Web module colour shift

As soon as I go to the web module in lightroom the colours in my images look terrible especially reds, and magentas. Even if I first change the images to sRGB it makes no difference. This only happens in the web module. Any ideas, as its making it unusable?
By the way this is in the html galleries not the flash ones.

Thanks for your quick responce Jao, my monitor is well callibrated, I publish books aswell as print my own images so my colour management is pretty good, and have had no issues anywhere else. Oh and yes it is a wide gamut screen - NEC.
Its the flash that caused the problem. I used one of these first and beacause the colours were ogg I flicked the images into an html template, but it made no difference.
Here's what I have found out.
I had to drop all the images back into the develop module and view them, at which point lightroom re-rendered the images to show the correct colour. I then went back to the web module but straight into the html template and the images were good.
Conclusion
The html is OK but if you use flash you need to drop images through the devolop module to correct the colours, going back to the library module dosn't correct it.
For windows the flash templates are useless.

Hey peeps, I am aware of this colour shift when saving images for web.  I have a designer resizing, cropping photos, and then saving on PC. He uses PC and when he sends the photos over to me on my Mac there is a big colour shift (photos are much lighte
Could anyone please explain exactly what he needs to do in order for these photos to look the same as the originals on my computer, basically no lightness shift?  Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Because the WWW is based on untagged (2.2 gamma) sRGB - your genius is probably sending you untagged sRGB if they were Saved for the Web (that's how I prepare my Web color).
Your Mac display should be profiled to 2.2 gamma (you are likely at the old default 1.8 gamma now if you're seeing a lightness shift on untagged sRGB)...if you want "your color" back in Photoshop, you will need to (re)Assign the sRGB profile...

  • LR Web Module color management problem

I stumbled on to this discussion thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3572174#3572174
initiated by “JimmysPhoto” because I have observed the same LR Web Module problem with images too saturated too much contrast and clipped highlights & shadows. Please note that this is not a settle difference, it’s a major change in the look of the image. I have a calibrated monitor using Spyder3 Elite. All other LR modules display the images exactly as I see in Development Module.
I did a test by exporting an image from the Dev Module to a file using the LR “Export “ function (from RAW to JPEG using sRBG color space) to a Windows file. When I display the image with the Windows Live Photo Gallery Viewer the image looks exactly the same as in the LR Dev module. However, opening this same image with IE-9 I get the same oversaturated look I see in the Web Module.
Because I use the LR Web Module to push photo galleries to my website host server I end up with images that do not look the way I processed them in LR – which is a serious issue for me. Was there any resolution to “JimmysPhoto” problems that I could benefit from?
    I use Win7 64bit, LR 3.X and a high quality Dell U2410 display.

It's very strange that both IE9 and Chrome browsers go to the trouble of doing colour management, but both do it wrong - in different ways!
To colour-manage an image for display, you have to:
Figure out the profile of the image (often embedded in the image, or if none probably assume sRGB unless you know the image colour space by some other means)
Figure out the profile of the monitor (Windows will tell you that, if the monitor has a profile, otherwise you can't colour manage)
Using the two profiles, convert the image from the image colour space , via a Profile Connection Space (typically CIELAB (L*a*b*) or CIEXYZ), into the monitor's colour space.
The hard work is 3; finding out the profiles is easy.
IE9 does 1 and 3 but not 2.  It goes to all the trouble of colour space conversion (step 3), but doesn't bother to look up the monitor profile.  It assumes sRGB, which will be approximately right for most monitors, but never exactly right, and hopelessly wrong for wide gamut monitors.
Chrome does 2 and 3 but not 1.  It goes to all the trouble of color space conversion, but doesn't bother to look up the image profile, assuming all images to be sRGB!
Why do the hard bit, but make a pig's ear of the easy bit?

  • LR.3.3 Web module not picking up image edits

When I create a slideshow in LR3.3, it does not pick up the edits that I made to the images. The only things it picks up are crop and maybe sharpening (hard to tell). Haven't had the problem before today. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Pierluigi Vernetto, thanks for that link. Though it was for a web module consumption of the persistence package, I was able to adapt it for use by my ejb module.
Here is my solution, under split-directory development workflow.
Create the persistence module, place the persistence.xml in that module's META-INF.
Create an Ant task in the build.xml to 'wlcompile' and JAR it to the EAR direcotries APP-INF/lib directory.
Exclude the persistence module from the rest of the 'wlcompile' and 'appc' tasks.
I was then able to inject it with annotation in my EJB module.
dvohra16, thanks for that pointer. Now that I've been able to solve, the pressure is off (and shifted to other things). But I will surely check your option out. If I can get that working, it will be much easier than tinkering around with the build.xml and would be the normal flow of split-directory development workflow.
As of now, I will say this thread as 'solved', but if I get it working the way you mention (on my sandbox project), I will surely come back and update this thread.

