Web Page Print Problems

Building a website with one of the iWeb templates and when I view the page in a browser it looks great but when I go to print it, its not printing all the text. I have one page that is all text and when I go to print, it prints 4 pages...1st page has text, 2nd and 3rd have nothing and 4th has a little text. I thought maybe it was the background print option, but that didn't fix it. I also have nifty little paper text boxes in the "layered paper" theme that will not print. Is this the nature of using the iWeb layouts or have I done something wrong?
Thanks for any input toward a solution

printing iweb pages is a real mess! there are three main factors that cause this mess:
- the colors/shapes
- shapes with text and text-boxes that converted to an image
- the structure itself
with usual pages that you make in rapidweaver or yourself, you know what you want to print and what not. with iweb you can draw text-boxes just everywhere and iweb has no clue what to print and what not. it usually prints all the stuff that is contained in the default text-boxes. new ones might be included, or might not be!
so, is there a solution? no! the only sub-solution would be to copy the contents of the pages that should be printed and then place a "print" link on your page that has exactly that stuff that you want printed!

  • Web page print do not take language other than english. earlier it was working.

I use Firefox 16.0.2 in mylaptop having windows 7 starter. the web pages in languages ther than english is readable. But when i take web page print junk language is coming up. I use cutepdf as my printer. earlier I was comfortably having the print .

    Hi,
If cutepdf has an option to embed fonts, you can try enabling it. Usually you may find the options in Firefox '''File''' ('''Alt''' + '''F''') > '''Print''' > '''Properties''' (for cutepdf) but in some cases you may also have to check the documentation/help for the relevant printer. If it was working earlier, you can also try to [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-printing-problems-firefox reset the print options].

I'm having trouble finding a product for the HP 4550 all-in-one.  I can find an HP 4550 laserjet and an HP Photosmart c4500 series printers.  Can you provide more detail about the product?
Looking at your post and the fact that the shadow appeared after you replaced the black cartridge, I wonder if this is caused because your cartridges aren't aligned.  If your product has a LCD screen, look for an option to align your cartridges - likely under 'tools' or something like that in the menu.  Try aligning the cartridges and see if that helps.
If you can provide some more details about your product, I could point you to more detailed alignment steps.

Using Windows XP and Firefox 3.6.15 web pages print with some of the script as unintelligible weird looking script or maybe some kind of computer script. This problem also occurs with the web page on which this question is submitted. This doe not occur using IE 8.0 with the same printer.

These have nothing to do with Firefox.

This one - C:\Users\Vinegarhill-User Acc\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ak4dv58c.default\extensions\ \components\afom.exe - is probably the '''AFOM - Memory Recovery & Retention For Firefox Only''' extension.

My advice is to uninstall that extension. IMO, you have too many extensions installed, and are asking for problems with Firefox. I am not against using a lot of extensions in Firefox ''(I typically have 45 to 50 extensions installed, but the mix of extensions you have scares me as potentially problematic.)''

  • Just downloaded Firefox 4, cannot print web pages, print is all skewed, looks like secret coding.

Tried to print a web page friendly receipt and then tried printing a web page, print is skewed, looks like some sort of encryption.

Installing nightly builds is not recommended for most people. If you install a nightly build you will get updates every day. Though the current nightly builds are stable, it is not unusual for them to be very unstable and at time unusable.

  • Adobe printing web pages - prints symbols not text

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Version 9.5.0 on a PC running Windows 7 with IE 9 V9.0.8112.16421.
When I print from certain web pages, for example flight documents using the printer icon and printing to the Adobe PDF printer the resulting pdf file has symbols rather than text. For example, "Erhlqj#" rather than "Boeing". The 'fixed' graphics text prints ok and if I cut and paste the symbol text into another document, such as an e-mail, it prints correctly i.e. "Boeing" rather than "Erhlqj# "!
If I use the toolbar Convert button to product the pdf it is correct. I've tried 'Repair Acrobat Installation" but it made no difference.
Anyone any idea where the problem resides? It was working ok until a few months ago.
See example below: top line is how it views in the pdf, second line is how it views on the website.
    Cheers

  • D 110 PRINTER WEB PAGE PRINT INFO

Hello to all and Blessings. My question is -- Before HP's software update a few months ago I think, printing web pages included a header with document ID/name and a footer with the web address and date of printing. does anyone else remember this and is there a way to reactivate those functions? Can we compel HP to write that back into the software? Is there simple workaround to the same result.
Webpage URL and date was so handy for when I looked something up or printed a crtical email adn such. Hope I did this right and that someone can help.
    Thank you all in advance

