Web page display issues on iPad 1?

I've noticed a fairly significant problem on certain websites that feature floating info or navigation bars at the bottom of the page. Using various browsers on a PC, the info bar scrolls along with the page to always remain at the bottom of the window. On the iPad, the bar remains fixed when the page is scrolled, often times blocking info and links on the page.
I first noticed it on the YouTube site, but I've most recently had the same issue on the Kelley Blue Book site (http://www.kbb.com). There is a bar that appears at the bottom of the page to keep track of recent searches and stuff. In the case of the KBB site, I am aware that the bar can be minimized to get it motly out of the way, but tht isn't always an option. Is there a way to get the iPad to display this sort of page element properly?

This was driving me crazy as well on my brand-new days-old iPad, particularly since it seemed to only happen to mages on our portfolio site! And I, like you, tested several other iPads at the Apple Stores and Best Buys with different results.
In my case, resetting Safari's cache through Settings helped some images but then others would display oddly. Only after contacting AppleCare and being instructed to reset the Network settings (and then clearing Safari's cache again) has the problem finally gone away, and (knock wood) hasn't reared its ugly head again.
Hope that helps!

  • How to publish a web page displaying a JFX app ?

    Hello (again '-_-) !
I'd like to create a web page displaying a JavaFX application.
When I launch the html file generated by NetBeans in the dist folder, It works perfectly, but when I put the same files (.html and .jar) on a webserver, the app never starts... I only get the Java image-loading spinner.

  • SunRay issue with Beehive Online web page display

I've noticed that when accessing the [Beehive Online web pages| https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/index.html] from a SunRay often results in loss of some of the page formatting and/or a problem loading page error:
    "The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
    <Try Again>
Clicking the 'Try Again' button usually never works - a shift/reload of the page and/or clearing the cache is usually what it takes to get the page to display again. The loss of background formatting happens more often, and again only is fixed by shift/reloading the page.
In doing a test before posting this thread, after receiving the 'problem loading page error', I did a shift/reload to display the page. But then every link I clicked on from the https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/index.html navigation resulted in the same error, forcing me to do the shift/reload on every page! I could only get this behavior to quite by going into preferences and clearing my cache. Then I started seeing the loss of the background formatting!
This problem appears to be only from a SunRay (using FF 6.0.2, but this also occurred using FF 3.6). I pulled up FF 3.6.18 as well as IE 9 on my Oracle laptop (Windows XP), and clicked through the various Beehive Online pages multiple times, and did not experience any format loss or page load problem.
Is there a fix for these issues on SunRay?
    Thanks,
    Marjie

Still seeing this issue on SunRay. I posted a couple of screenshots in my public documents folder on our team BOL workspace - hopefully you can view them for an examples of what I'm talking about:

  • Iphone 6 won't load certain web pages displays hyperlink 'GO' and nothing else

II've just upgraded to an iPhone 6 although I had the same issue with my iPhone 5 just before I changed phones.
WHen I am connected to wifi, my phone will not open certain weblinks within Facebook app and displays a blank white screen with the word 'go' and nothing else. When I click 'go' nothing happens.
Also within my Guardian app, the banner adverts display the same (blank with the word GO)
I'm not very technical but it seems to have a problem with shortened weblinks.
ALso the phone is slow to load web pages when I'm on wifi and I often have to reload and reload to get anywhere in Safari.
I don't seem to have the same problem when I'm using 3G.
Thanks for any advice in advance.

My wifi is through Sky but it can't be that as it doesn't happen on my iPad or on my husband's iPhone.
When I look it is redirecting to the page anrdoezr.net rather than the page I want.

  • Web pages load SLOW on IPad: how to disable DNS prefetching; other ideas?

Brand new IPad 16 GB WiFi + brand new Airport Extreme in bridge mode. Comparing IPad web page load speeds with side-by-side WinXP computer running IE8. Any web site will do: take www.apple.com if you want.
Problem: IPad web pages generally load much too slowly compared to IE8 on a computer 6 inches away on the same Airport Extreme network. Maybe twice as slow at worst, occasionally not much slower, but generally pathetic and annoying. WiFi signal strength is "excellent". Airport Extreme network is working great with all my (Windows) computers and devices except the IPad.
I already switched to OpenDNS on my Airport Extreme; didn't help noticeably. I would like to try disabling DNS prefetching in Safari, but don't know how to do it on the IPad. Question #1: How do I disable DNS prefetching? Question #2: Any other suggestions for this embarrassing (to Apple) problem?

I'm experiencing a similar problem with a new iPad 2 using iOS 4.3.3 connected to the Internet via Time Machine to a DSL line.  The Speedtest X HD App shows the connection speed to be fine (about .6 Mb / s).  The problem is only with accessing web pages.  I frequently get a "server not responding" msg.  There is no problem when I connect the device via USB to an iMac, only through wifi.  The iMac itself (Intel with OSX 10.6.7) periodically experiences problems (both Firefox and Safari):  I have learned to solve it by cleaning out cache and fixing disk permissions periodically.  I've tried cleaning out cache on the iPad, deleting cookies and erasing web history, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.  The problem reminds me of an old VNC problem:  you had to allocate a large amount of cache or streaming would stall.  This is also happening with the iPad 2.  Maybe the problem is a DNS channel issue but my impression is that it is somehow related to a memory or cache issue with the iOS device or to Airport.  I've occassionally experienced similar slow page loading problems with other Airport connected devices--it varies from device to device.  It seems to be a client-side software or caching problem.

