Web link as an end jump?
So I have a client who had me do a 5 minute promotional DVD for her. She'd like the disc to auto-run as soon as it's put in to a DVD player or a computer - no problem. But then she asked if I could make it jump right to her web page if someone is watching it on a computer. Any suggestions? I've done a minor search on here with no results - sorry if this is a repeat and/or silly question.

However, you might be better off convincing the client not to put any weblink on the DVD at all. When DVDs first came out, everyone was putting weblinks on their DVDs. The problem is that most people have to install special software on their computer to get them to work. Even if they did go through this step, they would find that it still would not work. If you do try this, you are guaranteed to have me say, "It doesn't work." Nowadays you will have trouble finding any DVDs with weblinks. Developers got so sick of people complaining, "It doesn't work" that they finally decided it was better not to have any sort of weblink at all.

I would be very grateful for any help with this problem. It is really annoying as I think the email has gone only finding it after days in the outbox. It sends fine from the outbox when I open mail and resend. It also works fine if I initiate email in the mail app but not when using link in photos or safari.Taking the accounts offline was just the easiest way to reproduce the issue. I discovered the issue when a serverside configuration was preventing me from making a connection to the SMTP server, but the effect was the same -
I attempted to send multiple emails
The connection error prevented them from being sent so they were placed in the Outbox mailbox
I changed a configuration setting thinking it would fix the issue
Selected all messages in Outbox
Right-clicked and selected "Send"
Confirmed "Send"
Messages were removed from Outbox but not delivered and I cannot find where or if they were moved
I have been able to reproduce this by both taking the accont offline and misconfiguring my smtp settings. I did not anticipate the possibility that sending emails would be a destructive act. -

How do I configure thunderbird open but not jump to web link in e-mail. I want the web pages, but do not want to display my browser page until I have clicked on several links, then I will go look at my browser pages.
I can't figure out how to do this.

While viewing web sites the screen suddenly jumps like it is resizing itself. Doesn't matter what site I'm on. Also I have to click links/back button at least 2 times to get it to respond. This has been happening ever since the last update.

Kmail web links broken after pacman -Syu
Hello -
I use Kontact/Kmail for my email. After a recent upgrade, web links no longer work in my emails. When I click on any type of link in an email, an "infinite loop" of processes is generated. No windows appear, just process after process is started and stopped. This problem only seems to happen within Kmail.
Shutting down Kontact does stop the problem, so I end up rebooting. I can't seem to find any one process to kill to stop the madness either. I sent myself an email with a link to the Arch home page - here is a partial output from the process list:

Get the ones on the end and move them in towards the text that you want to copy. The problem that you seem to be facing where you are is that this text is a hyperlink. Because of that reason, you will have a difficult time tapping on the text without activating the link. I'm not sure you will be able to do that.

I'm creating a menu where I have 10 buttons that link to a solid video track with 9 commercials on it. There are markers in DVDSP before each commercial. The first button is "PLAY ALL" which, when clicked, will of course play the whole video track of all 9 commercials. The following 9 buttons are each of the names of the commercials and when clicked, it takes the viewer to the marker in front of the corresponding commercial. I figured out that if I set the "End Jump" of the marker back to it's button in the menu, it does so. The only problem is that if I set the marker to end jump back to the menu, when the "PLAY ALL" button is selected, it still "end jumps" back to the menu after the first commercial. Is there any way to have the "PLAY ALL" button bypass the marker end jumps? Is the only work around to also have separate tracks each with separate commercials on them? I will have 4 menus and a total of about 35 video clips if I do this and will take forever and also take up a lot of space on the DVD.
Let me know if anyone knows a way around this.

Eddieno - you should be able to see and hear the result in simulator.
You could try building the project to your hard drive and using DVDPlayer to open the Video_TS folder and test it from there.
Did you create 9 stories with a chapter in each (removing the end jump command on each chapter marker), or did you add one story and add all 9 chapter entry points to is as your play all?
In my opinion, the latter is the better way to go. -
I'm putting together a DVD that begins with a series of 6 movie trailers (in one block) which then end jumps to the main menu.
I also have a Trailers menu, from which I need to link to each individual trailer
My questions is - how do I make the trailers individually linked to end jump back to the trailers menu screen, yet leave the first play trailers unaffected?

Place a maker before each section and set a "Play All" story with all markers in the story and set the end jump for that story to where you want it to go.
Then make a story for each trailer and set end jump for those. -

I am able to see the parameter form, but after I entered some parameter and submit, I got an error as:
The page cannot be displayed.
But if I run it with the paramform=no and attached the parameter/value pair at the end of the link, the report will show on the web.
Anyone knows what is wrong?

