Web page different from opening link in a new tab or new window from Google search results

I had been using another browser for a few months because I did not want to lose the web pages I opened within Mozilla. I began using Mozilla again after saving off the web pages. I see that Google's web page pulls in search results as I type in keywords, a feature I don't remember seeing with other browsers along with a magnifying glass icon, like a look ahead of what a web page looks like before clicking on the link.
With the list of search results, I click on the link and tell Mozilla to open the link in a new tab. I see the google icon, "loading..." or "testing...", then results other than the link I wanted. Those other results maybe bing.com, http://66.45.255.230/click.php?c=0920f96609cb269f1d0045095c09, http://superpages.iarbiz.com/o6gIoMdG6so=-tQ1LeOu1v0kY34rDZ|oRy8Xt294ACu6X, Info.com, Supermedia Reverse Proxy (http://superpages.iarbiz.com/o6gIoMdG6so=-tQ1LeOu1v0kY34rDZ|oRy8Xt294ACu6X)or whatever else. As for the link, I managed to press stop before being redirected.
This is with any search results listed.
I thought it was Google.
Changed to Instant is off.
Nope. Still the same issue. Have already gone after malware. Tried resetting the redirect value to 0.
Above results also occur when opening the link in a new page via right menu click.
Copying link location and pasting in a new window is displaying results okay.
When resuming use of Mozilla, an update was available and installed. Did not experience the above issues before the update.
Running version 3.6.12. Running Win XP Pro SP3.
Had to go back to IE and Chrome/SRWare Iron.
Example:
Google keywords: rental cars
Clicked on Ad: _Avis_Rent_a_Car_, link is Avis.com
Clicked on top search result: Hertz_Rent-a-Car_-_Rental_Car_Discounts,_Coupons,_and_Great_Rates (magnifying glass), www.hertz.com

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

  • When trying to forward a web page my pc opens Internet Explore and wants me to use Windows Live email.

When I go to a link I have received in my gmail using Firefox and then select the option to Send Link, Internet Explore opens and wants me to sign in to Windows Hot Mail to send the link. How can I set it to use Gmail which is what is use for regular email?

I'm not clear on where you are seeing that text. When I view Google's cached page from the page found in this search
    https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Asitetrail.com%2Faskearth.com
It doesn't match yours exactly. There is an iframe with a Google map in it in the "Hosting Analysis" section, which in your pasted page seems to be the "Site Server" section.
Which Google site did you search?

  • Updated Firefox, now when I open a new tab, there is two seperate google search bars; how do I get rid of the unnecessary search bar?

I updated Firefox, and after I restarted it, when I opened a new tab, I found that I now had two Google search bars: one next to where you type web addresses, and one right above my pinned sites (or my frequently visited sites). I'm just trying to:
    1. Figure out why it is necessary to have two of the pretty much identically useful search bars when I really only need one (or can physically type Google in)
    and
    2. How do I get rid of the unnecessary second Google search bar above my frequently visited and therefore pinned sites.
If you have any ideas of how to remove this annoying addition, I would appreciate it.

I am guessing that you installed an extension, related to "new tab", which added the first search bar. Firefox 31 in includes a search bar for the "new tab" page; so now you have two.
Take a look at that extension (Options or Preferences) to see how to disable ones of those 2 search bars. Or see if an update has been released for that extension, specifically for Firefox 31, with an option to disable the search bar.

  • Made Link with iTunes Link Maker. Want link to appear in Google search results. What next?

    Hey all,
Just a quick question following some exposition.
I have a book sitting in the iTunes store, and just came across the Link Maker feature to, well, make a link for it. I made a link, which I'd like to have appear in Google search results. In order for that to happen, do I...
...just wait for Google to crawl itunes.apple.com, and hope that it shows up?
...manually submit the link to Google through Google's apparatuses?
or does Apple have a mechanism for making it appear in Google search results without any further effort from me? I realize rankings and SEO are entirely different questions, but wondered how the submission process plays out.
Mods, if this question isn't in the right place, feel free to move it.
    My thanks in advance!

or does Apple have a mechanism for making it appear in Google search results without any further effort from me?
I never heard of such a thing, and given that Apple thinks and functions largely as a closed ecosystem, it seems rather unlikely.
If you have a way to submit directly to Google, go for it.
As an experiment, I suggest you try a few books that have similar audiences as yours, and search for them on Google, Bing, etc, and see where the results take you.

  • Stop Firefox from reverting back to Google Search Results when opening a page from results list

When I click on one of the results from a Google search, I have it open the page in a new window. The page opens in the new window just fine, but instead of letting me view the page in the new window, Firefox takes me back to the Google Search results page. I am able to click on the new window and view the page that I chose, but it gets old being sent back to the search results each time I click on one of them and attempt to view it.
This happens on my work PC, home laptop, and my desktop at home as well. I have different versions running on each machine, and home laptop has the latest version of Firefox. I have searched the web and cannot find anyone having this same problem, much less a resolution, so I will ask here.
I hope this makes sense, if more info is needed please let me know.
Thanks to anyone that can help.

One reason for this can be if the new window contains Flash media, but Flash hasn't been used for several minutes, the Adobe protected mode feature changes the order of the windows. This is a bug that Adobe has yet to fix. This thread describes the problem in more details and lists the known workarounds: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/955659 Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash].
If you rule out the Flash issue, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • After installing Firefox 5, Hyperlinks on some web pages wont click open. Help?

