"Web layout view" in latest Pages?

I write for magazines and frequently have multiple text windows open at a time — the document on which I'm working plus two or three others containing text from interviews or research. In Word I've used "Web Layout" view as I can re-scale and re-size the boxes but still see all of the text (or as much as I like) at one time. Just upgraded my ancient laptop and I'm considering switching to Pages but I don't see anything like this. A quick search reveals that past versions of Pages didn't allow for writing in this fashion (multiple windows, all scalable with all text in view at once). Has the latest added it somewhere? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying, PeterBreis0807.  I am talking about multiple windows of different documents, however...
As it currently stands in Pages (apparently) re-scaling a window doesn't affect the "page" within that window, so when I type the sentence, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog," and then make the window narrower, I can only see "The quick brown fox."
In Word's "Web Layout" the re-scaled window would simply push the remainder of the sentence down a line so that all text was still visible inside the narrower window.
Maybe there's a way to accomplish this with Pages? Again, I've never used the program so please forgive me if there's a simple button or something that will keep all text in a window and "zoomable" no matter the window's size.
Thanks

  • "Web Layout" View?

    Is there a way, in Pages, to switch to a "Web Layout" view like Microsoft Word's?

    Pages is called Pages because it has pages.
    Try iText Express [free] or iText Pro [cheap] which let you have continuous Word Processing.
    Even TextEdit will do what you want, it is actually very powerful.
    Save the files as rtfd.
    Making a webpage of your work is a very clumsy solution.

  • How to deploy Web Layout Report which is embedded in a JSP in 10.1.3 ??

    Hi there,
    we like to create a JSP report with web and paper layout. The paper layout is for pdf and the web layout to fit the page in the whole application. The whole application will be a JSF application running on 10.1.3. The reason why we like to use Reports is the capability of creating pdf and because of a couple of charts we have to build - using chart builder.
    Now the question is how the JSP has to be deployed because the Reports engine is running on another 10.1.2 server. So the JSP itself has to run on 10.1.3 but the Report has to run on 10.1.2 - is it possible, a problem or is it just easy?

  • Paper layout & web layout

    This might be a novice questin but still..
    With 9i reports, we are only going to deploy our reports to the web, and there are going to be no client server reports..
    In that context, the only layout we are going to be worried about is the web layout, I dont understant why there are two kinds of layouts i.e. PAPER LAYOUT AND WEB LAYOUT
    what is the difference between the two, when should we use the paper and web layout.

    Hi,
    There are 2 things here: the Q about deploying reports to the web, and the Q about paper and web layout. Let me explain each one.
    Q about paper and web layouts
    Paper layout is the layout you need to create "printable" reports. This layout is the same that you saw in 6i - with frames, repeating frames, fields, boilerplate objects and so on. This layout has the concept of a "page-wise" report. Once you create this layout (paper layout), you can get your report output in various formats, eg, PDF, RTF, HTML, HTMLCSS etc.
    On the other hand, web layout means that in place of (or in addition to) the paper layout, you get the report designed in JSP code. So all the frames, repeating frames etc will be expressed in JSP code using the Oracle Reports custom tags. Since it is code-based, you can insert your HTML or Java code in here to customize the output. You can in fact start with the HTML template, open it in reports builder, and start inserting the data using Reports custom JSP tags. In web layout, there are no "page breaks". So your report will be a JSP file, and can be deployed along with your J2EE application.
    Now the Q about deploying to the web.
    BOTH paper and web layouts are compatible with the web architecture. You will call a paper report from your browser with a command like:
    http://my_machine_name:port_number/reports/rwservlet?report=...server=...userid=...destype=...desformat=...
    And for accessing the web layout, you will deploy the JSP on a J2EE containser (like OC4J), and access it like:
    http://my_machine_name:port_number/application_context_root/My_jsp_report.JSP?server=...userid=...
    There is no destype, desformat or desname (because the output is only displayed on your browser).
    So using 9i Reports builder, if you want to save the report's paper layout ONLY, you save it as an RDF file. In case you want to store ONLY web or BOTH paper and web layouts, you save the report definition as JSP.

