Web fonts from other Font companies than Webkit

Is it possible to use web fonts from other companies than Webkit in Adobe Muse?
When I'm doing assignments for companies that has it's specific fonts in their graphic Identity it's really important to use the same aslo on the web…
For example: I like to use Benton Sans from Fontbureau/Webtype. Or Guardian from Commercial type that alos provides web fonts.
/Jacob

Do you know if thats Adobes intention over time?
In that case it will decrease the use of this – otherwise– fantastic web tool.
To be able to use it in professional assignements it NEED to include fonts from other suppliers.
At least if you have bought and have the acutal font files.
I really like to use it!

  • Can't call B1WS web services from other machines?

    Hi Everyone,
    We have come across a strange problem that I hope you might have the answer to.
    We are using B1WS and DISERVER on a Windows 2003 Server machine.  When I run code from within the machine that has DISERVER and B1WS running on it, it works fine.  It's really nice actually.  I register a web reference to the web service, and it connects and is able to process actions on SAP objects.
    The problem I have come into is when I do the same thing, but from another machine.  This means that I create a simple web app, make a web reference to the web service which is now running on another machine, and try to use the same code that works on the other machine.  It fails from this other machine, and when I look at the inner exception, this is what it says:
    "no connection could made because target machine actively refused 127.0 0.1 80"
    I am not sure what is happening.  We have reviewed the configuration, and it seems okay.
    Another way of describing this problem, in case this isn't clear yet, is  this:
    Machine A runs DISERVER and B1WS
    Running code which uses B1WS web service being hosted in Machine A works well.
    Running code in Machine B, which uses B1WS web service being hosted in Machine A does not work at all.
    Machine A and Machine B can see each other.  They can talk on port 80, no problems.
    IIS is running on Machine A, and is working fine.
    I am not sure where to turn next.  Please share your thoughts.
    Thank you very much,
    Mike

    Greetings everyone,
    We have found a solution to this problem, and it is very much like one offered by Trinidad, except there was some confusion in my understanding.
    http://sql-patch/B1WS/webreferences/LoginService.wsdl
    Indeed, the url http://localhost/Service.asmx appears in the WSDL files, as well as the web.config.
    I changed it to http://sql-patch/B1WS/webreferences/LoginService.wsdl in the WSDL files only.  This did not work.
    We then found it in the web.config file also, and changed it to http://sql-patch/B1WS/webreferences/LoginService.wsdl also.
    The reason I was using this URL is because the files exist there.  Looking at IIS, there is no Service.asmx anywhere in the B1WS path, and this confused me.
    This got us one step further, but now a new error was showing itself -- 405 Method Not Allowed.
    It turns out that the URL we needed to change it to is this:
    http://sql-patch/B1WS/Service.asmx
    That is, we replace localhost with the name of the machine, and NOTHING else.
    This seems to have solved it for us, and is hopefully useful for you.
    Thanks all,
    Mike

  • Third party web fonts service "integration"

    Please make it possible for people who use other web fonts services than TypeKit in a more non annoying, hair puling approach.
    I use Fontdeck, Fonts.com and Linotype, not TypeKit. And I have no issue with doing it manually by pasting <link> tag into the <head> of your web pages. Upload to FTP then download the site_global.css and paste font-family CSS rules into my site_global.css stylesheet.
    All fine, if it meant only doing it one time, or when change font or style or weight etc. Then natually I accept going through the above steps again.
    But every time I make a change to my site the .css its obviously overwritten and its back to Arial. So I end up doing this 8-10 minimum a day.
    Please look to the way you have handled it in Dreamweaver. Or make checkbox in site properties telling i use “third party font service” leave the font-family tag ALONE! Or when upload to FTP promt me, asking if I want to change the font-family HTML tag in site_global.css… I know its a nasty solution. But i’m a software engineer. But even this would be better.
    Please fix it. TypeKit is okay, but their (your) font catalogue is not that great to be honest.

