LiveCycle Content Sevices ES used as a Web Content manager

Is it possible or was the product meant to be integrated as a Web Content Management system. I was reading through a powerpoint presentation that was done by Marcel Boucher and it appears that this functionality was removed and not replaced.
Does LC CM ES have this ability?

Content Services is still available, the underlying technology was changed to use CRX as the repository. If you need to store and retreive content that will still work. If you're looking for a full Web Content Management system then you may also want to look at Adobe Experience Manager.

How to access / configure Web Content Management in NetWeaver

Suppose you have two sites like this: "/sites/SI/SiteA" and “/sites/SI/SiteB”, then you can retrieve the ClientContext object and the List object like this:

Web content management tools for enterpise portal

I'm currently trying to research web content management tools for enterprise portal.
My general requirements are:
- Tool should sit on top of the portal/km and not require another landscape infrastructure, in other words we don't need another document management repository, but rather a way an easier interface to KM.
- Should be geared towards end-user management of actual content. In other words IT provides the site framework and the business user handles the rest, with approvals with business unit
- Compatible with EP 7.0
My research so far has turned up two possible solutions:
- Webpage composer delivered by SAP
- EasyWCM by btexx
Are there any other solutions that people are using which might meet these needs or alternative web content management tools that could live with the portal on the same physical hardware environment? I have searched this forum and ecohub and have not found much besides this thread which is now almost 4 years old:

I'm not aware of too many other options than the ones already mentioned here. Also Iu2019m probably not the right person to ask as I have been part of the development team for the KMD product. So Iu2019m a bit biased on that part.
You could try to have a look at this presentation where other WCM solutions are mentioned (page 5):

However if you are looking for a WCM solution with no extra landscape infrastructure and low initial setup effort you are (in my opinion) down to 3 options (Web Page Composer, Btexxu2019s or KMDu2019s product). No such functionality is available in Contribute or
Dreamweaver till now. We will track the same as Enhancement
request.

I created some contents in WCM and I need to store some files with them.
Actually, I have an authoring template, with a text field containing the DocumentId of a LibraryFileComponent.
Manipulating a content, I'm able to get the DocumentId of the LibraryFileComponent. With this DocumentId, I'm able to get the data (a byte array) and the file name.
But I'm not able to get an URL to this component or to display the file on the screen (if it's an image for example)
I tried this kind of thing

My questions are :
- does any one knows why response.getOutputStream (either response.getWriter) returns null
- when I click on a link to the action, the page on the screen is the last (just where I come from) but the Struts JavaDoc says about the execute methode

I did as you suggested and removed the content from the web.xml file. The portlet installed and I was able to put it on a page, but it says the portlet is unavailable inside the portlet window on the portal page and here is the error from the log file

Event ID 5548; Event Source: Web Content Management

My Organization has a SP2010 production setup with 3 web front end servers. I see "A malformed reusable content HTML fragment was found: A placeholder was found within the HTML Content but there is no ID Section header at the
beginning of the HTML." event error all the time on the web front end servers. I have goggled it but didn't find enough information. Could anyone help me out on this.

It suggests that errors logged are caused by Web Parts in a specific page with rich text fields and an Export/Import/Delete operation might fix it.
Please go to ULS logs, narrow down that this was occurring only on a specific page of the site and which elements seemed to be causing the problem.

Web content management and using word to contribute

Hello - our users are having issues using word to contirbute and edit content. They contibute something, sometimes in word tables and sometimes not, and it may look fine in word but when it gets converted, it looks differently. Are there any tips/tricks out there that I can share? DC template changes I can make? And thoughts would be great!!

I assume you mean a HTML conversion.
Make sure your people are using Word "styles" and not simply changing the font sizes. You will then need to set up a DC template to render tables & images in specific ways depending on the Word style used. Note that styles can only be paragraph-based. Set as your DC template the default template.

Content Management in Portal How to

I´m Learning XML Forms but I have red that it is too static and I was wondering how do we manage content within Portal and KM? is there another tool to create and deploy content within the Portal? or it has to be developed and called from an iView?

