Web Module: Flexible Browser Preview

It would be really useful to be able to select different browser to preview web gallery output from within LR, rather than be stuck with the default browser popping up each time I click the "Preview in Browser" button in the Web Module.
Different browsers can give different results, and I always feel the need to test how Firefox, Opera and the old IE X for Mac will handle output, as well as my default (Safari). Currently, this means going into Safari's Prefs to switch defaults, or exporting and using "Open with..." on the index.html file. Neither option is very efficient...
Maybe an Alt + Click on the Preview in Browser button could give a choice of browser??

Rick -
I tried republishing it in a different output name and I
still had the same issue.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the click boxes
because I erased the first project I did and started from
scratching, thinking I might have corrupted the file. It worked
fine until I inserted the click boxes. I also took another demo I
created without the click boxes. Once I added the click box and
tried to preview it in Web Browser mode it started to freeze after
the first slide.
I don't understand why others can view the published version
on their computers but I can only view it in Captivate preview
mode.
I also tried reinstalling Captivate and that didn't help.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks so much!

  • Web module exports all the different preview sizes

    Trying out the web module - I select a flash template with extra large previews. When I export to Dreamweaver, not only are the Extra large previews exported but also large, medium etc. This means that if I upload to my server I will use far more space than necessary. Can I prevent this? Or can I simply delete all but the extra large pictures?

    When exporting a Flash gallery it does export three sizes. Those three sizes are "relative" to the "preview size" setting, which you could kind of think of as setting the size for the "largest" of the three. When the gallery is loaded into a browser, the gallery automatically detects the size of the window, looks at the rendition sizes available, and then downloads the largest rendition size that will fit into the window. It then does some pretty sophisticated pre-fetching of the other images of that size based on user behavior (linear vs non-linear browsing of the gallery). The gallery does not download the other renditions at all - unless the end user changes the size of their browser window such that a different rendition size should be used. The gallery does not real-time scale the images inside Flash - except in the case where the browser window is made too small for even the smallest rendition, in which case it will scale down the image in real time (this is why your "trick" works). In Beta 4, the gallery threw scroll bars on the images themselves if the window was too small. I think the 1.0 approach is much better.
    Granted this takes up extra room on the web server, (pretty cheap these days though) but if there were only one rendition, it really should be a size that will fit on 800x600 monitors - which is still well over 10% of web users, which would mean it would need to be pretty dang small given OS chrome, browser chrome, headers, etc - and then if you had thumnails across the bottom... Is all this overkill? When I look at galleries like the one at http://www.computer-darkroom.com/antarctica_2007/index.html in a maximized window on my hi-res monitor, I grow to really love the multiple rendition approach.

  • Previews not appearing in Web Module

    Veteran LR user here. Since updating, LR 5 consistently causes snags (for us) when creating web galleries. Here's the workflow: after editing raw files and applying settings, we have a nice folder of images cropped and ready to preview with client.
    Now, when we go to the Web Module, the previews are grayed-back in the Filmstrip, and images won't appear in any of the web gallery templates (either custom ones we designed or the preset versions.) We've tried everything from flagging and staring images to get them to appear. Also save metadata to all the images in the folder.
    The only thing that seems to work is to close LR5--with backup and catalog optimization--then, we re-open LR5. That seems to "free up" the Web Module. Upon reopening LR5, our folder of images suddenly appears when we go to the Web Module.
    This is an unaceptable work around b/c closing and optimizing takes alot of time.  Making web proofing galleries used to be a snap in previous versions of LR, now we're stumped in LR5 trying to figure out what we're doing wrong.
    Anyone's help would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

    It isn't Lightroom itself, or everyone would be seeing it. I'm currently working on a new plugin myself and all is fine-useless to you, but it may reflect something in your setup, like corrupt preferences. There is also an occasional jQuery problem in Lightroom where the whole system needs a reboot to get Lightroom back in gear.
    I'd backup and remove preferences, then start Lightroom and see how it goes.

