Web Server Switch

Hello,
I selected the CF internal web server during install (IIS was
not available.) I managed to get through it and the install
succeeded. Now I used the web server config tool to switch to IIS
(now it's available.) My websites now don't come up. I'm pretty
sure it's a security/directory issue but I can't figure out where
the problem is.
Adobe support is non-existent if you don't have $500 to ask a
question.
Thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean by market economy but if you mean
capitalism then of course. Any economist will tell you that a
client wants value for his money. By denying me real tech support
even before the product was installed they are pushing away a loyal
client and possibly failing to make a new one. Hardly good
economics if you ask me. Further, it hurts all of us if ColdFusion
loses market share because it's harder to form communities and sell
our services to clients.
Ken did provide me phone support after I kicked and screamed
and he was instrumental in helping me with the installation. We
were able to solve the issue(s) within a couple of hours rather
than the three days it had taken me up to then. Those three days
were torturous trying to figure out what was wrong with the
install. Also, although we did get the install completed and set
up, Ken is being modest. I doubt I could have completed the set up
without his support on the phone. It was not simply a security
issue.
Adobe really needs to rethink the way they're doing support.
Of course I am one single exaple, but in my case a few minutes on
the phone at the onset of this problem would have saved everyone
much time and effort.
We have other server software that perform other tasks such
as Imail from Ipswitch that the way they work it is with annual
contracts. You buy a contract and get the software and support for
a year. If the following year you don't want to upgrade the
software and don't need support then you don't pay.
Adobe is selling the software as is. You want it fixed (is it
a bug in the Adobe product or you?), you have to pay. And I know
they have "free" installation email support. In my case they
emailed me to check the instructions first and then when I
complained they emailed me to call them to do it over the phone.
When I called they said: Yes, we can do it over the phone but you
have to pay.

    Hi Peter,
I had the same problem and I didn't find any other solution than change the
display mode to 256 color mode.

  • How do you switch between web server snapshot jpg and png modes?

I read in another forum a posting by "NathanK" stating:
"The snapshot feature of the web server can
generate images either as png or jpg. In LabVIEW 8.6 and later, the
default which is generated by the web publishing tool is the png
format. In this mode everything happens in memory so there is no
    snapshot image file generated.
In the jpg mode there is a
temporary file, however it is not always the same file and the file is
deleted after it is uploaded to the client. I would not recommend
    trying to use this programmatically.
    If you need more
control over a snapshot of a front panel (and you are using 8.6), I
would recommend making a custom web service that takes a picture of a
VI's front panel and returns it to the client. Then you would have
    control over the image."
I am currently using the web publishing tool snapshot feature with an EXE program written in LV8.6.  However, each time a browser accesses the html file, the EXE file's memory grows by 72KB (this happens with my custom EXE program and with LabVIEW.exe when running the VI in development mode).  I'm assuming this is the png that is generated each time a snapshot is taken, but the program never de-allocated the memory and the program eventually crashes.  I'm aslo assuming that if I switch to "JPG mode", the web server will generate a temporary file and eventually delete it, elminating the memory leak.  The problem is, I don't know how to change the modes from png (default) to jpg.

I am and have been using the .snap function on many applications since LabVIEW 6.1.  It's very simple, easy to use, does exactly what I want it to do, and is still in the documentation of LabVIEW 8.6, 2009 and 2009 SP1 as being supported.
If I am not mistaken, don't you need to have the LabVIEW runtime engine on the target system to use embedded mode?  I don't want to have to try and keep everybody who wants to see a screenshot of my program to have to have a run-time engine installed.  For one reason, I don't know everybody who wants to monitor our system and they literally can be anywhere in the world if the VPN to our network.  Second, those who I do know would would have me install it for them.  Third, why go "backwards" in capability...everybody would ask me "Why do we have to do this now?..we never had to do it before", and I don't want to use my time/energy at work to explain why NI cannot fix a memory leak that has been identified in at least the last 3 versions of LabVIEW and is still not fixed.
I had been using either LV 6.1 or 7.1 for a good part of 10 years and had very few problems with them (BTW, DAQmx is the greatest thing every put on a computer EVER).  I finally make the transitioin and start using LV 8.6 on a major test platform last year, got to the very end of it and find this out.  <sigh!>
It is funny (maybe not), but my work around feels like I just changed the floormats in my Toyota car to keep it from "crashing".
However, if I am mistaken and you do NOT need to use LV runtime engine for embedded mode, ignore everything I wrote above and please let me know that this is the case and I will look into it.

