Web Inspector window problem

Hello,
When I open Web Inspector using the menu Develop >> Show Web Inspector, the window open with a problem.
To display correctly, click the "dock to main window" in the status bar, then click again on the same icon to separate from Safari. I think it's a bug, but if exist a temporary solution...
Thanks!

Same issue still in Safari 5.1.2
Web inspector opens blank weather or not it is docked to the window. The toggle docking button fixes the issue.
Clean install of MacOS X Lion 10.7.2 with only Xcode, MacVim, and Photoshop on it. I was hoping this issue would have been fixed by now. It's been broken ever since Safari 5. It's very irritating to continuously have to toggle the docking in order to view the web inspector. Any word on a fix?

  • Safari 7 web inspector not showing

After insaling Safari 7 and updating to Mavericks afterwards, Web Inspector is "behaving" - initial window is gray backgound. Once I resize Web Inspector window it shows up properly, but unles resized it stays gray no matter the page, tab or window. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, that doesn't help me. Have deleted both /Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db and ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db, still gray background.

  • Problems saving resources in Web Inspector

Often I want to save images from web inspector. But I'm having a couple of problems.
    1. "Open Image in New Window" does nothing.
    2. "Download Image" saves the image, but names it Unkown and without a file extension.
Has anyone been able to get either of these features working?
    Safari Version 7.0 (9537.71)

    @Carolyn:
Yes, I did search before but restricted it to the past month, because I had the feeling that it’s worse now since the update to 5.1.10, but I may be wrong.
It seems this is an old and unsolved common problem.
    @andy:
“Top Sites” is hot, but I’ve never used that funny dots without any mouse-over text.
After deleting (before starting Safari)  it’s restored by a default TopSites.plist, it seems these cookies
    - are only reloaded when viewing the Top Sites (?)
    - are not among my reappearing cookies, I have never seen such a cookie / cache on my system before (e.g. expedia, orbitz, monster, usatoday, disney, craigslist).
And Top Sites would not explain why the Web Inspector has different infos regarding use of cookies and local storage than Safari’s “Privacy” tab.
After playing with deleting TopSites.plist, without surfing, suddenly I have ”121 cookies or other data” at Safari’s Privacy tab, nearly all are listed as “Cache” or “Cache, Cookies” but the Web Inspector doesn’t show any of them, only my google.co.uk items.
---> Thanks, I’ll send a feedback to Apple.

  • How do you use web inspector with Windows 7

I plug in the USB cable from my Windows desktop to my phone, The drivers are loaded successfully, but where can I find the Windows equal to Safari's advanced preferences.

You can't. Web Inspector can only be enabled from a Mac computer. Not Windows.  As it requires the Safari browser on the computer, and the last version of Safari for Windows was discontinued years ago and did not have that feature any way.

  • New browser window from CRM Web UI causes problems

    Hi Experts,
We have several links to internal web sites that CRM users can access from the web UI.  Problem is, whenever one of these links are selected, the user looses whatever it was they were doing in CRM and the main window displays the following message:
The object you have selected is starting in a new browser window. You can continue working normally in the current application. However, you may have to navigate back to the page you were working on.
Anyway to prevent this from happening?   Would very much appreciate any advice.
    Thanks,
    Stephen Brewer

    Hello Brewer,
If your requirement is to open some URL say google.com etc in a now window, then there are only 2 ways
    1) Use Transaction Launcher
    2) Use PopUp Window.
    1) If you use transaction launcher, and created the link in your direct link group then on click of the link, the URL will open in new window but you cant avaoid the message that you get in the current window. Also, if users POPUP Blocker is ON, user will never come to know why the new window has not launch.
    2) This is very simple and straight forward approch for opening URL. However, POPUP windows in WEB UI are modal windows, so say on click on a button on Account Overview Screen, i open google.com in a popup then unless i close this popup , i can not work on the account overview screen . However, you can see the account overview screen as it is and you can resume back when the popup is closed. Also you can define the even handler on close event of pop up so you can pass the data to & fro between the webclient view and the pop up.
to open some extrenal URL in a PopUp , You will need to create a blank view and attach it to a window. In .htm file of the view, you can use tag IFRAME and call your external URL here.
    Hope its helpful.
    Thanks & Rregards
    Prasad
PS : the popup blocked problem will still be there however, it flashes a message like pop up blocker is ON in case of using popup window

  • Safari 6: WebKit Web Inspector Annihilated

Anyone have this problem and, hopefully, solved it?
When I use the WebKit Web Inspector, it doesn't show anything but what you see on the screenshot below. If you look closely, the top bar of the inspector that should show selections such as: ELEMENTS, RESOURCES, NETWORK, etc... doesn't show any of that, instead it clips part of the website and keeps that clip static. As you can see in the image, parts of the screen on the Macbook Pro graphic has been sliced and kept statically at the bottom, it never moves or disappears.
On top of that, nothing ever loads in the inspector except the options at the bottom which also does nothing. I can't even pop the inspector out of the window, clicking on that option does nothing.
I can't use the new inspector as that also has issues. On the old inspector, the NETWORK option was useful for troubleshooting AJAX web applications; on the new one, data returned from an XMLhttprequest no longer shows in it's own section, instead it's just bundled with other random bits of data that has loaded previously and it it doesn't seperate them out by the order in which requests came in, instead it tries to put them in alpha order which is a bad thing, because there is no way of telling what request came in and when.
I kept the old copy of Safari incase S6 would break something, and it did, but when I try to run Safari 5, it just crashes. I want to downgrade Safari back to the previous version, but I haven't a clue how.
I had to switch to Chrome to continue with web development, but I would like to work in Safari. Any ideas?
Reinstalling the entire OS for this one issue is not an option and never should be.

