Web page tabs

Hello, my name is Joe. I bought a L555 alittle over a month ago. When it was brand new it would display the web pa gees that I viewed the most. Then I installed Microsoft office enterprise 2007 and MacAfee total protection. Since then, when I click on the new tab, it dose not display any pages anymore. Is there a way to get it back to doing that? By the way, I'm not very computer literate yet.

I have a L455D-S5976. It came with Explorer 8 and Windows 7. This is my husband's computer but I think he has had this problem from the beginning. He cannot open two websites at once. If you click on the icon, the web page just collapses. There's only one tab. Frustrating when you want to toggle between two sites. I have gone to Tools>Options>General>Tabs. I have disabled, restarted computer, enabled, restarted but that didn't help. I've tried checking different settings under the tabs but still nothing. I've tried disabling add-ons and some other stuff that I can't remember right now. Still nothing. I have googled this and can't find any help. I've also checked the Microsoft website support pages. Help!!

App tabs and web page tabs not saved when Apple Mac is powered down

Using Firefox with Apple Mac running OS X v 10.7.1 and Parallels 6, and Windows Vista as a virtual computer. Have Firefox 6.o installed on the Mac and Firefox 6.0 for Windows installed within Microsoft Vista running under Parallels 6 as a virtual machine.
Issue 1) Within Mozilla on the Mac whenever I power down and restart the computer all my app tabs and web page tabs are lost except for my home page, even though I have set up Firefox preference to remember my open web pages/tabs.
Issue 2) Within Firefox running within Vista on the virtual machine my web pages are remembered but I cannot figure out how to create a app tab.

Tabs are only saved if you close (Firefox > Quit) the Firefox application while those tabs are still showing. If you close a window and still have the menu bar visible then you wont reopen already close tabs. You may need to be able to reopen the three last closed windows via History > Recently closed Windows.

Problem solved from prior post. Firefox had become blocked somehow by McAfee firewall. Set to full access. Now works perfectly.

Malfunction with Web Page Buttons/Tabs

I am running the latest versions of Flash Player, and I run Windows 7. Until a few days ago, I was able to use the Internet normally. Now I have lost some function: The browser seems to read web page tabs and some buttons (although curiously not all) as images instead of as links. Even then, I cannot always log into my account on a given site, nor can I switch tabs.
For a specific example, on my local library's web page, I cannot place a hold using the Hold button either in the catalogue search screen or in the item's record. I cannot log onto yugiohcardmaker at all. I cannot switch tabs on the Aeria Games Free AP offers page. I can still log in on other pages, so this loss of partial function is curious and frustrating.
I do not know whether this is an issue with Flash Player, but the last time I had compatability issues with Real Player and Photobucket, software versions were part of the issue. Please let me know what you find. I have tried using Firefox and Chrome, and neither work with these functions.

You would need a library card and account to test the libraries' buttons. Can't export a web page

I've just upgradded to iLife '08. When I try to save a web page the same as I had with the previous version of iPhoto, it doesn't work. The following steps are taken:
Highlight eight photos in a folder
Select File>Export
In the Export Photos window, select Web Page tab
Make other selections on the page and click Export
Then I've tried various file destination folders and the Desktop
When I click OK, an Exporting sub-window appears for a moment, then it changes to say
Unable to generate web page and only gives me the option to Cancel
It gives me no clues as to why it is unable to generate a web page. It has created the folders for the Images, Pages and Thumbnails but there isn't anything in those folders. I believe this is the same steps I used many times with iPhoto '06 to create a web pages.
Does anyone have an idea on how to save web pages with the new iPhoto? How can I revert back to the old version of iPhoto?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. See if this will help.
Next, log into another account or boot into Safe Mode and see if you can export to a web page. If so then there's something amiss with your account. If not, then a reinstall of iPhoto seems appropriate.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Web page different from opening link in a new tab or new window from Google search results

I had been using another browser for a few months because I did not want to lose the web pages I opened within Mozilla. I began using Mozilla again after saving off the web pages. I see that Google's web page pulls in search results as I type in keywords, a feature I don't remember seeing with other browsers along with a magnifying glass icon, like a look ahead of what a web page looks like before clicking on the link.
With the list of search results, I click on the link and tell Mozilla to open the link in a new tab. I see the google icon, "loading..." or "testing...", then results other than the link I wanted. Those other results maybe bing.com, http://66.45.255.230/click.php?c=0920f96609cb269f1d0045095c09, http://superpages.iarbiz.com/o6gIoMdG6so=-tQ1LeOu1v0kY34rDZ|oRy8Xt294ACu6X, Info.com, Supermedia Reverse Proxy (http://superpages.iarbiz.com/o6gIoMdG6so=-tQ1LeOu1v0kY34rDZ|oRy8Xt294ACu6X)or whatever else. As for the link, I managed to press stop before being redirected.
This is with any search results listed.
I thought it was Google.
Changed to Instant is off.
Nope. Still the same issue. Have already gone after malware. Tried resetting the redirect value to 0.
Above results also occur when opening the link in a new page via right menu click.
Copying link location and pasting in a new window is displaying results okay.
When resuming use of Mozilla, an update was available and installed. Did not experience the above issues before the update.
Running version 3.6.12. Running Win XP Pro SP3.
Had to go back to IE and Chrome/SRWare Iron.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. 
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

A tab popped up wich said Mozzilla Security, the web page seemed to scan my computer, stated it was infested with several viruses, and that I should download protection immediatly. Is this legit?

