Web reporting - variable selection should be display as key and description

hi experts,
Can anybody tell me the solution for my issue. My isssue is , in the web reporting, i have variable company code, i am selecting the company code thru search help. the values for company code is displaying with key.
the new requirement should be displayed with key and description.
I have checked in the bex, the properties of company code has maintained as key. when i run the report when cas selet as key and descritption. bex is not a probelm.
only the problew with webreports, can anybody give some inptus on my issue.

Once you execute the report and the output is displayed....
Go to Settings > Char Display > Choose "Key and Description"
Then Choose menu Report > Save Definition

Dimension in WebI query filter needs to show Key and Description

We have two requirements that we can't get them done:
1. We are building webi report based on Bex universes and we need to show the key and description of an object in the query filter of the report. Does this have to be set in the Bex variable or in the universe?
2. filter the LOV related to a specific dimension that is used in the query filter as prompt. The idea is to show a filtered list in the promp LOV of the dimension used in the query filter of the report. Does this have to be set in the Bex query or in the universe? If it is in the Bex Query, where exactly?
Our system is the following:
- BOE XI 3.1 SP2
- SAP NW 4.0

>> you can easily achieve that by creating a variable in the BEX query - that will return as a LoV with key and description assuming you have key and description in BW for the InfoObject.

Need help for displaying key and description in Dropdown (ABAP WEBDYNPRO)

Hi Experts,
I am using dropdown as a table field. For this dropdown I want to display the value as well as description.
In ALV table when we create a dropdown dynamically in table field, there is a method SET_KEY_VISIBLE in class CL_SALV_WD_UIE_DROPDOWN_BY_KEY.
But I think we cannot use similar method for normal dropdown field in table.
Is there any way we can display both value and description in dropdown value set ?

Hi,
I think there is no such option. You need to consider one variable type string and while populating the
valueset fill this variable by concatenating the value and description and assign it the key and value
pair of the valueset.
DATA:
lt_value_set_ctry      type table of wdr_context_attr_value, " Country/Service Location
lv_str type string.
    loop at lit_country into ls_country.
      concatenate ls_country-value ls_country-text into lv_str separated by space.
      ls_value_set-value = lv_str.
      ls_value_set-text = lv_str.
      append ls_value_set to lt_value_set_ctry.
      clear ls_value_set.
    endloop.
      lr_node_info->set_attribute_value_set( name = 'COUNTRY'
                 value_set = lt_value_set_ctry ).
Consider this lit_country is a text table for countries.

Reg: problem in displaying as key and text

I have a problem while displaying values for 0profit_ctr.
In Development box report working fine. In production it giving problem.
ISSUE:
I want to display the 0Profit_ctr as key and text format. In development box it showing correct. I cross verified the properties of 0proft_ctr charcaterstic in report of development and production box. In both it is defined as dispaly key and text.
Also cross verified the infoobject (0Profit_ctr) details, In both Business Explorer general settings defined as Display as Key and Text.
Everything is same in production and development box for this. Even though in production it showing as text and key. we need to display it as key and text.
any suggestion on this.

It could be that the infoObject has been disturbed, have you tried just re-activating the object in Production.

How to show display attributes like key and description in voyager

This question is on voyager connecting to SAP BI Query. I would like to show both key and description of the row member. It is mentioned in the guide that display attributes can be viewed and changed from the properties tab of the tab panel. But I didnt see any such option in properties tab.
Any solution for this?

It is a XI 3.0 version. I looked at Voyager user guide for XI 3.0 in page no 202. It is about Using Voyager with SAP
"Display attributes
Members have several string properties which are visible in Voyager:
u2022 Key
u2022 Short description
u2022 Medium description
u2022 Long description
u2022 Key and short description
u2022 Key and medium description
u2022 Key and long description
These string properties can be viewed and changed from the Properties tab
of the Tab panel.
Note: Key and text properties are concatenated into a single string, and are
therefore displayed in a single column or row caption field. They do not
appear as separate columns or rows."

Reporting (variable selections)

dear friends,
i got a report with circle and subcircle information. i created a characteristic variables, ZCIRCLE for circle and ZSUBCIRCLE for subcircle. when i execute the query the report will ask for circle and subcircle values. my requirement is when i give some circle value the subcircles which comes under that particular circle should exist, sothat i can select required subcircle from the available subcircles. but what i am getting is when i select a particular circle, all the subcircles which does not belong to the circle which i selected is also displaying. any customer exit required. if so please suggest me .

Hi,
Why don't you create a hierarchy for and create variable on that heirarchy which will let you the way you want to select from the variable screen.
This method would make the user too delighted.

