Web links automatic update timing - breaks links

We are trying to scroll several web pages (27) and the links seem to break after the first pass thru. It looks like the automatic update feature is polling slower then I need it too. Is there a way to have the individual page links updated when it publishes them? Or is there a place to change the "periodic" setting to every minute. What happens is the pages come up completely blank.

Disabling Java Web Start Automatic Updates

Hi,
my manager is a bit concerned about JWS automatically updating itself.
It doesn't bother me as much as, say, Windows automatically updating itself,
but what if Sun inadvertently adds a serious bug which stops my app working?
It would be nice to be able to choose whether or not JWS does this, and to be able to
manually check for updates, in the Application manager.
Anyone else here share this thought?

Java Web Start does not ever auato update itself, only the applications that are launched with it.
Starting with Java 1.4.2_01 The Java Runtime Enviornment itself began containing the ability to auto update itself, but :
1.) If 1.4.2_01 auto-updates to 1.4.2_05, both versions remain available on the machine, (and a webstart app can specify either the exact version it wants, or a range ov versions)
2.) The update policy can be set by each user thru the Control Panel, and the default is to prompt the user before installing.

Updated apps break links with dock icons (Mac OS)

When apps are updated via the CC desktop app, they sometimes (not always) come down with a new name which causes the link in the dock to break.
This would be a nuisance with one or two apps, but when a CC user has (like I do) a dozen icons in their dock it means that every major update requires several broken dock icons to be replaced. And if (like me) the user has more than one login on their machine (for separate personal and business workspaces) then the nuisance is doubled.
For example, I have just downloaded "Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1", which has removed the earlier version leaving an orphaned dock icon ("Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014"), for the sake of adding ".1" to the file name.
As a general principle, version numbers do not belong in an application name; there is a perfectly good field in the file info window for version number which is where practically every other vendor puts theirs.
This comes on top of the muddle of versions which has meant there are three "current" versions of some apps, for instance Photoshop (CS6, CC and CC 2014).
The other problem with your system is that in a few short months "CC 2014" apps will be outdated, if not in practise, certainly in name.
Some creative brains need to be exercised on this, don’t leave it to the nerds.

If it happens in a new user you may be able to repair this with the 10.5.4 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

Excel formulas do not automatically update anymore breaking all my spreadsheets!

Hopefully Apple can patch this issue soon! None of my spreadsheets in Excel update with the proper values once I switched to Mavericks. I have a lot of formulas that I use for scientific calculations, but now I must manually click on each cell to get the proper value to update whereas this happened automatically in Mountain Lion. I don't know how to fix this issue so I'll just have to be extra careful with my data until this issue is resolved!

Does update links automatically work when we copy and paste?

Hi all!! :) I've got a question after i've tried DW CS3 for
few days: I notice that when i cut and paste a web page from a
folder to another folder within a local site, the links
automatically update (after clicking to choose update when a prompt
box appears) but there is nothing happens when i try to copy and
paste. Does update links automatically mode works only when we cut
and paste or did i do something wrong? If its the second case, can
anyone tell me how to fix it? Thanx 4 reading my post ^_^!!

My suggestion is that it works that way because when you copy
and paste the original document still remains in the folder and
therefore Dreamweaver doesn't see it as a moved file.

Blackberry Link automatically data from handset

HI guys,
1.Does anybody know how I can stop Blackberry Link automatically updating information stored on my Q10 handset onto my laptop? Basically whenever my Q10 is connected via Blackberry Link - a Blackberry Q10 folder automatically appears and creates each relevant folder for pictures/music/videos within my documents however I do not want this to happen, there are some things which I want to keep on my handset and not on my laptop, anything such as media items e.g. videos and pictures I would want to manually copy from my handset to my laptop.
2.My pictures folder within Blackberry Link also somehow starting downloading all my facebook photos to within BB Link?! I do not want this to happen, I wasn't even logged into facebook for this where can I stop that happening?