  • Hex colour shift from Indd to PH, both assigned sRGB

Hi everyone. I am doing some wire framing in indesign with buttons and other colours. I would like to keep everything pretty tight so when I use anything graphics from indesign and place them in photoshop I want the hex values to match. I have assigned both programs with sRGB IEC61966-2.1. But when I copy and paste into Photoshop the value changes slightly.
I have 2 colour with Hex values of:
    #59B124 - Green 89/177/36
    #FFD911 - Red 255/217/17
Made using the great script by in-tools. But when placed in ph the colour shift ever so slightly. Green becomes #58b023 and the Red becomes #fc1713. Is there any way to make sure when these copy over the colours match.
    Thanks
    lister

by not including a profile and not colour managing either apps
Not including a profile doesn't mean there's no CM. If there's no document profile assignment, the Color Settings' Working Space is used instead. So without document profiles, and an RGB Working space of sRGB in both programs, the preview of 89/177/36 would be the same. It looks like when document profiles are used there's some kind of conversion when you cut and paste, which shouldn't happen.
You could leave your docs with no profile assigned and then when you save for web include the working sRGB profile

  • Colour shift when using 4.2 Edit In to adjust a NEF file in CS6

If I choose Edit In and CS6 the resulting image in CS6 shows a marked colour green/yellow colour shift.
The LR4 external editor is configured to edit using ProPhoto RGB with 16 bit TIFF.
However, if I use the Export option with the same settings and then open the image in Photoshop it is fine.
Equally, if I first convert the NEF image to a DNG and then use Edit In with the same settings it also appears fine in Photoshop. This would appear to rule out any issues with monitor profiles (monitor profiled with i1).
Therefore this appears to be an issue with NEF files (Nikon D3) using the Edit In facility.
Also for some obscure reason it also does not always give the option to Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments and just goes straight to Photoshop (even though it has been adjusted in Lightroom!).

    manicfoto wrote:
Richard,  perhaps I have not made the issue clear.   If I import an image into Lightroom and choose Edit In Photoshop it should go straight to Photoshop as no changes have been made in Lightroom.  However, if I make any adjustments in the Develop module and choose to make further changes in Photoshop I should have the option to Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments etc.  This dialog is not offered consistently.
If I make a change in Photoshop it should (and does) correctly save it as a new TIFF file.  Again if I make any adjustments in Develop module and then choose to make further changes in Photoshop to the TIFF file it should still offer the dialog box with the copy options.  Again this is not happening consistently.
Richard correctly explained how 'Edit In' works with raw files, at least that's the way it does on my Windows 7 64 bit system.
When selecting 'Edit in' with a raw file the 'What to Edit' popup with options for 'Edit a Copy with LR adjustments,' 'Edit a Copy,' and 'Edit Original' will not appear. Instead a TIFF file is created in system memory with LR adustments applied, which then opens in PS. Until you hit 'Save' in PS the TIFF file resides only in system memory. Once you hit 'Save' or Save As' (with the same folder location) the TIFF file will appear inside LR with both the LR and PS adjustments applied.
    manicfoto wrote:
trshaner, I have done some further testing of the DNG files, and they do, in fact, also exhibit the same colour shift behaviour, although the amount of the shift seems to depend on the original image - some images show a more marked shift than others which was not obvious to me at first.
This is consistent with LR output rendering engine problem if both the NEF and DNG copy for a specific image take on the same color shift. Since the effect is very subtle on a single conversion I can see where you might have confused the DNG as looking OK.
    manicfoto wrote:
I then performed another test with a TIFF file and although the change was smaller the colour definitely shifts, with the amount of shift being determined by the contents of the original image, so I have to conclude that I have the output rendering issue mentioned earlier in the thread.
Incidentally, the colour shift issue is also found if I use the option to Open as a Smart Object in Photoshop.
I have re-installed Lightroom 4.2 but the problem is still the same.
To really confirm that this is being caused by the LR output rendering engine you will need do an additional 'Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments'  to the TIFF file. This will create a 2nd TIFF file, which you can then select and then 'Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments.' I would do this at least three times to insure you can see the "cumulative' effect from the LR output rendering engine conversion. You will want to compare the last TIFF file (4th) with the original (1st) TIFF file.
Please try this and post the histograms for the original TIFF and last Tiff with three cumulative 'Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments,' or confirm that's what you have already done in the above posted histograms.