    Hi,
    Sorry for the late reply. We agree that a designer should be able to use any web font from any foundry/vendor/service in their Muse site. With Adobe Muse CC 2014.1 (released earlier today) we are a step closer to achieving that goal.
    If any of the services you mention above support a "self-hosting" option, please give Adobe Muse CC 2014.1 a try. This update includes support for self-hosted web fonts; to use a specific font in your Muse site, you will need to install the system font (properly licensed for desktop use) and provide the corresponding web font files (properly licensed for use on a website).
    Hope this helps.

  • Web fonts from Edge Animate and DPS

    I've read all of the existing threads on this matter and I'm still a bit confused.
    I get that typekit web fonts won't render offline. But if that is the case, how can you ever use a custom web font from Edge Animate in a DPS publication? Considering you can only use web fonts in Animate...
    We have a desktop license for this font as well. So is there a way to get my animate project to call the desktop font rather than the web font?
    Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated.
    - Dylan

    I haven’t tried it so this may be a shot in the dark but you might be able to hack into the CSS and use @font-face to call a local font.
    Check the license of the font to be sure it allows this.

  • Using more than one web font in the same text field

    I know I can do something like this when calling more than one weight in a web font:
    sym.$('copy').html('<span style="font-weight: 700;">Adobe</span> | About Us')
    And the word Adobe will be bolder than About Us. But what about using more than one font in the same text field? I tried this:
    sym.$('copy').html('<span style="font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;">UHLIG</span> | About Us')
    Now that doesn't work and I get a SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list
    I then tried
    sym.$('copy').html('<span style="font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif;">UHLIG</span> | About Us')
    and the text rendered but whatever was selected in the font menu was what got displayed.
    Is there a way around this to display two different fonts, web fonts or not, in the same field?

    Hey, ladobeugm-
    One thing to note is that you probably need to escape the quotes in your span tag.  What you have is an issue with quotation marks - for instance, all JavaScript sees is <span style="font-family: in your first string, and only sees <span style="font-family: " in your second.  Play around with escaping to see if you can get your span to work.
    Hope that helps,
    -Elaine

  • Disable every single web fonts in adobe muse and prevent it from loading open-sans:n3:all.js

    I'm using Adobe Muse 2014.2 to build a Chinese site. The audience of the site is mainly people in mainland china, and I'm using a server from Hong Kong. Recently I just tested the site, however, it was loading extremely slow. In the end I found out that the cause of the slow loading was due to a file called "open-sans:n3:all.js" that was loaded from adobe webfonts.
    Because a lot of sites are blocked in China, I think that Adobe Web Fonts (or typekit) is also blocked thus can't be loaded properly, causing the entire site to slow down.
    Is there a way to disable all the webfonts in Muse and to prevent my site from loading this file?
    Or is there a way I can host this file on my own server?
    Thanks in advance.

    This was a snapshot that my friend in China sent to me. You can see that the open-sans:n3:all.js is taking extremely long to load.
    Yet the funny thing is that I did not use any web fonts in my site. However Muse is still adding it in the code for some reason.

  • Hello. I am trying to self host Italia fonts (Book, Bold and Medium) on Adobe Muse. I purchased web fonts from Linotype that are "obfuscated" - which means the name is hidden. Apparently I also need to install system fonts. Can I install with code in muse

    Hello! I am trying to self host Italia fonts in muse. I purchased from Linotype the web fonts. But they sent obfuscated fonts and code. I need to also install as system fonts and those do not work for that. We already have different Italia fonts that we owned prior but they are not obfuscated... Is this a problem? Is there an easier way I can do this? TIA!

