Web Hosting Manager for Sun JES?
Does somebody know about realizations of Web Hosting Manager (like Cpanel/WHM) for Sun Web server?
Does Cpanel port for Sun JES / Sun Solaris exist? Or some software system based on Java?
Sorry, if my question was incomprehensible. Some explanations below ...
I try to find solution, which will allow to use Sun Java System Web Server as comfortable platform for web hosting. Functionality of needed software package should be similar to functionality of Cpanel/WHM.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPanel (or directly http://www.cpanel.net):
"cPanel ("Control Panel") is a graphical web-based web-hosting control panel, designed to make administration of websites easy. cPanel handles all aspects of website administration in its interface.
WebHost Manager (WHM) is a web-based tool used by server administrators and resellers to manage hosting accounts on a web server."
Unfortunately, Cpanel/WHM is developed and supported for Linux (or FreeBSD)/Apache platform.
Questions below.
1. Does somebody know about installation and using of Cpanel/WHM on Sun Web Server / Solaris?
2. Does somebody know about software systems with same functionality, but written for Sun Web Server / Solaris?

Any suggestions for good free web hosting service for my IWeb page, other than MobileMe?
MobileMe is not free.
Search : free webhosting
You can narrow the results by being more specific by adding town, province or country.
You can also start by checking out your own ISP.
Or be free as in here : www.000webhost.com

What to look for in a web hosting company for Flex applications
Hello,
I am trying to figure out what I need to look for in a web
hosting company if I want to deploy my own Flex applications? I
don't anticipate having any special requirements other than the
ability to interact with databases and XML files. Can someone help
me figure out what the server-side requirements are?
Thanks in advance!
Mattthen almost 99.9% hosting will work.
if you want a Flexx app with compiler then oo thats different
but as you say "I don't anticipate having any special requirements
other than the ability to interact with databases and XML files"
then you can go with pretty much any hosting, as long as they have
apache, Database serve and I think thats it. -
Which web hosting company for my iWeb site?
Hi everyone.
I was going to let my iWeb site just die with MobileMe, but decided to go ahead and get hosting for it to keep it online. I'm trying find advice on which company to choose. After looking online I saw this one company called Little Oak is a mac web hosting company, and they are offering a 25% discount right now to host websites (http://www.thewhir.com/web-hosting-news/web-hosting-sales-and-promos-roundup-jun e-29-2012
Can anyone vouch for their reputation? Or can you offer up any other companies that I should consider?
Thank you.
Anne.I use Little Oak for my site, and I can genuinely recommended. They are great. And in regards to pricing, it is relative. You can find really budget and cheap hosting, you can even find free hosting. But you usually get what you pay for. I would stay away from free hosting if you want decent service. I really like and value the service I get from LO. And that 25% coupon looks like a good reason to try them. I've called or IM with them at all hours of the day, and always get great service.
Its true that most web hosting companies offer similar prices and packages, what you really want to see if a companies reputation for service, because when things go wrong, you want to be sure you are going to be taken care of.
I'm sure whoever you go with, they will be able to help you move your site over. Here is a help sheet from Apple to get you started: (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4686). -
Streaming audio, web hosting, scripts for streaming?
Hello all,
Back several years ago, it seemed all the big web hosts
featured "streaming
audio and video" as a feature of their hosting plans at some
dollar amount. You
know, once you elevated to the $19.95 a month plan at XYZ
host, your website
could stream audio or video.
I don't see that anywhere in web hosts monthly plans any
longer at any dollar
amount. Anyway I have a client who sells her own music, and I
have been trying
to find a web host that supports streaming audio, mp3, etc. I
checked with 1
and 1 (webhost) and they responded as follows:
"Basically our eshop can support streaming but it would be
through
scripts only. So, it would be in your end to do those
matters."
I have no idea what that actually means. And I realize I
could just send the
guy a note and ask him, but I figured I would get a more
comprehensive and
valuable answer here since I use Dreamweaver. By "script" are
they talking
about something like Flash Audio Kit? I am confused by the
whole thing now. I
thought it was as simple as looking for a hosting plan that
supported streaming.
I use Dreamweaver 8, Windows, if that matters for this
question.
Thanks a million!
TimThank you for responding but I finally got it to work.

