Web server plugin unavailable with SunOne 7 beta

We cannot install the webserver plugin and make it communicate with the appserver residing in a different box..since its not available with the beta version...Any idea as to when this would be available..Or is there any alternative way of doing this with SUN ONE 7
Regards
Nirmal

This feature should be available with the general availability of the software.

    Each ObjectType and Service directive should begin on a new line. You appear to have placed two directives on a single line.

  • Web Server Plugin for 8.1

    We are currently upgrading from WLS5.1 to WLS8.1. We have an IIS Web server that
    interacts with our WLS. I heard we need to upgrade the Web Server Plugin when
    moving from 5.1 to 8.1
    Anybody has any idea of what that involves?
    thanks
    Sami

    To configure sunone to work with WLS, you need to make entires in the magnus.conf and the obj.conf.From the error, it seems as if u missed the entries in the obj.conf.

  • Integration of Sun One Web Server 6.0 with Sun One App Server 7.0

    Is it possible to integrate Sun One Web Server 6.0 with the Sun One App Server 7.0??
    Sun One App Server 7.0 comes with the in-built HTTP listener. But we want to know if there is a way by which we can use the Sun One Web Server 6.0 with the App Server 7.0 and not the in-bulit HTTP listener?

    As suggested by you, I have used Sun ONE Application Server 7's plugin to connect the Sun ONE Web Server 6.0 with Sun ONE Application Server 7 as per the information given in Sun ONE Application Server 7 Administrator's Guide.
    I have added the plugin package to the webserver and added the following into the magnus.conf:
    Init fn="load-modules" shlib="C:/iPlanet/Servers/plugins/passthrough/passthrough.dll" funcs="init-passthrough,auth-passthrough,check-passthrough,service-passthrough" NativeThread="no"
    Init fn="init-passthrough"
    and to the obj.conf
    NameTrans fn="assign-name" from="(/A2P2Test|/A2P2Test/*)" name="passthrough"
    <Object name="passthrough">
    ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/passthrough"
    Service type="magnus-internal/passthrough" fn="service-passthrough" servers="http://<application server http listener>"
    Error reason="Bad Gateway" fn="send-error" uri="$docroot/badgateway.html"
    </Object>
    The webserver starts up without any errors but never forwards any requests what might I be doing wrong?

    I keep receiving a server error message with the new beta version of iMessage.  What can I do to fix this?

    Ok I have a question.
    Why do you want to use Beta software? Especially since you are having this problem with it?
    Uninstall it and forget about it until it is released as a real piece of software.

  • Can web server plugin point to multiple cluster ?

    Hi,
              Can you point a web server plugin to multiple Weblogic 8.1 clusters ? If yes, how does the dynamic list work ?
              E.g. Web server X -> Cluster Y & Cluster Z
              In the plugin documentation it is not explicit that you can or can't do so (http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/plugins/plugin_params.html#1149781).
              "WebLogicCluster : List of WebLogic Servers that can be used for load balancing. The server or cluster list is a list of host:port entries. If a mixed set of clusters and unclustered servers is specified, the dynamic list returned for this parameter will return only the clustered servers."
              Thanks,
              Antonio Goncalves

    you need to introduce a 'NameTrans' directive to redirect the url that you want to send to the back end
    for example, edit your obj.conf to look like
    <Object name="default">
    NameTrans fn="assign-name" name="passthrough" from="<give a top level url that you want to send to the back end"
    and restart the server.
    disabling java will reduce the web server process size significantly. unfortunately, this is a very manual process in 6.1. however, if you could consider migrating to web server 7 u2, where reverse proxy plugin is integrated within the produce (rather than as a separate plugin), u could easily disable-java and configure reverse proxy through either gui or cli command
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2204/disable-java-1?a=view
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2204/create-reverse-proxy-1?a=view
    pl. remember to run a deploy-config as soon as you run each of this above command. again, this would be relevant only if want to upgrade to web server 7

  • Using iPlanet Web Server 6.0 (with ASP or JSP), is it possible to create a StarOffice, Word or Acrobat document using a template and merging it with data from a database (say Oracle)?

    Hi,
    It is possible, But it has to be done through codes and iPlanet Web Server has nothing to do with it. But if you want to create the word document by ASP you have to install ASP plugin like ChilliASP (from Chilisoft) with iPlanet Web Server.Merging with database can be done through your code.
    To know more abt creating word doc through ASP try this link

  • Integrating Web server (eg Apache) with the application server

    I am thinking a project in which I use more static HTML files than JSPs. One way is to use an Apache server to display those HTML files (it should be faster), and deploy the JSPs into the J2EE server; another way is just simple to change the web containers port to 80 (of the PE 8), and wrap all the files into a war file and deploy it into the application server.
    So can someone advise my which way is better? And if I use the first one, Id like to know if it is the same way to integrate Apache with Tomcat.
    Thank you very much!

