Web gallery is tied to another "iPhoto"

I upgraded the hard drive on my Macbook and got everything back to the way I had it. But when I opened I photo, I noticed that my web gallery wasn't listed. Seems the only way for me to unpublish my current web gallery is reinstall my old hard drive and do it from there. Is there another way to do it, or make the iPhoto on the new hard drive see my current web gallery? I'm sure the same thing happened on with my iWeb as well. Thanks in advance.

BlckChns:
Did you have the .Mac account setup on the MacBook before you copied over the Pictures folder and ran iPhoto on it? Doing so might have let iPhoto recognize the web gallery and kept it. (Guessing here). Are all of the other albums listed along with keywords, etc? Do you have an album in the library with the same photos and name as the gallery?
If you still have access to the older HD and can do another copy, you might try setting up the .Mac account again, move the current iPhoto Library to the desktop and copy the iPhoto Library from the old HD into the Pictures folder on your MacBook. I'd also first download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Now launch iPhoto and see if the library is totally intact.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I've set up multiple albums through the web gallery feature and successfully synced them to my .mac account. The problem: one particular gallery shows up on the .mac account but not in iPhoto anymore so there is no way to manage it/add to it/delet it??

  • Photos uploaded to my Web Gallery show up where in iPhoto??

I created a Web Gallery and asked my family to add to it - which they have done. I see the photos in iPhoto under the 'MOBILEME GALLERY' in the sidebar - but they are not in any of the Events. When I try to manually add the photo, it says it's already in the library?!!?
I have tried labeling the photos and then finding them via an iPhoto search, but they just aren't there.
Where does iPhoto put photos added via Web Gallery??

Yes - that was one of the 1st things I tried. I also gave the photos specific keywords only used on those photos, "yellow" for example. Searching photos for any photo having the keyword "yellow" shows no results.
If I right click on the photos in the MOBILEME GALLERY sidebar of iPhoto and click 'Show File' - it opens a folder named 'Jan 18, 2008', and the photos are sitting there.
Dragging the actual files to a new gallery gives the same warning, that the files are already in the library.

  • Removing a web gallery album, even after the iphoto album has been deleted.

I have just created an Album of photos in iphoto, and then published the album to the web gallery. I was able to view the album via the web and my wife did too on a windows based laptop. I then went back to add 2 more photos to the album in iphoto, then again went back to see if they were uploaded too. One was and one wasnt, then the second one did after a couple of minutes. Now I have deleted the albums I created in iphoto, but I still have the link to go to the web gallery site and the album is still online with 24 photos. How can I remove the photos from my online gallery.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I'm still in honeymoon stage but of course loving my new imac. and .mac account.

I think your best bet is to post your questions on the iPhoto discussions. More people will see them there.
I have been using the web albums for some time. I have merely started iPhoto, then select the web gallery album you wish to delete. Click on the "Web Gallery" icon located at the bottom right hand side of the window. When it opens click on "advanced". You will see the option to hide the gallery on the web.
Now you should be able to go back to the album in iPhoto and delete it.

  • Web Gallery Posting from Different iPhoto 7.0.1 Libraries

I use the program iPhoto Library Manager so that I can have more than one iPhoto library -- one for cooking, one for the garden, one for a travel trip, etc.
I've posted a couple galleries using the "Web Gallery" feature from my cooking iPhoto library. Works fine: both galleries show up on the first page.
Do I understand correctly that if I posted a gallery from, say, the garden iPhoto library, that it would try to synchronize the galleries at dot mac with those in the currently open iPhoto library (garden) and, because the first two galleries were in the cooking library, it would probably delete them?

    mbabc:
No, I don't think that would happen. I've posted two galleries, each from a different library. When I posted the second it did not delete the first. It just added the second to the gallery in my .Mac account.

