Web dynpro material

Hi
iam new to web dynpro. can anyone please provide me some good learning notes for wd.
thank
sai.

Well where to start?
SDN has a whole section for this topis here:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/webdynpro
At first help.sap.com is always a great start with its tutorials:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/de/15/0d4f21c17c8044af4868130e9fea07/frameset.htm
Then you will find a couple of very good artikles here in SDN, just to mention a few:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/efe7a790-0201-0010-7894-cfd79d02bb7e
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a048387a-0901-0010-13ac-87f9eb649381
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/0c7b2f25-0c01-0010-f2a2-f8a65a9dcad9
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/0c7b2f25-0c01-0010-f2a2-f8a65a9dcad9
And there is also a good book out about this stuff called Inside WebDynpro that i can highly recommend.
And this was only the Java stuff. With NetWeaver 2004s there is now also WebDynpro for ABAP.
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/63a47dd9-0b01-0010-3d8e-de27242bf011
And you will find a lot more of this here in SDN. Just search for it if you made it through these few items.
Have fun,
  ok

  • Are there any standard web dynpro ABAP or JAVA for material creation(mm41)?

    Hi SDN,
          I have got the requirement to provide Web Dynpro application for material creation (transaction code is MM41) and I would prefer to enhance standard Web Dynpro more than develop from scratch. Now I got only the Web dynpro ABAP component for create sales order called "LO_OIF_MAIN_COMP" and GUI HTML for purchasing order that come with business package Eh4.
          Anyone who know please kindly help me.

    >but I afraid that I'm not able to find out what is its component name from application
    You could just lookup the WD Application in SE80 and then it will show you the component name. From SE80 choose Edit Object from the toolbar. Go to the Web Objects tab in the dialog. Type in the WD Application name and hit enter.  You will then see the details of that application.

    As the name suggests Web Dynpro for ABAP uses exactly the same meta model as its cousin Web Dynpro for Java. A Web Dynpro component, a Web Dynpro view, a Web Dynpro model, a Web Dynpro controller have the same semantics both for ABAP and Java. The main difference is the designtime environment, the development infrastructure and the runtime environment.
    The designtime environment is properly embedded in the ABAP Workbench where Web Dynpro artifacts are simply a new category like BSP applications or classical dynpro based applications before. Also no surprises regarding the development infrastructure. The correction and transport system keeps track on all changes that are done, versions them and helps to propagate the Web Dynpro application from development to production like you would do with ordinary BSP or dynpro-based applications.
    Last not least the execution platform is the ABAP server that produces application content ready to be integrated in the NetWeaver Portal seamlessly. Features like portal eventing can be used between applications written in ABAP or applications developed with Java.

    See packages like SWDP_DEMO , SALV_WD_DEMO

    If you need some standard examples then do WDR* and you'll get a big list in se80 transaction. Also SWDP_DEMO is a good package to refer to. Check for WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS and WDR_TEST_EVENTS for UI operations and their various events.

  • How to create a user in UME Database using web dynpro java custom application

    Hi,
    Can you please suggest me how to create a user in UME Database using web dynpro java custom application.
    My Requirement is user can register his/her user id in SAP Portal 7.3 UME database.
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
    Generated Documentation (Untitled)
    This is what you're looking for, there's no real cook-book -- though Amey mentioned there might be some material on SDN, perhaps some tutorials.
    You should be looking into com.sap.security.api.IUserFactory, methods newUser(String) which gives you and IUserMaint and commitUser(IUserMaint, IUserAccount) -- IUserAccount can be obtained using com.sap.security.api.IUserAccountFactory, method newUserAccount(String)
    Hope it helps,

  • Using the XML returned by XI to populate table in Web Dynpro UI

    Hi,
    In Web Dynpro,I have a scenario where i have to generate reports. For this, I enter the "Customer number", "Date" & "Item No" in 'Generate report' page  and hit the "submit" button. These details are sent as XML to XI which interacts with the ABAP R/3 system, performs the search and returns the search results as an XML
    Now, I want to display search results contained in this XML by populating it in a table.
    From, the point where the XML is returned by XI, could you please tell me the step by step process to populate this XML in a table. Please include code, if any.
    Kindly help.