Web report - Variable values while switching between views.

Hi Gurus,
We have a query which has a few variables that are getting populated with default values during query execution[customer exits].
We have added this query to the web.Now there is a date variable which gets populated with the current date value by default.Suppose the users don't vant to run the report for the current date, they are able to change the date in the variable window and execute. But once the report is run, and we try to choose a different vieew for the report, the report automatically gets refreshed with the selected view, but for the default current date value (because of the customer exit).Shouldn't the selected view be getting refreshed with the date values that the user had entered while executing the report?
Also when navigating between the different views, shouldn't a variable window pop up? Is there any setting to have the variable window pop up when navigating between the different views of a web report?
Would appreciate a quick response.

Web Report - Variable window question

I am using the same web-template for a lot of reports. But when I switch between the query views for some of the reports, the variable window is popping up...and for some it isin't.Why is this happening? Should I be changing some prperties in the underlying Bex queries.I am on BI 7.0.

In the Analyzer it is possible to upload text files in the variable selection screen but I can't find this feature in the variable selection screen for Web Templates.

I read in some sap feature paper that it will come.
Maybe it will be possible with modification, but that's only an idea.

Reports - Variable Selection, Restriction Issue

Hi Experts,
I have an object (Region) in the variable selection screen, which is displaying South, East, North, West and some more junk value.
I want to have only South, East, North and West on the Variable screen of the Analyzer.
I have right clicked the Region Char. Variable on the Filter Section and have selected only South, East, North, West.
But when I try to select the region on the Analyzer. I'm getting all the values including the junk values.
Can anyone tell me how do I have only these 4 regions nothing apart from that.

The data I'm getting is from the Data Provider.
But I want to restrict only 2 Zones like South and North in the Variable Selection Screen.
When I try to restrict it at Filter Pane ->select infoobject ->selection variable->right click it restrict.
Both the Zones are correctly being set on the restriction but when I try to execute it in Analyzer its not displaying me only those zone but all the values.

BEx Selection screen Hierarchy display (text - key)

Hi,
We have a new query deployed that uses several hierarchies in the selection screen.
When running the reports, the drop down for the hierarchies on the variable selection screen displays the full text.
However, the users are more familiar with the key value and would prefer to see that. In the actual report, the keys are displayed.
I am trying to find where the default display can be set for the hierarchies on the BEx selection screen so I can show the key values?

Create a FM like below and a wrapper for it so you can call it as part of process chain; we load all of our hierarchies then call this:

Display as Key and Name Not working properly after upgrade to Bi7.0

Recently we have upgrade our BW 3.5 system to BI 7.0 (Only system upgrade not applications ).
after the upgrade we are facing lot of issues with Bex Analyzer. The following are some of the issues
1) In BW3.5 after the execution of Workbook or query ,we can convert to local currency .
Right click on workbook -> Currency translation-> Database currency .
but after upgrade to BI7.0 this is not working ..
2) Characterstic Right click on workbook Dispaly as Key and Name is also not working ..
I know that Currency translation in BI7.0 works in different way compare to BW3.5 .we can use alternate option like By Target Currency from Database currency to convert to local currency and it is working fine in Bex,but businesss users want more friendly way ...because to select the above option they have to enter local currency and rate type ...
Do you we have any notes available for the above solutions ..?Do we need to upgrade Bex version also..?Is there any document which describe how the above things works after system upgraded to BI7.0?

Displaying Photo Titles and Descriptions in stills in iMovie

Hello, I'm wondering if it's possible to get still photo titles and descriptions from iPhoto to display on Stills inserted into iMovie. I am trying to create slideshows of stills and iMovie is the only system that allows you to modify soundtracks, but it, as far as I can tell, won't display Titles or Descriptions. iPhoto and iDVD slideshows display this info, but you have no control or can't even see what audio files you have inserted.

I assume you are referrimg to an automatic method of displaying this information and AFAIK there is no such feature currently programmed into iMovie '08. You can, of course manually title each slide.

Error message display both key and value

Hi,
I've an alt key check & if the validation fails then the error message pops-up and displays :
Error
JBO-SUB_TYPE_CODE_ALREADY_EXIST: The sub type code already exists.
I'm not sure why is it displaying the key (JBO-SUB_TYPE_CODE_ALREADY_EXIST:) part also in the message.
Can someone tell me how to suppress the key part in the error message and just display the message (The sub type code already exists.).

Hi,
If you want to avoid the roundtrip to the database you can also create a uniqueKey validator in the Entity Object
were the AltKey exists. In the failure handling of the validator set the message that you want to be displayed.