  • Web Gallery from iPhoto

Is anyone having the problem of creating a web gallery from an Event in iPhoto but not getting a picture for that gallery and inability to scroll through images in gallery? When I click on the gallery I get all the images, I am just not getting the one image to represent each gallery. I am publishing a web gallery from an iPhoto event and getting a gray image with a lock in the right lower corner. Why am I not getting a photo from the album, one that you can scroll like I am suppose to? Please help.

In the tab "web gallery" in the iPhoto preferences I can see the title of all three albums. In fact, I tell it to check for new photos, and for few second you can see them reappear in the organizer bar on the left, with the circling wheel like it is being synchronized, but they disappear fast, and forever gone!!. Again, I can see in the copy of iDisk in my desktop that the galleries are there, and in the .mac website, I can see them. But not in iPhoto.

  • .mac web gallery images from iPhoto

Is any one having this problem? When you create a web gallery from an Event in iPhoto and you go to the My Gallery section each gallery of photos does not have an image, it is just gray with a gray image. It is suppose to have an image from the gallery and when you scroll over it you see all the images. It is not working for me?
    Any ideas?
    Donje

When you move the cursor over the gallery it should show the various files located insdie, i.e. skimming. What happens when you click on one of the galleries? Does it open and display properly? Do you only have one gallery? Try creating a second test gallery of a couple of photos and try again.

  • Issue Updating Photo Names in Web Gallery

There is a sync issue with Web Galleries when the photo name is updated in iPhoto while another update is occurring simultaneously. The changes made in iPhoto are lost.
The 7.0.2 Update does not fix this issue.
It seems there should be the option to "update now" and make the web gallery look just like the iPhoto version.
    Anyone else have this issue?

    pschlampp:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The syncing works correctly for me. Try clearing out the iPhoto Cache folders that are in your User/Library/Caches folder and delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist that's in the User/Library/Preferences folder. See if that will let you update titles as intended.

  • IWeb Link to Web gallery

Hi everyone, my question is, is there a way to create a web gallery link in the link header of iWeb? I find this confusing that web gallery and iWeb don't have an option to link up. The gallery in iWeb is good, but don't have the same features that web gallery does. Since it is all hosted in the same place, it should be easy. I have HTML links in my blog now for it, but it isn't global. I have to insert an HTML link in each post. Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
    Jim

well i suppose the way it's meant to be done is to make a new blank page (calling it web gallery or whatever), press web widget and put in your web gallery albums one by one. each album has a little mini slideshow going on (and skims) and clicking on that takes you to the web gallery album proper. the problem (as far as i'm concerned) is that by making the web widgets you are making your own web gallery index page which is not as nice as the actual web gallery index page which you are bypassing.
or you could make a blank page (again calling it web gallery or whatever), leave it blank, publish it, and then edit the code so that it diverts straight to your web gallery index page. i don't know how to write code so i just copied the code on the index page and changed the destination to the web gallery address rather than the welcome page. this seems to work well. and if you know what you're doing i suppose to could also get the web gallery to open in another browser window.
or you could make a blank page (again calling it web gallery or whatever), and insert an html widget with code to divert to the web gallery. the difficulty with this is then when someone clicks on web gallery (or whatever you have called it) in the navigation menu, you then see the blank page for a fraction of a second.
anyway, i don't really know what i'm doing....i'm just trying stuff out!

  • Web Gallery duplicating photos

I seem to have a consistent problem of photo duplicating themselves when I add new photos to a Web Gallery. The duplications don't show up on the actual Web gallery but are present within iPhoto, for example iPhoto says there are 96 images and the Web Gallery says 73. This problem only occurs when I add images to an existing Web Gallery and not when creating a new Web Gallery from selected images or albums. If you delete the 'dupe' all instances of the same image are deleted. Anyone else having this problem? any ideas to fix it?

