Web Gallery Account Switch

I have a MobileMe account that has my Web Gallery already posted to it... I have switched MobileMe accounts and now I want those same published photo albums published to my NEW MobileMe account.
How can I get it to publish to this new account without having to delete them and recreating them?
Thank you.

Ryan:
Go into the System/MobileMe preference pane and sign in to the new account. Now iPhoto and iWeb will publish to your new account.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Can I publish to Web-Gallery from several Macs?

    We have several Macs in the (extended) family, all running iPhoto (iLife08 and Leopard). I have ONE .Mac account (family account; i.e. for 5 people).
    Here are a few related questions:
    1. Can each person publish to this one Web Gallery account?
    2. Is each "publisher" the owner of this specific Album on the Gallery? Or is there a "master" owner?
    3. How do I then control the sequence of the published albums?
    4. I published a series of albums on the Web Gallery; then I had to switch iLibraries (because a single one became to big) with (commercially available) iPoto Libary Manager, now the once published series is no longer visible on the web.
    Thanks for any pointers/answers/suggestions.
    Cheers,
    Veit

    Velt:
    1 -You can setup a web gallery so others can add photos to via a web browser and by email. Also they can subscribe to the gallery, i.e. download the photos to their library.
    2 -You would be the controller of the gallery.
    3 -You control the sequence of the published albums by arranging them in iPhoto in the order you want - in the left hand pane under Web Gallery. If you want just your extended family to have access then you can password/user name protect the galleries.
    4 - the galleries should not be removed from online just because you opened a different library. Open the original library, go to the web gallery and bookmark it in your browser for access regardless of which library you're running. You can confirm that the galleries are still online by going to your iDisk/Web/Sites/-gallery folder and checking for the gallery folders there.

  • Web gallery without .Mac account

    I am using the 30-day Aperture trial.
    Is it possible to make and export a web gallery without owning a .Mac account ?
    I just want to use the web gallery on my own web space.
    Ben

    Web Gallery is connected to .mac and can not be used to publish to other sites. However, you can make web pages and then export to SmugMug, Flickr, PhotoShelter etc. Web pages can also be exported to a folder on your system and then exported to your site.
    You can also use iPhoto and iWeb in conjunction with Aperture and then export your galleries to other servers.
    A little extra off topic info:
    .mac users will automatically be upgraded to the new MobileMe as soon as it becomes available.

  • Not able to create web gallery due to .Mac account settings not configured

    Hi all,
    I have been trying to contact Apple support with the below question twice but have not received a reply. Perhaps someone can help.
    I have subscribed for the .Mac trial and I am trying to create a web gallery from iPhoto.
    1.) I have selected an event.
    2.) I click the plus sign in the bottom left hand corner of the iPhoto page.
    3.) I then choose web gallery
    4.) I then get a pop up message saying that my .Mac account has not been configures correctly and that i need to go to preferences to rectify the problem.
    5.) when I click 'open .Mac preferences' I am asked to login to .Mac ( this seems strange as I am already logged in).
    6.) when I log in the login keychain pops up, when I enter my password it tells me the password is incorrect (error -128)
    So I seem to have multiple problems which seem to prevent me from creating a web gallery. I have no idea why my .Mac account is not set up correctly as the system did not ask me to set the settings when I created the trial account.
    Can anyone help ?

    LN,
    I can login to mac.com that is not the problem i think because i can login to.mac read my e-mail etc. For the charges, this is a free 60 day trial account I am working with so there should not be any charges right ?
    The first problem is that my mac account does not seem to be configured correctly ( as i said i dont know what i need to change)
    The 2nd part is that my 'login keychain' password does not seem to work. Is it an option just to delete the 'login keychain' ?
    Anyways thanks for the help I appreciate it.

  • New .Mac account no Web Gallery

    I just got a .Mac account and have been looking at the help videos regarding iPhoto, .Mac, and Web Gallery.
    The help video says there will be a Web Gallery icon in the bottom right of iPhoto beside Mail, Print and Order Prints. Well, it is not there. Does anyone know how to get the icon back or there?

    Denny:
    Go to the View->Show in Toolbar menu item and select Web Gallery and any other features you want to show in the toolbar.

  • Web gallery upload problem - the server switched to FTPS and now Bridge CS6 won't recognize it.

