Web Object web page underneath Captivate

I have a video embedded in a web page. That web page is then inserted into a Web Object. The video controller has a full-screen button. Like this:
When full-screen is activated the video appears BEHIND the Captivate web page like this:
This only happens when published as Flash and viewed in Windows Explorer on Windows 7 (as far as I'm able to test). Of course, this is what our client will be viewing this with. It works just fine On Windows XP, Chrome, Safari and HTML5. In those cases the video appears on top of everything like it should. Does anyone know of a solution to this?

I think by Windows explorer you mean Internet Explorer.
Can you tell me the version of Flash installed along with the version of Internet explorer on your computer ?
Are you trying to open a swf file or a .htm file ? Please open .htm file and then check.
Please create a blank project with only one slide with webobject interaction and see if you are able to reproduce the issue.

Screen Recording, Web page scroll to bottom is jerky

No matter how much I try to get the scroll to be smooth while I move down to the bottom of our organization's web pages the Captivate screen recording is jerky. I also can't change the duration of the slides. I believe I have tried all option (FMR, Automatic, Panning, No Panning, Automatic Panning, Window, Full Screen, Application Region, Applicaiton Window).
Have watched webinars by Pooja (http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2012/08/screen-capture-enhancements-in-adobe-captivate-6. html#more-5367) and Allen P. Each shows these super cool "zooms" intto a section of the screen and then zoom out to see the whole screen. Nowhere can I find the how-to for that nifty trick. I have watched Adobe TV and the man in the video demonstration is close to reading the help file verbatim. Other videos say wonderful things like, "If you check the FMR option Captivate will provide a full motion recording." Duh. Question is, how to use FMR vs. Full Motion vs. Manual.
In short, I want to make screen demos like the evangelists do. Where do I learn how to do that?

Michael, I suspect the evangelists aren't using Captivate for their demos. I believe they are likely using Presenter Video Creator. Presenter is an add in for PowerPoint. I'm not sure, but it's likely that the Presenter Video Creator only ships with one of the suites. You might check to see if you have it installed. For me, on Windows 7 64 bit it's found in this location:
"D:\Program Files\Adobe\TCS34\Adobe Presenter Video Creator 8.0 x64\Adobe-Pr-VC.exe"
Note that I've deviated from the normal installation path. But it should give you an idea of where to look to find it.
If you have Windows 7, the way I always launch it is by clicking the Start button and just typing Presenter Video into that box above the Start button.

Embedding connect asset (captivate project) in web page

How do I reference a Connect address (asset) such as from the Connect server that don't end in an html file using the embed command in html so that the content shows on my web page?
a.    I tried the flash object and movie in dreamweaver CS3 but I couldn’t get it to work.
b.    If I upload the swf files to the same server as the web page I can use the embed command to push the swf files on a web page. I bypass the html page that makes the plugin announce a security warning.
c.    If I do that the FLVs don’t play using Captivate 3 on an http server.
d.    My Captivate projects works when I play the URL from the Connect Server and the FLVs play but I can’t embed them in a web page. Can I see some sample code.

Thank you for your response, this was helpful, however the problem remains as to how the video is seen in the frame. Unless I specify a height for the iframe, (which I don't want to do as it need to be responsive) the height of the captivate project has huge borders, margins which I can't seem to get rid of when it is part of an iframe?

Captivate 7 Web Page Widget misaligned - Transform Property

I just upgraded to Captivate 7 and am using a Widget to embed Web Page content for the first time.
The project looks fine when I preview it, but when I publish it and post it to our LMS (SumTotal Maestro), the widget appears skewed in the resulting course window, like the whole widget just shifted 60 pixels to the left and 30 pixels down.
I have tried using multiple web sites, so I don't think that is the problem.
There is the Transform Property, which gets set automatically when you drag the widget around the interface screen. On a hunch I moved the widget's Transform Property 60 pixels right and 30 pixels up. That worked, in that the updated widget looks better in the final published project. But now it's skewed both in the workspace and when I preview it, not to mention getting it precisely where it needs to be is going to be a process of moving a couple of pixels, publishing and seeing how it looks, then repeating.
Has anyone encountered this? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere that messes up the Transform property?

