Web Design software for 10.2 ish

Hey all,
really need some help for one of my friends. She has an ibook, the one that followed the coloured ones. Currently running 10.2 I believe and I need to find her some web design software. Something similar to Rapidweaver would be great as they've told me they have never supported 10.2.
I think dreamweaver is a little overkill for her but if thats the best option then such is life! Will dreamweaver MX work on 10.2?
Thanks
Noel

Freeway Express works with 10.2.8 or higher. Stone Studio's Create works with 10.1 or higher. NVU (a free WYSIWYG editor based on the Netscape/Mozilla editor) is compatible with 10.1.5 or higher. Macromedia's Contribute is compatible with 10.2.8 or higher.

  • Web design software for Mac?

What is the best/easiest web design software for OSX Panther -- freeware/shareware or retail? I have a simple site I update once in a while (currently using an ancient copy of AOLPress on my old G3), so I don't need anything elaborate.
    Thanks very much --
    Christine

iWeb is probably the best easy-to-use, very simple, good looking and W3 validated code producing  application out there.
It does allow you to export your data and upload via FTP, yet Apple is definitely trying to sell a few more .Mac memberships.
NVU is quite good for more complex websites.
If you're looking for a very efficient way of administrating your website, adding new content and all kinds of features, check out Joomla, a Content Management System . You do however need a server that supports php and MySQL.

    Hello,
Not getting much help on the web, so does anyone know of a reasonably priced but not cheap HTML web design software I can use on my MacBook Pro. Most of the ones i'm finding are $400 and up. I was hoping to not have to spend more then $200 maybe $250. Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Good web design software for Tiger

At the moment when I write a article for my web ministry http://www.cerm.info in Word I have to copy and paste into AppleWorks for X, save to HTML and then open the file with Home Page 3.x to get my headers at the top. I then use Fetch for OSX and sometimes (yes sometimes) Transmit 1.7.
I am on a tight budget, but aside from this problem, what would you reccommend to make things simpler for me? No my website is not a multimedia or a design site, so no your suggestions will not help there. My website is a education ministry website, so I'm more concerned about substance, and you computer people cant help in that area. However you can make things easier for me doing this job.
Ideally I'd like to get a web page designer and editor, and I work on is research, writing, debating, etc... I do not want to deal with the technical nonsense, but I guess this is what I get for running a ministry by myself.
    Thanks for the tips.

    Hello,
Yes, Netscape is still around. But, they are a small player compared to the old days.
I really never have liked their browser. But, they are still releasing new versions, and run a fairly decent business.
They're now with AOL and I think Time Warner. So, it's a huge conglomerate now. And together they work out a pretty good package of services that compliment each other.
But, the new versions of Netscape and Composer have improved greatly. So, definitely get the latest version. It's a good product for the needs you mentioned.
I think it's an excellent product. I just don't like the style interface they choose to use for the browser. It's really good. Just not as attractive to me as Safari on the Mac or Internet Explorer on the PC.
And, for me the user Interface is what decides which product I use.
But, I think for your needs, Composer will serve you very well.
I keep Netscape on my system just for the Composer feature. That's about the only time I use Netscape.
Just be sure to get the latest version for the best features and easiest interface.
I hope it serves you well.

  • What's a good web design software to use with hype.

I didn't have luck with sandvox, rapid weaver, or highway. It seems that iWeb is gone and im trying to transition into a diffrent html5 compatible web software. I would like to learn web coding but for now i need a quick and efficiant transsition. I've came across Hype and its great but iWeb can use it. I would love to hear some suggestions on what everyone else is using (not including previously mentioned apps).

No, iWeb has not gone anywhere.  It is correct that Apple no longer sells it or supports it, but iWeb is an application like any other on your mac and if you have it you can most definitely still continue to use it.  It works with Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion and by all accounts, it will work with the new Mavericks too.
You can do a search of this site and there are literally hundreds of posts on the same topic of new web design software, but you can take a look at Flux 4, Freeway Pro/Express 6, WebAcappella 4 and Quck n Easy Website Builder.  Other than that, you are then looking at Content Management Systems such as Joomla and WordPress.
You can also take a look at EasyWeb which is a new app being developed by Rage Software - it has not been released yet and is still in its beta testing stage, but this is closer to iWeb than most.

  • Web design software

    Hi
i am new to an imac desktop. I am looking for some web design software to buy that kets you drag and drop like iweb, but also has the ability to do code aswell. Dreamweaver is too expensive so was looking for something a bit cheaper. I have been looking at rapid weaver which looks ok but dont know anyone thats used it. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated
    thanks

    Hi,
I have Rapidweaver. It’s fine, cheap (U$ 79,00) but "limited". You can´t compare it to dreamweaver. Rapidweaver offers a demo ride. You can try it http://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/
Have you heard about Joomla!? It´s free and depending of your needs, it can help.

