Web printing dont like german Umlaute

I use the german version of web printing.
If I print a web site with german umlaute ( ä,ö,ü ) the printer will not print these signs.
What flags have to be set to get the right printout.

I just tested, and it prints out OK with umlaut, and also show correctly in the PDF, so there must be something else wrong in your setup.
What about other accents?
Try to copy this into Web printing:

  • Apex 4.0 Cascading Select List: ajax problem with german umlaute

    Hi everybody,
    Apex 4.0
    Dad PlsqlNLSLanguage: GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8MSWIN1252
    I have problems with german umlaute and ajax cascading select lists (Cascading LOV Parent Item).
    The data is populated without a page refresh in the select list when the parent select list changes but special signs like german umlaute are shown as weird characters.
    Seems like there is some charset problem with ajax.
    This is the only part of the application where special signs like umlaute are messed up. Everything else is fine.
    I allready tried to figure out if I can escape the umlaute in the javascript (file apex_widget_4_0.js) but no success here.
    Can anybody help me with this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
    your specified character set in your DAD is wrong. As mentioned in the installation instructions at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/install.40/e15513/otn_install.htm#CHDHCBGI , Oracle APEX always requires AL32UTF8.
    >
    3. Locate the line containing PlsqlNLSLanguage.
    The PlsqlNLSLanguage setting determines the language setting of the DAD. The character set portion of the PlsqlNLSLanguage value must be set to AL32UTF8,
    regardless of whether or not the database character set is AL32UTF8. For example:Regards

  • Acrobat Pro 9.5.4 Update causes PDF to print more like a web page

    Something changed from 9.5.3 to 9.5.4 such that PDFs opened within a browser (FireFox) now print more like a web page.  This has caused several issues.
    1. Printing now uses the header/footer printing preferences of the browser.  All PDF's I print from within the browser print with the URL in the upper right, time/date in the lower right and all the other header/footer preferences in the browser.  This was never the case before.
    2. Font sizes and text location are different.  We print checks, invoices from PDF's generated within our business system.  These are now misaligned compared to what they have been because of this change.
    It's possible this is related to a browser update but I haven't pinned this down yet.  I'm using Firefox 19.0, Windows 7, 32 bit.
    Any insights are appreciated.

    Hi,
    This is not happening because of Acrobat update but the reason for this change is that Firefox 19.0 has introduced  its own Javascript PDF viewer.
    You can change the settings in browser to use Acrobat plugin for viewing PDF files. Go to Options->Application to chnage the settings, please see attached screenshot for more details.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Dreamweaver FTP connection doesn't work with german "Umlaut" like "ö" in the severadress

    Hi
    Today I tried to establish a FTP connection to the serveradress "ftp.möbelverwandlung.com", but I get the error message that the program couldn't connect to the host. As Dreamweaver works perfectly with other serveradresses and I managed to establish a connection to "ftp.möbelverwandlung.com" with other programs, I think that the problem is the german "Umlaut" "ö". Did anyone recognize the same problem and does someone know a solution?
    Thank you very much for your help

  • Smart Web Printing does not show/print german special characters (äöü)

    I have installes Smart Web Printing on my computer with WIndows 7. I do use a german localization. Selected text is shown and printed correct, except german special characters ä ö ü. They are even not shown correctly in the menues of the application.

    Response to cor-el suggestions:
    I tried what you suggested as far as checking the theme (it's "Default 8.0") and deleting the sessionstore files (there was one .js file, one -1.js file and one .bak file). I still have the same slow response problems (especially typing, it has gone dead on me for a short time twice while typing this replay so far, now a third time) and lost of headers and trailers and some data.
    I did the suggested actions three times just to make sure that I was doing them correctly. On the first try, the sessionstore.js and sessionstore-1.js was more than twice the size of sessionstore.bak. Since doing what was suggested, the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak are, I believe, the same size. I did not write down their size is why I am not certain.
    The printing problem appears to only be with one website which is an investment website which I would prefer not to document here. I print from this website each weekday and I have confirmed that the printing problem started when the upgrade to version 8.0 occurred.
    I need a solution to this or I am going to either go back to IE (Ugh!) or find another browser. The typing delays are an extreme annoyance since I do lots on the Internet including a lot of emailing. The delays also involve the buttons to select functions within a website.
    Is there a way to get back to the version previous to version 8.0?