I have found the way to rectify this....
If you turn off automatic sync, you can manually sync files between your computer and your device. You must also manually sync any changes to the files that you manually synced.
On your computer, open BlackBerry Link.
At the bottom of the screen, click your device.
Click the Settings icon.
In the Settings view, click Synchronization.
Do any of the following:
To turn off automatic sync for your music, clear the Musiccheckbox.
To turn off automatic sync for your pictures, clear the Picturescheckbox.
To turn off automatic sync for your video, clear the Videoscheckbox.
To turn off automatic sync for your documents, clear the Documents checkbox.
To turn on automatic sync, select the checkbox beside the types of files that you want to automatically sync.

Sub-layer created when breaking link to symbol bad idea?

When breaking the link to a symbol the contents is put into a sub-layer. I see no value in this and I am constantly disposing of the new layer. If it were a group it would be simple because groups don't exist without content, but layers must be deleted. Does anyone else have this grip or can you convince me this is a great new idea? I'm pretty sure this did not happen in CS4.

Just group the symbol before breaking link and when you "break link" the resulting artwork is a nested group instead of a sub-layer. No more useless layer to deal with.

"relink" problem in InDesign CS4: links are updated automatically

Hi folks,
we use a script to relink our InDesign documents when the links have been moved on the file system.
Inside the script we just call link.relink(...) but not link.update().
We experience a different behavior between CS3 and CS4 after the script has run.
CS3:
Links that have been modified after moving and before relinking are then shown as modified (with a yellow mark ) in the Links tab.
CS4:
The links are all shown as uptodate.
Seems like the update()-function has been called automatically.
Is there a option to just relink the links in CS4 but not to update them?

I can even do it as a "service" - so you can put INDD file in special folder (WatchedFolder) and script can analyze INDD file, make report and then you can decide "off-line" what should be done with "problematic" images.
I think I can even make it with option to see preview of "problematic" images in report so you can make decision without opening INDD file. Then you can upload report with selected options back to WatchedFolder to finish "conversion".
Even if you work on Mac - it shouldn't be a problem for you to use this tool - you only need to have one PC connected to your local network. To go further - on the same PC could be installed web server (Apache+PHP+mySQL) and you can controll everything from web browser

After my windows 7 computer did automatic updates, everytime I click on a link I get a not responding message and have to wait almost a minute for the program to continue.

Last night, my computer running Windows 7 premium home edition downloaded some automatic updates. I came in this morning to find that it had done a restart after adding these updates.
Now, anytime I click a link or do something which requires a redirect to another web page, my program gives me the not responding message and I have to wait 30-55 seconds for the program to continue.
I have Firefox 4 and it was running smoothly up until this morning, so I can only assume that whatever the automatic updates were, there is something in them that is causing this error. I do not know what updates were installed.

I don't have that problem in Firefox 29 when I read Gmail or AOL (aim''.''com) webmail. When I click on a webpage link in an email I'm reading (example: http://www.tworivertheater.org/ ) the link opens in a separate Firefox tab.
Are you saying this doesn't happen in outlook''.''com webmail and the link opens in the same Firefox tab as the email itself? I don't use outlook''.''com webmail myself. Hopefully someone will be along who does, or see [[Problems with email and how to find help]].
It might help if you would confirm the type of link that is opening in the same tab as the email you are reading in your outlook webmail. If I misunderstood your problem, please explain it better.

SCCM Web page with link to update AV

We are using an f5 gateway to manage who can and can not access services inside our network. The solution
is APM. One of the checks is that the device AV is up to date. If the device AV files are out of date and the device is a corporate device we plan to allow users to access a secure portal to click on a link to update the definition files. Can we publish a
portal for users to carry out this function using our current SCCM (SCEP) solution. The portal/web page must be hosted in the DMZ with connections back to the SCCM server infrastructure.

