.

Suppression of nav bars (chrome) in web-content overlays
We've started to experiment with creating interactive content within folios, using web content overlays and HTML5/AJAX.
Problem is the nav bars/chrome (whatever you want to call them) in Adobe Viewer pop up constantly, and unpredictably - for instance, the chrome will appear the *first* time an HTML button is clicked, but not on subsequent occasions. For other <div> elements that have onclick handlers attached, the nav always seems to appear.
Does anyone have any insight into possible ways of suppressing the nav bars completely for web-content user interaction? Judging by the behaviour of HTML buttons, it seems there has been some effort put into this on Adobe's part, but some concrete insight would be brilliant.
Cheers,
David (Boto Media).I have already come across these "solutions".
I am on v27 and have been since its release.
I have tried method number one. It partially works however it is buggy. When the overlay initially loads, it flashes the Twitter URL before showing the feed in the overlay frame on the article. Additionally, it sometimes flashes back and forth from the Twitter Feed's URL and displaying the feed itself. This, for me is not a wholly valid solution but it will do for now since the only thing that remotely works. I suspect the URL flash has alot to do with the network connectivity of the device one is viewing the feed on. However, to flash that URL before the feed loads makes the overlay appear buggy.
And the second method most definitely crashes ID ever single time I attempt to preview the overlay either on desktop or iPad. And I have tried this method on several different machines, thinking it was my copy of ID. It still crashes upon preview, so mehtod two is not a valid solution at all, unless there is something special that needs to be in the HTML file (besides the twitter widget) for it to not crash ID, that I am unaware of.
Thank you for your assistance. -
Web content overlay: that blasted spinning wheel
OK,
I need some pointers.
I am placing in animations made with Adobe Edge and they look good, however, onload you see a spinning wheel until the content loads in. I am looking to disable that spinning wheel.
How do I do this?
How does The Wired magazine do it? How do they have visusally rich content without that blasted wheel?
All and any help, gratefully received!
Billy.I figured out a way of hiding the spinning wheel, but it's a bit dodgy in a round-about way... It would be great if DPS can actually give us the option of disabling this feature.
I placed the Web Content Overlay object (that contains the HTML file) into an MSO. The first State is a blank object and the second state is the object that contains the HTML file.
My settings for the MSO is:
Tick: Autoplay
Delay: 0.5 sec
Interval: 0.125 sec
Play: 1 time
Tick: Stop at last image
Tick: Cross Fade
Speed: 1 sec
Export Format: Vector
My settings for the Web Content Overlay is:
Tick: Autoplay
Delay: 0 sec
Tick: Transparent Background
Tick: Allow User Interaction
Let me know if this works for you too!
(But please Adobe, please give DPS the option of disabling the spinning wheel). -
DPS - Web Content Overlay. How to implement dragging action in .folio?
Hi there
I am building a huge project, some kind of encyclopaedia with multimedia and interactive content I created using both Tumult Hype and Adobe Edge Animate 1.0. They are perfectly well loaded onto their own respective Web Content Overlay and work almost perfectly.
One of them is a draggable game in which you drag a man towards one side or another just to see how it inclines. I have tried it in many browsers and it simply works perfectly well. But, when I bring it into the inDesign document (into a MSO) I can't drag the man, as the ACV changes the page.
What can I do? Is there any way of avoiding this default behaviour when using these interactive content?
Best regards,
Luis Santa-MariaOk, thanks for not answering anyway.
I have managed to get the solution by myself. I just put a e.preventDefault(); function when dragging, and it just worked.
Thanks again to all those who didn't help and knew how to do it.
Best regards -
Displaying HTML in a Web Content Overlay
I have an article created in Indesign. I add a frame holder and create a web content overlay with a local html file and allow user interaction selected. When I preview the folio in either content viewer or on an iPad the html only appears after you click/tap the frame holder. Is this by design? If so, is there a way to have the html visible when the article is loaded (displayed) without a click/tap?
Thanks
JoeThanks Neil. That is not what I expected. My reading lead me to believe auto play was for mostly animations. I did try it with a 0 second delay and had no change. Why does the.125 second delay make it work? Trying to understand.
Thanks Again. -
No connection message for Web Content areas.
I have a live twitter panel loading into a Web Content overlay. In the event they do not have a connection, is there an alternate page that can be displayed with a simple message? I'm looking through the docs/search and oddly nothing has come up for this. I know I've come across it in the past.
Figuring it just needs another html file in the same folder called "error.html"... or the like.
Thanks!
StephenQuick followup.
I created a poster-image and dropped it into the rectangle that the web content will be assigned to. I've linked to a local .html file and have it set to AutoPlay and Allow User Interaction. And I left the background transparency unchecked.
Unfortunately, it seems to be creating a similiar scenerio to what Alistair was suggesting, where the image is visible while the web content loads. Possible I'm missing something or is this to be expected? Are both approaches essentialy the same?

Web content and viewer UI issue
I have a pure CSS3 bar chart web content overlay which has several buttons and radio button for the user to interact with which animated the data of the graphs. My issue is that every time I tap on an interactive element the viewer app UI keeps showing and hiding on each tap.
I've created another bar graph with jQuery and have the exact same issue. I've used web content with other HTML assets both jQuery and CSS3 and these navigational elements don't have the same problem.
Is it the fact that I'm using form elements to trigger the interactivity istead of links?
I've also ran a test using http://www.oesmith.co.uk/morris.js/ donnut chart which is jQuery/SVG based and I get the same issue.
Any clues?
Many thanks!
MariyaYou need to make sure that your JavaScript code indicates it has handled the tap events. If not you'll wind up with the event bubbling up to the viewer and triggering our navigational UI.

Digital Publishing Suite Help | Web Content overlays
This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/help/web-content-overlays.html
Hi - I have followed these instructions, and can see my web content when I preview in InDesign. However, when I publish to an Interactive PDF it doesn't appear. I'm in InDesign 6 and Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong?

Web Content Source - Not Working
Created a new web-content source & full crawled it.
When i searched with content text, not working.Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that it did not work when you searched a new web site content source in SharePoint 2013.
Please check whether the web site allows anonymous access to its content. If not, we need to configure a rule for the URL which allows us to enter the credential to access the content of site
More information, please refer to the link:
http://mohitvash.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/configure-external-site-as-content-sources-in-sharepoint-search/
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Wendy
