Web page locks up, freezes, & hangs

My computer is  HP Pavilion 23 TouchSmart
I have 8.1
I am using Internet Explorer ( latest version ).
The SOLUTION I have been using to solve the freeze, I SIGN OUT.
I know there must be a better way to solve this freeze problem.
My computer is less than a year old, I would think it isn't the computer.
I have Norton Anti Virus software.
I keep up to date on all Microsoft updates.
I have moved on to CHROME, but would rather use Internet Explorer to use the WEB.
Prior to this computer purchase I had several HP Laptops and never experienced this problem.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Larry

  • Web pages keep repeatedly freezing when I enter my name

I am now on my second iPhone 6 running IOS 8.2 and am experiencing the same issue-namely that on web pages when I try and type in my name (Zoe), the web page (and Safari) freeze as soon as I type the second letter. I updated to IOS 8.2 on my iPad mini today and had the same thing happen. Help!

  • How do I uninstall Mavericks and recover Lion?  I have a brand new iMac and web pages stall or freeze since I installed Mavericks.  I can't get it to download software for my printer when I connect it.

I have a brand new iMac.  It was working fine until I downloaded Mavericks.  Now I have web pages that freeze while trying to load.  The blue in the address bar stalls and freezes.  If I try to load from page 1 to a later page, or reverse that, I also have the same problem.  I tried to connect my printer for the first time, and again, the blue progress bar froze.  Then I got the yellow  triangle telling me there was a connection problem.  My internet connection is via an Air Card as that is my only option where I live.  I packed up the whole new iMac and took it to my Air Card provider, where they also have very fast Wifi, and they had the same problem with Wifi.  I use my Air Card with my MacBook and it works JUST GREAT!  I really want to return to Lion.  HELP.

The only way to retutn to Lion is to format your drive (erase, lose all) and either:
    1. clone back the clone copy i hoep you have, or
    2. first backup your files, then format and install Lion again
But really, mavericks works great. You have a problem. Find out why. First, what unusual software do oyu have installed that may be conflicting with it? Virus, system modifiers, etc?  Second what OLD software do you have that might be the problem.  finally, you might need to do a re-install if something errored during install.

  • Web page locks up when running Java

I downloaded the java program that Ameritrade told me to download to run their Streamer product, but when I try to run the product, it locks up the web page.

Poor baby, so go whine to Ameritrade!

  • Why is the Flash Installation Web Page Causing IE8 to Hang?

I have a brand new, fresh installation of WinXP SP3 here.  Just the OS with the updates and required hardware drivers, IE8, Firefox, Java, AVG Free 8.5 and Comodo with just the firewall enabled.  That's it so far.
So now when I go to the "Get Flash Player" page at Adobe it consistently hangs when the gold bar appears to run Adobe DLM.  After a few seconds a dialog box appears saying Dr Watson has crashed.  At that point the browser is totally hung.  Happens every time.  I tried doing a full reset of IE8 from its Options-Advanced menu, and also tried accessing the Flash install page after exiting both AVG and Comodo to make sure they weren't causing it, but still no go.
I know I could just download the standalone ActiveX installer and probably get Flash up and running, but since I'm trying to build this machine from scratch to be as bug-free as possible I'd like to get to the bottom of this now so it doesn't continue to be an issue down the road.  Any ideas?

This problem is becoming more prevelant.
It can be reliably produced by
Install WindowsXP service pack 2 - which includes IE6.
Download, either manually, or by Windows Update, IE8.
    Go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    Click on download.
The next screen tells you about the warning gold bar which is about to appear.
Either immediately after the bar appears, or immediately before it appears, IE locks up.
Task manager is required to get rid of IE8.
It also occurs, less predictably, with computers which have been upgraded IE6 - IE7 - IE8.
In each case, uninstalling IE8 and reverting to IE6 or 7 allows flash and reader to be installed (both use Adobe DLM, which is the cause of the problem). Shockwave isn't affected, as it uses a different download mechanism.
It is time this was fixed!

  • Does this web page lock up your iPad?

when I browse to this page, the whole device locks up:
    http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/1725/measuring-pasta-serving-s izes
HOme button does nothing, power button blacks out the screen but doesn't lock, Assistive Touch does nothing. The only way out is to hold Home and Power till it restarts.
if anyone's game to try it, I'd be interested to know if it's just me. iOS 8.1 on ipad 4.

I am always game. No problem here other than the page is a little jerky when swiping up or down. It certainly didn't lock up my iPad.
Clear Safari, force close it, then reset the iPad again, with the home and sleep buttons.
Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data. Close Safari now.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Mailing a link to a web page from safari freezes safari?

    iPad recently upgraded to iOS6,
When attempting to email a link to a page, the email UI appears, I can enter an email address, but the send and cancel buttons are not responsive.
I can exit Safari but I have to go to settings and clear cookies and data.
    Is this a known issue?

Make sure that you have set a default mail program properly.
    See:

  • On most of the web pages I open, Firefox hangs and gives me this error:Unresponsive script. I can open the same page w/Google Chrome, and don't get that error.

I've performed all the fixes multiple times, and I keep getting this error. I don't get the error on the same page with either IE or Chrome. Sorry to say, Chrome is now my default browser...

Does it mention the name of the script or its chrome protocol URI?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

  • Does Firefox plan any fix to the 3.6 update that hangs all use of any web page in English

After updating to 3.6 from 3.5 web page loads and downloads hang. using xp laptop core 2 duo 2.66 - 3 gigs ram. uninstalled 3.6 and reinstalled 3.5 and all is well. Do not plan to do a bunch of hunt and change to make it work. That is why I changed from IE to firefox in the first place. Is there a 3.6 update fix on the way?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.<br />
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Can not open official Apple web pages?

Very strange.... can not open Apple web pages... just hangs on loading!
    http://www.apple.com/au/retail/sydney/
    http://www.apple.com/au/
    etc etc..
    tried reset safari.
    any thoughts?

I have the same problem! I have my iMac and my PC connected via same router and same adsl modem. On the PC I can browse www.apple.com (actually, it takes half a minute to load the page, but it works); the iMac (both Safari and Firefox) is unable to load any page in the Apple official site.
On the iMac I'm able to load the Apple home page only if I digit directly the IP Address of www.apple.com site. Very strange. I'd appreciate any suggestion, thanks in advance.

  • Recover web page

when I am on a web page my laptop freezes up and recover web page comes up. Why? What do I need to do?

    Gordy, welcome to the forum.
When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.  Also, which browser are you using?  Before answering my questions, you might want to try another browser to see if that makes a difference.  Sometimes a browser will get a glitch that causes problems like you are experiencing.
It could be that the laptop is overheating.  Check the vents to assure that they are clean.

  • Firefox freezes when loading some web pages then the computer locks up

Sometimes, when loading a website, the browser freezes. Then the computer locks up and I have to use the power button to turn it off. There seems to be no pattern to this problem. I'm also not sure whether or not the problem begins within Firefox, but a web page was loading every time it happened. It has only started happening this week.

I seem to be having a very similar, if not exactly the same issue. I'm using the latest production FF 11.0 release on Win7 64 and as with this not only does FF freeze, but I can't task switch, or anything. The one thing I've noticed is that when the lockup happens, it always appears to be loading some custom font from a CDN, if I breathe deeply and slowly and allow the request to complete everything seems to eventually unfreeze and I can continue, so maybe something to do with implementation of custom font loading?