    Hello Sandeep,
    Create context node with following strucure:
    <i>
    result
    -CustomerNumber
    -ItemNumber
    -Material
    -OrderDate</i>
    Create data handler:
    public class XIDataHandler extends DefaultHandler {
         private String lastAttribute;
         private IWDNodeElement newElement;
         public void startElement(String namespaceURI, String localName, String rawName, Attributes atts) {
              if ("Result".equals(localName)) {
                   newElement = wdContext.createResultElement();
                   wdContext.nodeResult().addElement(newElement);
              } else {
                   if(null!=newElement)
                        lastAttribute = localName.trim();
         public void endElement(String namespaceURI, String localName, String rawName) {
              if ("Result".equals(localName)) {
                   newElement = null;
                   lastAttribute = null;
         public void characters(char[] data, int off, int length) {
              if(null!=newElement && null!=lastAttribute) {
                   final String value = new String(data, off, length).trim();
                   if(!"".equals(value)) {
                        newElement.setAttributeValue(lastAttribute, value);
    And parse XML in appropriate place within your application:
    try {
         SAXParserFactory factory = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
         SAXParser parser = factory.newSAXParser();
         //Loading XML from string (XI_DOCUMENT), change if source differs
         StringReader sr = new StringReader(XI_DOCUMENT.trim());
         InputSource is = new InputSource(sr);
         parser.parse(is, new XIDataHandler());
    } catch (Exception e) {
         final StringWriter sw = new StringWriter();
         final PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(sw);
         e.printStackTrace(pw);
         wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException(sw.toString(), true);
    Create table and table columns and map your context to it.
    Best regards, Maksim rashchynski.

  • Using External JARs in a Web Dynpro Project

    Hi,
    I'm having some difficulties building and deploying a Web Dynpro application that uses the Apache JaxMe libraries.  We're using SP11 of Developer Studio and WebAS and we're using JDI Scenario 2+ for building and deployment.  Thus far here's the procedure I followed:
    1) Created a DC of type "External Library"
    2) Added the necessary jars to the "libraries" folder of the External Library DC project (the jars that I added were jaxme2-rt.jar, jaxme2.jar, jaxmeapi.jar, jaxmejs.jar, jaxmepm.jar, jaxmexs.jar, xercesImpl.jar, xml-apis.jar all of which were pulled from the Apache JaxMe implementation download)
    3) For each of the jars in the libraries folder I right-clicked, selected Develoment Component then clicked "Add to public part"
    Then after reading this note:
    https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=012006153200000038152005
    I created a J2EE Library Component DC following these steps:
    1) Created a new DC of type J2EE Server Component / Library
    2) Added the External Library DC that I had just created as a "Used DC"
    3) Edited the DC so that it is used a Build Time and Run Time
    Finally I went to the Web Dynpro application and included the J2EE Library Component DC as a Used DC at build time and run time.
    I was able to build all of the project successfully (doing a DC build for each) then I was able to succesfully deploy the applications to my local development WebAs (by doing a DC deploy for both the J2EE Server Component and the Web Dynpro application)  The problem is that at runtime the Web Dynpro application cannot find the external libraries.  For example, I receive the following error when running the application:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/bind/JAXBException
    The "missing" class is included in one of the jars but for some reason these jars are not accessible to Web Dynpro at runtime.
    Any help you can provide on this problem is very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!
    Jason

