Web Gallery (from iPhoto) access after published.

I have created a webgallery with iPhoto and wish to put it online so several people can view it. However, I ran into the following...
In Webgallery, settings, album viewable by, (either everyone, me or edit username/password). Let's say I wanted to give 2 or perhaps 6 people access.
I could create one standard username and password and share with everyone, but ideally I want to give everyone their own username/password, and then depending on various albums give a subset of them access to future web albums.
I can't do that. If I check one person, that person only has access. If I go back and check another, the first loses access, and you can't shift/click to give 2 or more access.
Is this possible?
Thank you very much.

The short answer is no. See this old thread:

  • Web Gallery from iPhoto - Help

I have published 3 albums through web gallery from iPhoto. For a few days, I would see in the left panel, under "Web Gallery", the name of each gallery, and the status, sync, being sync, etc. Suddenly, this bar only displays one, the other two are still accessible through .mac, I can see them, I also can see them in the preference area under web gallery, but again, they are not being displayed on the left organizer bar, so I cannot drag and drop, or see the pics there and edit when I want.
I do not know why would one published album be displayed, and the other don't..
    Any clues??
    Thanks

In the tab "web gallery" in the iPhoto preferences I can see the title of all three albums. In fact, I tell it to check for new photos, and for few second you can see them reappear in the organizer bar on the left, with the circling wheel like it is being synchronized, but they disappear fast, and forever gone!!. Again, I can see in the copy of iDisk in my desktop that the galleries are there, and in the .mac website, I can see them. But not in iPhoto.

  • Web Gallery from iPhoto

Is anyone having the problem of creating a web gallery from an Event in iPhoto but not getting a picture for that gallery and inability to scroll through images in gallery? When I click on the gallery I get all the images, I am just not getting the one image to represent each gallery. I am publishing a web gallery from an iPhoto event and getting a gray image with a lock in the right lower corner. Why am I not getting a photo from the album, one that you can scroll like I am suppose to? Please help.

  • Can't subscribe to Web Gallery from iPhoto 6

I've created a Web Gallery with iPhoto '08. People can view it from multiple current browsers is OS X and Windows, and can download the individual pictures or the entire album. People with Windows and people with iPhoto '08 can subscribe to the Web Gallery, but people with iPhoto 6 cannot subscribe.
Subscribing in iPhoto 6 returns an error:
There is a problem updating the subscription for the Photocast: "Abouaf/Pizante Family Cruise '07." The Photocast cannot be found on the .Mac server.
Is it possible that the special characters in the name of the Web Gallery (/ and ')are causing aproblem in iPhoto 6? Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution?
    Thanks.

    Mike:
I don't believe that iPhoto 6 supports web galleries. When I tried to subscribed to my web gallery with my iPhoto 6 library it reported that there were no photos in the photocast section of the iDisk. It's looking for a photocast, not a web gallery. They are located in different folders. The galleries in the web/sites/_gallery folder and the photocast in the web/sites/iPhoto folder.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can't access web gallery from iphoto

I've been a .mac member for a long time. I can log onto it - password is no problem.
When I tried to upload photos today, an annoying message window opened saying : Log in; become a new member; no thanks.
I press login and the screen pops up - you're already logged in. Then nothing - the photos don't upload and it drops me off back at iphoto. I went into .mac to see if the photos did upload - nothing. I got another message window saying check the system preferences for .mac and when I do, I'm logged in. What gives?

try quitting iPhoto and deleting your iPhoto preferences file ("your username" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iphoto.plist). When you relaunch iPhoto a fresh default preference file will be created - set any user preferences that you want changed and try again

  • Trying to publish a web gallery using iPhoto '08 version 7.1.1.

I have recently been getting the following message while trying to publish a web gallery through iPhoto:
Request to the server http://publish.me.com failed.
And all the pictures go "pending" without ever getting published. My mobileme membership is current and I make sure I am online while I try to publish. I have published web galleries before, this has happened only recently.
    Any ideas?

I'm receiving the same issue. I haven't tried to upload a new gallery for awhile. The only change (although a big one) I've made to my system since was upgrading to Snow Leopard. I'm still running iPhoto '08 and my mobileme account is current.