Recommended Web Hosting companies for Video/Photographers
In starting up my own videography and photography business are there any web hosting companies that someone could recommend that have the adequate bandwidth to support lots of photo and video downloading? Most, if not all the, elcheapo hosting services (Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc.) have cheap prices but crappy speed. I don't mind paying for what I need but I expect it to be delivered.
Actually I am looking into just that. I have a litney of questions I just sent to their support staff that I figured were too lengthy to ask here.
I might as one. It would be VERY worthwhile to be able to get more stats than just hits. Not being a Zen Web Master, is this possible with a .mac account? Is it as simple as just putting in some hooks into my web page to enable this?
I've been looking around asking some friends I have in and out of multiple business and, rightly so, most of the feedback I've seen, the hosting companies want, up front, estimates of what my use will be and at what speeds. I've not a clue on these stats. Kind of a catch 22. Don't know the stats until you get a web site up but can't get a web site until I know the stats. This is where a .mac account would be idea, at least for starters but I think to be really useful I would need to be able to get the statistics. Also, I want my own URL with my company name in it. I believe that this is possible but I think I need to first register my name externally and then I somehow link to it from a .mac account. I've got no idea how to do this other than getting a name. That is easy. -

Configure DNS on Snow Leopard Server for Web Hosting
Hi Everyone,
I put together an article on my blog about Snow Leopard DNS setup for web hosting. http://www.mkahn.com/?p=279
I'll be revising it over the next few weeks to make it more informative based around feedback. Let me know if you have any questions or trouble setting up DNS on Snow Leopard Server for web hosting.Thanks for your replies. I realize I'm not making clear the way this network is configured . Also, the only services running on the Snow Leopard server are (at this time):
dhcpd - in the 10.136.31.x range;
dns - same as before;
planned to add are:
Open Directory (for network logins)
Software update;
Web (only on the 10.136.31.x Ethernet);
mySQL (localhost only - for moodle);
NAT is not set up on the Snow Leopard server itself. We have an outside router, a Cisco 2811. This router provides routing for both the public IP range, and the NAT range is configured in this router. The forwarding dns is located in LR and Fayetteville. So what I need is dns on Snow Leopard to forward outside queries to the state DNS servers, and resolve the local NAT IP only for Open Directory and a set of Snow Leopard clients.
Is this going to be possible? -
Free web hosting for PHP Oracle 10g XE applications
Hi guys
I am a student currently completing my final year project of a BSc Information Systems / Computer Science programme. I am using PHP and Oracle 10g XE and I was hoping that someone could advise me on a good web hosting site for student applications that is available at no cost, since I can't afford to pay for hosting. It is important that I host my site because my university tutor (in the UK) needs to access my site and provide feedback at this point in the project. Any assistance will be very much appreciated.Just to let everyone know, i will do free hosting for students needing it for there projects, i will need an academic email address for corespodence, so thats a .edu or .ac.uk for example.
I have just relaunched the website and slashed my prices, so starter packages are from 2.99 a month for oracle and php. www.phporaclehosting.com
Any questions reply to this thread -

I would like to start hosting websites, however I am very new the the server end of mac. I am wondering if there is any where I can go to learn the ins and outs of Mac Web hosting? I was also wondering if there was any form of web hosting automation for mac (e.i. Plesk/Zpanel) one that would run on the Mac OS without having to install Parallels. Any help you can give is much appreciated.
This website is a good source of information for web hosting providers: http://www.webhostingtalk.com. It is a forum for web hosting providers so you won't find step-by-step tutorials there but it is a good place to search for answers to your web hosting questions. To my knowledge there is no native cPanel/Plesk type solutions for Mac. The market for that sort of product seems to be primary for Linux-based servers.

Confirming method to secure web services through oracle web service manager
Hi All,
I am just wondering about the method to secure web service through oracle web service manager.
I have a unsecure web service "helloworld" which is deployed on JWSDP1.6 toolkit.I want to secure it through oracle web service manager.
Inorder to secure this unsecure web service,I use gateway(web service manager for securing web service using message level security through certificate).
So when client want to access the helloworld service,it contacts the gateway securely and gateway intern connect to original web service after decrypting and verification of the signature.When gateway gets response from the web service,it signs the response message and then encrypt and passs on to the client.
So my question is,is it the right way to secure web service?
As I am getting the following fault exception :
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">

</SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
I checked the log at :

but there is no helpful information available.Thanks for any help.

Can you help me choose a Web hosting service
Just call me a procrastinator but I know I have to find a web hosting service for my iweb created websites soon. Despite browsing all afternon I can't find any definitive recommendations. (perhaps it's not allowed in discussions but I really need specifics) I want it to be as easy (a la MM) as possible and do want to continue a blog (preferably with ability to RSS/comments). I also want unlimited space, bandwith, etc and of course am willing to pay but want to do the right thing as reasonably as possible - please can someone help me...soon
I personally use IX Webhosting for a couple of reasons:
Fast reliable personal tech support by phone, instant chat, & email
They allow unlimited domains "www.yoursite.com", unlimited email accounts, unlimited bandwidth
And, price they are very reasonable plans start @ $3.95 USD a month