    I created the <b>JAR</b> with the following class (structure):
       <b>com.sap.tc.webdynpro.tests.utils.TableSorter.class</b>
    I have followed the steps that was suggested in the forum:
    ==========================================================
    1) creating an Extneral library DC
    2) import the JAR "com.sap.tc.webdynpro.tests.util.jar" to the libraries folder of the External Library DC project
    3) Right-click on the JAR imported to the project and add them to the public part.
    This DC is now ready to be used as a build-time reference that will allow CBS to build the "main" Web Dynpro application that will use the external libraries. Next, we have to create a new Web Dynpro DC to hold the class files here are the steps:
    1) Create a new Web Dynpro DC
    2) Create a new public part, selecting the "Can be packaged into other build results" option
    3) Rename the JARs as Zip files and extrct the full content (folders and class files) to your root folder
    4) Import the folders and files to the src/packages folder
    5) Expand the public part node that was created and select the "Entities" node, right-click it and choose Edit
    6) In the Entity Type list select the "Folder" option then in the selected entities tree pick each of the folders that you imported in step 5 (above)
    7) Now do a DC build and a DC deploy of the project
    Then check-in, activate, and release any activities you have associated with creating these two projects. In the DC perspective, refresh the Active DCs and Inactive DCs to ensure that both new DCs appear in the Active list. Now we have to setup the references to these DCs in our main Web Dynpro application. To do this, follow these steps:
    1) Open the Web Dynpro perspective and right click the Used DCs node then choose "Add Used DC.."
    2) Pick the public part of the External Library DC that we created (first) and set it to have a Build Time dependency
    3) Again, right click the Used DCs node and choose "Add Used DC.." then choose the public part of the Web Dynpro DC that we created and give it a Run Time dependecy (weak) and click finish.
    4) Now, due to what I think is a bug. You must right click on the Web Dynpro "used DC" that you just added in the previous step, and set the run time dependency again (it seems to revert to the default values for some reason)
    5) Now do a DC build and a DC deploy on the "main" web dynpro application.
    6) Check-in, activate, and release any activities associated with adding these references and then others on your team may use the classes in the external libraries within the Web Dynpro project.
    However, when I executed, the following exception occurred:
    ===========================================================
    Error stacktrace:
    java.lang.<b>NoClassDefFoundError</b>: <i>com/sap/tc/webdynpro/tests/utils/TableSorter</i>
         at br.com.embraer.materiais.zdplmm001.view.Zdplmm001_0500View.wdDoModifyView(Zdplmm001_0500View.java:138)
    <b>What's missing????</b>

  • RFC: Introduce new 'Article/Tutorial (Comment) Threads' in the Web Dynpro Forum

    Some time ago I've suggested on SCN Support is both forum moderator and most active articles wrtiter
    Valery Silaev
    SaM Solutions
    http://www.sam-solutions.net
    Message was edited by: Bertram Ganz
    This thread was branched from forum thread: How to print the data of a Model node.

    Hi Valery,
    thanks for this great idea. Indeed, there is no channel set up to communicate feedback/suggestions/questions to Web Dynpro tutorials or articles in a standardized way.
    WebLogs can be commented on the WebLog page itself and they are announced in a special ;\ New Web Dynpro Weblogs which can be opened via the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/uuid/49f2ea90-0201-0010-ce8e-de18b94aee2d">Web Dynpro Feature2Sample Matrix</a>. Actually the section 'Further Information' lists all related articles, WebLogs etc. These links are regularly updated so that the Sample Description Pages helps to keep all links to valuable information in a central place.
    The 'Sample Description Page' should additionally comprise a section <b>'Discussion'</b> with a link to the above 'Article Comment Thread' in the Web Dynpro forum. The reader downloads the material from the sample description page and also finds a link to the related 'Article Comment Thread' there.
    For all new articles (which are combined with a related 'Article Comment Thread') the <i>Further Information</i> links could point to the 'Article Comment Thread' (which then itself links to the article) but not directly to the article resource. The reader can then also have look at the existing comments to the related resource. As an alternative the article PDF itself should have a permanent link to the 'Article Comment Thread' in the Web Dynpro Forum.
    Please post your comments on this idea.
    Regards, Bertram

  • Search help for Web Dynpro using the SAP-search help

    Hi,
    I’m trying to create a generic search help for Web Dynpro using the SAP-search help. It should working so, that I construct a Web Dynpro-component, that gets the data of the search help from the SAP-system, interpreted it and creates the ui-elements and the needed context generic.
    The mapping between the Input field of the customerview and the right search help is to be made with an xml-file, which contains the information: name of the view, the input field, the search-help-name and the name of the field that will be returned.
    The xml-file is reading from a helper-class. That helper-class contains any information, witch need the search help-component as well as the customer-component.
    The initialization takes place in the method wdDoModify of the customer. The call of the search help from the customer should be implement with an Action, witch is bound to a Button(create dynamic in the helper-class behind the input field).
    In a second foot should be create a plugin for eclipse, witch insert the used files (search help component, helper class, …) in the project. In addition it should create the call in the customer generic.
    It would be great if someone can give me a feedback!