    I use Bridge CS6 on a Mac to create & upload web galleries directly to my website. My web server just changed and they no longer support FTP, only FTPS. When I try to upload a web gallery now, Bridge gives me the message that my username/password is incorrect. I have tested the server and can connect via Fetch so I know that it's possible to connect to the server. Is there anywhere in Bridge that allows you to change the FTP settings to allow it to recognize the FTPS? I cannot seem to find any information, I feel like there should be a simple fix and I'm probably overlooking it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Bridge is not a seperate program.  It is part of Photoshop.  That is why some users have to  launch Bridge the first time from PS to make it work.
    Not familliar with the Suite, but if there are other applications where you can launch Bridge from the program try it.
    Also, make sure you have uninstalled any Adobe trials that may cause a conflict with permissions.

  • BlackBerry Internet Service with Microsoft Outlook Web Access account

    I need to switch my 8820 to a new work account.  They use Outlook Exchange 2003, but do not support BES.  I have access via both regular desktop Outlook and also Outlook Web Access (from a different server).   I read the procedure to use BIS in KnowledgeBase KB03133.  After entering my email address and password, I get a message that it was successfully set up.  But, I get no e-mail messages delivered.  When I check  the settings, it looks like it is not using the correct server for Web Access.  However, I can find no way to manually enter it - I don't get the error message described in Step 5 where I can pick "I will provide the settings."  I try to set up via computer but I get a message that my BIS cannot be accessed via HTML and need to set up on my BB.
    Any suggestions?  Would it work with a newer phone running a newer OS?  Do I need to check with AT&T if it supports Outlook Web Access?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    Lot's of possible variables...here a several other KBs to try:

    KB02858Unable to integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access email address with a BlackBerry Internet Service account
    The trick to getting to the manual settings screen is to provide your valid email address, but an incorrect password...then, it will allow you to manually enter the settings.

  • Can't get "Send to web gallery" option to work on the iPhone.

    I have been trying to get the "Send to web gallery button" to work on my iPhone for a few weeks now. I managed to get it to work once. I was directed to delete the gallery on iPhoto ’08 and then recreate it and make sure my iPhone was not connected to wifi and wait 1 hour, it worked once… Then never again.
    I have an ongoing case open with Apple Care but there does not seem to be any definitive answer on how to get the option to work properly. One representative says that it should word fine, the other says that that feature was disabled in the last patch, (I had it working once under the current iPhone version 1.0.2 so I knew he was misinformed) I followed this Apple document and am still unable to get the feature to work: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306272
    The Apple Care representative told me that the official Apple doc listed above was incorrect and that there was a better way to get the gallery to work and directed me to a Mac World Mac 911 article to resolve the issue http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/mac911/2007/08/iphonetowebgallery/index.php
    I insisted that this was a work around and that the actual “send to web gallery” button should display on the iPhone the Apple Care representative told me that I was incorrect and that the Mac 911 article was the only way to get the option to work.
    I actually met and spoke with the author Christopher Breen last weekend, and he agreed that this was a “work around” and that the "send to web gallery option on the iPhone should work. All I had to do was insure that I had my dot Mac account set up on the iPhone, iPhoto ’08 installed, a web gallery created in iPhoto and the option “Allow photo uploading by email” checked and published and all should be good in the world. Unfortunately, I just can’t seem to get it to work?
    I am not trying to “bash” Apple I would just like to get this option to work properly. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get this option to work?

    It seems to be an ongoing issue the last couple of days..there's a few posts already discussing it in the forum. I found that if I sent the photos from my verizon acct on the iphone, it uploaded to the gallery fine..so it's a .mac account problem i think. Try it through another acct and I don't think you'll have a problem. It had always worked fine for me sending from my mac account until this weekend.

  • Web gallery still not working.

    The web gallery feature is still non-functional. I used to use it all the time. Suddenly a few days ago I noticed that it simply does not work anymore. I highlight and event, click web gallery, it creates a web gallery in the left sidebar of iphoto. The little progress circle turns for about 15 seconds, then suddenly the web gallery from the sidebar disappears and it as if I never clicked on the web gallery button. All my old we galleries are gone. I tried deleting iphoto prefs and deleting to _gallery folder from my idisk. No luck. When I try publishing a movie in iMovie to the web gallery, everything seems to proceed correctly. It compresses and uploads. The when I click the link provided, I get Apple's version of error 404: no such website.

