Web pages showing up as strange gibberish/code

Some web pages are showing up as "coded" or complete gibberish on our MacBook Pro...
So for today's featured Wiki page, it shows up as "Parapsychology is the study af boromarnal evemts imcludimg...(continuing this way on the whole page and all others on Wiki)" But when cut and pasted it says: "Parapsychology is the study of paranormal events including..." This doesn't just happen on Wiki, but that's the one we obviously notice the most.
Only happens on the MacBook Pro, NOT on the iBook. Everything's equally updated on both and Firefox versions are exactly the same. Any ideas on this one? Appreciate any insight you can give.

A problem with text encoding settings in Safari, perhaps, Padi?
Under "Text Encoding" in the view menu try selecting something like "Western Iso Latin 1" and see if the problem persists.
(Edit - Whoops - I see you are using Firefox, so the encodings will be under "View/Character Encodings...")
Cheers
Rod

You (or your kids) inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it.
Any tips on how to stop it from happening?
Yes. To learn how to avoid it in the future read How to install adware.
If you require them, Apple's removal instructions are linked in the Recovery Procedure near the end of that document. Read and follow them carefully. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.

  • I can no longer print a web page. I get an error code 20 message

I can no longer print a web page. When I do I get an error code 20, unspecified problem.

Try a battery pull, wait a couple of minutes and pop it back in..

  • My web pages show up like if I am using my phone why? how can I fix it?

When I go to a web page it shows like if I was using a phone

If you share an Apple ID, both of your phone numbers should be linked to that ID. You should be able to use your phone number as well. My wife, my daughter and I all share an Apple ID for purchases, and we each text from our iOS devices using our own iPhone numbers.
When iOS 6 came out, you were able to link the phone number with your Apple ID to use for Messages and FaceTime. You will need to sign out of messages on all devices and then start the process all over again.
    Take a look at this.

  • How to launch UI Maps and Web Pages in a browser with OUAF code

    Hi,
I would like to know if there any classes in OUAF which would let an user to write some java code to call the UI Map or Web page of an OUAF based application?
For example if user wants to navigate to person page (Menu-> Admin Menu -> P -> + Person), then is it possible to launch Person page with any existing java classes in OUAF?
Something like the following. Is this really posssible/acheivable with so called re-usability property of OUAF. Any proxy or factory pattern based class for accessing any UI Map or Web Page of the application.
    PersoncCass p = new PersonClass();
p.open(Mode::Add); //Should open the Maintenance Map
p.open(Mode::read) // Should open the Display Map
p.open(Mode::Search) // should open Person Search Portal

Can someone kindly help me on this? Is there any possible solution for the scenario that i mentioned?
All I need to is to quickly launch all the UI Maps or all the screens of an OUAF application in a browser, using some java classes in OUAF or any java script method...

  • Web page shows the top of page (a horizontal bar of text), but majority is bumped far right. (1/4 page.) Page shows in other browser. Cleared cache, no help. ?

I have taken a screen shot of the problem page. I don't know why this has happened but it has happened on Firefox for Mac and PC. It does not happen in the Safari browser.
The top of the page looks correct.
Underneath everything is shifted right. This leave 3/4 of the screen to be white. 1/4 of the right side of the page is showing the actual left side of the page.

You can't attach a screenshot to the first post that starts a thread, but you can do that in subsequent replies.
Does this only happen on one specific website?
Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?
It is possible that there is a problem with that web page and that there is a clear:both CSS rule missing that causes Firefox to start the next line at the horizontal position where the previous line ended.
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

  • Old web page shows through to new web page when printing

The page or window under the current page shows through when printed but not when viewing current page or window.

    Did you try Safe Mode?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Safari web inspector -- show colors as hex-value codes?

Is it possible to set the Safari web inspector so that it shows color codes as hex values (e.g., #e5e5e5) instead of rgb values (229,229,229)? I haven't found anything in the menus, but perhaps there's a variable somewhere that can be set through the command line?

It's not a high priority bug however, so don't get your hopes up

  • OIM custom web page developed shows up on copy pasting the URL in browser

    Hi experts,
I am facing this weird issue. I have developed a custom web page to generate password after adding custom menu item in OIM.
The web page shows up on copy pasting the URL in browser. Only System admins after loggin in should get this menu item and page after clicking on it.
    http://xxxx:7778/xlWebApp/generatePassword.do
But any1 can access this page currently. I have changed the action class to check for valid session,so clicking reset doesnt trigger the code.
So atleast the functionality is protected.
But the page still shows up on copy pasting the URL. How do i prevent this from happening ??
Any suggestions and pointers would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Confused developer.