  • PDF printing German umlauts

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to use the new "Report Query" and "Report Layout" feature. First of all I have to say that my PDF printing setup works generally. My problem has nothing to do with that. Here's what I'm trying to do and what my problem is:
    I'm using a report query on a table which has data with german umlauts (äöüÄÖÜ) and special characters (ß) in it. Trying to print that report with the standard layout works. I see my german nls characters. If I try to apply a XSL-FO stylesheet I get # signs for my german nls characters. I played with the encoding of my stylesheet but that has no effect. TRANSLATE ... USING or CONVERT hasn't any effect either. I also changed the PlsqlNLSLanguage setting in my dads.conf to GERMAN_GERMANY, but that also has no effect. Now I'm pretty lost.
    Anybody out there has some tips on using german special characters in report queries with own written XSL-FO stylesheets ?
    Regards Markus

    Hi Jes,
    this is the query:
    select name, title, original_title,
    to_char ( purchase_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy' ) as purchase_date,
    to_char ( price, '990D00' ) as price,
    currency
    from authors a,
    books b
    where a.id = b.author_id
    order by nlssort ( name, 'nls_sort = generic_m' ),
    nlssort ( title, 'nls_sort = generic_m' )
    here's an excerpt from the XML:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <ROWSET>
    - <ROW>
    <NAME>Buchheim, Lothar Günter</NAME>
    <TITLE>Das Boot</TITLE>
    <ORIGINAL_TITLE />
    <PURCHASE_DATE>21.05.1997</PURCHASE_DATE>
    <PRICE>0.00</PRICE>
    <CURRENCY>DM</CURRENCY>
    </ROW>
    - <ROW>
    <NAME>Stroustrup, Bjarne</NAME>
    <TITLE>The C Programming Language</TITLE>
    <ORIGINAL_TITLE />
    <PURCHASE_DATE>21.05.1997</PURCHASE_DATE>
    <PRICE>0.00</PRICE>
    <CURRENCY>DM</CURRENCY>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    as you can see the umlauts (ü) are there but the + signs are missing. The XSL-FO is indeed too big to post here. If you give me your email address, I'll mail it in zip format to you.
    Regards Markus

  • German umlauts go corrupt.

    Hello together.
    i developed a web application and have problems with the german umlauts now.
    On my local computer Window XP, Apache with PHP 4.3.7, connection to Oracle 10.1.0.4.0 (?) by the OCI of an local Oracle XE installation everything works. Without having set the NLS_LANG, guess its default here is windows-1252.
    The DB is set to UTF8.
    Using the webserver with Linux 2.6.5, Apache with PHP 4.3.7, connection to the same DB by OCI 10.2 the umlauts go corrupt. The NLS_LANG is not set either.
    The output seem to be ( field; DUMP( field ) ):
    Wäöüßrzburg;Typ=1 Len=15: 87,195,164,195,182,195,188,195,159,114,122,98,117,114,103
    and

    I already tried several settings of the NLS_LANG and the encoding of the web page.
    Is there any idea out there? My thought was by setting the NLS_LANG to the same encoding of the web page, it should work.
    Is there anything else that affects this?
    Thanks,
    Lars

    Lars,
    On my local computer Window XP, Apache with PHP
    4.3.7, connection to Oracle 10.1.0.4.0 (?) by the OCI
    of an local Oracle XE installation everything works.
    Without having set the NLS_LANG, guess its default here is windows-1252.
    The DB is set to UTF8.Dont just guess and assume that everything works.
    Verify the client environment, the database char set, and the stored characters.
    The NLS_LANG is not set either.Why not? Do you want to corrupt the data?
    Maybe this document gives some useful info
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/pdf/globalizing_oracle_php_applications.pdf
    The output seem to be ( field; DUMP( field ) ):
    Wäöüßrzburg;Typ=1 Len=15:

    Typ=1 Len=19:
    7,239,191,189,239,191,189,239,191,189,239,191,189,114,
    122,98,117,114,103First part of output looks ok... Maybe your database is created with a proper char set to support your apps. But you need to check.
    How did you come to the second part? The four sets of 239, 191, 189 (U+FFFD) is unicode character 'replacement character' -- my guess is that some character conversion found illegal characters.
    You should set NLS_LANG to indicate what code your client/app uses, to enable Oracle to handle the character conversion.
    If you use format argument to dump, you can get something like:
    SQL> select s,dump(s,1016) from table;

  • HPÜ smart web printing

    Hi, I am using HP smart web printing and have a problem that German 'Umlaute' Ä Ö Ü ä ö ü are not displayed correctly. Instead they are displayed as some special characters. Is there a way to fix this?