After installing Firefox 5, Hyperlinks on some web pages wont click open. Usually non-text confirm type links. Like to enter an account.
One Example below. I can't click open the 'My Account' button at the top: http://www.boostmobile.com/
I also miss the Google toolbar. I used it frequently.
I am ready to revert to an older version of Firefox.

I did't have a problem clicking on the link. It is JavaScript perhaps you have JavaScript turned off Tools > Options > Content or perhaps NoScript extension.

  • I keep getting "Reminders" that some web page cannot be opened, even when I'm not online or on the Internet, and I'd like to stop it.

For days now, a "Reminder" box pops up on my screen every few minutes. It's followed by whatever the date is. It always says that a Web page cannot be opened and to try various things, even though I'm not online or trying to open any page. I can get rid of it by opening the task manager (control, alt, delete), but it comes back in a few minutes. I tried "System Restore" but that's not working, for an unrelated reason. I'd like to stop this annoying reminder. Thanks.

Might be spyware or adware. You could try scanning for that and remove spyware if you find any.

  • Web pages do not open in history/bookmarks

Web pages do not open in history/bookmarks,  I only see the Safari symbol.  Logging out of my imac account and logging back in sorts it out for a short time, but the problem comes back with only a blank page and the symbol showing only.
I use to be able to view all the web pages I visted except those with a lggin or through serches with google.
    Any explaination would be welcome.
    thanks
    angus

Like when opening top sites and viewing open web pages....On clicking the bookmarks symbol in the tool bar (next to the top sites box  ) I used to be able to view the web pages fully open showing the content in the history browsing like they do in top sites.
If I log out and log back in to my account it sorts it out for a bit....

  • After exiting proxifier software while web pages are still open in firefox, I could not open any web pages unless firefox is restarted. Plz help me.

I have a problem with Firefox when using Proxifier software. When proxifier is runing and I'm browsing web pages with firefox all things is OK. But after exiting proxifier while web pages are still open in firefox, I encounter a problem. In spite of the internet is still connected but my firefox could not open any web pages unless firefox is restarted.
You are kindly requested help me how to solve this problem not to restart firefox.

    Hi,
[http://proxifier.com/ Proxifier] seems to be a transparent proxy. So you could try setting '''No proxy''' in Firefox '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/advanced-settings-browsing-network-updates-encryption Advanced] > '''Network''' > '''Settings'''.
PS: A quick way to restart Firefox is to press [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/GCLI '''Shift''' + '''F2'''], type '''restart''', and hit '''Enter'''.

Firefox is adding advertising links to certain words on my website cornish-surfing.co.uk, and when I open a new tab an additional window opens with unwanted sites.
    1. How can I stop these things from happening?
    2. Why is it happening?
These things only happen when I’m using the Firefox browser. I use Sophos antivirus and firewall and the scans indicate my system is clean. So I’m assuming that it’s built into Firefox or there’s a security flaw with Firefox.
Can you let me know which and how I can stop it from happening?
    Graham Jappé

hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware on your pc (certainly nothing that is shipping with a plain official firefox build).
please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

  • Open link in new tab, read new tab, go back to original tab

I like to browse on a page and view a link from that page in a new tab.
I remember doing this and the original page would be at the same place when I returned to it.
But now the original page always goes back to the beginning. This can happen even when I return to the original page almost immediately.
I am now using an iPad air with iOS 7 and had been using an iPad 2 with iOS 6. Is this happening because of that? Has safari changed its behavior?
How can I get the previous behavior? Is there a setting I have missed?

I cannot slide pages on an iPad. I can slide pages on a Mac.
The problem exists on the iPad. Try the site macsurfer.com. It is very long vertically.
Open a link in a new tab. Try it from somewhere way down. Go back to the original tab. Is it still open at the place where you left it, or is it now back to the top of the page? My results are a few times yes, many times no. It used to work much better.
To open a link in a new tab, press on the link slightly until you get a pop up menu with that choice.

  • Firefox upon opening an image in a new tab, centers the image from top and bottom and surrounds the image with a grey frame. Just started having the problem today, searched Google to no avail.

Firefox upon opening an image in a new tab, centers the image from top and bottom and surrounds the image with a grey frame. Just started having the problem today, searched Google to no avail.

Oh wow, looks like a new feature.
The "page" links in a stylesheet with the address "resource://gre/res/TopLevelImageDocument.css". If you remove that reference, then the image displays in the old style.
'''''Edit: Please skip the rest of this post and check out the next one.'''''
There might be a more elegant solution than that, but you could use a bookmarklet to strip out that link when you want to view the page in its old style. A bookmarklet is a snippet of JavaScript you save on the Bookmarks toolbar for quick access.
First, copy the following code to the clipboard (it's all one long line):
    <br>javascript:var ssheet=document.querySelector('link[href="resource://gre/res/TopLevelImageDocument.css"]'); if(ssheet)ssheet.parentNode.removeChild(ssheet); void 0;
Next, if you are not displaying the Bookmarks Toolbar, use View > Toolbars > Bookmarks Toolbar to display it. (If you aren't using the classic Menu bar, press Alt+v to call up the old View menu. Right-clicking the gray area just below the page address also allows you to display the Bookmarks Toolbar.)
Right-click on the Bookmarks Toolbar (or Mac equivalent of right-click!) and choose New Bookmark.
Paste the code into the Location box (the second box).
Then type a useful name in the Name box (e.g., Oldstyle Picture) and click Add.
Now, when you want to tweak the image display, click the button to run the script.
Manual clicking is a hassle, so it might make sense to look into other solutions. (Greasemonkey didn't seem to work; I think it might not run on .jpg files.)