But the security button is gray, McAfee doesn't recognize the site, and the web address does not contain Mozilla.com. Do I have a virus, as it states, or is this uninvited web page trying to install a virus? What should I do?

Just because it said Mozilla Security in the title bar does not mean it is from Mozilla as Mozilla nor the Firefox browser has ever done such a thing.
This sounds like one of those fake animated scanners which claims it is scanning your computer and then says you are infected with such and such. It then suggests to download something that will be what really infects your computer if using Windows. As long as you did not download and install this whatever.exe then you should be safe. Though you may want to scan your computer with whatever antivirus software you have with updated definitions just to be safer.
This sort of thing is even more obvious on being fake when Linux and Mac users can encounter these pages.

When I click on a link in an email (I use Thunderbord) it no longer opens a tab in Firefox for that web page. This started about the time I installed FF v.4. Any ideas?

I've done some looking but have not found anything about this problem.
More details --, if I get an email (Thunderbird, latest version) that has a link in it, it will be highlighted but now when you click on it to go to that web page or site nothing happens. I've looked through HELP and tried various option settings and also thought it might have something to do with an add-on but I have not found any way to turn this feature back on -- that is, be able to click on the link in the email and open that web page.
I can copy the link location and paste it in the navigation tool bar and go there, it's just another step.
Any ideas?

I seem to have solved my own problem. When I disabled the add-on "Tab Renamizer" everything started working fine.

I have had this problem before and had to reinstall an earlier version of firefox.
The error console has a long list of errors, many of them end with: does not implement nsIObserver. Is there a way to send the information on the error console to firefox support?
Redownloading Firefox 4.0 will fix my problem until I either close firefox or turn off my computer. The problem recurs when I open firefox again.

Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well. 
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

How can I set a default web-page when opening new tab?

How to make a tabbed panel in fireworks for a web page?

I know fireworks is not the best place to make a web page. I have to use this because it is a mockup for school. i have the tabs up and each state made in each tab i have the appropriate tab merging with the content area. I also have 3 other states I have created for each tab. first problem i am having is that when I click on state 2,3 and 4 I my content disappears including my master page and all of my other content I don't know how to make it show like it does in state 1. my second problem is I don't want to slice the hotspots to make the tabs. I just want to make the hotspots navigate to each state is that at all possible? or do I just have to slice it? the reason I don't want to slice is because the instructor does not like it when we slice content don't ask me why.

PDF in browser: launch web page in new window/tab

Good morning all,
Our forms use the hyperlink functionality and the desired result is to have the web page launch in a new browser window, or tab, when viewing the PDF in a browser. When the web page opens in the same window, the form data is lost after hitting the back button to return to the form content.
The current alternative is to use xfa.host.launchURL() function however we're wondering if there is a Preference setting in Reader we could enable/disable instead. Most of the links are text embedded in paragraph so hyperlinks work and look really good.
Changing the internet options of the browser is not an option for us.
Also looked at Reader's Edit | Preferences | Documents | Open Cross-document Links in Same Window which appears quite promising based on the Help's description:
Open Cross-document Links In Same Window
Closes the current document and opens the document being linked to in the same window, minimizing the number of windows open. If the document being linked to is already open in another window, the current document is not closed when you click a link to the open document. If you do not select this option, a new window opens each time you click a link to a different document.
But for some reason I can't explain, the web page still opens in the same window after disabling the cross-document option. So maybe I should rephrase my question and ask if someone knows any reason why option doesn't work?

Hi Hélène,
I don't know of any option to force hyperlink behaviour when the form is opened in a browser.
Have a look at George's suggestion to use a button without fill or border over the text: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1342426#1342426
It is a bit of double handling and you need to maintain the button in the correct position. However it does give you greater control in forcing a new browser window/tab.
The open cross-documents preference didn't work for us either.
When testing forms here we see a big difference in behaviour between different browsers and OS. So while you may get a hyperlink working in IE, the same solution may not work in other browsers. On balance I think overlaying a button would be the most robust.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Opening a web page in a new tab appear web page from the history

When I like to open a web page in a new tab, is opening a BLANK page and in the new tab's address bar appear a random web page address from history .

Try performing a clean reinstall.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the presently open web page in another tab? It used to be Ctrl + N. This shortcut now opens a Tab with the home page instead of duplicating the web page I'm on.

Firefox has always opened new tabs in a blank page, so I'm guessing that the way you had it before was added by an extension.
If you to to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, are there any extensions disabled?
In any case, you can still do this with a mouse shortcut. Hold down the Ctrl key as you drag a tab to an empty area on the tab bar.