  • PDF hyperlink to web page displays web page behind PDF

We have a development which generates a PDF including hyperlinks to web pages. We issue the PDF out as an attachment and users then read the PDF an click on the link.
The problem we are experiencing is that some users have the web page fire up behind the PDF. So if they have Acrobat Reader in maximised mode and then click on the link the resulting web page doesn't get focus and so they don't see it (very frustrating). This behaviour only occurs on some PC clients but we can't nail what makes it display the page (or not).
We are using a standard desktop of min config Windows 2000 upwards, IE6 up, Acrobat Reader 7.0 up (but we also get the same thing happen on 7.1.0 on some desktops).
Can anyone point us to the component controlling this.
    Regards, Mark

The code to do it is:
    app.launchURL("http://www.google.com", true);
But keep in mind it's not going to work if the PDF file is opened in non-Adobe PDF viewers.

  • Web pages displayed like documents

All web pages in Safari look like the above.  I see images, text, etc.  Just not correctly.  Pages are displayed very quickly, I'm using various public DNS, and I'm on a high speed connection.
I have deleted every plug in in the Library, deleted all extensions, reset cache, reset safari, downloaded safari again and reinstalled, but nothing has made a change.
    Ideas?

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
     ▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
    Caches/Metadata/Safari
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have problems, continue.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Quit Safari again. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A folder should open. If there's a subfolder with the name "com.apple.Safari", delete it, even if it's empty. Quit Terminal. Close the folder. Launch Safari and test.
    Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work right, quit, go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (some may not exist):
    Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
    Internet Plug-Ins
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
    PubSub/Database
    Safari
(Note: you are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”)
Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
    File ▹ Import Bookmarks
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

  • Web pages displaying incorrectly e.g. no Wonga slidebar though sliders still visible and workable

I've had this problem for the last few weeks - i.e. on Firefox 8 and 9 which I changed to today in the hope it might fix it. It didn't. No pages display as they should. E.G. on the top of this page where you see 'user name', 'sign out', 'inbox', 'other applications', these are surrounded on three sides by thin lines only. The background is white. Sign in boxes on various sites consist of two slightly misaligned text box frames that make reading the word difficult. They still work though! Sorry if I'm not describing this very well. Hopefully you get the gist. I've tried emptying the cache in options and made sure my add ons etc are up-to-date as per the advice for incorrectly displaying web pages. Any help much appreciated. (its probably something silly I've done but I just can't fix it.) BTW pages display properly for the other user on this laptop (i.e. on their side!)

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

You may need to set the viewport in a meta tag.
    http://developer.palm.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1574&Itemid=26
The webOS browser supports the viewport meta-tag, which allows sites to control the rendering width, initial zoom factor, maximum/minimum zoom factors, and whether zooming is allowed.

  • Bookmarks and web page display question

I have been used to using Netscape and Internet Explorer where you can have a vertical column of bookmarks running up and down on the left side...and then the window to the right will display the web page...i.e., you don't have to click on a separate bookmarks page, open your link, and then toggle back to the Bookmarks page.
I like the idea of having ALL of my many bookmarks available to me on the lefthand side while seeing the pages open in the window to the right.
Is there any way Safari can provide close to that same layout? I know about how to use tabs and I know of the bookmark horizontal bar, but I do miss the vertical on the left bookmarks column showing everything (several hundred) and just clicking and having the web page pop open on the right while keeping all my bookmarks available on the same screen.
Can Safari do this? Or what might be the closest workaround?
    Thanks,
    John

Sorry for the confusion, here's a more detailed description of what I'm aiming for.  Also, I don't have any web pages published or a web host yet so I can't post a URL to my page.
This Adobe forums page acts just like my web page.  On the right side of this Adobe page, there is a gray and white checkered design.  If the bookmarks (or favorites) are closed (I am using Firefox with a bookmark toolbar on the left side), then the checkered design is pretty wide.  If the bookmark toolbar is opened, then part of the checkered pattern is cut off from view, but the left side of the page is still completely in view.
Coca Cola's website is more of how I want my website to be:   http://www.coca-cola.com/index.jsp
On both sides of Coca Cola's website, there is a gray-white gradient.  If the bookmarks are closed, then the gradient pattern on both sides are exactly equal in width.  If the bookmarks are opened, then part of the outside portion the the page is cut off on both the left and right sides quite a bit, but the gradient design widths on the left and right are both still equal in width.
So if the opened bookmarks are going to cut off part of the web page from view, I would prefer to have both parts of the left and right side removed instead of just the right side.  I tried centering the page by following David Powers' thread, but either I didn't do it correctly or it didn't help with this problem.
    I hope this was clearer.