  • Dng colour shift from bridge to jpg's....cs2

Hello everyone. I am very new at this so I really hope that someone can help me.
    I have a new eos 5 mark 11.
I use cs2 which doesn't recognise the RAW images. I have downloaded dng and started colour correction in bridge.
I have saved the files as jpg's but........ there is a huge colour shift. They look terrible.
What am I doing wrong?? please help.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. As far i discovered that Photoshop as default display images without any proofing. Fax viewer in windows is color managed (at least in theory). That's why adobe created sRGB (for viewing on screen).
Try to turn on proof colors (ctrl + y) and set it to monitor RGB. This will show you your terrible jpg's in PS.
Saved jpg's in PS looks brighter, but less vivid.
RAW (converted or not) files saved as jpg's look far worse (terrible, as you said) in windows fax viewer, but I don't know why. Try to compare it, shooting RAW + jpg. Jpg's looks ok (better in bridge), RAWs looks ok in PS, but after saveing them as jpgs... (without proofing) they are so bad! RAW are great, but sometimes it's pointless to shoot in RAWs, becaouse you will have a lot of work to develop good settings. This drives me crazy , when jpg from camera looks better than RAW file (no correction).
You can show bad jpgs as good jpgs in web using photoshop express gallery (I gues it uses same engine as PS and Bridge)

  • Colour shifted in iPad vs MacPro/MacBook Pro 17

I had created CMYK file in Adobe Illustrator CS6 for business card/logo, etc. I placed the Ai file into InDesign CS6 business card document (two pages).
Then output the InDesign business card document as high quality print PDF. Just out of my curious, I opened the CMYK print file on my iPad 2, and noticed quickly that the colour shifted sightly on iPad 2 as opposed on MacBook Pro 17 unibody and Mac Pro - 12 core.
I suspect that it has a lot to do with CMYK color management setting on InDesign's preflight export to PDF?
Just tell me what exactly did I do wrong? Am I assuming the color shift is because of CMYK is not interpreted properly on iPad, only RGB, correct?
Thanks for some help and feedback. And please confirm this if I am assume wrong or right. And tell me why I think wrong. Or if I am right, or both ways? So I can troubleshoot in the right approach.
Look forward to hear some perspective. Have a good one.
    Best, Brian

    Rob,
Once again, I appreciate your insight perspective on more technical side of specific ICC profile workflow and PDF outputing workflow. I have jotted that down on my Moleskine workbook notes.
As for calibration app for iPad or iPhone or similar smartphone and tablet products, I agree with you on what you said. I don't think it is feasible thing, because Peter, yourself and I know that not all iPhone or iPad customers are colour management savvy as we are. On this regard, it is beyond what we can control over.
Again, thanks again for thoughtful perspective and discussion. Keep on coming up with more perspective and tips, I look forward to get most out of this particular more-technical workflow.
In the business card project itself has no photo file, just basic graphic design/logo - three colours.
As for digital photographic workflow, I certainly do know about ProPhotoRGB.icc profile as I use it religiously then covert to more appropriate output for web or print, etc. Of course, each specialized photo paper has the manufacturer's specific print profile assigned for EACH product. That is the whole other different story.
Anyway, thanks again for all you do...
    Brian

  • Lightroom 1.3 Web Module - Appearance Panel Partially Hidden

When I go to the Web module, the right margin of the Appearance panel is partially hidden such that I can't access all of the controls....it's driving me nuts. Is this just me or is anyone else having this problem. I can't figure out how to shift the panel horizontally. Any help would be appreciated. Happy New Year!

Try restarting LR. Try cycling between Fullscreen modes with 'f'.
Try Shift-tab a couple times to hide and show the panels to see if this affects the panel. Are you attempting to use, using two monitors?
Obviously I grasping at straws here, but this ain't usual!

