Web page slow on 192.168.x.x network

I don't think this is a Cisco problem. When I try to access our school homepage from a 192.168.x.x network it is very slow to load. When I access the page from a 172.20.X.X network or registered subnet it works fine. It also works from the Internet. I've also tried several differant 192.168.x.x networks with the same slow page loading problem. I even tried a vlan with a 192.169.x.x network the page loaded fine. I even tried a 192.168.x.x network on the same vlan as the server. All other traffic from the 192.168.x.x network is fine. Any ideas why the page loads slow from a 192.168.x.x net??

Hi!
Can u send us ur network diagram? It will helpful to give suggestions...
Im not sure but maybe there is a routing problem... Please check traceroute from 192.168.x.x and from 172.16.x.x

  • Web Pages Slow to Completely Load

For the last couple of days both myself and my wife on her laptop have been experiencing web pages slow to load.
I don't think it is our machines as we are both having the same problem.
Some pages will not load at all (ITV . Debenhams, PC World after downloading homepage) ?
Our D/L speed is not high a pathetic 1.6Mb/sec, but until recently pages generally loaded within 5-10 sec.

    Hi
it could be your browser temp files needing a clean out, if you are using Internet Explorer try below
Click on the Tools menu select Internet Options
On the General Tab you have browsing history, click on Delete button
Put a tick in the following boxes
    Temporary Internet Files
    Cookies
    Form Data
    InPrivate Filtering Data
Then click on the Delete button, a small progress window will open, wait till this is finished, close Internet Options window, close browser and try again
While I understand you are using two computers, give it a try
    Hope this helps

  • Web pages slow to load with IE11 and the cursor/mouse is very slow to work until after page loads

Web pages are very slow to load, I hve run Norton Eraser and found no issues that would cause this

New HP Pavilion three weeks ago.  After several attempts by the 'experts' I finally got a straight answer from a tech in the Philipines yesterday, 01-29-2015.  HP and Microsoft are working to resolve the issue of slow pages and a dead cursor until the next page finally loads.  You may have discovered that Google Chrome DOES NOT have this issue.  Comments about HP would not be allowed here so I will just say, use Chrome until the issue with IE 11 is resolved.

  • Slow internet. Web pages slow to load.

    Hello,
My mac mini is finding web pages slowly. 5-10 seconds or more to find the pages and then it will load (instantly) most of it and pause a second of or two and load the rest. Downloads are fast. Within 100kbps of advertised speed (1.5 mb dsl). My upload is also fine at about 1.0 mbps. Any ideas? The ISP gave gave me a modem and said plug it in and it worked fine for a week or two. It's been really slow the last two days.

When web pages are slow to start loading, but load pages quickly once they've started, it's usually an issue with the DNS settings. DNS is Domain Name Service, and it's the process whereby the URL you type into your web browser, such as www.yahoo.com is turned into the string of numbers the internet actually uses to locate a web page. Thus when you click on a link or type an address, before your browser can start loading the page it has to send the address to the ISP's DNS servers, which then look up the address and return the correct IP number.
This process usually happens pretty quickly, but not always.
Check that the DNS server addresses you were given by the ISP are entered correctly into the DNS Servers box of the network preference pane. If none are listed, check the ISP's settings (often found on-line in their help and support pages, or in the documentation they supplied) and enter them manually. There will typically be 2 or 3 of them, given in the form of an IP address.

  • How do I send email and web pages to a shared printer on home network. I verified that I can send documents to the shared printer.

My home network (one wireless computer using Windows 7--the other using Windows XP) share a printer, but I can't send web pages or email to the shared printer. I can send documents to the printer, so I know that connection is set up properly. Could Firefox be blocking this function? If so, how do I configure it. Both computers use Firefox exclusively.
== I never could share the printer when on websites.

Locking this thread, so any replies go to https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/672706 :-)

  • I cannot printany web pages or emails over a wireless home network. My OS is windows 7 and am using an Epson printer. I know I have the home network set up correctly as i can print files over the network.

I cannot print any email or web pages over a wireless home network. I know that I can print my files over this network, just not anything from the web or emails using Firefox. I am using Windows 7 and printing to an Epson.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== when I set up the wireless home network.

The most likely reason for this is that the wrong printer is chosen in the File->Print window.
In Firefox, go to File->Print and click the dropdown box with printer names. Ensure that the correct network printer is selected, then try printing again.

  • Web Pages Slow to Load

For the past couple of days our Internet service to the browser has been extremely slow although, when I run a speed test, our speeds are near normal. When going to a web site, it takes an extremely long time for the web site to appear, several minutes in some cases.
If I unload IPFLT at the server and put the browser on a direct connect, things are normal. Otherwise, when pointed to the BM proxy is when this happens.
Thanks for any ideas and/or suggestions on where the problem might be.
    Tim

Well, good, then I am maybe doing something correctly, since I rely on Filtcfg also, just tried to set the default filters once or twice with iManager and had to go in through Filtcfg to clear them. Right now I just checked and don't have any filters that could be causing problems, but I'm going to need to start checking the filters on the individual servers and see how they compare with your references. We especially want to force everyone through the proxy(ies) and keep them from "slipping out" another way with access to the various and wonderful "services" there are out there let alone let any of them in. It is sometimes too easy to allow an exception to packet filtering, for example, that allows all but http and https traffic when there are problems, and some of the above listed "services" use a different protocol.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Can you check your filtering against tip #13 at the URL below?
I simply never use iManager to do filters. I use Filtcfg. Using Filtcfg, try to edit one of your
problem exceptions (one that doesn't go away). Then look at the logger screen - do you see a -6001
    error?
If so, the next step, and probably a good step to do now anyway, is to back up all the .cfg files in
SYS:ETC. (Or just back up all the files in there).