    Ben:
    See if you can upload a file, any type will do, to the Sites folder on your iDisk via the Finder. I had a similar problem. When I tried uploading a file to the Sites folder or any of its subfolders I would get an error message. I reported it to the iWeb and .Mac feedback sites. It went away for a while and then came back that same day and then went away. Apple did get back to me and checked my account. They reported all was well. If you do get an error you may have a similar to mine but one that's not correcting itself. Report you problems to:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/mac/tm.html

  • Safari Not Able to Open .Mac Web Gallery

    This is a very unexpected error. A friend sent me his web gallery link and Safari is not able to open the page. An error message appears:
    "This browser is incompatible with .Mac Web Gallery.
    We support the following browsers:
    Mac OS X
    Safari 2.0 or later (requires Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later)
    Firefox 1.5 or later"
    Now that is very unexpected because I'm using OS X 10.5.1 and Safari 3.0.4. Wouldn't you know that I can launch it just fine using Firefox. I don't want to use Firefox and thought I would be able to use an Apple product (Safari) to actually open Apple technology (web gallery).
    This is the only issue I've experienced after Leopard upgrade and the most annoying. I've provided Safari Bug feedback, but I don't expect a response.
    I'm looking for someone out there to help me through this issue. Otherwise, I hope Apple is listening. Don't give me a reason to switch back to FireFox.

    Hi,
    From previous postings here it seems to be a problem with the .Mac Gallery rather than Safari. Anecdotal reports seem to suggest there is insufficient bandwidth on those servers and when they get bogged down they mis-report the error message you saw.
    Check in the [.Mac Web Gallery|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1199] forum to see if they have some more concrete information.

  • A workaround for Aperture users to use .Mac Web Gallery

    As a user who recently switched to Aperture - I was hugely disappointed seeing some amazing new photo-related features in iLife '08 not available for Aperture users. Let alone the cash for purchasing software suites, I can't convince myself switching back to iPhoto for a single feature. So I googled and searched around...
    Some pre-requisite for the workaround: You must have iLife '08, Aperture and .Mac installed.
    _*Solution 1*_
    Create an album in Aperture that contains the images you want to upload to your .Mac Web Gallery. In iPhoto '08, create an empty library, then File > Show Aperture Library, choose the album and import images from there.
    The downside of this is the images are your Versions in preview quality.
    _*Solution 2*_
    Export Versions from Aperture and import the images to iPhoto and perform the upload.
    _*Solution 3*_
    For users building websites in iWeb, I have seen threads that one could use the media browser in iLife suite to perform similar result but it also limits to the preview quality of Aperture.
    I would have to say even the workaround is hugely disappointed but I can't see any other solutions at the moment. I couldn't recall my last ocassion on having such disappointment for Apple's software development.

    Apple really needs to rev. Aperture so it sends photos directly to the new .Mac Web Galleries.
    Everyone needs to go here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html
    And voice there opinion there to get this added to Aperture.
    Thanks, Scott K.

  • Font selection view control in Web Gallery

    LR4.1 RC2
    I wanted to be able to change the font type from the UI panel using a font select popup.
    This control really only seems to exist in the inbuilt edit modes (eg: id plate and watermark) so I have tried a workround which seems to work OK so far. Maybe it will help someone else out working with webengines.
    Mac/OSX only at this stage - good source file in Windows may be font.inf but would require a bit of parsing or get a folder listing somehow.
    Basically I read in the contents of the fonts.list file - which appears in the OSX fonts folders - and then massage the contents to get a raw list of the fonts.
    This raw list is then read into a lua table and consumed by the UI popup control.
    Should there be an obvious way that I haven't seen then just give me time to find a banana to eat ... anyway here goes -
    Changing the font type for the cell index numbers.
    Grid cells use cellIndex to give the photo number and in my webengine the css class is .itemNumber
    Data Model references -   Note:   %s is important for select to work - if %q is used select will work but font won't change ( %q adds quotes to the string ).
                ["appearance.itemNumber.font"] = function() return string.format( "%s", nonCSS.itemNumberFontSize .. "px " .. nonCSS.itemNumber.font ) end,
                ["nonCSS.itemNumberFontSize"] = 60,
                ["nonCSS.itemNumber.font"] = "inherit",
                fontlistpath = LrPathUtils.child('/Library/Fonts','')    -- OSX Default fonts
    Code just prior to LR UI Views -
            deffonts = templatepath .. "/pgresources/" .. 'osxdeffont.txt'      -- templatepath is the root path of the webengine - this is the tweaked OSX fonts.list file
            function readFontsFile( deffonts )
                local fileLines = io.lines( deffonts )
                ff3 = {}
                for line in io.lines(deffonts) do
    Filter lines here ...
    eg:   -
                    line = string.sub(line, 17)   -- remove 1st 16 chrs        (/Library/Fonts//Osaka.ttf)
                    line = string.gsub(line, "(.ttf)", "")
                    local kline = line
                       local vline = line
                       table.insert(ff3, { title =  kline ,value = vline })
                end
            end
    LR UI View for font select -
                f:popup_row {
                    title = "Font family :",
                    bindingValue = "nonCSS.itemNumber.font",
                    items =  ff3,
                    bindingEnabled = "appearance.itemNumber.display",   -- control should be disabled if display checkbox false
                    tooltip = "Choose wisely Dave!",
    Using this method is not perfect but gives a good selection of fonts - I found that to improve the success rate the default font file was copied into the webengine
    resources folder and tweaked. eg:  the default file gives Brush Script.ttf but I needed Brush Script MT to work, similarly with Arial Rounded Bold which needed changing
    to Arial Rounded MT Bold
    Basically to find the correct descriptions you could do far worse than to use the ones in the edit selections used by the ID Plate/watermarking features.
                Well there you go ...
    As an aside I did try an undocumented control which on double click popped up a system font selection dialog (the whole nine yards) but  couldn't get it to link to the css class so I didn't persist - not a good idea to use undocumented controls but can be fun to play with.
        f:font_picker {
            font = "Copperplate",     -- showed font as highlighted when picker opened.
            width = 80,
            value = "Arial",    -- appeared on control (title ??) - this value only changed according to the font selected after double-clicking on another hidden control (f:image_well)
            bindingValue = "nonCSS.itemNumber.font",  -- linkage didn't work
    Again, unless I missed it, it would be really good to have the font_picker documented and working for the web gallery views.  Fonts seem to be a murky area -
    probably accounts for the hassles I am getting with the watermarking feature as well.
    Update :
    If the font doesn't work try using the PostScript name as a value which invariably works.
    eg: Handwriting - Dakota  will not work but Handwriting-Dakota will.
         Arial Bold will not work but Arial-BoldMT will.

