Web pages don't display right, and can't open certain links

Facebook doesn't show images. My ATT Yahoo home page is displayed very large. Firefox Desktop page only displays links on a blank white page. Can't open links on firefox desktop page, google, bing, etc... Firefox help page works fine. HELP!!!

When I did a Google search for "CSFire 6.0.1" just now, this thread showed up: I see, looking at the "More system details" item next to your original message that you also use CSFire.
I updated to Firefox 6.0.1 today. Immediately afterwards I began having problems. If I clicked a bookmark, the browser didn't wouldn't navigate to it. Actually, when I opened Firefox, it wouldn't even browse to my homepage.
After going through and disabling one-at-a-time ALL of my extensions, I've discovered that CSFire is the culprit. When I disable that, everything works again.
Since - allegedly - nothing's changed in Firefox 6.0.1 bar the certificate revocation, I'm not sure why this should be, but it is nonetheless.
No idea if this will help you, but I thought I'd put it out there on the offchance. Best of luck!

Some web pages display words running together or overlapping. as if the whole page can't display fully.

Try making the font smaller in Safari / Preferences - Appearance.

  • Small web pages: how to display right?

    Hi!
When I go to some mobile-optimized web pages, like for example http://microsofttranslator.com/m/  the text appears super-tiny on the top-left corner of my phone, so every time I go there I have to make the "zoom" gesture with my fingers and then re-center the page.
That really makes these sites less useful, since a big part of the appeal is to be able to *quickly* look something up on my phone.
Is there something I can do so that it remembers the size, even if I quit and restart the web browser? The simplicity of these mobile-optimized pages is otherwise very appealing.

    Hello jpmartin and welcome to the forums;
An easier way to zoom in would be for your example to tap one time in the box where you are going to type. This automatically zooms and centers on that text box, giving good access to the other options on the screen.
The problem is the difference in mobile platforms and web browsers. The Pre's browser usually registers on websites as a standard browser, not a mobile one. If you try going to http://microsofttranslator.com/m/ from your desktop PC, you get the same exact page that appears on the Pre. Some sites are built to recognize the Pre and direct you to an optimized site that works extremely well (Google and gmail are great examples here), and some are not.
Also, try the non-mobile version of the site, since it loads the same way as on a desktop PC, you may find that interface more user-friendly, or try one of the many other web-based translators.
    Hope this helps,

  • Can't open certain links on website

I go to a website called SVPworld.com which is basically for musicians. When I go into their Forum and click on the links there the window opens up as a blank page. When I go there using my PC I don't have this problem. Everything opens up fine. I eventually want to discontinue using my PC so I want everything to work right on my Mac Intel.
    Any suggestions....Thanks?
    Peter

    Peter,
I'm a web developer and had a look at this site to see what may be the problem. Some websites are designed for Internet Exporer or other browsers and use bits of proprietary or non-standard code that can effectively exclude [some] other browsers. This is not a problem with Safari, per se, but with the shortsightedness of website owners and web developers.
It appears that SVPWorld's forums are driven by third-party software on their server, and this software hasn't been kept up-to-date. It may also be that the producer of this software didn't and doesn't support Safari, which would be a shame given Apple's commitment to web standards. That said, you could try to convince the web administrator of SVPWorld to update their software, which may fix the problem. The fact that they're ostracizing a part of their clientelle may convince them to invest in updating.
My suggestion in the meantime is that you use the site on Firefox, or if you're interested in a more streamlined browser without all the features, try Camino. Both are free.

various buttons like home, search, drop downs do not show. if you hover the mouse where they are supposed to be you can click them and they work. I've had this problem since getting windows 8.1 last year. I have played with the settings and followed many suggestions on various sites for simular problems. I also removed internet explorer. I have aol on here and there no problem with its browser. I get no error messages and firefox seems to work fine other wise.

  • Pages aren't loading right and can't find answer in atricles.