@CodeLickerI already addressed the new Inspector which I said is also an issue. There's a whole paragraph for it even.
@rynkydynkyThanks, but I ended up switching to Chrome and I am actually liking it better than Safari, plus it has a working Web Inspector and tabs that don't stretch into infinity on a 27" iMac.

  • Safari Web Inspector on Mavericks

    Dear Apple communities
I've had a problem with Safari Web Inspector since version 10.9.0 and now upgraded into 10.9.1 but the problem still persists
the Web Inspector always freezing, can't scroll the inspector window, and the Inspector window sometimes greyed out (screenshot added)
how to fix this problem ?
    any helps are appreciated
    thank you
    screenshot

I am using jQuery and calling my javascript using $(document).ready(). When, on the same page, I call my JS using window.onload, the errors show up like I would expect. I hope I have got something else wrong, because this would seem to discourage writing unobtrusive javascript.

  • Where is the inspector window in the new pages 5.0?

I am having a serious problem trying to manage this new version of Pages. Something that I simply loved in the old version was the Inspector Window that just vanished. How can I have it back or how can I return to the old version? Is that possible?

It's gone- one of many features stripped out in this new version.  Best bet is to continue to use Pages 09 from a previous save of your Doc- I hope you kept a backup becuase not everyone's having great luck "exportings as 4.3" to get the old version of a document back.
FYI, the old Pages remains in the iWork Folder in your Applications Folder.

  • Pages '09: The inspector window doesn't open any more - no idea why

Don't know what and when something went wrong. But I can't open the inspector window anylonger. Any idea?

Usually the problem is that the Inspector window is hiding under something else, such as a Help window.

  • HP Smart Web Printing feature, problem with IE7 and FireFox3

"HP Smart Web Printing" problem with Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox 3I have a laptop that came with: Windows Vista Home Premium, Internet Explorer 7, FireFox 1.9. Everything worked fine.
Recently I bought a "HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One" printer that came with a free software "HP Smart Web Printing".
Smart Web Printing worked fine with FireFox 1.9 browser. I liked it very much, because with it, I could print only the portions from the web page that I want, thus saving on inks. It really does more than that.
With IE 7, Smart Web Printing was a disaster. IE 7 stopped working. Every time I closed a web browser window, IE7 would stop working and start all over again. It happened all the time.
On suggestion from Microsoft Windows help desk I "Reset IE Setting". This solved the IE 7 problem , but it also removed the Smart Web Printing feature.
Next, one day I downloaded latest version of FireFox browser "FireFox 3". Once again I lost the Smart Web Printing Feature, because it was not compatible with FireFox 3.
Now here I am with no "Smart Web Printing" feature at all.
Any suggestion how can I get "Smart Web Printing" feature back. I love the feature
    Thanks

March 27th 2009 I've just downloaded HP Smart Web Print onto an HP a6500f desktop system running Vista-64.  I first installed it as a limited user and I get no icon in the IE7 taskbar.  I examined the manage add-ons dialog and it was installed but the toolbar configuration has no control icon for SWP icon.
Then I logged off and logged on as a privileged user and downloaded again and tried to install.  This 2nd installation actually REMOVED my first installation.
So I then downloaded for a third time and installed and it finished installing but there was no SWP icon in the tool bar.  I examined the Manage Add-Ons dialog and saw one in there on the left side.  I transfered the inactive icon to the active side of the dialog and then I immediately had TWO SWP icons in the task bar. (*mumble grumble*).  So I removed one and all is OK now as long as I use the IE7 as a privileged user.
If I go back to being a limited user (not an unreasonable thing to do is it?) I don't have an SWP icon.  Trying to install SWP application again only cause it to want to remove the existing installation.
I'm not very impressed with this behavior.
Is there anything that can be done to get SWP to work for limited users?

  • HP Smart Web Printing Window is Empty

I just installed Version 4.6 under IE8 (under Windows 7 64-bit).  When I show the HP Smart Web Printing Window, it is empty with a white background (i.e. there is no selection tool).  I checked IE's add-ons and everything you would expect to be enabled is enabled:

Per HP Support's recommendation, I unistalled and re-installed Smart Web printing and that resolved the problem.

