Web Page Database Help

I have built the site www.key-services.co.uk it is a website
promoting property management and Residential Lettings in cyprus.
If you look at the
Lettings Page
you will see that i have just created images and text box's to
display each propertys details. and when you click on it it just
goes through to a contact form.
now what i want to do is to create a feature where the user
can sort the propertys by size, Price, Location Etc and when they
click on the property it will go through to a page containing more
details.
I know i would need to create a database to do this but other
than that i have no idea, bit of a newb when it comes to dynamic
pages.
Does anyone know of a good application that will do this for
me, or a tutorial of how to set up a database myself.

*webserver is Linux, and i have access to a MySQL database
slots with my hosting company, if that means anything.

Ralph..........Did as you suggested and I am still getting the message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". I am not able to connect with anything on the Internet. Frustrating since I am able to connect with my laptop. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, i was on my laptop now and all of a sudden a pop up message appeared and said "your download is complete" so i went to go check it out and it was 'MacProtector'. i cant delete it and it keeps opening unwanted web pages, please help me sort this out?

Embedding expanding flash ads in existing web page.. help!

Hi guys!
I am having a problem and can't find a site anywhere that
helps. My company have just started selling expanding flash ad
spaces but I have no idea how to make these work on a current and
very clunky site. The space on the page I have for skyscraper ads
is 120px wide but obviously, flash ads that expand are much wider
((my current one is 240px wide) and need to expand over the rest of
the content. Does anyone know of a site or can tell me what I have
to do in my HTML and CSS to make these work?

Flash by default goes to the top layer when you put it in a
web page (an annoyance sometimes, but very convenient for this sort
of thing). Just size your ad for the non-expanded skyscraper, and
it should work.
This may not be the package you are using, but if you go to
dartmotif.com (a DoubleClick/Google site) and download their ad kit
and some ads, you'll find some documentation that may answer other
questions.

HTML code is showing up on web page! HELP!

I'm trying to write an index.html on TextEdit but every time I try to open it the HTML code doesn't render and the code just shows on the page. I saved it as a web page with the extension as HTML so I don't believe that the extension is the problem. Help?

How are you trying to open it? It must be opened in your browser. It must be located in your web server's user directory, and the web server must be running.
So in your browser you would put an address something like http://localhost/~yourusername/ or http://localhost/~yourusername/index.html

Adding content to a web page [was: Help with basic question (i think)]

Hi there everyone, first time in this forum.
Im creating a website for the first time in dreamweaver after using other programmes and have so far created a banner and nav bar across the left hand side. I am unsure on how i am meant to add any content into the actual centre of my page as there is no box there to write in or add pictures and when i create a image or div or table they all just hug the top of my page and refuse to go next to the navigation bar like i need to it! im sure it is simple but i am finding it so much harder to use than any other programme.
Im trying to do a list of pictures and descriptions for my mums business.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Harry, I have moved your post from the HTML5 Pack forum to the Dreamweaver General Discussion forum, which is the most appropriate place for this sort of question.
Dreamweaver is a professional web development program that requires at least basic understanding of the underlying web technologies: HTML and CSS. It's not a WYSIWYG program where you can just drag and drop items on a page. Downloaded update on ipod on wifi 0.6 could not sync with computer as it did not recognise my ipod on itunes but could not download 0.6 off itunes it doesnt seem to be on itunes suggested web page, please help

downloaded itunes 0.6 on my ipod over wifi, however when connected to my computer it would not recognise my ipod and suggested i went to www.itunes .com/uk but could not find or download 6, so now cannot sync my ipod with itunes on my computer, please help cheers.

By wiping both iPhone and iPod and trying syncing with another computer I've come to the conclusion that something with MobileMe sync is the problem.
I can set up both to work fine with my Mac Pro and a new Mac Book Pro as long as I don't set up MobileMe syncing. As soon as I sync with MobileMe I start having problems, particularly with Calendar.
MobileMe seems to work fine computer to computer, until the iPhone/iPod get involved, then the MobileMe copy gets messed up. Version on computer seems to stay ok.
Not sure where to go from here... other than call Apple or go to the Apple Store.

I cannot print web pages. Tried printing with IE and it worked, so this is Firefox-specific. I will have to stop using it unless someone can help me figure out why it won't let me print a web page. Help! Don't want to go back to IE!

Can't print from Firefox. ONLY Firefox, and only since downloading v.4. Can I get back to V. 3? Kind of reminds me of when Windows XP "advanced" to Vista.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

How to send quiz results to a web page?