  • YouTube web page displays left justified in a fixed font and will not play videos.

Firefox 3.6.13/Vista. It worked yesterday. System restore did not help. The page displays properly in I/E and also in Firefox on my XP based computer. I checked for plug-in updates and also tried to disable them to no avail.

There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. Could you see whether anything in this article helps: [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]].

  • Have each web page display at full page width automatically

How can I set Firefox to automatically display each web page that I open at full page width. Microsoft IE9 does this for me and it is very helpful.
I have to adjust each web page to full width every time, since Firefox does NOT remember the full page display even if I come back to a previous web page which I already adjusted before.

    Great news, thanks!
Don't know what a mac newbie like me would do without this forum. Thanks a million.
Great to hear, there are plenty of great helpers here, so feel fee to post a new topic whenever you wish.
By the way, is this technique covered anywhere in Mac help?
Yep, click on the Finder in the Dock, click Help up in the Menubar>Mac help, type windows into the search at top right, hit ENTER, should get a list, 4th down here.
Seems Windows7 is a big improvement over Vista, but still not as good as XP, certainly more of a pain than XP.

  • Oracle Web Page display in OmniPortlet after deploying

    hi, all
I meet with a issue with webcenter application deployment.
I regester ServerA' Omniport to my application and then deploy it to serverA's webcenter instances. While when I open the page, the following page displays in Omniportlet portlet and also "custimize" button redirects page to it:
    http://www.oracle.com/index.html?_adfp_page_def_name=%252Fa.jspx&_adfp_portlet_binding_id=OmniPortlet1_1&_adfp_full_Page_Mode=true&_adfp_back_url=http%253A//oow3.oracle.com%253A7777/oow/faces/a.jspx&_adfp_requested_newmode=5
I checked the html source code and found that it's due to the URL error. I tried to deploy the same application to another WC server and it works well.
The Omniportlet's html source code with displaying issue:
    <iframe frameborder="0" src="http://oow/adfportlet?_adfp_page_def_name=%2Forder.jspx&_adfp_portlet_binding_id=OmniPortlet1_1&_adfp_portlet_component_id=formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1&_adfp_faces_form_id=form" style="position: relative;" allowtransparency="true" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" name="formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1_iframe" id="formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1_iframe" onload="try{SubstituteFormSubmit(event, this);} catch(e) {}; try{_resizePortletIframe('formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1_iframe');} catch(e) {}; return true;"/>
The correct one on another WC server:
    <iframe frameborder="0" src="http://b.cn.oracle.com:7777/oow/adfportlet?_adfp_page_def_name=%2Forder.jspx&_adfp_portlet_binding_id=OmniPortlet1_1&_adfp_portlet_component_id=formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1&_adfp_faces_form_id=form" style="position: relative; width: 300px;" allowtransparency="true" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" name="formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1_iframe" id="formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1_iframe" onload="try{SubstituteFormSubmit(event, this);} catch(e) {}; try{_resizePortletIframe('formPC_NAM_SEPportlet1_iframe');} catch(e) {}; return true;"/>
Why the first WC application cannot get the correct URL of itselfe? I tried other portlets and there was the same error on that WC server.
I'm so confused. Any one has any idea? Thanks.
    Rongrong

    I missed one point:
The first WC Application with issue is deployed to:
    http://oow3.oracle.com/oow/faces/order.jspx
The right one is deployed to
    http://b.cn.oracle.com/oow/faces/order.jspx

  • Bad Web page display

Can anyone assist here?  I have a problem with web pages not displaying correctly, images overlap and sometimes where necessary because of the overlap, I cannot select items displayed this way.
I've tried enlarging and shrinking the diplay but the overlap occurs either way.
For anyone in the UK, I have a problem with the 'Mail' Saturday and Sunday reader tokens, I get overlap on the voucher selection window and cant select my voucher;  I've e-mailed the MoS (Mail on Saturday/Sunday) but with no response.
Apart from my problem with wireless dropout, (now apparently cured!) this is my only other current concern, having moved back to Apple after many (corporate years) with a PC. (Now retired!)
Cheers in advance to anyone who can help.
    Rgds
    Barry

    Barry --
I think you have a font problem.  Have you opened your Font Book application in your Applications folder yet?  If not, do so, and look for any "duplicate font" warnings.  Also font conflicts.  If you find any, just click as directed to resolve them.  Then, be sure to restart Safari and try it again.
    Any Better?
If not, you may need to clear your font caches.  You can do that with Onyx, which I've never used, but others like it here . . . or download Yasu, which I have used for years.

    Clear system/local/user font caches.

  • APEX Web page display suddenly broken -- Cannot display page.

I came in this AM and a file system had filled up. After fixing it I tried to bring up the main APEX web page to log into the application as the Admin development user for my application workspace.
I received an error - Unable to display web page from the client.
I checked the network, database and everything else and it all looks good.
Did something get locked up that I may not be aware of that needs to be reset ?
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Anon,
    Maybe a session is hanging?
A quick fix would probably be to restart your database and webserver (if you use that).