  • Viewing PDF file as one continuous page - Like Word "Web Layout"

    Is there a way to view a pdf file as one continuous document without the page breaks? (similar to the way you would view "web layout" in Word)
    Thanks for all the help!!

    You would have to create the entire PDF document as one single page. Just set the PDF page size to a size large enough to hold all the contents of your Word doc. Of course, if you're distributing this PDF, it will make it harder for people to print it.

  • Only source view, no layout view with PS web gallery.

    I created a web photo gallery using CS3... When i view the pages in GL CS2 from the gallery, it only shows source code, no layout view.
    Normally I wouldn't care, however, I have to add links to the jpgs.
    Is there a way to fix this so I can work with it?
    thanks for your help

    hmmm. as I uploaded to provide a link the pages are not viewable in a browser.

  • View temporary data in Web layout during file upload in Integrated Planning

    Hi Experts,
    When using File Upload funcationality, in Integrated Planning,
    I have a requirment, How user can view the data in the web layout?
    After data display user can make changes in the data and on click of Save the updated data is saved in cube.
    If any one has come across this requirment can you please help me out how things can be carried out?
    If "how to implement" document is present can you please provide me the link.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Abhi

    Hi Abhi,
    I assume, you are using WAD for this..
    Please do the following: (Please note the the cube has to be in Plan mode while executing WAD)
    1. Create a input enable query (through query designer) on th eaggregate level (the one you are using for IP). You might need to create filers for the aggregate level. these filters can also be used in the query.
    2. In the WAD, pull this query.
    3. Create a button in WAD and check for the planning functionalities readily available that you can use in WAD. One of the planning functionality is SAVE Data. This will save any data which is entered by the user.
    4. In the same button integrate a Refresh Data command after the SAVE data. This will automatically refresh the query and pull the updated/changed data from the cube.
    This should work. Please write back in case of any clarification.
    Regards, Rishi

    We have a customer that is having 2 issues viewing an .rpt file in the Crystal 10 Web Report Viewer.  When they view a report that is 12 pages, the first page appears OK.  When they click Next to go to the Next page, the page shows as blank.  The second issue is that If they try to export the .rpt they get this error:

    Hello,
    This sounds like a postback issue. Does your application handle postback by putting the report in session?
    There is a [sample|http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2SP2/en/en/CrystalReports_dotNET_SDK/crsdk_samples_aspx/data/crsdk_net_tutorials_115_en.zip] to look at on our website. It was created with Crystal Reports XI R2 and Visual Studio .NET but the code will be the same.
    The basic code is:
    Private crReportDocument As ReportDocument
        Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
            'Check to see if the report exists
            If (Session("crReportDocument") Is Nothing) Then
                crReportDocument = New ReportDocument()
                crReportDocument.Load("C:\1 - Report\CRParams.rpt")
                'Do anything required for the report
                'Logon to the database
                'Pass parameters
                'Assign the report into Session
                Session("crReportDocument") = crReportDocument
                'Assign the report to the Viewer
                myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = crReportDocument
            Else
                'Assign the report that is stored in Session to the report instance.
                crReportDocument = CType(Session("crReportDocument"), ReportDocument)
                'Assign the report to the Viewer for each postback
                myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = crReportDocument
            End If
        End Sub

  • Webi Page View Not Displaying Page Size Correctly.

    Hi Everone,
    I have an issue with one report where the page size sttings do not translate when viewed in HTML Page View.
    Figure one is the report as seen in the editor - as you can see the page is displayed correctly - A4 Portrait:
    And, when the report is viewed in PDF mode - again, no issues:
    But when viewed in HTML page view - it blows out the width of the page:
    Now this report, as far as I can tell, is set up no differently than 6 others that are designed to be printed as PDF, all of which do not display this behaviour.
    We design them to be printed as PDF but present them to the user in HTML Page view in order to allow injected JavaScript’s in the report to be run. This does not happen when you jump directly into PDF mode.
    I have checked in design view and I don't have any wayward report elements pushing out the width and the PDF renders correctly which would not happen if there were hidden elements causing issues, it would render a bunch of blank pages.
    So, I am at a loss. The page view is correct in edit mode and in PDV view mode but not in HTML page view. Has anyone else had this issue? I can’t work out why this happens only in one report when all the others work properly.
    HELP!!!