I agree with you that XML Forms are static, that means you create one form for each common structure document that is to be published.
But this functionality has its own advantage, check this link for more infos:

Once you have your XMLForms ready use these forms to publish documents and then show them in you IView.

How does your portal's content management work? Are you happy with it?

It would be great if there was some sharing of how people have configured their content and document management through the portal, and how happy they are. I'm assuming almost everyone is on Publisher and Collab, but do you use them in a special way? Anything customized?
I'm currently looking for ways to make our system more flexible and easier to create new content areas. Also, uploading documents is a huge pain.
Html Content: Publisher
Customizations:
We include edit pencils at the top of each content item visible for people with edit access to the community.
FCKeditor instead of default rich text editor, with image upload
links to KD cards and community pages are transformed into adaptive tags on save
Issues
There is clear separation between what a 'content editor' and a 'community manager' is able to create. Any creation of new portlets or changing of anything falls on the community manager. Content editor feels very restricted as they only have control over what is inside the boxes, and can't create new 'pages'. This leads to stale content.
Documents: Collaboration
We use collab for documents because we want to be able to publish different versions of the same doc to the KD, without breaking any links that we have created to that existing document. We use snapshot queries sometimes to display documents, but more ofthen than not we just use a KD picker to display a single document, and this means we need to be able to update the card without breaking the link.
Issues
Training users to go to collab to upload documents is not easy, and then publishing is difficult as well. There is no multi-document publish. Publishing sometimes fails and times out, and the document can be deleted from collab and still exist in the KD. Also, custom properties that we add to cards in the KD seem to vanish, but hopefully upgrading to the latest versions will help.
I'd like to investigate creating helper functions to make the job of uploading documents to the correct folder in collab easier. The tool would upload to the right folder, and then publish to the KD if necessary.

We are using publisher for web content as well as documents.
The documents are crawled into the KD using the publisher crawler, and we use a "link to document" custom button that build automatically the PT:Tag link to the KD card that represents the crawled document.
So really all the links to documents stay valid only if the KD card are not deleted and recreated...(otherwise, the links are broken...and i did not find a better way to handle this better yet)
We also use the "Edit/Create" buttons for all our publisher content in order to allow content editors easy access to the publisher content to edit/add.
The main pain points we have is that the preview is not very useful...previewing only the content of your portlet does not give you a feel of what the complete portal page will look with your new content. If there was a way to view the portal page (with all the publisher portlets on it) in preview mode, THAT would be useful.
And because of this, content managers are not very comfortable to create/edit the content in PROD directly (because they really want to see the end product of their editing process...i.e. the final portal page) and i don't blame them...
Which leads to another huge pain point: When creating content in Staging for example, it is hard to push it to PROD when ready. And even if you use the import/export feature (which is not great either because you can only export folder instead of being able to pick and chose the content you want to export), you need to have someone (infrastructure person who have access to servers) move the publisher export zip file...which makes the whole process more cumbersome than it should be, really.
Publisher should be multi-environment aware...What i mean is that it would be great if a single publisher instance would allow to push the content to different environments (i.e. STG first, and then when it looks good PROD) as the content mature towards production state. (products like Documentum -I know it is not the same planet compared to publisher but still...- do this flawlessly)
Last the free text editor is not awesome and i don't like that when you add a link to another item or image, it automatically puts the absolute path in there...that makes it harder to migrate.
I have not tried to replace the free text editor...What is your experience with FCKEditor??

New e-learning development and content management

My compay currently uses Serena Collage for Content
Management along with Macromedia Studio MX 2004 for web site
development. We have an upcoming e-learning project that we are
considering developing in Captivate and Flash. We are mandated that
all development be Section 508 compliant and e-learning must be
SCORM compliant as well.
Can I continue to use Collage to manage content developed
from Captivate and Flash? Is Captivate SCORM and 508 compliant and
is Flash 508 compliant?
Please advise.

MX 2004 is 508 compliant, I have had to make partial and full
compliant courses with it. That being said, it took us a decent
amount of time and effort.