Here is the reply (in bold) I got from Suresh Jayaraman from Adobe when I logged this as a bug.
"The issue you are facing has nothing to do with SCORM setting. Probably you might have heard about Click Jacking , One of the ways web sites prevent themselves from this attack is by not displaying when loaded in a Frame or iFrame. They achieve this by setting the X-Frame options. They website you were trying to load in Web object was Adobe forums which has this protection and it is the case with some other websites like Google.com, facebook.com as well. As Web object interaction on run time loads the website in an iFrame such protected websites when loaded doesn’t show up."
"I have attached a test file which would help you to determine whether the website you are loading is Click Jacking protected or not. Change the website address and launch the page from a web server and if it loads all is well, it would load in your Web Object interaction as well. Now enable reporting and try the same page from SCORM.com and It should display the page."
The test file he is referring to is a html file. Since I cannot attach the file here, I am copy-pasting the source code:

To test, first I changed the website address in the above code to that of Adobe forums. When I had inserted this site in my Web Object interaction, this site failed to show up (see my previous posts). When I launched this test file shared by Suresh from a webserver, the result was same... the site did not open.
Next, I changed the website address to http://infosemantics.com.au. This site worked in Web Object Interaction and it worked here as well.
I did not test it in SCORM Cloud as I was convinced by the reason Suresh provided. (I hope I am not wrong.)

Captivate 6: Can I hyperink to a web page from an image?

In Captivate 6, can I hyperlink to a web page from an image?

You can fill a smart shape with the image using the Texture button, but beware: choose a shape with the same size as the image. Maybe Sreekanth is telling the same, but I didn't get his 'assign custom image to it'? And if you want to have a pause for a shape button, you have to check it in the Timing accordion.
Another approach is to put a click box on top of the image. You can open the URL in another window using the small triangle drop down list, and be sure to uncheck Continue Project to avoid that the playhead will continue.

Hyperlinks to web pages don't work in Captivate 7 or 8

When I design hyperlinks to web pages work but once published they don't. How do i get hyperlinks to web pages to work in Captivate 7 or 8

I should have read that more closely.
It doesn't seem to apply. The only reason that would matter is if you were running the SWF-output from Captivate locally.
ALWAYS test your product from the web to avoid any such security issues.
But yes, if you're putting the published file on a local/network drive, then that security change will need to be applied and, yes, for every computer that accesses the file.
You definitely want to distribute from an HTTP location.
I did hope the first part of that article would help. They're not difficult to setup once you find the option. Just highlight some text and right-click to setup the hyperlink...right?

Callable Object Type as Web Page

Hi,
I am trying to create a GP programatically. I want to use the CO tyoe as web page, but I am not able to understand how to set the URL for the CO.
Here is my code:

Remove details for web page object types in search results

Within the search results, the first 200 characters are displayed for documents, web pages, etc.. Web pages show the HTML code. Is there a way to hide these details for web pages but have them visible for all other object types?

Install the prefspane, select Safari in the left hand list, and uncheck "Use new URL completion list".
You need to log out and log in again for it to work.

Openscript not finding object after a particular web page

In openscript, i recorder 1 script, while playback it is not identifying the object after a particular web page. The window().exist itself showing false.

Inserting applets in web pages using object

Hello,
I'using the following code to insert an applet into a web page:

this works well in every browser I've tried (Opera, mozilla, netscape, k-meleon, firefox,...) but not with Internet Explorer. If I use the <applet> tag it does work, but then I can't validate the page as XHTML1.1
Can you help me with that?

The Java Plugin Developer's Guide for the Java version you use has infromation about the use of the object tag.

HTTP External Web Page Link Question

I found the following info when searching this group:
To open an URL from within a Designer generated form you will need to use the gotoURL method of the xfa.host object.
i.e. xfa.host.gotoURL("http://www.cnn.com");
You will need to create a object such as a button that when clicked will execute the above script.
My question is how do I do this? For example if I drag a button on to my form please tell me EXACTLY what I need to do after that. I'm sorry but I do not know what is the xfa.host object. I tried right clicking on the button but every option I tried did not work.

The Current option will launch the new web page in the same window as the Captivate course is playing. This will effectively mean that you leave the Captivate lesson and would need to relaunch the lesson again from the beginning. New - launches the URL in a new browser window. Parent and Top are not likely to be useful to you because they are only used when your course HTM page is playing in some kind of frameset with multiple levels. Parent refers to the frame in which your current window is playing. Top refers to the frame at the very top of the window hierarchy.
In your case you need to use the New option so that your user does not leave the Captivate lesson. Your new window will open on top of the Captivate lesson and when they are finished with that window they can just close it to get back to the Captivate lesson underneath.
Since you are launching your other URL via a button in Captivate, you need to remember this has only one pause point. As soon as you click that button the pause is released and Captivate will continue play. If you want this button to be permanently paused, you can do this using Advanced Actions.
Create an Advanced Action with two clauses. In the example below, I've called the AA LaunchURLandStayPaused. The first clause launches your URL, and the second clause will reset the value of the system variable that tracks the movies current frame. This effectively negates the pausing behaviour.
Set the On Success action of the button to Execute Advanced Action and then select the new Advance Action you just created from the drop-down menu.
You'll need to set up another button or click box for the user to click when they DO want to advance to the next slide.