    Hi,
    I think it may be <div class="html5gallery-viral-0"> (contains the social media buttons) // screencasteu.worldsecuresystems.com/AP/2013-08-01_1033.png
    It's the only element that isn't in sync with the other elements on page, when compared to home.html for example.

  • How do I get Firefox to view the latest version of webpages when I return, instead of having to click on the refresh button?

    I couldn't find the option to choose on Firefox to view the latest version of web pages automatically each time I return. I've been needing to hit the refresh button.

    You can make Firefox always reload a page by changing a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # In the filter box type '''frequency''' to bring up a small number of preferences
    # Double-click on the preference '''browser.cache.check_doc_frequency''' and change its value to '''1'''
    For more details on that preference see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.check_doc_frequency

  • Performance Problems with Web Layouts in web interface

    Hello Gurus,
    We have a a BPS web interface tool which has the following design:
    1> A web interface with several tabs
    2> Each tab has around 3-4 input layouts which are dependent on each other
    3> In all there are 120-140 layouts that the tool uses...
    My questions were in term of performance
    1> Is there a limit to how many web layouts you can use per page/tab/view or if SAP recommends specific number of web layouts per page/tab/view ?
    2> If there is a limitation...our intention was to convert all the display layouts into BW reports so as to increase the performance of the tool....
    3> Would like to know the restriction on the number of users who can log into the tool as a specific point of time ? We may have 50-60 minimum using this tool.
    I would appreciate your help in this regard.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Rashmi,
    Have you got a chance to look at the performance guide and SAP notes on BPS performance. If not here are the details

  • Is Structure Layout View a code smell?

    I have an application that was built by using a double layered architecture. I needed to have a model where I store essential data about actions in this system.
    This system must be able to display these actions on screen and needs to be in a Composite type fashion(an action can contain sub-actions, but also can contain other components like buttons, labels, etc.).
    The structure model holds data and structure about actions(but not their positioning). The layout model is an observer of the logic model and holds the position and z-order of all components(actions + buttons + labels + etc.). And lastly there is the View that is an observer of the logic model and of the layout model to be able to display all the components(actions, buttons, etc.).
    By doing this I've separated an action into three components(structure+layout+view). This separation was necessary because I wanted to have a layer where I make the decision of which component is under the cursor separated from the layer where I make structural decisions(like adding/deleting actions) and separated from the layer where I display all components. Now I have three layers that combined form one unique component.
    The problem with this is that a component becomes formed from three distinct layers and it is a little harder to mantain.
    Please tell me if there could be a better design for this problem.
    Thanks in advance

    The following applies mainly to PHP and web pages, but the principles are the same: http://www.phpwact.org/pattern/template_view.
    You want a series of template-generating classes. One option in doing so would be an event model:
    interface TemplateComponent {
       abstract public void render(final JComponent parent);
    class TemplateManager {
       private TemplateComponent header;
       private TemplateComponent body;
       private TemplateComponent footer;
       public TemplateManager(TemplateComponent header, TemplateComponent body, TemplateComponent footer) {
           super();
           this.header = header;
           this.body = body;
           this.footer = footer;
       public void render() {
           JComponent panelHeader;
           JComponent panelBody;
           JComponent panelFooter;
            // Create a series of JComponent and add to your layout
           // This will be the template layout
          header.render(headerPanel);
          body.render(bodyPanel);
          footer.render(footerPanel);
    }- Saish

    "Compatibility View" is a crutch for IE users, from the days when Microsoft thought they controlled the internet and had their own "standards".
    You have some fixin' to do. All it might take is a tweak to the main CSS file, but it may take more than that. <br />
    This is what the W3Org Validator service says:<br />