Okay, this should have taken 2 minutes, not 2 hours. Very frustrating. Here is the situation:
* Downloaded Captivate 5 Trial Version
* Created based quiz (which took forever to figure out how to set the correct answers -- HORRIBLE user interface for setup, but that is another issue)
* I want the results sent to a web page. I will code the web page & database calls, etc. to handle the information (I am a web developer). Just need the information sent somewhere!
Several big issues here:
1. When setting up a URL for the "Pass or Fail", nothing happens. User not taken anywhere. No "Post Results" button shown. The Captivate file just ends and that's it. ??
2. Finally figured out that I needed the "Internal Server" option chosen to have a Post Results button shown. Okay.
So when I click Post Results (after answering the 5 questions correctly), I am shown a login box. Why? What is this for? This is not needed. I am going to an INTERNAL SERVER. It is none of Adobe's business what this person's name/email is. What gives? Okay... anyways, I enter my own Adobe login information. It then says "Connecting..." then I get a Status Message that says "Unknown Error". Keep in mind this will be used by a general audience, of which approximately 99.9% will not have an Adobe ID, nor should they need one.
How I can easily have the Captivate file redirect the user to pages like this: Confirm.aspx?pass=yes or Confirm.aspx?pass=no.
I don't need anything fancy. But I do need something that works. This is terribly frustrating and I'm about to say it just doesn't work. Please tell me I am wrong.

The Quiz Results slide's Continue button actions are set under Quiz Preferences > Pass or Fail > If Passing Grade etc. By default, the Continue button is set to just continue on to the next slide after the Quiz Results.
After the user clicks the Continue button on the Quiz Results slide any Pass/Fail actions you've set up there will be evaluated and executed.
So if the user achieved a passing score, and you set up an action such as Go to URL in Current Window for that case, then the user should find themselves redirected to that URL. If there was a different action for Failure, and the user failed, then that should happen. But either of these will only happen after the Continue button is clicked.
I tested this by setting www.google.com as the go to URL and it worked. To see if the URL is the issue, try using another URL that you know everyone can get to. If that works, try to find out why the URL you want to use is not working. If no URL works, something else is interfering with the action.

HT2506 In pages how can I link text within the document? I can find a bookmark option and links only allows me to link to a web page

This is my first time using this discussion site! Any help would be great, as I am getting very frustrated with pages!
What I am trying to do is link text at the bottom of a document to a page at the beginning of the document. I can't find a bookmark option adn when I clink insert link it only provides an options to link to a web page. Help! thanks

Bookmarks are missing (sadly) and with them, the ability to create an in document link.
I was looking for this feature in a Table of Contents. When you assign a 'style' to text in a document, you can Insert > Table of Contents. Then Pages will keep the TOC updated and you'll be able to 'link' from the page number in the TOC. (Not much help though, for the OP)

Itunes will not install as IE link "cannot display web page"

I have been having problems with downloading podcasts and iTunes updates. So I followed Apple support suggestions including removing and (trying) to reinstall iTunes. However every time I hit the link for the download it takes me to a small pop up window with the address shown below, which does not load and tell me that "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page"

How to add Portal iViews with Web Page Composer

Hi,
We are working with Web Page Composer in EP7.0 SP13.
We are creating web pages and we would need to add Portal iViews into. When we try to add an iView, we cannot select it from Web Content Browser to drop into the web page container.
How can we add iViews into our web pages?

It needs a lot of codes to handle the html links.A JEditorPane needs a dozen lines or so of code (I think there is an example either in
Sun's tutorial or in the API documentation itself. Look for HyperlinkListener).
Provided that your help files are reasonably simple (text/images/links) it would
seem a reasonable way to go. Handling the links yourself means that you
can include non standard links like "ex:whatever" to interact with your application
as it's running. Also such pages display sweetly as resources within a .jar file.

WPC - Restoring a Web Page Version

I have activated versioning on the Site Content and Web Pages level in WPC. I have published three versions of a web page and I wanted to restore the page to the first version.
When I click on "Versions" in the Editor, it displayed a list of versions and its corresponding "Restore" button. I click on "Click to View" of the 1st version, then click on "Restore".
After doing that, nothing happens. The Web Page remains on the latest version and restoring do not work. Even after clicking on "Finish", the page still remain on its active version.
Am I missing something on the config. level? or is there an additional step that I have to go through?
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Hi Soo,
If you activate versioning in the Web Pages folder, new Web pages in that folder are created with active versioning by default.
The setting in the Web Pages folder only applies to Web pages that you create after making the setting. It has no effect on existing Web pages.