  • Is Dreamweaver the best web design software to learn for an aspiring web designer?

    Hi Everyone,
Perhaps difficult to get an unbiased answer to this in a
Dreamweaver forum but I'm sure most of you considered other web
development software before you went with Dreamweaver. Of course
the answer is not as straight forward as just choosing one piece of
software over another. I understand that there isn't really one
piece of software that ticks every box for the web designer. What I
mean is that there isn't one standalone piece of software that's
best for web design (HTML, CSS etc.), graphics and animation etc.
and that's why we have things such as Adobe Creative Suite. Anyway,
sticking to web design and development in the Dreamweaver sense,
would I be correct to advise someone who wants to work in the field
of web design to use Dreamweaver as their main tool? Particularly,
I would be interested to know if Dreamweaver really is the industry
standard as it's important to consider future job prospects.
I hope you understand what I'm asking.
Thanks, in anticipation for your help.
P.S. Has anyone heard of Enterprise Works?

  • Good web design software to replace iWeb

    Hello There,
I have been using iWeb for a while now, and despite its limitations, I like it.  Now that Apple has discontinued (or will discontinue) MobileMe and some of the features wont be available any more, I decided to move to another web-design program.
I have downloaded the trial of rapidweaver (the one with the 3 page limit) so I could play with it and see what it was like.  It is HORRIBLE, it is not easy to use, importing pictures seems pretty impossible.  I cant insert pictures like I can in iWeb, I cant drag things around like I can in iWeb - the whole program seems to be template and text based.
    I don't really know how to do coding or anything, so I am not looking for a fancy web-design tool that costs a fortune.  But I want something that I can actually use.  I want to do the following;
Create pages from scratch if I want to
    Insert images and reposition them
Insert images into my text and aline them
    Have a blog
    Have a photo gallery
insert movies (when I want to share them)
    have a chat room
Have a nice looking site without having to do any serious heavy coding (because I don't really know how to)
Can someone please suggest to me a good website design program that is comparable to iWeb and with which I can replace the afore mentioned iWeb.  Eervyone says RapidWeaver, but I really didnt like it.

Just to promote iWeb for a bit more read the following in case you hadn't considered it:
As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.
Now that being said there's been a lot of discussion on replacements to iWeb.  Most of the applications are template driven and make it difficult to start with a clean page.  Roddy has more experience in evalutating those apps.  I decided on Flux.  It's a drag and drop, WYSIWYG application with easy code insertion.  If you've ever added a  3rd party slideshow to an iWeb page with an HTML snippet you can view this Flux tutorial page on how I did it with Flux: F03 - Adding a SimpleViewer Slideshow to a Web Page or this tutorial on adding a multi page PDF document to a web page: F02 - Adding a PDF Document to a Web Page.
I have to admit it takes a little study but the video tutorials at the Flux site and those 3rd party videos on YouTube help quite a bit.
If you search this community for "iWeb alternatives" you should get a list of topics discussing the other alternatives.

  • What web design software is equivalent to dvd studio pro?

is there a program that someone uses thats functionality is based on dvd studio pro?

    That's an odd question.
Web design is vastly different to DVD authoring - chalk and cheese, really. If you are after a web development platform that allows events to happen on a timeline basis, then Dreamweaver will do this. It also allows for navigational links to be set up that go to any part of a web site.
But then, so do most web development environments worth looking at... what exactly is it that you are after?

  • New To Web Design Looking  For Tutorials

Hi, I am looking for some help and I am hoping that one of you can help me. I am a total beginner, as in complete beginner. I am looking to do a certified web design course, but can anyone point me in the direction of some DWCS5 tutorials. Beginner ones though, would like to gain some experience at least before I start my course.
    Thanks.

The very best advice I can offer a beginner is to put Dreamweaver away.  First focus on learning  HTML and CSS code.  Without a working knowledge of code basics, DW has a steep learning curve.  If you understand code fundamentals, DW is easy to figure out.

  • Options for simple web design software

I have iWeb 08, which produces pretty much what I want, but IE8 won't display the javascript menu's.
So is there a way of getting iWeb to create pages that will view in IE8 ? or is there some equally simple software that just works ?
    Thanks.

You'll find a few more hints here.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/iWebandInternetExplorer.html
If you want IE users to be able to watch your movies you really need to convert then to flash or upload them to a service like YouTube or, better still, Vimeo.
For music files, the only sensible way to go is to use a flash player or jukebox as most PC users can't or won't download QuickTime Player.

For molded and/or machined objects, SolidWorks will work quite well. It will probably work OK for the case as well, depending on how it's made (and how good you are with SW ). Plus, you can create fairly good graphic images with it.