    Abhishek,
    Thank you for the reply. Wanted to comment on a few things.
    I reviewed the other post that you've referenced. Nothing unusual jumped out at me as something that I was not aware of. I'm running an older iMac that is in good working condition. 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 24" screen. I know this issue is fleeting, as I stated earlier typically can be corrected with a restart of the CC Desktop application (that I am always running at startup). I have not been able to determine that shutting down Muse corrects the issue. I would, at this time say it doesn't.
    I did open InDesign and see if the fonts in question, Open Sans and Open Sans Condensed, were present and usable. They were. The fonts are shown as being synched in my CC Desktop app window (even if they are not "installed" in Muse). That is expected but it may be a bug in how Muse brings in a font from those that are already synched to your CC account. I don't know enough about how that works to comment.
    And just to complicate matters, Muse seems to be working again, the fonts that is. I brought them back in and they are showing up in all locations (which there are actually three - see screen shots).
    First is primary text menu dropdown (to right of orange "Text").
    Second is if you click orange Text link. Another drop down menu appears.
    And lastly, the Text Panel to right of screen.
    I also wanted to add this extra bit of information, for what it is worth. When the issue arises and you do not get the sub-menu dropdown showing various styles of the font (italics, bold, etc.), one can use click on the missing font if you had used it previously and it is present in the "previously used font" list.
    Cheers!

  • Problem with Web-Fonts displayed on Windows PCs?

    Hi,
    I am creating my first site with Muse, and am having problems getting the web-fonts to display correctly on Windows computers. This happens with both Chrome and IE, however you can see the rendering is much worse in IE. On my Mac (that I'm creating this on, the fonts all display perfectly).
    This consistently happens across all web-fonts, currently it is using 'Comfortaa'. There are some design inconsistencies on the website still - it's a work in progress! The temporary Business Catalyst site is http://levante2.businesscatalyst.com.
    Shots from the Windows PC:
    Chrome on Windows (hard to see the imperfections given the only thing I have to save a jpg is MSPaint on this PC and the compression looks poor anyway) - effectively the problem is that lines are jagged rather than smooth:
    IE8:
    Strangely, I did some playing around with this over the weekend, and now there is one set of headers (on the 'Food' page), though I'm not entirely sure why this is ok and the rest are not?
    IE8, Dark green on light green header is correct:
    Any help would be massively appreciated! I'm tearing my hair out.

    I think what you're seeing is simply the normal (if unfortunate) variation in font rendering in different browsers and on different operating systems and OS versions. There's a multi-post blog on the Typekit site that describes all the variations caused by different rendering systems across browsers and OS'es <http://blog.typekit.com/2010/10/21/type-rendering-web-browsers/>.
    Short of converting the text to images (which has many disadvantages versus live text), I'm not aware of any way to avoid these variations.

  • FF 25 has issues on OS-X 10.8.5. It hangs sites with heavy dom manipulation + web font faces The same page is fine on FF25/Win. Is this being looked at?

    I've been having a lot of issues with Firefox 25 hard-hanging on OS-X 10.8.5. Firefox 24 worked perfectly with various sites I've had problems with recently. Firefox 25 on Windows works fine with the same sites, so does Google Chrome 30, IE9, IE10, and IE11. The hang is very specific to FF25/OSX. Is this being looked at or reported by anyone else? My co-workers are also hitting this. It seems like FF25/OSX has some sort of deadlock condition when there is heavy dom maniplation occurring via JavaScript along with the usage of Web Fonts (font-face/font family). I have to force-quit it and restart. Safe mode makes no difference. Nor does clearing site information.
    If there is any debug I can capture (such as triggering a stack dump) I am more than willing to generate it.

    Followup. Any further updates from Firefox support? This is a blocking issue at my company. We are strong Firefox advocates, but this is starting to damage Firefox's reputation here.

  • 10.4.7: Web fonts thicker after updating?