Well, as the name implies, Internet Based Client Management (IBCM) allows clients to be managed while not connected to local intranet.
There is no web portal functionality though so I'm not sure what you're expecting there. The best that could potentially be had is to launch Software Center on a target system where the user could initiate the definition update manually. However, if the
system has the ability to connect to the site (via IBCM), this will already have been done for them automatically so there's no need for anything like this. This is a chicken and egg type scenario.
There are possible alternatives like initiating the update from a UNC (or possible web location) using a batch file but there certainly is nothing built in as discussed in your other thread:

Web link to pass the parameter to custom web app then update the field

Hi,
I have created the web link in service request object to refer Account Object. I want to let user able to select the account from web link then base on the current SR no and account that have created update the record in CRMOD. My question is how to pass the parameter out to my external web app so that they can update my SR correctly?

I'm on Firefox 3.6.21, and I got this problem today after a Greasemonkey update (To version 0.9.10, apparently).
Disabling Greasemonkey solved the problem, and re-enabling it reproduced the problem (middle-clicking links to open in new tab did not work, merely highlighted the link).
I should also note that while Greasemonkey was enabled and the bug was affecting me, Ctrl+Click to open links in new tabs was also broken.

EDIT: It appears this is a known incompatibility/conflict bug between current versions of Greasemonkey and Tab Mix Plus. Read more here:

EDIT 2: GREASEMONKEY HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED with a workaround to fix the problem. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/versions/ to install the update manually. InDesign CS6 not automatically updating links

In previous verisons of InDesign, if I select a linked file, then click "edit link" from the links panel, the link will open up in Photoshop or Illustrator or whatever program, and once I edit, save, and close the file, when I switch back to InDesign, the file would automatically update. CS6 is not updating. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this issue?

I tried trashing the preferences a couple times. No luck. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Same problem.
I haven't tried leaving the file open. What I generally do is:
1. From ID, click "edit link".
2. Once the linked file opens, edit as necessary.
3. Save the file, then close it.
4. Switch back to ID and it updates automatically.
I'll see if if works by leaving it open.
It's not the end of the world if it doesn't work. It's just more annoying than anything else.

In Numberland, a spreadsheet is an entire document.
There is no way to link different documents.
(2) in the message, you ask the way to link different tables.
This feature is available and is described in iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide (which is available for free from the Help menu).
Getting the info just requires a simple search in this available resource !

How to automatically update Smart LINKED Object

Hi.
This is my first post here, I'm French, so excuse any English mistake i may do.
I'm not an artist / designer / ..., still new about using image software editing like photoshop.
So i downloaded Photoshop CC to try it because i wanted to do something on my spare time.
I want to render digitaly a card collection based on a online Collectible Card Game (Duel of champions if you wanna know).
For this I downloaded their card art from their site.
Then i want to add several effect / filter to render them nicely.
So i read and watch many tutorial in this purpose.
I ended with a good result for 1 card.
Here is an example :