For 2 days now every site I go to normally is loading weird. Things are piled up on top of each other, things dissappear, the things that aren't piled on each other is in blocks instead of pictures, icons, etc... and i have to reload all the time-pretty much as soon as I bring up any page on any site. It's getting tiring and frustrating. I've tried and tried to fix this and am having no luck. I've clicked on all the restore defaults I can find and it's just not doing it. I really don't want to get rid of Firefox cause for me this is the only thing I trust but honestly I'm thinking about it. Please help!!!

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • Can't open certain links.

Some links I can follow, others i cannot unless I ctrl-click and choose open in new window or open in new tab, Then they work fine.
A couple examples are here on the "safari" page.
At the top of the page are four "sticky" Forum/Category links:
    Safari Support Pages
    Mac 101: Safari
    Safari for windows
    Safari for Mac
The first two lead back to a different domain "apple.com" The don't work when clicked on, they will open in a new window or new tab however.
The Second two are in the current pages domain "discussions.apple.com" They work fine.
This seems to be the pattern:
Links inside a forum that lead outside the forum don't work.
    Another example:
    http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/lighting/21052-comparison-lighting-types-lumen s-watts.html
any links posted here won't open in the current window.
Any idea why this would happen and how to fix it?
I have Safari Stand installed but it doesn't have any add blocking features.
I have Adblock for Safari installed but this still happens even when it is disabled.
    Thanks

What I mean by they don't work when clicked on is that if I click on them they don't work - as in they don't open a new window or tab the way the developer intended.
As I said, I have to Ctrl-Click and choose "open in new tab" or "open in new window" in order to get them to - wait for it - open in a new tab or open in a new window.
They don't work as intended - as in the links don't work when I click on them.
Also, the link I provided was to a fourm post. If I click on any of the links in that fourm post I get nothing.(unless I Ctrl-Click).
BUT, now that you tell me that the two links from dicussions.apple.com were intended to open in a new window (which I didn't know becuase - you know - nothing happend when I clicked them) that is a clue. I checked the links in the fourm post that I linked to and they are also coded to open to new windows.
So Safari isn't opening new windows. Maybe when a link has a Target="blank" property and trys to pop open a new window it is blocked. But I don't have "Block pop up windows" seleced from the Safari Menu. Maybe I should uninstall adblock instead of just disabling it.
Also I checke another mac with Safari Stand installed and it works fine so I don't think it is Safari Stand causing the problem.

  • While in AKO, I can't open certain e-mails ERROR: blockedhttps?

While in my AKO e-mail, I can't open certain links because I get an error that says blockedhttps. This has been going on for at least a year.
Help. Very frustrating. I've asked other AKO user and they experience the same thing.

If you float your mouse over the link and glance down at the status bar, does it show the word blocked run in with the URL like blockedhttp:// or blockedhttps:// (followed by the destination)?
I'm guessing that there's a script that is supposed to "unblock" the URLs and the script doesn't work correctly on Firefox. That's just speculation because I don't have an account so I can't test.
As a possible workaround, right-click the link and choose Copy Link Location. Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab, then press Cltr+v to paste the link into the location bar where you can edit it before pressing Enter to load the link. That's a hassle, but I'm reluctant to suggest hacking the page... don't want to get anyone in trouble.

After upgrading to Mac OS Lion, even after installing Java manually, some web pages don't download and appear blank whereas Firefox and Opera work. Can someone help?

Might be a third party Safari addon that was compatible with Snow Leopard but not Lion that's preventing pages to load. That add on may not have any effect on the other browsers, just Safari.
Read here  >  Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Also, if you have Little Snitch or Peer Guardian or anti virus sofware installed on your Mac, that might prevent pages to load also.

  • Web pages don't fill the screen completely and with the font settings on 16 or larger the links and letters/words overlay making it difficult to read.

Web pages don't fill the entire monitor screen and words overlay

You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.
    *Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
    *NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

When DW starts acting weird, the first thing to try is Deleting Corrupted Cache.  Be sure to turn on Hidden files & folders in your Windows Explorer.

If that doesn't help, try Restore Preferences.

    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to smf.crm.red.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
    Same problem in Firefox.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