My action class does extend tcAction class.
Does my action class need initialisation code i.e. below lines of code ??
                   ConfigurationClient.ComplexSetting config = ConfigurationClient
                             .getComplexSettingByPath("Discovery.CoreServer");
                   final Hashtable env = config.getAllSettings();
                   tcSignatureMessage moSignature = tcCryptoUtil.sign("xelsysadm",
                             "PrivateKey");
                   ioUtilityFactory = new tcUtilityFactory(env, moSignature);
    1 more question :
Should i check for valid HttpSession() in the execute function() of the action class ??
Can you share code for a sample custom action class please ??
    Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle CODE Submission Web Page - MAKE IT WORK  finally ( not temporary! )

Is it possible to finally FIX Oracle Code Submission web page. Last year ( last half ) it return errors, same this time. Is any possible way to finally FIX it without anytime alert that it is not working or broken. As far as I understand that the place were we share our code/tips/ideas, not publish our friends or something like that. I think if we use it, then at least put warning prior than we try to submit. No conversations about re-type same code ( tip used SQL, new tip - SAME but using PL/SQL function ), but at least make it work.
    Thanks/Ilya

Thanks, Olivier. That may help me in future and shows me where I can edit some of the HTML code (though I've no experience yet of even reading HTML or Javascript, let alone editing it!).
The web page I'm trying to edit has a URL of https://....../sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbpstart which fits your example but the templates under service BBPSTART seem to bear no resemblance to the screen I need. The code under services BBPSC01 and BBPSC02 looks more relevant but still doesn't refer to the screen input field that I'm looking to edit.
Doing View Source on the web-page dumps the (very lengthy) generated code. Extracted from the header of that code-dump is...
This page was created by the SAP Integrated ITS, WebAS: SRA, workprocess: 0
    Template: bbpsc02/99/saplbbp_sc_ui_its_2000.html
Does that point me to the actual editable source?
(I am using SE80 in the SRA system.)
I wrote the above on 3rd Jan but was unable to post it.
Since then I have found template SAPLBBP_SC_UI_ITS 2000 in service BBPSC01 does bear a resemblance to the displayed page code but as a scanty framework. The generated code has vastly more lines. I can't yet see how the template becomes the web page and where all the addditional lines of code come from and are edited.

  • Applecare not showing up on Apple's web page

I enrolled all 3 of my computers in Applecare, however only 2 of the 3 are showing up on Apple's web page. I called and was told that the 1 not showing up was enrolled......just a little concerned.
    Any comments?

It seems to take a while for the system to update. I had the same problem, but I don't remember how long it took for it to show up. Mine is now in the system, but they have the purchase date wrong. The web page shows 5/12/05 and the purchase was 5/23/05. They do indicate it is an estimated date which is strange. I just noticed my Applecare agreement shows 5/11/05 effective date. I guess I'll call for a correction.

  • Ios not showing web pages correctly

Anyone know why some database driven web pages show up fine on Macs, Windows, android, linux, etc but not in ios?
This page works fine apart from when viewed on iphone/ipads. The schedule page is blank on iphones/ipads. All browsers
    http://www.metrosoccerny.com/schedule.php?seasonid=394

Not sure if this will help or not, but I read a previous post and it mentions DNS settings being configured incorrectly.  Take a look at the article that they posted http://macs.about.com/od/faq1/f/browserdns.htm

  • Web pages without file extensions

    Hi All
I have Mac OS X Server 10.5 running on a mac mini, i have set up my own single web page through server admin and i am able to access it perfectly by typing in safari http://intranet.
but the question i have is whenever i click on any link's on my page it will bring that page up but in the address bar have for eg http://intranet/blog/index.html
is there anyway to have it so it just says http://intranet/blog/
I am pretty new to this and am totally confused, i am not sure if i need to alter the code of the web pages. i have looked in the code and it is all href to a page but without the extension on it.
    Please could someone help
    Thanks

It's not entirely clear what it is you're asking.
Are you saying you never want to see the filename in the address bar and that you want the address bar to always show http://intranet/blog/ ?
If so the simple answer is no - at least not with standard web programming. The only way you could is by using advanced techniques using DHTML/AJAX or something similar where you load content in the background and change the display rather than loading a whole new page. This is truly an advanced technique.
If my understanding of what you're trying to do is wrong, please post more details of what it is you're trying to do.