    I don't think that there is any option to set the default view in the web album. If anyone has found an option to do this, then I will like to know as well.
    Quite a lot of the settings in web album seams to be "hard coded" and only a few settings are available for users to control.

  • How to improve AP2.0 Web Gallery Quality/Functionality for photographers

    Hi,
    I'm a pro photographer.
    I thought AP2.0 plus a (dot)mac account would offer an easy way for my clients to proof images in password protected web galleries and to download images as well. The resulting functionality is poor in my opinion. Is there anything I can do within Aperture or (dot)mac to improve the following problems?
    1) Why is the image quality of the web gallery slide show so poor? No sensible client would accept looking at proof images of this low quality. Even flickr is better.
    2) Why is there only one download file size, i.e. the original size? In other words, the original file is almost always too large for most web client purchases. Why can't the client choose a smaller version. Even flickr is better, offering several download sizes all based on the original upload.
    3) Since the export functionality within Aperture allows for numerous choices of dpi and pixel ratio to export images, why is this same functionality not there for publishing web galleries?
    It seems obvious that photographers would want to publish web galleries with exactly the same control that we can export images to disk or flickr. Even within the Apple Mail application we have choices of quality and pixel dimension for the attachments.
    What am I missing? Please help.

    When you create a Web Gallery in AP2, there is a set up prefernce to let viewers download an Optimized, Actual Size or Optimized and Master Image. (You can only pick one per gallery it seems.)
    However, I think the gallery design is rather clunky, too many design options are left open to the viewer, and not the photgrapher. I prefer the web pages and web journals for customer proofing using the image number. They email me their choices, and then using Aperture, I can order prints based on their selection. Not the simplist way, but I would not want clients downloading my images, anyway, as you suggest. Why would they buy a print if they can just download a jpg themselves?

  • Using a shared photo in Web Gallery

    My wife and I share a computer and we each have a .Mac account. However, all of our pictures are in iPhoto under her login.
    I would like to publish a Web Gallery using my .Mac account and photos shared from her iPhoto library.
    However when I include a shared photo in the Web Gallery it imports it into my iPhoto Library, giving me two copies of the same photo, one in her iPhoto library and another in mine, thereby duplicating the photo which is not what I want.
    Is there a way to use a shared Photo in Web Gallery and maintain the relationship to the original photo and not duplicate the picture?

    Roger
    No, because as far the the Mac is concerned, it's not yours to Share until it's in your Library.

  • Web Gallery not showing up in iPhoto

    I've set up multiple albums through the web gallery feature and successfully synced them to my .mac account. The problem: one particular gallery shows up on the .mac account but not in iPhoto anymore so there is no way to manage it/add to it/delet it??
    thanks

    Jim:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. By not showing up do you mean the gallery is no longer listed in under the Gallery section on the left of the pictures in the gallery are showing a blank window with an "!" in the middle?
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