Add Non-Standard Web Link in Mac Mail
Does anyone know how to add a non-standard web link? The add link dialog box does not like my url.
I need to add a link like this: http://someserver100/index.html.
It disables the "OK" button as soon as I add the "100" after "someserver".
Prior to the Leopard upgrade I never had a problem doing this. Now it seems that Mail is trying to be too clever. Please help, this is an important business need for me to be able to send links like this.I didn't originally go deep into detail as not to bore, but maybe the details will make the difference.
I am a web developer. I have a client that I vpn into to make web updates. The server that I work on is a testing / development server, not the outside world facing production server. The server is not viewable via a domain name. So I can not get to it by typing www.domainname.com. Instead, the client's IT guys have a host name set up for the server that I need to use due to some of the back end technology that serves the pages.
The server name is "development100".
In order for me to view pages on this server, I had to make an entry in my host file so my browser would know what ip address "development100" is associated with. That way whenever I type "http://develoment100" into my browser's url bar to proof my web work it would resolve me to the testing / development server.
Now, once my changes are done and posted, I need to send a notification email to the IT staff that servers two purposes. First, it gives them an exact url laundry list of what files have have updated. Second, it gives them a link to click for each item that will allow them to proof that html, jpeg, etc.
A typical item in this list would like like this: http://development100/index.html
That link should send them directly to the index page on the server for example. I have be using this system of building the notification emails with these links for over five years and prior to upgrading to Leopard, it always worked.
Now, if I try to "Add Link" and type "http://development100/index.html" in the dialog box. The "OK" button will become disabled as soon as I key in the first number in that link.
If I don't "Add Link" and just key "http://development100/index.html" into the body of the email the link will cut off at the first number as well. So the link will look like this: "http://development"
Sorry for the long explanation, but I think that it is necessary. The answer may just be that Apple is trying to verify / qualify links automatically and wont let numbers go in the link name without a .com / suffix. Thanks for the help. -

Cheers, SlowstdyAs regards the problem with inserting a link into a signature, the work around you've suggested might be one answer. However, the Apple mail application seems to promise something more than that.
On the menu bar go to "Mail," then "Preferences," then "Signatures" and then fill in the text box with whatever you want to appear as your signature. If you highlight the part of that text that you want to hyperlink and then click on it a menu will appear. Sixth from the bottom of that pop-up menu is a command labeled "link" which in turn leads to a command labeled "Add."
Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. That sequence of steps, if done in the message portion of any e-mail, will result in a cool little pop up window that allows you to specify a web address. However, in the "Signatures" text box the "link" command fails to invoke the pop up window. Evidently in this context the feature is not properly implemented.
My guess is that this is an issue Apple will need to address in an upcoming fix. -
Changing the icon for saved Web links.
Im trying out different forum topics to see if anyone can help and I thought this would be a cool thing to do and might be doable with an applescript.
I save a lot of web address as files to go back to later and I find the default @ icon for firefox or the blank icon for safari pretty appalling. I was wondering if there was a way to change the icon so that when ever I save a new link file it would use the new icon. I was thinking about just an icon that has the Firefox, safari, chrome logo would be good or even better a little picture preview of the web page its self. Any help on this little idea I have is very appreciated

I tried this AppleScript but it was not working. Is there something that I need to check.
I had a few web link files in a folder and the script RAN the INFO window popped up but nothing changed.
This would be a valuable tool for me an my students,

Dear Friends,
We have just migrated the BW 3.5 server to a higher end server.
The host name had to be changed in the process due to which the BEx Web link (It is a default web link to access queries, not an Enterprise Portal link) is not accessible. I want to know where all I need to make changes to make it work.
The old link was
http://dicbwprd:8000/sap/bw/BEx
In this server dicbwprd is changed to bwprd and the port is changed to 8100.
If I just replace them in the internet explorer, it does not work: - http://dicbwprd:8000/sap/bw/BEx
I tried locating settings in SICF but no success.
Please help.

URL link at the end of flv/swf video???
Hi, I need to have a link at the end of a video so the viewer can click on it and go to a survey page.
We need the viewer to watch the entire video so it has to be at the end. I'm not an AS expert but I have the Master collection so whever software it takes I should have.Video was done in Premiere exported through media encoder and I have used either Flash to make a custom player or Dreamweaver to embed in a web page. The video plays fine but no link.
I have tried this in Flash but keep getting weird loops.

One big issue though is that the link is automatic (which is ok) but the link forces a popup window instead of the same browser window which the popup blockers block. Is there a way to make the link stay in the parent by defining a target?
Also what if we wanted the viewer to actually have to click to visit the link; what would be the process/code for that?

First Play and End Jump go blank in Property Inspector
I am using dvdsp2. In my Property Inspector window, when I go to the First Play drop down menu it is blank. There are no items to select in the drop down menu when I select the disc in the Outline tab.
The same goes for End Jump in the Property Inspector when I click Track 1
I tried a reinstall but it did not change anything.
Any help please?
So, what I'm noticing is that in the Property Inspector when I click First Play, where it says Menu 1 in the drop down menu it clears when clicked. This does the same in the Remote Control section. Drop Down menus Title, Menu, and Return all clear(go blank) when I click them.
The same goes for Track 1 in the Property Inspector. In the Remote Control section
Angle, Chapter, Audio, Subtitle drop down menus all go clear when clicked. Only the Menu drop down stays but does not drop down. It shows: Same as Disc.
Maybe there's a link.
