Web Previewer in Forms won't

We've just upgraded to forms 6 and I was trying to use the web
preview and pressing the icon causes the form to compile but the
browser doesn't start up. I've built a HTML template file and
specified it in the preferences of forms but I still cannot get
the form to come up. Any suggestions

I am running Dev6 on Win NT 4.0 but I have the same problem.
Any idea?
Thanks.....

  • How about "Web Previewer"?

    Hi!
    I want to try the "web previewer" in Form 6.0, but when I click the "Run Form Web" button in Form Layout Builder, nothing happens.
    From a book "Oracle Developer Advanced Forms & Reports", page 48, it says "The web previewer is implemented through a separate program ifweb60.exe", but I can not find this program on disk (or CD). The book also confirms the program is availabe on NT, I am using NT.
    Anyone have some ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    My software are:
    Win NT 4, OS patch 6.
    Oracle Developer 6. (Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.5.0.2 )
    Database is 8i (8.1.5.0.0)

    You require the Oracle Developer Server in order to run the Forms on Web as well as client server. If you have just Oracle Developer, then Forms will run only as client server applications and will not have the Web Component required to run Web Forms.

  • Appearance of forms in DW vs actual web preview

    i was wondering why i can't get the forms in dreamweaver
    design mode to look like they do in the web preview. the web
    preview is great, i just would like that to show through while im
    designing. it seems whenever i try to insert a form, it
    automatically decides to insert half way down the div. in the
    attached example the DW design mode shows the form spaced down a
    few lines. i want it to start at the very top of the div. any
    ideas? check the link below for a graphic of what im talking about.
    much appreciated!
    form
    not cooperating in design mode

    Try using CSS to manage the top/bottom margins on the
    <form> tag.

  • Forms 6i Run Form Web Preview Error

    Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help!
    Nt 4.0, SP6A
    Forms and Reports 6i (installed first, Home0)
    Oracle 8i Client for database management
    (installed 2nd, Home1)
    Home selector selected for Home0
    When running web preview I get the following error: FRM-99999: Error 18114 occurred. See the release notes file (relnotes) for information about this error.
    Release notes suggestes the following
    FRM-18114: FORMS60_JAVADIR not set.
    Cause: For Web Preview from the Builder to work the Registry variable
    ORMS60_JAVADIR must point to the location
    that contains the Forms Java files. This
    varable should have been set by the Oracle Installer when Oracle Forms Developer was installed. A typical value for this variable is c:\orant\forms60\java.
    Action: Create or update the registry variable on NT, FORMS60_JAVADIR, and set its value to the location that contains the Forms Java files.
    I created a registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, HOME0 containing the following: FORMS60_JAVADIR:REG_EXPAND_SZ:C:\Oracle\Dev6i\Forms60\java
    The error persists.
    Has anyone experiences this problem or have
    any ideas. Thanks in advance for help.

    Theresa,
    More than likely, you need to change the properties of the Forms Runtime (ifrun60.exe) to run in Windows XP mode and run with Administrator privileges. Since Oracle Forms 6i is so old it does not work very well with the new security model of Windows 7.
    Hope this helps,

  • Web Previewer not working in 9iDS

    I'm trying to get a generated forms module to run automatically in the web previewer after I generate it. In the Forms Generator Options dialog under the Run tab I have "Run as a Web Form" and "Run Form Automatically" boxes checked. JInitiator 1.3.1.9 is installed and I believe running - the JInitiator Control Panel dialog has the "Enable JInitiator" box checked (does this need to be running?). I have also started up OC4J.
    When I generate the module I get the dialog at the end stating that generation is complete but the form does not come up in Web Previewer. Furthermore, "Run the form in Web preview mode" is not in the list of the "List Actions" box in the message window.
    Any ideas?
    I'm using Designer 9i release 2 (v. 9.0.2.9).