    In the past there has been a belief that the Apache web server serves static content faster than tomcat. Site managers would configure apache to deliver static content and integrate a web container to handle the dynamic content. I believe this argument is losing steam as tomcat gets better. I guess the only way you will know for sure is to deploy your application in PE 8.0 and then in an apache/web container configuration and do some benchmarking. I have no such benchmark data to compare and I base my comments on what I have read in newsgroups over the past months. Personally, I would opt for the app server only setup just to ease configuration. Others may have a different opinion.

  • Best way to use Sun Web Server connection pooling with Web Application?

    I have a number of applications that run Oracle and MySQL queries via Sun Web Server 6.1. I use the Web Server's built-in connection pooling, which works fairly well.
    As an interface with the connections I receive from the Web Server, I use a class, which (1) accepts the SQL and database name from a tool, (2) Opens the connection, runs the SQL, closes the connection, (3) puts the content of the result set into a Vector of Hashtables, (4) returns that Vector to the tool.
    Why do I use this Vector? That way, in my applications, I don't have to deal with opening connections (or getting them from the pool) and I don't have to worry about closing connections, because that's done automatically by the interface class.
    Is this a dumb approach to use? I'm a bit paranoid about open DB connections, because we have had a number of problems where connections would not be closed, go stale in oracle, and clog up the database resources.
    Can you suggest a better way to (1) smartly control opening and closing connections, and (2) enabling fast database access?
    Sorry, but given this Java/Sun Web Server double topic, I'm going to post the same message on the Web Server board.
    Any tips?

    P.S. For instance, in my tool, I call the interface class in this manner:
    Vector results_v = Database.getSelect("SELECT * FROM TEST","database1");
    getSelect uses the first string as the SQL and the second string as the jndi name of the Web server's database resource. getSelect does all the context stuff to get a connection from the pool, runs the SQL, puts the resultset into a Vector of Hastables (where each row is one Hashtable), and returns the Vector.

  • How to set up a FTP and web server and integrate with DMM 5.2

    Hi All ...
    I need to set up a external server only for content publishing to reduce the overhead of the DMM server .
    can anyone guide me on how to set up the external server and intergrate it with the DMM 5.2
    Thanks

    semuthu,
    Notes from the Release Notes:
    Compatibility Limitations with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
    DMPs that use firmware release 5.2 are compatible with only one version of Microsoft Internet Information Server.
    That supported version is IIS 6.0 for Windows 2003 Enterprise. If you do not have the supported IIS version but
    want your DMPs to retrieve assets from a webserver, we recommend that you use Apache instead of IIS.
    I would suggest using Apache instead of IIS for the webserver service. IIS can be used as FTP if needed.
    There are plenty of Documents on the Web about setting up Apache and FTP for servers.
    Using Apache with Microsoft Windows
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/platform/windows.html
    Quick HOWTO : Ch20 : The Apache Web Server
    http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/wiki/index.php/Quick_HOWTO_:_Ch20_:_The_Apache_Web_Server
    Once the Webserver is setup and operational. You simply store your media content on the Webserver
    and then have your DMS assets in the media library use an external URL address for its location.
    If you want to use external server for other features in the DMM, you can can see how to configure
    here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_1/dmm/user/guide/dsm+etv.html#wp1073210

    Hi,
    What edition of Win 2K are you using (Pro/Server/Ad Server). The problem could be your DNS settings only.Ensure which machine is your DNS Server is running,is it on NT? if so change it to win 2K server.
    Delete your LDAP machines A record from DNS server and add it again. This will solve your problem.

    I know this type of question has been posted a few times, but I couldnt locate any clear answer.
    Can we have Sun One WS 6.1 use MS Active Dir as its source of users and groups? I am trying to configure this using the standard base DN and bind DN params, but I get an error saying "could not connect using the binddn and password you provided". I know the bind dn and the password I provided are correct.
    Another colleague of mine who tried the same thing was able to connect, but when he tried to navigate to the users and groups page, he got an error saying "Error trying to connect to the LDAP".
    Anyone who has tried this before, what does it take to get the SUN ONE WS to talk to AD? Can this be done at all?