  • Safari keeps crashing, me contact mysteriously showed up,web pages slow to load.,what should I do????

What should I do. I ran dslteports speed test. My ping was 519 download spped was .28 Mbps and upload speed was .34 Mbps.
I've done a hard reset and reset my network settings. No help from either. I've also notice my screen tends to flicker and the data wheel at the top of my screen is spinning faster.  This thing is screwed help me!

What kind of a webpage were you attempting to go to that requierd a password? If you do not have a computer to connect the device to, then the only choices you have are the restart and reset. You never said if this slow internet was wi-fi or cellular. There is no way to know if you have corrupt files in the backup unless you do the restores as I explained. You can restore as new without a computer, just go into Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. That will wipe the phone and delete all of your content. Then you can activate the phone, which would be the same as a restore as new. Make sure you have a backup in iCloud, since you do not have a laptop. If you are concerned about a backup, then you might not want to try this restore measure.

    Ok,
I have just convinced my frien to move from AOL to BT and he is starting to see problems.
I asked him to run a speed test and original after he entered his number  if replied it couldn't test at this time.

I got him to run a Quiet Line test and you can hear a few clicks so I'm unsure of the downstream rate is correct.
I suspect its a problem on his PC but any suggestions I would be grateful

hi there is nothing wrong with his downstream
however if the clicks on the line can still be heard when checking at the test socket then that needs to be fixed first by calling BT Faults on 151 but do not mention broadband in the call

  • Safari 5.1 Slow Web Page Delivery

I'm seeking some help with very slow web page delivery on my mid-2010 iMac i3 with 12 GB of memory. Here's the facts:
Using Safai 5.1 with OSX Lion (7.1)
Very slow web page performance whether I use my wireless network or an ethernet cable connection (with wireless disabled). Both are slow.
A Windows computer in the same room, on the same wireless network, delivers pages briskly (with IE or Chrome). The problem does not seem to be related to the ISP (Comcast).
FTP on the Mac is quick, problem seems to be isolated to HTTP.
I upgraded from Snow Leopard a week or so ago but even with Snow Leopard the web page delivery was slow. Lion seems to be even slower.
For example, "Toms Hardware" just took about 2 minutes to fully load.
Very frequently, a web page will stall (blue progress bar doesn't move). Reloading with Command + R often helps but not always.
I tried to Empty Cache without a better result.
At this point, Safari is almost unusable because of the speed issue. Please advise with any suggestions. Thanks.

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
If disk space is not an issue, try Safari in another user account. Pages load slow there, log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. /Applications/Utilities
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

You may need to reset your network settings, making sure the network you're accessing is stable: tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If your iPhone still can't connect to App Store, tap Settings > iTunes & App Store > tap the Apple ID and sign out > later, sign in with your Apple ID.

  • RV215w PPTP with 192.168.1.x subnet

I have been trying to setup a PPTP VPN with the Cisco RV215w router and have discovered that CISCO won't permit a 192.168.1.x network when a PPTP VPN is setup.   I am well aware that I can't have an identical subnet at the other end, and have made  accommodations for that.  The copy machine people have installed some equipment and I don't have access to those machines to change the subnet on them. Hopefully there is a work around for this!

    Hello,
Are you on the latest firmware (1.2.0.15)? If not, you are most likely running into bug (CSCuh20473).
This bug does not allow you to add a zero to the local subnet.
    I hope this helps.

  • WRT54G Extremely slow navigating pages @ 192.168.1.1 - Could this be a network card problem?

Friend of mine is having Internet connection issues on his main PC which is hard wired to the router, He's using Comcast cable (18Mbit) and all of a sudden today the speed dropped to dialup speeds, literally, however its ONLY this main pc with the speed issue, there are 2 other computers connected wireless to the router and they are running full speed when testing on speedtest.net
While troubleshooting the problem I tried bypassing the router and the speed issue still remains, So I can pretty much rule out the router, But as part of my troubleshooting whenever I try to access the router's configuration pages via 192.168.1.1 it is VERY slow at responding.
For example when hitting enter after typing 192.168.1.1 it takes around 45 seconds to display the router configuration page, and at that point clicking on any other tabs takes 30 - 45 seconds as well to respond.
So my main question with this post is, is it possible his network card went bad? What would cause really slow access to the router configuration?
The PC is running Win 7 Ultimate 32bit and Ive tried running the network troubleshooter, uninstalled his network card in device manager / reinstalled the drivers but nothing seems to be working.
I also ran Malware Bytes and scan results were clean.
    Any ideas appreciated!

can you "borrow" a card? its the only way to be sure, eliminating hours of trial and error procedures. one of the mega electronics stores is a good source, if it solves your problem you keep the card, if not there is the return option

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Blank pages on setup pages 192.168.1.1

I'm using a WRT54G ver 7 Router. Last night after i tried upgrading the firmware the basic setup pages shows up blank when ever i try to acess certain tab.Take the wireless tab for example i click on it the page turns up blank but it shows done at the right hand bottem corner of the window. Pls help.

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.  Do this, then try again to view the router's setup pages.  If this does not fix the problem, follow the tips below.
To view the router's web pages:
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Check to see if your "modem-router" is using the same 192.168.1.x address space as your Linksys router. If it is, then report back with this problem, and also state the make and model of your modem-router.
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