HELP ! Banner with floating animation over web page

Hi, im fairly new at flash and i have to create an Banner but
it consist of an animation that appears from underneath the web
page and floats up to the area where the banner will be posted and
then transforms into the banner.(the floating object needs to have
some transparency)
I have about 16 different sizes for the banners cause they

You can put links in applets. You can put buttons and other input/output widgets in applets.
I don't think it's possible to make an applet be the background image of a web page, although you might be able to simulate that with layers.
Though if all you want is moving water as the background, the water moving conditionally, maybe you don't need an applet at all. Maybe you can do it more easily with javascript. Actually at this point I'm not sure if you really do have an applet; maybe you're just using the word as shorthand for something else?

Playing swf file by onclick in html web page

First time poster so please forgive any protocol lapses. I'm trying to play an AS3 swf embedded in my web page by an onclick javascript function in my page. Have tried many different ways, including the ExternalInterface class but no luck. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have a feeling that I'm overlooking something very basic.

No need to be sorry... one other thing... the url to the swf uses the "public_html" directory as a lead-in.

The public_html directory of a web site is typically where a web site's content is placed as the base for a web site on a host server. Unless you have a directory named public_html within what is probably already the public_html folder, then you do not want to specify that. It is more probably supposed to be...

If you look at the various images that are specified in the html code, they do not specify that directory. So if the swf is in the same folder as them, you do not want to be specifying the public_html part of that address.

Input value given on web page is not getting pickedup in event handler

I have created one simple page in SE80 with program with flow logic option, in which I would like to show business partner details from BUT000 table with the input of partner number. But the thing is the input value(partner no.)which I am giving on web page is not getting picked up in selection in event handler though I am giving input value it is becoming initial while selecting. What could be the reason?
Below I am mentioning the code which I have written in even handler for OnInputProcessing event.

How to send quiz results to a web page?

Okay, this should have taken 2 minutes, not 2 hours. Very frustrating. Here is the situation:
* Downloaded Captivate 5 Trial Version
* Created based quiz (which took forever to figure out how to set the correct answers -- HORRIBLE user interface for setup, but that is another issue)
* I want the results sent to a web page. I will code the web page & database calls, etc. to handle the information (I am a web developer). Just need the information sent somewhere!
Several big issues here:
1. When setting up a URL for the "Pass or Fail", nothing happens. User not taken anywhere. No "Post Results" button shown. The Captivate file just ends and that's it. ??
2. Finally figured out that I needed the "Internal Server" option chosen to have a Post Results button shown. Okay.
So when I click Post Results (after answering the 5 questions correctly), I am shown a login box. Why? What is this for? This is not needed. I am going to an INTERNAL SERVER. It is none of Adobe's business what this person's name/email is. What gives? Okay... anyways, I enter my own Adobe login information. It then says "Connecting..." then I get a Status Message that says "Unknown Error". Keep in mind this will be used by a general audience, of which approximately 99.9% will not have an Adobe ID, nor should they need one.
How I can easily have the Captivate file redirect the user to pages like this: Confirm.aspx?pass=yes or Confirm.aspx?pass=no.
I don't need anything fancy. But I do need something that works. This is terribly frustrating and I'm about to say it just doesn't work. Please tell me I am wrong.

The Quiz Results slide's Continue button actions are set under Quiz Preferences > Pass or Fail > If Passing Grade etc. By default, the Continue button is set to just continue on to the next slide after the Quiz Results.
After the user clicks the Continue button on the Quiz Results slide any Pass/Fail actions you've set up there will be evaluated and executed.
So if the user achieved a passing score, and you set up an action such as Go to URL in Current Window for that case, then the user should find themselves redirected to that URL. If there was a different action for Failure, and the user failed, then that should happen. But either of these will only happen after the Continue button is clicked.
I tested this by setting www.google.com as the go to URL and it worked. To see if the URL is the issue, try using another URL that you know everyone can get to. If that works, try to find out why the URL you want to use is not working. If no URL works, something else is interfering with the action.