    I may just be going mad, but I could swear that after updating from 10.4.6 to 10.4.7 this morning, boldfaced fonts in various web pages I frequent (at least Slashdot, The Register and MetaFilter) appear visibly thicker and somewhat softer than before. At first glance they seem less readable than before, a feeling that may change over time, but the effect is disconcerting nonetheless.
    The effect seems to be limited to boldfaced fonts, at least I can't tell the difference with regular ones. Slashdot's story headlines and MetaFilter's story-embedded links are good examples of things that look different now.
    I'm using both Opera 9 and Safari, and both appear the same.
    After updating, I've repaired permissions, cleared caches and rebooted a number of times, but this issue remained. I'm using Automatic as the font smoothing setting (and have been all along), changing it to Medium had no effect (as I suspect that's what Automatic chooses), and since it's the recommended setting for LCD panels, I hesitate to change it into something else.
    Anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

    (This is weird, I wasn't allowed to edit my own message?)
    Addendum to the previous message: non-boldfaced fonts appear thicker and softer than before, too. I'm seeing this now after the initial boldface shock, looking closer at regular text. The effect is especially apparent with light text on a dark background, especially MetaFilter.
    However, this does seem to affect other circumstances more than some. Light colour - dark background is one, and other fonts are more susceptible than others (sans-serif more than serif, at least).

  • Muse/Typekit web font list/preview?

    Is there a specific foundry within Typekit that Muse uses to populate its list of available web fonts in the "Add Web Fonts..." menu? When I browse Typekit's site to find fonts for use in Muse the majority aren't available from within Muse. Likewise, some of the fonts available in the Muse menu are no where to be found on the Typekit site, Aguafina Script for example.
    There's actually an Adobe foundry within Typekit, which contains LOTS of fonts unavailable in Muse. What kind of sense does that make?
    It's difficult to use them in conjunction to facilitate type design. If I browse Typekit chances are the font isn't available in Muse anyways. If I browse Muse I frequently can't find the font on the Typekit site so I can preview at different sizes/weights to make a good decision regarding appearance and legibility for my viewers.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    ~Bob
    BTW, why the heck don't all the browsers use Muse's Design Mode type rendering engine? Typekit fonts are stunning when viewed in Muse's Design Mode but look like terrible every where else... even in Muse's own Preview Mode. The only exception I can find is on an iPhone which alse renders type beautifully.
    ~B

    actually was trying to make typekit fonts to work with muse, but the edgwebfont-tutorial... don't work for me...
    now i found a way. using the same tutorial and screenshots from above How to add Typekit fonts to your Muse site
    STEP 1:
    you need to have an active domain, so you can upload yr files on the web via FTP. you are going to see yr fonts online only.
    first you need to setup yr typekit-kit with yr domain.
    now select your fonts and weights you want on yr webpage
    STEP 2: Give the Typekit fonts selector names
    you need to put the selectors on the top left corner of the screen, BUT
    INSTEAD of the ".header" or ".body" selectors, you can use the normal HTML selectors, like h1, h2, p and so on. if you want, you can set more than one selector to yr font, so if for example you want to use the same font for h1 and p, you can put both selectors there. if you have italics and bold selected it going to work automatically on muse when you use the bold and italic buttons. preety cool!
    publish
    Step 3: Give your Muse text frames paragraph styles with the same names
    AT FIRST: you might do this setup on yr masterpage, so yr fonts are automatically loaded on yr sites.
    make paragraph-styles with your HTML selectors (h1, h2, p and so on), then format yr text with them on the pages.
    Step 4: Add the Typekit Javascript
    DO NOT paste the java script on yr site! this code must be in "HEAD" of the website. so you need to go to menu:
    > page > page properties
    then, paste the typekit javascript in yr "metadata".
    that's it.
    hope it helps, and sorry my english