My gallery/iphoto wish list is to have this solved and then to allow the gallery albums to have sub albums within them. Im talking 1600 thumbnail photos per student, 21 students!
This is a user forum and Apple does not monitor or respond here - to provide feedback/suggestions to Apple go to the iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
As to your duplication issue - I have no idea what you are asking
Yes my gallery looks right except I having trouble putting my lead photo on the album cover.
I think you want to change the key photo - to do this open the web gallery in iPhoto (click on it in the source pane - the left hand list) and find the photo you want as the key photo and drag it to the little thumbnail at the upper left of the window to the left of the gallery name

  • Downloaded Web Gallery Photos ? (Confused)

I'm using iPhoto '06. When I subscribe to a friend's Web Gallery ( created with iPhoto '08) the photos are d/l'd into a smart folder in my source list. Two questions: 1. Why are the movies from his digital still camera not d/l'd as well into this folder ? 2. Once d/l'd into the smart folder, why can't I then move these photos into my Library ?
    Thanks,
    JJ

    Terence,
The problem is this: Once the particular web gallery is subscribed to using iPhoto '06, the pictures show up in a folder with the Photocast logo in MY source list. These photos are then not automatically added to the Source lists' Library, they only appear in the Photocast folder. I cannot select all and then drag and drop these photos into my Library. My question is why ?
For example: Should the owner of the gallery decide to delete the gallery, I no longer have those photos as the Photocast folder will disappear and I have never had the ability to put them in my Library.
(All permisssions have been granted by the creator), that's not the problem.

  • Problem with Web Gallery (firewall issue??)

    I have the following problem:
When I upload a webgallery from my office, everything works fine.
When I try the same thing from home, it doesn't work. I get a can't connect to .mac error.
    What I also found out:
Looking at my .mac preferences from the system preferences panel works at home and at the office.
Looking at the web gallery tab under preferences in iphoto works ONLY at the office. At home I get a time out eventually.
Anyone have an idea? I do have a rather transparent network on both places.
    Thanks!

  • How do I disable Download Option on .Mac Web Gallery

I created my pages on .Mac Web Gallery with iweb from my iphoto albums yesterday. At that time I chose to enable viewers to download these photos. I have changed my mind and now want to disable the downloading option. How do I do this with out having to delete and then upload the pages all over again.

If you created the gallery in Iphoto open iphoto, select the gallery, click on "settings" at the bottom, make the changes and re-publish.

  • Aperture Web Gallery Uploaded to .Mac Site, can't find

Well, I uploaded my web gallery that I made in Aperture by clicking on the upload to web gallery button in aperture. It loaded them to .Mac but it's not like iPhoto 08 where you can easily find the gallery and email it to friends or change anything. It just dumps them online, and gives a url, but it doesn't link to your .Mac page under web gallery and so if you don't copy and paste the url that aperture gives you after you upload, then your screwed. I know the url, but my question is:
How do I put up a web gallery like they do in iPhoto 08, where I can just click a button and email the gallery, or email it, change the page, and all that neat stuff that Steve Jobs did in his speech? Do I have to get iPhoto in order to do all of that?
    Thanks,
    Lainey

Yes, it's an iPhoto '08 feature that they were demo'ing, not an Aperture feature.

  • Web gallery nightmare

I am trying to publish and manage my first web gallery, but controlling it through iPhoto is a complete nightmare. Every time I try to delete photos from the gallery, it DUPLICATES them. The more photos I delete at one go, the more copies of each one it makes. What started off as a gallery of 250 or so is ballooning towards 1000 and I am trying to REDUCE it. I feel like Mickey in Fantasia. I have quit iPhoto and relaunched it, but all the duplicates are still there. I have of course stopped synchronisation to the online gallery to prevent the duplicates appearing there. How is this supposed to work - am I missing something? I am trying to edit the gallery in the version listed in iPhoto under 'WebGallery'.

Change the titles to the caption before creating the gallery. Or you can add the captions to the Description field in the Info pane at the bottom of the left hand pane (the blue "i" button) and then use this Applescript to automatically replace the title with the description before creating the gallery. Be sure to read all of the comments about the script as there is a error that has to be corrected - very easy however.