So what i did :
I get a source card art image, adding its red border, embossed it to get relief, adding a gloss effect in 3 different layers (the card art, the border and the gloss effect). Than i duplicate all this layers, swap them vertically and moved down to get a reflection.
I added a gradient to this new group of layers to have a nice fading effect to the reflection.
As I do not want to redo all the process again and again if I change main the source card Art, I want the reflexion to automatically update.
This was done using Smart object, both main source card Art and the (vertically swapped) reflexion card art using the same object storing my different main source card art.
So when i change in this object the main source card art used, it automatically change both the rendered card and its corresponding reflexion.
And then i Added a displacement filter to simulate a water reflection.
And the first problem (solved by now) occurred :
If i want to apply a filter to the group of layers corresponding to the rendered reflexion card, Photoshop have to convert and merged the whole group of layers into another new smart object and then apply a smart filter onto it. That worked but i lost the auto updating of the reflexion as the previous conversion have made Photoshop create in fact a whole new duplicated object storing a my different main source art.
So i partially resolved This by using Smart LINKED object instead of Smart object. I say partially because it is not really fully automated anymore.
Now if I change the main Source card Art to render a new one, I have to "manually" save file / update smart object to get the reflection updated.
I kinda accelerate this using a action performing a batch of saves to get a "save all" options (that clearly miss in photoshop). But for this i still have to open all my smarted linked object in order to apply the "Save All" batch.
But know I want to generalize the process to cards left, and render my whole card collection.
So i created a template based on what i've done so far using in this template Smart LINKED Object for the Main source card art and the reflected one. By the Way I exported the Reflection group in a PSD file, and refered to it as another Smart LINKED Object in my template. Doing so i'm sure Photoshop no more use a temporary PSB object correspond to the converted / merged reflexion Smart Object (remember : created in order to apply a smart Filter on it).
So what Happen now ?
I create a new testing psd file in witch i embed several new smart objects each one is an occurence to my template. Here i have to used smart Object and NOT smart LINKED Object because if so i'll always end up with the same rendered card several times. I have to get Phososhop create it own temporary duplicated object so a modification to one don't affect all the others after "Save All" batch on the corresponding working card.
So with what I have now, if I want to change 1 of the rendered card, i go its corresponding (duplicated) template object and from there i access again my LINKED object storing all my main source card Art.
I change to what source card art I want, and I have to open the reflection smart LINKED Object too in order to apply the "SAve All" batch.
Here is the "fun" (issue) thing : I have to apply the batch 3 time in a row to have the rendered card changed in my main testing psd file. I suppose saving 3 time time propagated the change along the Smart LINKED Object chain.
AND I have to make sure ONLY the corresponding smart (LINKED) Object file are opened before. If another file from a different rendered card is opened too the change will also be propagated to it and so having a duplicated rendered card. (I only want each card rendered once, but using the same template to avoid repetitive work).
So I explained in detail, but maybe not clearly, my situation and the step i went through.
TLDR
To summarize : I have a collections of Card art (jpeg).
I created a Template applying effect to render 1 card.
I created another template appliying same effect to render 1 REFLECTED card.
In both i use the same Smart LINKED Object that Store my collection on Card Art.
I make another Smart LINKED Object in the first template that reference the second one.
So with my first template I can update the rendered card and its rendered reflexion after changing the main source card art in the subsequent smart LINKED Object that store my whole cards art. I have to had all corresponding Smart LINKED Object file OPENED and save them all to have th updated result.
So not really automatic.
Then I want to render my whole card collection with effect and reflexion.
I create in my project a duplicate of my first template for each card to be rendered.
Then I have to open ONLY all subsequent corresponding Smart LINKED(or not) Object file of current working rendered card and change the main source card art, save all the file (several time to propagate change) to properlly update the current rendered card.
I have to do this for EACH of my duplicated template in order to render EACH of my cards.
Definitively not automatic process, and prone to errors.
Do you know a way to fully automatically render my card collection ? The only thing I want to do is chose one time the main source card art for each rendered card.
Finally another way to explain this issue and maybe get an answer is to instead explain simply what I want to do :
I have a collection of (jpeg) card art from an online card game.
I want to render them all with effect (gloss, emboss border, faded and water filtered reflection).
I want to do this automatically.
The only thing i manually want to do is chose the card art to be rendered for each of the card i want to render in my collection.

The delta load does not work for product categories but only products.So to bring in the new product categories into SRM you will need to start the load of the object DNL_CUST_PROD1 again.
The CRM middleware allows the following two methods for replication.
-Initial loads:
Launched manually (R3AS), the objects (customizing or business) are replicated between SRM and R/3, according to the filters you've put on the object (R3AC1 for Business objects like MATERIAL, R3AC3 for customizing objects like DNL_CUST_PROD0 and 1).
-Delta loads:
This option is only possible for Business objects, which is the case of MATERIAL.
With this option a daemon is launched between the 2 servers. Every modification made on an object on SRM or R/3 is transfered as soon as this object is contained in the filter retrictions (creation and/or modification). this is done through transaction R3AC4.