  • Web Module HTML Templates fail to render colors per Preview

    Help... any HTML Template in the Web Module only displays a white background. All my web site pages I've made using the Midnight Template.  Now, and I don't know as of when it changed, but now all white.   Flash Templates render OK, just like the Preview shows.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but I almost never use IE (only if another download requires it).  Not even sure which version comes with Win7.  Perhaps a Windows Update changed something?  I always use FireFox.  I had been using a dual boot system for awhile, with WinXP on another drive.  I had no trouble with the Midnight template there, but I've never been able to see the Midnight template in Win7.

  • Lightroom web module

    Re "Lightroom Web Module"
    In the "site info" panel, I type the word "exit"
    In the "web or mail link" section, I copy and paste the web page address of the page on my site
    I wish it to be directed to.
    I preview this with the Lightroom "Preview in Browser" button.
    All works perfectly well including the exit link.
    I then export it into my website "local file".
    Create a link from text on my web page to the lightroom created gallery (I'm using Dreamweaver)
    Then save changes in Dreamweaver and click preview in browser.
    The Gallery works fine with the exception of the exit link.
    I have the same problem in the Web HTML Gallery
    I have also downloaded Lightroom 3.6 from Adobe labs and had the same result.
    Any Suggestions
    Many thanks...David

    Hi Pete. Thanks for your reply.
    Tried replacing exit with home without any results
    Doubbled checked the link address was correct in lightroom...it was.
    Just tried something I had not tried before. Up untill now, I was using only the "preview in browser" in
    Dreamweaver.
    When I uploaded the gallery to the remote server and went to see if it worked on my site it did !!!!
    Not sure why it won't work in the "preview in browser" in dreamweaver but.....a question for bigger brains than mine..
    Many Thanks for your help

  • Lightroom 3 - Web module - Unable to load Flash Player

    Running to most uptodate version of Lightroom 3 - on OS X 10.6.4 also fully up to date.  Have downloaded and installed the latest Flash Player from the site.  This problem seems only to be on my 2.8ghz iMac with 2 gig of RAM.  Lightroom 3 and flash galleries work great on my 2ghz Macbook with 2 gig of RAM.
    When accessing the web module and trying to use one of the flash templates I either get a blank black screen or a white one with the error message of Unable to Load Flash Player.  From there I hit the Preview in Browser button and a flash gallery did come up in Safari, just not in Lightroom.
    Does anyone else have this problem, and more importantly how did they solve it.........

    Replying to myself.... I solved the problem by creating a new User Account in my OS.  Solved the Lightroom problem and also a problem with Mini Bridge in Photoshop CS5, where it wouldn't open Bridge.

  • Browser preview menu bar navigation problems

    Hey everyone I have a very strange problem that I honestly have no idea at all how to handle.
    Below is a template I've put together. It's for a pump repair business site (to provide clarity on any content).
    Everything was going smoothly, until I previewed it in the browser (using Firefox and Chrome). I can jump from page to page about twice, but, after that, especially when I try to return to the home page, I recieve an error like this:
    ' No webpage was found for the web address:file:///C:/Users/John/Desktop/Design/Merit%20Pump%20Website/MeritPump_Template.dwt '
    And I am also not able to access my submenus in the browser preview, and inevitably NOTHING will work after the first few jumps between pages.
    My code is below. Thank you so much for any help- this is my last major roadblock before I am able to publish.

  • Content in a Web Module

    Hi,
    I am having a very irritating problem. I want to use a filter to transform some content however I do not want the content to have to be inside the .war archive.
    If I place the content in any other location the filter cannot be set to operate on it.
    If I place the content in the .war archive then every time a designer changes the content I have to rebuild and re-deploy the web-module.
    Any idea how I can either have content (which is not in a web-module) be accessed through a filter , or how I can have content appear in a web-module from some other location?
    Please help, this is a real show-stopper for our project. Thanks.