    I think Note 198384.1 How To Run Generated Forms via Designer 9i
    is what you are looking for.
    "Checked for relevance on 19-Feb-2009"
    goal: How To Run Generated Forms via Designer 9i/10g
    fact: Oracle Designer 9.0/10g
    fact: Design Editor
    fact: Forms Generator
    fact: Reports Generator
    fix:
    When a form module is created and generated in Designer, one of the actions
    available in the Build Action list is to test run the module.
    However, in the 9iDS Release 2 product set, the ability to run a Form via a
    Client - Server GUI interface has been removed. Instead, forms can only be
    run on a Forms Service via a web browser, whether the form is being run from
    Designer or from within Forms Builder.
    If a Forms Service has not been setup, or is not available to the development
    system, then a "reduced version" is available via software installed as part
    of 9iDS Release 2 - this comprises of the Jinitiator and OC4J listener. Steps
    for settings these up from a 9iDS Release 2 install and running them on the
    local, client PC, are given in Note 198297.1.
    To enable the Build Action "Run Form from web server" in the Design
    Editor, the following additional steps need to be taken :-
    1. Forms Generator Options.
    Ensure that the following File Destinations are explicitly set; it is
    suggested that the same directory be used :-
    Forms Options tab -> Destination of Generated Files
    Menu Options tab -> Destination of Generated Files
    Compile -> Form Executable From Binary -> Destination
    Compile -> Menu Executable From Binary -> Destination
    Run -> Web Browser : Ensure this is set to a valid web browser installed
    in the local PC.
    If the Web Browser setting is not entered, then the "Run Form ..." action
    will not be added to the Build Action list.
    In addition, the following option can be checked :-
    Run -> Run Form Automatically
    This will cause the form to be run automatically at the end of generation,
    via the Forms Service and browser.
    2. Preference Settings.
    The preference settings group "Web Deployment" holds the preferences that
    are used to determine what Forms Service to use when attempting to run the
    form from Designer.
    WEBPTH (Server form location path) = The local file path where the FMB
    and FMX files have been generated to. This is the File Destination set
    above in the Generator Options.
    WEBURL (Server base URL) = The base URL of the Forms Service.
    If a "standard" Forms Service is being used, then this URL will be provided
    by the administrator of the Forms Service. However, if the "reduced version"
    mentioned above is being used on the client PC, the text for this value is
    constructed like so :-
    "http://<Local PC Name>.<Domain>:8888/forms90/f90servlet"
    where <Local PC Name> is the Full Computer Name of this PC, as defined in
    the
    Network Identification tab of the Systems applet in the Control Panel
    (for Windows 2000)
    and <Domain> is the domain which this PC has logged onto, again defined
    in
    Network Identification tab, for Windows 2000.
    Alternatively, if the PC is running stand-alone, then can be omitted.
    The rest of the string - the port number of 8888 and the virtual directory
    of "/forms90/f90servlet" - are the defaults used by the "reduced version"
    of the Forms Service - these are controlled by the values in the file
    "cauprefs.ora" in the root directory of the 9iDS Release 2 Oracle home.
    These preferences can be set at higher levels than the Module - at the
    Container level, or in a preference set. However, note that if the "reduced
    version" Forms Service is being used on each client PC, then the WEBURL
    details will be specific to each client PC - the preference will therefore
    have to be updated depending on which client PC is generating then running
    the form.
    Comment: where speaking about 9iDS Release 2, it is also applicable for 10g iDS

  • Fillable Forms won't save

    Hello!  Pardon my beginner-ness.
    I've converted a MS Word doc to a fillable form - it went super-smoothly - loved it.  When testing it by sending to another PC, I get a message that indicates, I paraphrase, "data entered into the form won't be saved - print it."
    The goal here is to provide a fillable form that can be saved/stored.  Please tell me that it's possible and I just haven't done it right.
    Can you help?
    Dude-ler

    Be careful. Upgrading to get the feature may still not be what you want. The feature is limited by the license, sec 15. You can read the AA9 license from the adobe site. Basically you are limited to 500 saves if the file is submitted as a form. Read carefully to check the exceptions. For the web, it is likely not a good idea and you may likely exceed the limit -- meaning big bucks to Adobe. If you are not happy with the limitations, then don't upgrade and complain later.
    The real question is if it is necessary for your clients to be able to save the completed PDF form. If not, then forget it and use what you have. It is just not worth the cost or potential legal problems if you don't need it.

  • Web app: How can I make a web app input form post directly to a sub category

    Please, how can I go about this? Some of the ideas coming to my head is to  replace the section I require with the  generated webapp input form code with this:
    <input type="radio" name="CAT_Category" value="{module_category, ID} onclick="javascript: return false;" >2013 /> // Not tested because am not sure of the markup
    Am I on point ? Or is there any other way I can get this done.