    IE9 has not yet been released in final form, it is still in Beta.  I do not know if HP has any plans to support the Web Printing application on IE9, but if they do I would not expect them to release anything before the official IE9 release.

    I know there are various versions of ldapsearch which have differing qualifiers. The one that comes with SUN ONE or iPlanet has the qualifier of -e which means that it will print out german characters. We had this trouble with spanish characters.
    However other versions of ldapsearch do not have this qualifier and hence any such data comes out as binary.
    If your java application uses ldapsearch it must have a qualifier like this. Perhaps the java application can call the ldapsearch function provided by SUN ONE.

  • Resource boundles and german umlaute

    Hello,
    I'm new to 18n, so i have an important question. I'm developing an internationalized web application (currently for German and English Language). How do i write Umlaute like ,,... into the the ResourceBundle files, so that they are displayed correctly on the html pages. The Charset of teh webpages is set to: charset=iso-8859-1.
    Do i have to write <code>&auml;</code> for ?
    Thanks for your help. Nice place.
    Have a nice day

    hello,
    there is no problem with the ressource files itself, so the application is already internationalized. But i don't think in an elegant way for the German locale. In the Res Files we write thinks like:
    SOMEKEYFORIT = Bitte tragen sie eine gueltige Zahl ein.
    The word "gueltige" is such a problem. Is it recommended to write the html code &uuml; instead of "ue" at this point. Or is there another convention for German Umlaute.
    So all in all it works, expect of Umlaute, that are currently not well localized.
    Thank You,
    Have a nice Day

  • German Umlaute don't work after upgrading to Yosemite with Japanese Romaji Layout set on U.S.

    Hi everyone,
    previously i could just use [ALT] + [U] and then press [A] / [a] / [U] / [u] / [O] / [o] to generate the german umlaut version.
    After installing Yosemite this does not work anymore, which is kinda frustrating. Cause it forces me to add another keyboard layout and switch when i have to write a german umlaut.
    I was previously using 'Input Source' > 'Japanese' > Enabled Romaji (Romaji layout was set to U.S.) & Hiragana.
    For testing purpose i added the Standard U.S. Layout and writing the Umlaut with the keyboard shortcut still works there. So that's why i think this is a Romaji specific bug.
    Has anyone any idea what's wrong ? Did Apple change something ?
    Best Regards

    Before I stumbled upon this thread, there was no flag at all. I had the character viewer there because pre-Yosemite it was the only way to access emoji (and things like arrows and other special symbols) in many apps (and still is for my Adobe CS5 apps). Additionally, I would use the keyboard viewer from time to time as a way to learn which keys to use for other special symbols (bring up the keyboard viewer and press option or shift-option or other combinations and it would show you a preview of what each key would generate).
    While reading this thread, I added more input sources (US International and US Extended) and would see the flags. The flags replaced the previous character/keyboard viewer menu icon. I switched between each flag to test my issue under each, to no avail.  Then I tried adding the Spanish keyboard but still had the same issue.
    Now I've removed all the input sources except the primary US keyboard. There is no longer a flag in my menu, it's gone back to the character viewer icon.
    The issue is still there. When I type option-r, u, or g, in any app nothing happens at all.
    Unfortunately, neither auto-substitution nor press-and-hold work in Adobe CS5 apps, which is where I need to use these special characters the most.
    Thank you for reaching out

    When you say the screen always appears, are you wanting the HP Smart Print to minimize so that you can't see it, do you want it only to appear on one tab and not all of them, or are you wanting to get rid of HP Smart Print all together?
    I'll do my best to help you but I do not have Internet Explorer 8.  Also, what kind of computer are you using (ex. Windows 7, Windows XP, etc)? I hope I can help but I can not install IE8 right now since I am working with Smart Print and how it does not work at all on IE10.  I'm more than happy to help if I can.