    I don't think filters are really the way to go about this, rather, create a servlet that handles requests something along these lines:
    void service(HTTPServletRequest request, HTTPServletResponse response) {
      // get document root, base directory for all the xml files
      String docRoot = request.getServletConfig().getParameter("docroot");
      // get the document name
      String path = request.getPathInfo();
      // do some checking on path to make sure it doesn't contain
      // '..' or anything like that, throw an exception if it does.
      // create a java.io.File object representing the file:
      File file = new File(docRoot, path);
      if (/*browser is IE6*/) {
        // open the file (using FileInputStream) and copy it to
        // request.getOutputStream()
      else {
        // pass the file through an xslt transformation that outputs
        // to request.getOutputStream()
    }If this servlet is bound to a context called "context1", and the servlet is bound to "xml", requests for eg. /context1/xml/dira/dirb/doc1.xml will result in request.getPathInfo() returning "/dira/dirb/doc1.xml", given that the servlet-mapping element in web.xml is specified correctly (use a wild card: /xml/*).
    And be warned, I just typed this in without trying to compile it, so it probably contains bugs!

  • Font in Design View different from font in Live View and browser preview

    My external style sheet has the body set for a sans-serif font and there is nothing to contradict it in the HTML documents. But while I get sans-serif in the Design View (as you would expect), I get a serif font in Live View and Browser Preview, not to mention on the Web itself.
    How is this possible (and what should I do about it)?

    Murray and David: it worked! It is a rare and joyous experience to have a straightforward solution to the sorts of problems I come up with (including other realms). But I have to say that with HTML and CSS (and hence with Dreamweaver), solutions to difficulties have seemed within easier reach than in other parts of the computer world.
    By the way, I wanted to choose "correct answer" for both your posts, but after making the first click it was no longer available for the remaining post--so I typed "helpful" even though that one was correct too.
    Thanks again.

  • Pasted lightboxes do not show when uploaded but do on browser preview

    I created the lightbox display on the first page and then as i worked from page to page i would paste the original lightbox to the new page and replace the images and the captions but when i upload the site it doesn't show the lightboxes on the pages that i pasted the lightbox into it is just blank but the headers and footers are ok. The lightbox shows in the browser preview with all the images and captions.
    all the images are there in the assets folder

    Search the knowledge base for NET Red X and try out the solutions there.  If you are using .NET 2005 make sure to focus on the ones for it first.  It is usually either a web.config setting or not having the asp_client folder in the correct place.

  • Flash gallery in web module not showing

    When using the web module the flash galleries do not show anymore; there is simply a black screen in the center panel. The HTLM galleries show alright. The problem started a few days ago when I updated to Adobe Flash Player 11. Any suggestions?

    I don't know that much about PC's, but you need to open the browser and click on the preferences, I think in the same way as you would do with a Mac and click on select javascript.
    Rather than Firefox, get them to download a copy of Safari for PC from the Apple site.
    Other than this I am not really sure of a solution, other than telling them to buy a Mac instead!!

  • How to make Web module produce different-sized JPEGs for different pictures?

    Hi --
    Googled this question, searched the "help" on Lightroom, searched Adobe, downloaded the latest version of Lightroom, searched this forum, no help, so I'm asking:
    I'm using the Web module in Lightroom (which I've already used to create five other sites) to put together a site. Normally, I just set the JPEG size to "1024" with the "Size" slider under "Image Pages," and normally that's fine.
    In this case, however, I'm posting some telephoto shots of dolphins and some of the pictures are cropped below 1024 on both height and width of the raw image, and so LR renders a JPEG that it upsamples and of course it looks terrible.
    Is there a way say, "okay, LR Web module, 1024 pixels' width or height is fine for most of the pictures, but these two shouldn't be more than 400 pixels on either dimension?"
    In case it matters, I'm running LR on a Vista 64 system, 3 GB RAM.
    Even if you can't help, thanks for taking the time to look at the question!

    Hi,
    The slide duration in presenter is automatically adjusted according to the time of the audio inserted on that slide.
    How are you inserting audio on slide ? Recording or inserting  using presenter option ?
    You cannot create a movie format like avi, mp4 etc
    But you may publish the presenttaion in the swf format which will play in a browser or a swf player. To play in the broswer you just need to have Adobe Flash Player installed on your system. It will play like a movie in the broswer.
    Let me know if you need some more help
    Thanks,