First of all, update Firefox to 3.6.17 via Help | Check For Updates.
There was a security breach at Comodo which is an SSL certificate provider recently whereby a number of fraudulent certificates were inadvertently issued. These allow a hacker to impersonate any site including online banking and the Firefox version you're running at the moment will not warn you that the site is a fake. The fraudulent certificates were blacklisted in v3.6.17 and beyond.
To uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar, go to Tools | Add-ons | Extensions. You should find it in there.
To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.
    * In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.
    * In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''
    * Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.
    * Go to '''Tools '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.
After you complete the above steps, install this add-on to prevent another search engine from modifying your preferences: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/
Additonal security risks on your system are the version of Flash you have installed at the moment. See http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-12.html

  • Web Page Alignment Problem

    Hi.
I need some help. I created a webpage in CS3 Dreamweaver. The problem is that my pictures and flash content are misaligned when I access my webpage from another computer screen other than the one I used when I designed the web page. Seems like my webpage is not aligned "universally" for all computer screens. How can I fix my alignment to be constant on any screen anywhere in the world?
    Thanks

That's a tall order, given the range of devices people use these days (smartphones, tablets, desktop/laptops, multi-panel displays...).  Decide who your target audience is and build your site accordingly.
For most desktop/laptop users, your page should fit in a 1000px wide viewport without horizontal scrollbars.

  • Web page Print Save as PDF--only first page formatted correctly

    Hello,
Whenever I try to save a web page as a PDF file, the first page formats nicely, but the subsequent pages print with bigger font and the text runs off the right-side edge of the page.  If I print just page 2, then page 2 prints nicely.  I can later use Acrobat Pro to stitch the PDF together page by page, but that is a pain.  I have played around with various page set up settings to no avail.  I'm using Firefox 18.0.1 and Mac OS 10.8.2.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Beth

The PDF add-on that seems to work is PDF Download 3.0.0.1 from Apple's website. It seems to process webpages via a website to PDF. A sample webpage is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clandestine_HUMINT. However, I've run into the same problem on others that seem to create long (many page) PDF files. I also tried it with CUPS-PDF 2.4.6 with the same problem. I believe the CUPS-PDF application uses the same CUPS standard built into OSX?
Anyway, please bear with me. I am not kidding about being fairly new to this whole Mac thing. How do I find the crash log?
Is it this (from the CUPS error log)?

  • Why do web pages print out in some kind of weird language or binary code?

When I look at a web page (ie. on-line order from Staples) it looks normal. When I go to print it, the formatting is bizarre - I cannot even reproduce it for you as it is full of marks and squiggles. Numbers do not come out at all.
I just always used Explorer if their was something I knew I was going to want a printed copy of.
    (50@$0.49) $24.50 printed as E RM ] AMKQV F AOQKRM
    PST/QST printed as mpqLnpq
The word Documents comes out as acAiaEaie with ~`" ^ type marks above the letters.

There's a Bug which causes Firefox to print '''gibberish''' or '''garbeled''' characters for certain fonts, with certain print drivers.

  • Need suggestions on a single page printing problem

I realize this may not be the appropriate place to post this question, but I will take any suggestions (including where else I may find the answer).
    Trying to be brief:
Brand new iMac w/SL 10.6 up to date)
    New HP Photosmart copy/scan/printer (D110 e-Print; wireless)
    Filemaker Pro 6.
I bring up the latter (FMPro) because I have one file, one particular layout that refuses to print.
It SHOULD print all found records
Print preview layout in FMPro SHOWS ALL RECORDS layed out correctly on an 8.5x11" landscape
Telling it to print, gets a -9705 error which leads to one of two things:
If I try to print, it only prints ONE RECORD (the first record)
    or
If I try to open it in Apple's Preview application , or Save to PDF, neither of those apps open or display the page
Really odd. I haven't had any printing problems in other programs (Safari web page, etc.)
I've search Filemaker and Apple and HP sites and can't find the -9705 error any where
It may just be an incompatibility issue with an 8 year old piece of software (which seems to run fine except for the printing)
    Thanks for any suggestions

Thank you for that - D'OH! - moment.
I had been googling for -9705, which I believe was finding everything BUT the term 9705 due to the 'minus' sign in front of it.
Doing it correctly, got me a hit on the FMPro site which had a font suggestion I think may be the answer.
    Thanks!

  • Portions of web pages print incorrectly

Some web pages that include code examples appear fine on the computer, but appear scrambled (like the font is not mapped correctly) when printed. For example: http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Programming/JDCBook/jniexamp.html. I have seen this on both Windows and Linux.
If I use Internet Explorer, they print OK.

You might be seeing this Bug, which is related to font glyphs with certain print drivers being printed as gibberish. There is mention made in various postings in that Bug report as to which print drivers trigger that Bug.<br />
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454532
Sometimes you can get around that Bug by doing a Print Preview ''(see if there are any gibberish fonts appearing)'' and then printing the page from that Preview window.
This comment in that Bug report has a GreaseMonkey script that might fix that problem. <br />

If the webpage has a print icon/link you can try to use that. Also, try right-clicking on the area to be printed and choose '''This Frame''' (if the option is present) > '''Print Frame'''.