  • Issues showing PDF files in web-browser (Windows 7 x64, 32-bit version of AdobeReader X)

I'm not sure if this is the right way to share my experience, but at least I know Google will discover this thread eventually and maybe someone else will find what I have been looking for the past 3 hours
I'm deploying the 32-bit based AdobeReader X (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4950) to Windows7 32-bit and 64-bit based machines. This is a MSI deployement done through our Active Directory. Everything goes well - no errors. Except for the x64-based machines having trouble showing PDF-files in the web-browser.
I used Adobe Customization Wizard X to customize our MSI installation - this showed out to be the solution once again.
Common for the installation on Windows7 32-/64-bit were that the value in the registry database for HKCR\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe (Default) was set to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe". This is valid for the 32-bit installation as Program Files is situated in C:\Program Files, but since it's a 32-bit edition of AdobeReader that I'm installing on the 64-bit based system as well, it's installed in C:\Program Files (x86) and the reference in the registry database to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" is therefore not valid - which explains why PDF files could not be displayed in the web browser. Changing the registry to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" solved it. Now this is a manual solution which might be useful on 1-2 machines but on a bigger scale it's not the right way to do it.
I could change it with a batch/vbs script but still this is only a solution of the symptom and not a solution to the core issue. I therefore focused on Adobe Customization Wizard X again.
The problem was easily solved. I opened the MSI file, loaded the transform file that I've made previously. Went to Registry > HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe . I then changed the (Default) value from "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" to "[INSTALLDIR]Reader\AcroRd32.exe", generated the MST file and replaced my current one for distribution. Problem solved! :-) The entry in the registry now shows : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" and PDF files are open without any issues.
I hope someone can save a bit of time on this one.
    Best regards!
    Alex Mikkelsen

I was able install and view the files in adobe reader 10.1.1 and in web browser window 7 64 bit machine.  But when I go to Edit-preferences-internet and  unchecking "display PDF in Browser" , I am not able to view the pdf files in ie 9 browser.  I have used this javscript to check for pdf version.
    Immediately after installing adobe--
when I do adobe test in ie 9---https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html--  launches a test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf
After unchecking-- it stays in the  https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html instead of showing test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf
Tried to go back to "display PDF in Browser"--it is showing it is checked(eventhough I did not check it)
    and in ie
it stays in the https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html instead of showing test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf

  • Safari Web Inspector console clears on refresh

Sometimes the console on Safari's Web Inspector doesn't show me javascript errors. This makes debugging a page harder (e.g., I think a page is free of JS errors, when really Safari just isn't showing them to me).
This is how I expect it to work: I load a page and open the Web Inspector. It shows me any JS errors. If I reload the page, the Inspector also reloads and shows me the JS errors. Often it does work this way.
Sometimes, though, one some pages, when I reload the page, the Inspector clears and reloads like above, but the JS errors don't show up in the console (I do get a red indicator next to the JS file with the number of errors). If I close the inspector and reopen it, the errors then show up.
I have tried restarting Safari, restarting my computer, and reinstalling Safari. This is Safari Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1).

I am using jQuery and calling my javascript using $(document).ready(). When, on the same page, I call my JS using window.onload, the errors show up like I would expect. I hope I have got something else wrong, because this would seem to discourage writing unobtrusive javascript.

  • Why does email hypertext in PDF open web browser window in addition to email client?

Using FrameMaker 10, I created the following hypertext: message URL mailto:[email protected] I then printed to PDF. When I click the link in the PDF it opens an email client message window (what I want) but also opens a web browser window with mailto:[email protected] in the address bar (what I don't want). Why would it open both? I don't know if this is a Frame issue (more likely), an Acrobat issue (less likely), or a browser issue (not likely). I hope I'm just missing something easy here.

Should have given the following info earlier...running Win 7 64-bit with Outlook 2010 and Acrobat X Pro. That being said the path to verify "mailto" is different but it is set up fine. Same with Acrobat X Pro...settings are fine.
Also, in reply to Harry28586 this is happening with Firefox, not IE (I should have mentioned that as well).
I've found plenty of threads searching online regarding issues with email links in Acrobat on Win 7 machines with Outlook...many suggest editing the registry. I have no problem doing that but this is a work laptop and we have a don't-fix-it-yourself policy. So I'll keep looking. Thanks for all the suggestions.

  • Audio inspector windows lost

I lost my inspector windows for all of the apps. like audio, color, voice over. Can someone help me. I have a dual monitor setup and sometime the stupid thing stay on the other monitor even if I'm not plug into it WIERD! so I have to plug into the other monitor and then drag them over to the macbook screen and now there gone. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
I thing there like off of both the screens, but how can that be.

I am having the same issue with iMovie 7.1.1. I cannot see any of the editing palettes. When I switch to a different user account I can see the palettes so it is a vexing problem. I also use an external monitor with my 2.4 Ghz black Macbook and I thought the same as you in regard to the palette being on the external extended desktop, but for the life of me it will not appear. Frustrating.
Did you ever get the palettes back? I suppose I could reinstall iMovie but I wonder if there is a preference file somewhere that I could trash so the program could basically start over.
