Web dynpro Java, Interactive Forms, Workflow/UWL

I really wanted to watch this eClass entitled:
"Integration for Business Workflow and SAP Interactive forms by Adobe (Session 7)"
However, it didn't pull up in my browser.
I need to trigger a workflow from WDJ and I need to attach an interactive pdf form to a workflow/workitem from WDJ.
Would i use the standard "SAP_WAPI*" functions modules via Adaptive RFC model in WDJ?
Maybe these? SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD_REF, SAP_WAPI_GET_ATTACHMENTS
Also I am need to open a WDJ when the user clicks on the task in UWL. This WDJ will read the pdf attachment on the workitem and display it to the user.

I solved this problem on my own. Aren't I cool?

You need to select the value first and then use the submit button, which is mapped to the WD action submit (you have to set this up in WD designer!!). To use the submit button for more actions, you need to use something like a hidden field, where the value is set according to the action you want to do with your submit button. The submit sends this value back to WD, where you can switch the program code according to the value.

PDFDocumentRuntimeException Error with web dynpro and Interactive Forms

I installed on my notebook the Trail Versions of:
- SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.00/Java AS 7.00
- SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.0.14
- Acrobat Reader 7.0.9
- Internet explorer 7.0.5730.13
I configured and tested the ADS after the configuration guide and i get the Version info sucessfully if I do the http://localhost:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/Config Test.
So i developed a web dynpro application with interactive forms after a tutorial and did exactly the same (so i think i have to configure something on the server or on the client). All other Webdynpro applications without an interactive forms are running without any problems.
when im running the application with the interactive forms this error occured:

Im not quit sure if i installed the Adobe Component Framework. Could this be the problem ?

Web dynpro Java + interctaive forms + dorp down list

Hi,
I'm currently trying to display manager names in a drop down list in an interactive forms.
The node binded to the drop down list is filled in by the Java web dynpro application and it's correctly filled, I have check.
My problem is that only the first value is dispalyed in the drop down list. I can't selected other values.
My question is: - which drop down should I uses?
 - How do I have to do the binding?

Prerequisites:
Add your key-value pairs of the returned managers in a java Map object first, in my example below its the object 'map'
Get the attributeInfo of the field from your node's nodeinfo, in my example its the object 'attrInfo'
F.i. wdContext.node<YourNode>().getNodeInfo().getAttribute(IPrivate<YourView>.I<ViewElement>Element.<YOURATTRIBUTE>
Then it's fairly straightforward:
IModifiableSimpleValueSet svSet = attrInfo.getModifiableSimpleType().getSVServices().getModifiableSimpleValueSet();
svSet.clear();
for (Iterator i = map.entrySet().iterator(); i.hasNext();) {

Then, in your view, bind the dropdown control to the context value attribute, and it should work

Web Dynpro & Adobe Interactive Forms - how to update the context node

Hi Experts,
I got a WD Component with some context nodes that are mapped to some views and are filled in this views. These context nodes are the dataSource for the Interactive Forms. These forms are embedded in a view by UIElement Interactive Forms.
My problem is, everytime when I change the structure of the context nodes (i.e. there's an additional attribute necessary), I have to design new forms to get the context nodes linked to the form. My existing forms cannot handle updated context nodes.
The change in the context node is displayed on web dynpro side, in the dataSource view in UIElement property. But in TA sfp there is the old context node structure displayed without any change (i.e. in number of attributes).
My forms' layout type is ZCI Layout the interface is based on XML.
How can I easily update the forms' context node structure without creating new forms every time?

Problem when generating an non-interactive form in Web Dynpro java.

I'm trying to create a PDFDocument using a creation context in java. Everything works fine when the Interactive property of the creation context is set to true. When I change it to false however, the Web dynpro application hangs and eventually throws the following exception:

Yeah I know changing the form properties will solve my problem, but since i'm developing a training for Interactive Forms in Web Dynpro Java, I wanted to figure out why the (static / non-interactive) combination didn't work, turned out to be a template problem, which i still didn't figure out, except the fact that having flowed content on your template is not the problem.
My ideas about your question:
When we have the layout of an Interactive Form, its clear if it's meant to be static or dynamic, we don't know however, if it's interactive or non-interactive.
I don't think we can judge a layout to have an Interactive or non-interactive purpose, can depend on the situation in which the same form is shown/used:
- One moment it can be interactive, e.g. user is filling in the form, can enter data etc.
- Next moment it can be non-interactive, e.g. form is shown to another user.
So it's more the scenario/situation that determines if the form is interactive or non-interactive.