  • How do I use the Web module to upload video to my website?

I'm using the Lightroom HTML gallery to upload my photos, fine and dandy, very happy with it. I also have some videos trimmed in Lightroom that I want incorporated into the gallery. This doesn't seem to be happening, instead I just get thumbnails. What/how do I incorporate my video clips into my web gallery? I moved over from jAlbum so I could have a simple one-tool workflow, so I'm really hoping that this is possible.

You can combine stills and video for output to h.264 (mp4 file) for example to upload to Youtube or Vimeo.
FTP upload will be subject to the limitations of your host. The web module within Lightroom creates all resources to link to the file index.html
The forthcoming LR6 is anticipated to have HTML5 galleries.

  • Integrate a Web Module's JSP into an iView in NetWeaver CE 7.2

    Hi everybody,
I am not sure whether this is the right spot to post this, but I will give it a try anyway.
We want to develop an Enterprise Application containing a Web Module. Basically it is a Java EE application that has a business tier consisting of a couple of beans and business objects and a web tier consisting of JSPs and servlets. What I want to do is to integrate it into the portal content via an iView. We only use a web module in order to integrate servlets to handle AJAX requests made via javascript and because you can only make a servlet-mapping within the web.xml (as far as I know).
Now I have created both the Enterprise Application Project as well as a Dynamic Web Project in the NWDS 7.2 according to the SAP manual. My servlet class as well as the beans are contained within the Dynamic Web Project's Java source folder. In the Web Content folder are the JSPs, css and javascript files. I deployed that application successfully via the NWDS and I can see under the application console of the NetWeaver Administrator that the application is deployed and alledgedly started, yet I cannot see it in the PCD. Therefore I cannot directly include it into a page and by that make it available to portal users. Also, I cannot access the application via the url http://<host>:<port>/<url as defined in application.xml>.
    How can this be done?
Normally, I would do this by creating an iView from Template in the PCD's folder containing my designated page and role and adding it to the page as a deltalink. Yet when I try to do this, the portal offers me a long list of iView types, none of which seem to match my desire of matching a Web Module or Enterprise Application. Is that possible at all or what do I have to do to achieve this? I had no problem to integrate my application as a Portal Application, which is also deployed as an .ear, but that lacks the possibility to use servlets - at least from my understanding, since I cannot integrate a servlet-mapping into the portalapp.xml and there is no web.xml in a Portal Application.
I have been trying this for two days now and didn't succeed. Is it possible at all, and if so, how? Any help is highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Serg

    Hello,
You can use the j2ee telnet console and using it you can deploy the files
you can follow the example given in the note

    after ADD DEPLOY
    DEPLOY <filename>.SCA
    I hope this should work

I want to use the Web module to publish to the a website... What kind of server do I need to be able to publish my website?

You don't need a server, you just need a web hosting package such as the ones from GoDaddy or many other hosts. You then send the web gallery directly from LR to your web space.
As you're asking such basic questions, it might be best if you read articles like this and see if a friend or colleague can get you started.

  • Colour shift from Snow Leopard to Lion

I initially noticed this problem within Lion and Lightroom 4 when printing to my Epson 4800. The colour shifts to a more pinkish hue in prints done in Lion. I'd originally thought this was unique to Lightroom, but the same thing happens to the same file when printed in Preview, so I'm assuming it ithe rhas something to do with Lion or the Epson printer. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience and if they have any suggestions. I've read other threads on this here, and I can confirm it's not a monitor calibration issue, and that my printer driver for the 4800 is the one for Lion, and that everything in Lightroom and the driver is configured identically in both versions of the OS.
I'm stuck, and figure the expertise for this is in this forum, so I'm sorry that it seems to be slightly outside of being an Adobe specific issue, but would appreciate any suggestions. I'm able to replicate the problem consistently by bouncing back and forth between the two operating systems. I'm going to try going back to a previous driver version to see if that makes a difference.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    Chris

Problem solved. The previous driver for the printer - the 10.6.8 one, did the trick, so I'm going to assume this is an Epson issue. I have a 9880 here as well and it will be interesting to see if the issue recurs there. Of course, if I've missed anything here, please let me know, but I think this addresses the issue, and hope it helps anyone else who may have it as well.
    Cheers, and phew.
