Web Games for Kids?

I am building a website for raising awareness of Childhood Cancer. We want a section on this site that is for kids and will contain games for kids. I have looked and most games I find are low quality or not really kid friendly. I found some that may work but they are premium games from Code Canyon. As I am donating my time and hosting for this site I cannot afford to pay for the games.
Does anyone have any recommendations for games that are kid friendly and decent quality that I can freely put onto this site? (I don't mind adding credit for the game.) Of course this is a BC site so all code must be client side. I would prefer to keep it ad free if possible.
Thank You!

In that situations it difficult to work with an external drive attached.

So that shouldn't be a problem

I would LOVE to hear your comments!

Hi - Just checked out your link.
I like the video - is it representitive of the games performance on a mobile device?  If so it looks like it maintains a nice frame rate.
I also like the transitions and effects you've added.

  • Best remote multiplayer games for kids

    Hello,
I have a cousin who is 6, she is allowed to use her parents iPad, and managed to find games to play, checkers, some other pretty simple games.  She is only 6.  I have an iPhone and a MacBook.  I would like to find some game that we can play remotely.  Any suggestion on what category and where to look for games that are remote play between two iOS users or one iOS and one OS X user?  And what are good simple games for a 6 year old.  I am happy to be bored playing a game as simple as tci-tac-toe, so to me it doesnt matter what the game is.

I have the same dliemma. Daughter 8, son 6 - 2 new itouches for xmas - one library , my iPad, wife's iPhone ??
I was intending on just keeping one library (this does contain music with explicit lyric content etc) and manage their music via separate playlists.
As far as accounts and restrictions go, I was going to set them up with their own itunes account (using mail addresses only I can use). Load the account up with a voucher each.
The restrictions I was going to apply at the iPod (rather than the account) using a PIN I know - this way you can limit Safarii browsing (i.e. turn it off), youtube, and the age limit to the apps they can install and run - and the movie ratings allowed etc.
Happy to hear other ideas though - I'm intending on setting this up BEFORE they get them.

  • ?Games for kids (8yr) on PlayStation Network?

This community thing is a pain in the ****** - is this really the only way to get a question answered?
We have a PS3 that we use mostly as a DVD player, sometimes for games. My son is 8 and getting to the point where he's more and more interested in video games. He just bought Minecraft from the PlayStation Network, and we were thinking about buying a PSN gift card for Christmas so he can get creative mode and some skins, etc. I was wondering if there's a easy way to also find out if/which games are appropriate for younger kids on PSN. There's no sort category for game age/rating. Also, can the PSN credit only be used for downloading games directly to the PS3, or could he use his credit to buy a hard-copy game?

Hi MatthewESO, sorry to hear about what happened. Our colleagues at PlayStation are actually better equipped to respond to your PlayStation concern. Please feel free to contact them at https://support.us.playstation.com/. I hope this helps. - Charlie

  • My game center won't let me in, have used correct email and itunes password, DOB and location....help want to get a game for kids

Hi, I need to figure out why my game center on iPad won't let me in, does it have anything to do with spyware?

No, but you don't need Game Center to get a game, you go to the App Store on your iPad.

    Hi, cgeuss1621 -
...i guess the page is gone.
The link to the bungie site worked for me. Here's the supplemental page for it for the downloads -
    http://source.bungie.org/get/
...i was wondering if it would be possible to run marathon on snow leopard or if you can it off the disc
No OS 9 program can be run directly in any version of OSX. OSX 10.4 and earlier can use OS 9 as Classic, which provides an environment in which many OS 9 programs can be run; however, any program which needs direct access to the machine's hardware (such as many games do) will not run well, if at all, in Classic.
Both Snow Leopard and Leopard do not support Classic at all.

  • HT201304 Looking to limit time for kids

Looking to limit time (video, games, etc...) for each individual kid on the iPad.  We noticed you can do this on the kindle fire and really hope that we can do this in the iPad.

the only way I know is through settings/general/restrictions
If the games use the internet, you can set internet access restrictions within your router settings. You'll have to refer to the router manufacture web site for support on that one.