    Hi Mike,
    The BlanketAgreement.exe is a reference to the executable that will be created when you compile the solution you created in Part II - Part III. I think there is a mistake in the tutorial because it asks you to name the project 'Blanket' which means that by default the executable will be called Blanket.exe and not BlanketAgreement.exe. The tutorial also misses the step asking you to compile the Blanket project before you go on to create an installer. You should compile your Blanket project in Release mode before creating an installer. By compiling the project you'll get a Blanket.exe file in the bin folder of your Blanket project which you then need to add to the installer per the instructions.
    SAP do offer development courses in some areas and there is training material here on the SDN and on the SAP partner portal (and maybe the customer portal as well). Try searching this forum for 'training' or 'tutorial' and you should get a few links. There's also a development certification.
    Personally I'd recommend you give yourself a little project to work on and just get stuck in
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Sequencing Problem in Web Dynpro ABAP

    Hi Web Dynpro (ABAP) Guru's,
    Can anyone tell me how to read a parameter from the WDA url in my view? The situation is like this: My WDA is being rendered in the Portal EP 6.0 as an iView. When my WDA is called the portal also appends in the URL the plant number. I want to grab that plant number and use it in my view to show some default data.
    As per other weblogs/forum posts I defined a parameter "PLANT_NO" in the "Default" startup plug of my Main window. I'm using the Get_Data method to read this parameter in the plug. I'm able to read the URL parameter here and so far it is good. Read below for the problem..
    If I understand the order of operations correctly, doesn't the views get created, then the default plug code is run, then the views are placed on the window and then shown to the user. Since my views are created before my default plug is run I DO NOT get the URL parameter value in the WDDOINIT of my view. When I debug the application, the WDDOINIT of the embedded view gets called before the Default startup plug. Am I missing something here?
    If someone can tell how to read the URL parameter in the WDDOINIT (instead of Default Startup) of the view I could default in the data I want to display. OR any other suggestions to get past this problem would be appreciated.
    Does this make any sense and does anybody have an idea of where I could find some info about how to do this?
    Thanks much for your help. Points will be awarded.

    Thanks Klaus for the response.
    I don't want to read the parameter from the default plug, but need to access the URL parameter and display default data in my view. Let me explain the scenario:
    My Web dynpro application is called from the Portal. The Plant number is passed in the URL as:
    http://...../sap/bc/../../<Web Dynpro Application name>?PLANT_NO=0012
    I want to show Material Stock values in the view for Plant "0012". To access this value I've defined a parameter with same name (PLANT_NO) in the default startup plug of my main window. I get access to the URL parameter through this plug parameter.
    I have only ONE view embedded in this window where the Stock values are selected from table MARD for the specified plant. I want to get the plant value from URL in my WDDOINIT method to make this selection from database. I'm then binding the results to the view table UI element. My problem is that the URL parameter is read in the Default plug, but the data selection and view binding happens before in the WDDOINIT method where I don't know the plant.
    Again, I don't want to read the plug parameter, but I want to get the URL parameter (PLANT_NO) and then render the view based on the data selected for this parameter. Please let me know how this can be achieved by reading the URL parameter in WDDOINIT method (Constructor) so that it can be used subsequently in the application.
    Thanks for your help and looking for a resolution.....

    PLease provide me with some object related material.

    Hi Gourav,
    WebDynPro object is not different than ABAP Object, so if you have an idea of ABAP Object, then you can easily handle WebDynPro objects. I am sending one wiki link, hope it will help you.