  • Web font not displaying

    Hi,
    I installed a webfont  brandon_grotesque_regularRg and brandon_grotesquebold   http://www.skeeterz71.com/zencart/. For some reason they are not loading. Firebug shows the font there; however it is using the fallback font in my case verdana. I'm pretty sure I have the @font-face correct. Using the regular as an example:
    @font-face {
        font-family: 'brandon_grotesque_regularRg';
        src: url('web-fonts/brandon_reg-webfont.eot');
        src: url('web-fonts/brandon_reg-webfont.eot?#iefix') format('embedded-opentype'),
             url('web-fonts/brandon_reg-webfont.woff') format('woff'),
             url('web-fonts/brandon_reg-webfont.ttf') format('truetype'),
             url('web-fonts/brandon_reg-webfont.svg#brandon_grotesque_regularRg') format('svg');
        font-weight: normal;
        font-style: normal;
    Of course the fonts are located in the web-fonts folder. web-fonts folder is located in the same directory as style.css
    If you were to look at the sidebar say "Contact Us" as an example, you can see a fallback fonts is being used instead.
    I have the font declared for exampleL
    body{
    font-family: 'brandon_grotesque_regularRg', verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
    The files were generated at font squirrel and I copied/pasted the font declaration accorting to the instructions.
    So, I am at a loss why the fonts are not loading into the browser. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Contact your web host and see of they can see a reason that folder would have access blocked.
    You can also try locating the web fonts folder elsewhere and link from there, perhaps in the site root.
    I have found using fonts served from Typekit to be a lot easier than installing fonts from Font Squirrel. If you have a CC subscription you might like to try that - and you can still use Brandon Grotesque as your font.
    If youre just after one font for one website you should be able to use the free trial version of you're not a CC member.

  • Google web fonts, do they print well?

    I have a client who is redesigning his website to have google web fonts and wants me to use the same fonts for print materials, does anybody know if they cause any output problems? Or if printer providers complain about them? The fonts are True Type fonts and I am just skeptical to use since they are meant to be used for the web and there is not a Postcript file of each font I can download only True Type.
    Any comments appreciated.
    Thanks.

    http://www.google.com/fonts
    First of all, you'll see that that google has dropped web from the name.
    If you check out the fonts you'll see that many of them have more than
    255 glyphs.
    Besides, what's the big deal about fonts being truetype? Are you still
    worried about myths that were floating around 20 years ago?

  • No web fonts working in chrome...how to fix?

    Right now there is a bug in chrome where no web fonts are working...not even google ones
    I have found a few fixes....just not sure how to implement them into muse
    Fix 1
    $('body')
    .delay(500)
    .queue(
    function(next){
    $(this).css('padding-right', '1px');
    Fix 2
    "I was able to find a css-only workaround that works for me at least. I only had problems with my p elements, so that's all I selected here".
    p{
    -webkit-animation-duration: 0.1s;
    -webkit-animation-name: fontfix;
    -webkit-animation-iteration-count: 1;
    -webkit-animation-timing-function: linear;
    -webkit-animation-delay: 2s;
    @-webkit-keyframes fontfix{
    from{      opacity: 1; }
    50%{     opacity: 0.8; }
    to{     opacity: 1; }
    Fix 3
    $(document).ready(function() { if (navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf(‘chrome’) > -1) { var current_css = $(‘body’).css(‘font-family’); $(‘body’).css(‘font-family’, current_css);setInterval(function() { var current_css = $(‘body’).css(‘font-family’);$(‘body’).css(‘font-family’, current_css); }, 5000); } });
    Any chance anyone can tell me how to implement any of these fixes into a muse site....the update of chrome also has the issue in it as well

    Firefox displays the content that Google sends to it. If they send worse content to Firefox then you will need to give Google feedback about it. I believe https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/websearch is there feedback site.

  • Really ugly default web fonts

    My web fonts in Chromium look awful. The default font that shows in form posts, newspaper articles, etc. is extremely low res. I feel like there should be a font sub setting that I'm missing or something got broken. Web text italics especially are nasty.
    Fonts outside of normal web browsing look fine. System fonts, things in word processing documents, all of that looks great. I have some clear type and screen dithering and whatnot or whatever it's all called enabled, so it's not that. It's the actual font choice for default web text that's ugly. What can I do to see what's being used and how can I change it?

    I had those fonts installed from day 1 on this system more than a year ago. When the fontconfig update came around it made a lot of fonts not display properly.
    Simply installing fontconfig-infinality definitely fixed my web fonts, and restored some things to how they were before. Now I need to figure out how to adjust cleartype kinds of settings so I can make them look like how I want.
    But this is definitely better. I can see things on the internet again.