  • Was playing game for months. Tonite, I went to play and it started me back as a new user. How do I find my player info and continue playing my origional game??

Was playing game for months, when I turned ipad on tonite and went to continue playing, it started me as a new user. My old achievements are still in game, but can only view them as the game recognizes me as a new user. How can I retrieve my player info to continue where I left off in game?

If I bought a new iPad and wanted to continue as on the old iPad, I would setup the new iPad from a backup of the old iPad, thereby transferring everything from old to new.
Exactly, a full backup of the previous device would contain all the app workfiles that stored the current state of the game.
I'm thinking if your kids got ahold of the iPad and decided to start with a new/fresh character, it may not be possible to go back. Given that the device is not altogether geared for multiuser usage (Apple would rather everyone got their own), many games don't support multiple users, besides those on other devices when in networked multiplayer mode.
But hopefully they will answer and set the record straight. While you wait may want to interrogate the infractors on what they specifically did so you can provide details to the maker if they need them.

Can be either iCloud or iTunes depending on where you chose to do your backups to.
I'm not sure iCloud stores everything. Even iTunes states that iCloud "Backs up the most important data..." whereas locally there will be "A full backup..."

  • Best way to develop flash games for desktop + mobile, today

    Hi
It has been a nice run of about 7 or 8 years now that we have developed Flash browser based games for the web exclusively. Of course with the ubiquity of mobile devices, things have changed. Clients are starting to demand, almost assume, that games will work in the browser - on the desktop and on their tablets.
Putting aside the whole discussion of using an HTML5/JS solution instead, we're sticking with Flash for the next project and need to figure out the best way to get it to run on the desktop browser and on the iPad, while maximizing code re-use.
Given the current state of technologies today, what is the best path? This game will be a 2D side-scroller type game, and development will be done mainly with bitmap graphics (as opposed to vector) and spritesheets :
Option 1: Develop the game targeting the 'standard' flash player for web, then port to an iOS AIR 3.2 app, doing appropriate optimizations.
Option 2: Use Starling/Stage3D for desktop, and then port to an iPad app. Just wondering if starling is ready for primetime making production quality games for mobile + desktop. Does Stage3D still work well enough in software mode on older machines?
Option 3: The new feature in CS6 that lets us publish to HTML5. Is this even close to mature enough to publish a full game? The benefit of this solution is that it could run in the browser on the iPad instead of being a separate app.
Thianks so much for any guidance.. I'm also wondering about pitfalls, and optimization techniques involved in any of these.
    -rich

Well I don't know if I can give you 'guidance' without knowing the details of you and your project and all that, but here's my personal opinions:
Option 1: I would go for developing for iOS and Android first and then "in-brower" over the other way around. But I would actually develop for all targets at once so that I know I am not using a solution that breaks another platform/formactor that has to be redone later. iOS has allot more guidelines and things you have to consider than the the 'browser' where there is no approval proccess. So if you can get it approved on iOS then it should be able to go to Android and the browser without so much trouble, but the other way around you could really create allot of stuff that needs to be redone -- Apple is very strict on making sure that the users are not stuck with bad UI or a bad user experience(as is defined by their user interface guidelines). I have some projects that were made for in-browser flash first, and it has been hell porting them over to iOS/Android. The whole way they interact with the user has to be rethought for mobile/small screens/touch screens. If I had made them originally with mobile in mind, then it may not have been as much of an ordeal.
Option 2: I am not familiar with 'starling' or Stage3D, so I can't be helpful here.
Option 3: I was under the impression that the 'publish to HTML5' feature was just for animations, not ActionScript -- Maybe someone else can answer this for sure. Even if it could do ActionScript, there still may be no way to access some of the stuff an app could (saving levels/data/whatever to the device hard-drive, etc).
Anyhow, curious why you would want to avoid vectors? With so many screen resolutions, and the potential that they may get higher in the future (like they did with retina display on iOS), vector would make your project better suited to work on future devices without having to redo things and add higher resolution bitmaps later. If you have something that absolutely demands insane perfomance, then the bitmap/spritesheet stuff might be needed I guess... (or if it is some '8-bit retro' type of thing)