The evniorment and versions you posted seems to be quite scattered, make sure all are of compatible and to the lates.
Anyways this was not the reason for your problem.
Can you tace if the button click event is triggered ....?
1) when the PDF is published can you see any of the fields editable...? reason behind is generally when you create a form in ADLC it comes up in static PDF format if its so you need to make it dynamic.
I dont know if adding the webdynpro script to your form might fix.

Can anyone help me with deciding the right technology to use among WDJ and Interactive form by adobe. I want to prepare a presentation to showcase the strong and weak points in order to decide the final technology.

I personally prefer Web Dynpro Java without Interactive forms in most cases.
    Interactive forms are developed on top of Web Dynpro, so you are including an extra tier with the complexity it adds.
    PDF files tend to go big and performance tends to go down. In average, my forms weight between 1 - 5 Mb so network traffic is a bottleneck.
    The scripting environment is very poor.
    On the other hand PDFs interfaces are nicer than WDJ, but I think navigation is worst in part because of the performance issues. Considering this, reporting could be a good use of Interactive Forms.
    The best scenario for using Interactive Forms is for off-line applications, which can't be done with WDJ. For example, if you want your customer to fill an order list, you can send automatically an offline pdf file wich he can fill and submit to your company, initiating a bpm.

Where Web Dynpro Java version of Adobe Forms are used in ESS MSS

Hi, SDN Expert.
I am working on research the use of Adobe Interactive Forms in the current processes of HCM ESS MSS.
We are on ECC5.0, EP7.0, and ESS MSS SP21. We are in the midst of upgrading to ECC6.0.
Do you know where Web Dynpro Java version of Adobe Forms are used in ESS MSS are used? OR are they all in Web DYnpro ABAP version in ECC6.0?

Hi experts,
please guide me about the workflows in web dynpro java. i have to implement workflow outside SAP, i dont have any idea about it.

For Configuring Workflows outside SAP we need to have a Gateway HUB where it channelizes to connect through Outside SAP. Based on the Tasks available in SWFVISU we can choose either Java or ABAP workflow where the Appropriate Task numbers will be available.

Display sapscript form in Web Dynpro Java

Hi,
Is it possible to print an existing sapscript form i.e. PO from ECC to my Web Dynpro application? I have successfully created a Web Dynpro Java application to create POs but now have a requirement to display or print the PO?
Can someone provide me with a sample code? I'm hoping to be able to do this without using Adobe.

InteractiveForm UI Element in Web Dynpro Java - Image not displayed on form

Hello Experts,
Using: NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.0.1_06; Adobe Livecycle Designer 8.1.
I have an image "image.png" in my src/mimes/components/com.mm.InteractiveFormComp folder within my web dynpro java project.
I load the image into my context in wdDoInit method in the comp controller:
wdContext.currentContextElement().setImage("image.png");
In the interactiveform I have an ImageField on the form and have set its properties as follows:
Field - URL = http:[host]:[port]/webdynpro/dispatcher/InteractiveFormComp/src/mimes/components/com.mm.InteractiveFormComp/image.png
Field - Embed Image Data = "checked"
Binding - Default Binding = Image
However, no image ever shows up on the form. I have also been through many threads in the forums but havent found a solution. Can anyone please assist me?

Problems with Adobe PDF forms in Web Dynpro Java

As of now , I have two major issues in developing Adobe PDF forms in Web Dynpro Java .
1.Text getting wrapped and repeated from the first line :
Any text field that flows to the next page gets wrapped at the end of the page and is again printed on the next page beginning from the first line .
For eg:
If I have 4 lines in a text field that is at the end of the page
1111111111111111111111
2222222222222222222222
3333333333333333333333
4444444444444444444444
and the page holds space for only two lines it prints the lines
1111111111111111111111
2222222222222222222222
in the first page and then proceeds to the next page and prints
1111111111111111111111
2222222222222222222222
rather than printing
3333333333333333333333
4444444444444444444444
2.No way to hide a page at runtime:
It is not possible to hide a page in a PDF form at runtime . If scripting is used , the page turns into a blank page but not hidden .
Any pointers on this????????

I have a node called MasterData which is the root node for my PDF Form.I have a node called GenData inside this node whose ctx_Appraisal_Type_Num attribute is bound to a hidden TextField in my form.In the docReady event of this TextField, I am writing the following FormCalc script to hide my SubForm whose Id is MngrCmptnc