    I Trickster, pardon me if am not clear enough. But this is it. I have many BC Categories setup for different web apps. If you use the module {module_categorylist} only. BC will populate all the categories on the BC site, instead of a specific category  relevant to the web app. If it is {module_categorylist, categoryID}, you are telling BC to use the the categories in a specific category.
    When you say that you want to assign a web app item to a sub-category... do you mean the built in BC categories . I want to do this via the web app input form not through the admin.
    Do you have a top-level category that contains all the relevant sub categories that the user could use to classify/categorize the web app item upon submission?  Yea I have a top category that the user could use. It is this top-level category ID, I have used with the categorylist module.
    If you don't want the user to choose the sub-category themselves, how do you plan to derive the sub-category anyway? Thanks again Trickster. You have provided the solution to that with the hidden input field code you shared earlier. The sub-category has been pre setup as usual in BC and the sub-category ID would be used as you instructed in the code. This is intended for another web app that won't require users selecting a category. This is the example you shared:
    <input type="hidden" name="CAT_Category" value="my category ID"/>
    Using my example above I was able to test and have it working (using {module_categorylist} with the SELECT element) on a web app input form and when I submitted the new web app item it was classified in the category I chose. Yes Trickster, it works for me too that way. the web app item was classified perfectly, but if you go to your the web app item submitted at the admin-end, you will discover in that the category the user selected in the front-end is not selected, even though the item was classified
    I have highlighted it here: http://screencast.com/t/dwiXzBFXp
    The option selected  by the user is not captured. It often defaults to the 2012, even when the user selected 2013 and the item has been classified as 2013.
    I hope am more clearer. Thanks for all the effort.

  • Field that is not visible in my editing screen but showing in web preview. How to remove it?

    Hi Support,
    When I preview my form in web preview, I am seeing a field that is not visible in my editing screen. It starts at the left margin of the web preview and runs off the edge of the right side of the page.
    The form is also crashing when I attempt 'page view' or 'save as pdf' and I believe this phantom field is the culprit. I have spent considerable time on the form and do not want to recreate from scratch.
    Can you please advise how I can make this field visible in the editing section so that I can permanently delete it?
    Further information:
    I do not have any rules set for any of my fields
    I have tried to remove it in Chrome, IE and Firefox
    My cache has been cleared today
    My plug-ins and flash player are all current versions (updated today and performed a restart)
    Thanks,
    Kate

    Hi Kate,
    Could you please share your form with me ([email protected]) so that I can investigate and correct this problem? Instructions on sharing can be found here:

    I believe my it guys have php on their server. When I look on the internet
    to try and use the form to test it, I get the error:
    The website cannot display the page
    HTTP 500
    Most likely causes:
    The website is under maintenance.
    The website has a programming error.
    What you can try:
    Refresh the page.
    Go back to the previous page.
    Here's one php code I have linked to one of my documents:

    * QVCS Version: $Revision: 1.4 $
    * Read This First
    * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    *  This script is very well documented and quite large!  It looks daunting,
    *  but really isn't.
    *  If you have experience with PHP or other scripting languages,
    *  here's what you *need* to read:
    *      - Configuration (TARGET_EMAIL & DEF_ALERT)
    *      - Creating Forms
    *  That's it!  (Alternatively, just read the Quick Start and/or
    *  Quicker Start section below).
    *  Full configuration documentation is here:
    *      http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/index.php
    * Purpose:
    * ~~~~~~~~
    *  To accept information from an HTML form via HTTP and mail it to recipients.
    * What does this PHP script do?
    * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    *  On your web site, you may have one or more HTML forms that accept
    *  information from people visiting your website.  Your aim is for your
    *  website to email that information to you and/or add it to a database.
    *  FormMail performs those functions.
    * Quick Start
    * ~~~~~~~~~~~
    *  1. Edit this file and set TARGET_EMAIL for your requirements (near
    *      line 235 in this file - replace "yourhost\.com" with your mail server's
    *      name).  We also strongly recommend you set DEF_ALERT (the next
    *      configuration below TARGET_EMAIL).
    *  2. Install this file as formmail.php (or other name ending in .php)
    *     on your web server.
    *  3. Create an HTML form and:
    *      - specify a hidden field called "recipients" with the email address
    *        of the person to receive the form's results.
    *      - in the your form tag set the action attribute to
    *        the formmail.php you uploaded to your web server
    *  Once you have FormMail working, you may be interested in some advanced
    *  usage and features.  We have HOW-TO guides at www.tectite.com which
    *  describe many of the advanced processing you can do with FormMail.
    *      http://www.tectite.com/fmhowto/guides.php
    * Quicker Start
    * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    *  Use the FormMail Configuration Wizard here:
    *      http://www.tectite.com/wizards/fmconf.php
    *  By answering a few questions you'll get a configured FormMail and
    *  a sample HTML form ready to upload and use on your server.
    * Features
    * ~~~~~~~~
    *  For a list of features go to: http://www.tectite.com/formmailpage.php
    * Security
    * ~~~~~~~~
    *  Security is the primary concern in accepting data from your website
    *  visitors.
    *  Tectite FormMail has several security features designed into it.  Note,
    *  however, it requires configuration for your particular web site.
    * Configuration
    * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    *  To configure this script, go to the section titled "CONFIGURATION"
    *  (after reading the legal stuff below).
    *  There is only one mandatory setting: TARGET_EMAIL
    *  and one strongly recommended setting: DEF_ALERT
    *  Full configuration information is available here:
    *      http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/index.php
    * Creating Forms