  • Small changes to a web gallery slows iPhoto down to a crawl

I am using iPhoto 7.1.1, the latest update at this time. I have a large number of web galleries published through iPhoto to .Mac. The latest is about 150 photos from Christmas. I originally published without changing the photo titles. I have been correcting that plus adding a few more photos. Any small change in a web gallery seems to be immediately published and that slows iPhoto down to a crawl. I have the fastest connection I can get from ATT's UVerse. Is there any way to turn off this immediate updating so I can make all of my changes then publish after that? I have been searching through the help files, Apple support, and the web and can't find anything. One poster on this site said his updates don't transfer until he hits the publish icon to the right of the gallery name. That's not how mine works. It automatically publishes at the slightest change. Others seem to say it is automatic for them as it is for me. It really is almost impossible to make lots of small changes to a large gallery (like adding descriptive titles) the way it is now.

This "feature" also makes my nuts. I hate software that does these "automatic" processes, without a way for the user to alter them, or turn them off. I have been trying to change file names in one album that contains a number of images drawn from other albums that have been published to my web gallery. I do not wish the names to be changed in every album, nor in the web galleries published. But it all seems to be automatic. The name change first is applied automatically to the other albums that contain that image, and then automatically changed in every web gallery.
I have posted these comments here: iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback.
I suggest everyone that is concerned with these issues do the same. If we are lucky, Apple will soon update the software. These changes seem so easy to achieve one would think, and they would add a lot of control to the use of the program.

  • Can you create a web gallery from Stacks?

    Hi.
I have several stacks totalling 108 images.
How do I create a web gallery that shows the images, not the picks from Stacks? Is that even possible?
    Thanks,
    Scott

I would keyword the stacks in question then build either an Album or a Project from the keyworded images, and a web gallery from that.

  • Can I publish to Web-Gallery from several Macs?

We have several Macs in the (extended) family, all running iPhoto (iLife08 and Leopard). I have ONE .Mac account (family account; i.e. for 5 people).
Here are a few related questions:
    1. Can each person publish to this one Web Gallery account?
    2. Is each "publisher" the owner of this specific Album on the Gallery? Or is there a "master" owner?
    3. How do I then control the sequence of the published albums?
    4. I published a series of albums on the Web Gallery; then I had to switch iLibraries (because a single one became to big) with (commercially available) iPoto Libary Manager, now the once published series is no longer visible on the web.
    Thanks for any pointers/answers/suggestions.
    Cheers,
    Veit

    Velt:
1 -You can setup a web gallery so others can add photos to via a web browser and by email. Also they can subscribe to the gallery, i.e. download the photos to their library.
2 -You would be the controller of the gallery.
3 -You control the sequence of the published albums by arranging them in iPhoto in the order you want - in the left hand pane under Web Gallery. If you want just your extended family to have access then you can password/user name protect the galleries.
4 - the galleries should not be removed from online just because you opened a different library. Open the original library, go to the web gallery and bookmark it in your browser for access regardless of which library you're running. You can confirm that the galleries are still online by going to your iDisk/Web/Sites/-gallery folder and checking for the gallery folders there.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Accessing .mac web gallery from Apple TV-2

Do you have to enter the whole url to access a .mac web gallery? if not, how much has to be entered?
The Apple TV cries out for a keyboard to enter passwords, etc.

Ok, which part after which /?
    I have a web gallery called saw1
When I access that gallery on the web, it comes up as:
    http://gallery.mac.com/seanwalmsley#100115
However, when I enter saw1, that doesn't work. Nor does seanwalmsley#100115 or even seanwalmsley/saw1
    Any ideas?

  • How to auto update a web gallery from an iphoto album?

how do you set-up an iphoto album to automatically update a web gallery album?
so if i add a new photo to an existing album on my computer that has a corresponding web gallery album that web gallery will know to add that photo
i'm trying to keep the web gallery album in sync with the same named album on my computer

That is not a current feature of iPhoto - you will need to add the photo to both the album and the web gallery album
To suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

  • If I publish a web diary from IPhoto to iCloud  will it  then be public, so that strangers can find it and read it.

If I publish my projects from IPhoto to ICloud to save them, will they then be public, so that strangers can read them?

I am not a security expert and cannot quantify risk. I do not put anything on the Internet that I do not wish to see on the front page of a newspaper.
Having said that, I do use secure connections from some on-line services (banks, for example). Candidly, I do not completely trust any system to be completely secure (witness the recent Target hack).