    *         in writing with Root Software allowing you to do so; and,
    *      3. if you modify FormMail before distributing it, you clearly

    *              a) who you are
    *              b) how to contact you

    * Version History
    * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    *  Near the top of this file, you'll find its version. The version
    *  line looks like this:
    *       $FM_VERS = "N.MM";     /* script version ...
    *  The version history used to be located within this file.  However,
    *  starting with Version 8.00 we've moved it...

  • Using Forms 6i for Custom EBS Forms - Won't Run in Forms Builder

    I'm using forms builder 6i to create custom form for ebs 11i. I started with template.fmb. When run the form using the client/server runtime, all of the app_standard calls generate errors. i have to put code in there that checks to see if it is running on the web or not. if i don't do that, the form won't run. why does it not understand the app_standard calls when it is running in client/server mode? is there something i need to change? how can i simulate an EBS environment locally so i don't have to put special code in there for running in client/server mode?

    Please see if these threads help.

  • Forms6i Builder Web Preview does nothing

    On W2k and Forms6i builder when I try to run form as web preview nothing happens.
    Run as Cilent/Server works OK.
    Forms server works OK. If I manually enter in browser
    http://myserver/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?form=module1.fmx
    works OK
    What is wrong? How has to the html file look like? (the html file that is used for web preview)?
    Is there someting else to enter in formsweb.cfg or httpd.conf (apache2)?
    Why is oracle documentation so basic, I need examples!

    appletviewer.exe is in path and it seems web preview does not work because it generates error.
    I don't know exact appletviwer sintax, but in any combination (and location of module1.fmx) I get:
    C:\>appletviewer -debug module1
    Initializing jdb...

    It may have something with JInitiator. When I type http://myserver/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?form=test.fmx
    in my IE50/W2k browser, browser always crashes with no error message (all other IE5 windows dies too).
    It works with JVM: http://myserver/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?config=ie50native&form=test.fmx
    I've downloaded the leatest JInit version, executed it, and it still crashes.

    It is something around 256 if I am not mistaken, I dread to think what a form with 700 columns is like to work with.

  • Get xml data from a web service into Forms?

    Hello folks! I am reading active directory info from a web service into forms via imported java classes. I can read from functions that return strings just fine, but I have to get the output from getGroupUsers which returns an XmlDataDocument. How do I read this in and parse it in Forms?
    I will be grateful if y'all could point me to an example.
    Thank you,
    Gary
    P.S. Here is a snippet of how I get the full name by passing an ID:
    DECLARE
    jo ora_java.jobject;
    rv varchar2(100);
    BEGIN
    jo := ADSoapClient.new;
    rv := ADSoapClient.getUserName(jo, 'user_ID');
    :block3.fullname := rv;

    Hello,
    Since you are already dealing with server-side JAVA, I would suggest you create a method that would do the parsing server-side and what your PL/SQL will be dealing with is just the return string.
    Here is a method I use to read an XML file (actually, it is an Oracle Reports file converted to XML) and from the string version, I will do search, replace and other things.
    So, from getGroupUsers which returns an XmlDataDocument, you can adapt this method to get your data server-side and let the form module read the output data.
    <blockquote>
    private String processFileXml(String fileName, int iFile) throws ParserConfigurationException, SAXException,
    IOException, XPathExpressionException{
    try{
    DocumentBuilderFactory domFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    domFactory.setNamespaceAware(true);
    InputStream inputStream = new FileInputStream(new File(fileName));
    DocumentBuilder builder = domFactory.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document doc = builder.parse(inputStream);
    StringWriter stw = new StringWriter();
    Transformer serializer = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer();
    serializer.transform(new DOMSource(doc), new StreamResult(stw));
    return stw.toString();
    catch (Exception e){
    System.err.println(e);
    System.exit(0);
    return "OK";
    </blockquote>
    Let me know if this is of nay help.
    Thanks.