  • Web Server 7 - Switch to SSL - Automatic forwarding from non-SSL

I just posted a similar question regarding Web server 6. This question is for Web server 7!
I maintain Web tools on a non-SSL Web Server 7. I need to turn on SSL, because our organization requires the security feature for certain functions in the tool.
The current non-SSL address for the tool is similar to http://mytool.com/. I want to make the switch to SSL transparent for users, so I want http://mytool.com/ to automatically forward to https://mytool.com. What is the best way to do that in Web server 7?
Also, I'd like to make the changes without using the GUI, what are the XML commands for the server.xml file (I assume that's what I'll need to change, right?)
    Sincerely,
    dailysun
THIS IS FOR WEB SERVER 7

    Hi
Assuming you have figured out the way to setup a listener with SSL enabled, you can the following
    1. find out what object file is currently used by server
    bin/wadm get-virtual-server-prop user=admin config=<hostname> object-file
this will either return as obj.conf or <vs>-obj.conf
    2. now open this file and add the following lines after <Object name="default" line
    <Object name="default">
    #add the following lines
    <Client match="all" security="false" urlhost="mytool.com">
    NameTrans fn="redirect" from="/" url-prefix="https://mytool.com"
    NameTrans fn="redirect" from="/*" url-prefix="https://mytool.com/"
    </Client>
    # end
now save this file and test to see if this is what you are expecting.
if you are satisfied, you will need to bring over this manual change into admin config repository by doing something like
    bin/wadm pull-config user=admin  config=<..>
You can also save the commonly used parameter like <user> and <password> within the .wadmrc file. Please see - http://blogs.sun.com/natarajan/date/20070131
    hope this helps

  • Reboot just the web server for SRW224G4 switch

    Hello all,
I just bought Linksys SRW224G4 switch for office usage.
Upon programming the switch through the web interface using IE7 suddently the web interface froze.
So I just closed IE and try to get back to the web interface but with no luck. Its like the pages no longer there.
After an extensive search in this forum, the only remedy at this time is to hard reboot the switch and the web interface is working again.
My question is: is there a way to just SSH/Telnet/Console into the switch and restart just the web server instead of rebooting the entire switch ?
If there is no way at present, maybe this can be made available for the next firmware release ?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Hi.  I know that restarting just the web user interface alone is not an option for the switch.  However, its not normal for the web user interface to freeze up.  Maybe you should try using IE6.

  • Web gallery upload problem - the server switched to FTPS and now Bridge CS6 won't recognize it.

I use Bridge CS6 on a Mac to create & upload web galleries directly to my website. My web server just changed and they no longer support FTP, only FTPS. When I try to upload a web gallery now, Bridge gives me the message that my username/password is incorrect. I have tested the server and can connect via Fetch so I know that it's possible to connect to the server. Is there anywhere in Bridge that allows you to change the FTP settings to allow it to recognize the FTPS? I cannot seem to find any information, I feel like there should be a simple fix and I'm probably overlooking it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Bridge is not a seperate program.  It is part of Photoshop.  That is why some users have to  launch Bridge the first time from PS to make it work.
Not familliar with the Suite, but if there are other applications where you can launch Bridge from the program try it.
Also, make sure you have uninstalled any Adobe trials that may cause a conflict with permissions.

  • NI Application Web Server refuses to be enabled

I'm trying to deploy a web service made in LabVIEW 2010 and it fails to deploy saying that the NI Application Web service is not running....
So I connect to http://localhost:3580, login as Admin (blank password) and click the web servers page. There I set the port of the Application Web Server to 8080, click the enable checkbox...and hit the apply button - and the only thing that happens is that the browser shows the Error on page symbol in its status bar....There is no "Yes" showing next to the Enable checkbox like for the system web server...
So - if I start from scratch again and do the same, but also click the 32 bit radio button prior to hitting the apply button - what happens? Well, then I get an error dialog:
The service itself (32bit, the 64 bit is listed but not as started) is running according to the services control panel...
I'm stuck....So do anyone know what's missing here, is there something I'm doing wrong, or something that needs to be done prior to activating the application service?
    MTO
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Uninstalling and reinstalling 32 bit LabVIEW 2010 on two different machines revealed that the problem only showed up on my 64 bit Vista macine - not the 32 bit Windows 7 macine...
Looking at the services running on the machine with the problem I could see that it was running the 32 bit version of the Web application server, had a 64 bit installed but set to disabled....- but - only the latter was set to depend on the NI Web server service. This looked a bit strange as the 32 bit version on the 32 bit machine was dependant on the NI Web Server....
So - I disabled the 32 bit NI Web Application server service, enabled the 64 bit...and voila - I am now able to configure the Web Application Server to start.
So why is both the 32 and 64 bit Web application services installed, with only the 32 bit one running - but not properly? Is this what happens to everyone, but everyone fixes it by switching to the 64 bit version...or is there something that causes the installation to get messed up?

  • Time Capsule disconnects internet when using web server through port forwarding

My current config is: 2TB Time Capsule running 7.6.3, Mac Pro running Lion (10.7.5), MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion (10.8.3), and a couple of MacBook Pro Retinas running Mountain Lion. My current ISP is Comcast.
I have the Time Capsule set up to port forward port 80 to the Mac Pro for the purpose of running a web server. Most of the traffic is shuttling fairly large m4v files back and forth to work (work product from video editing work). I can reach the webserver on the Mac Pro just fine from the outside world, and can list files in the directory just fine. When I initiate a download (via right click on a link, "Save As..." or whatever), the Time Capsule reports that the Internet has been disconnected, and all machines inside my network lose access to the outside world. I have to either power cycle the Time Capsule, or disconnect/reconnect the Cat-6 cable between the cable modem and the Time Capsule to re-establish the connection. Interestingly, the download continues and completes on the other end without issue (so, the connection is actually still there!).
Before switching to Comcast, I was on AT&T Uverse - Uverse includes a router, so I had the TIme Capsule set up in Bridge Mode. That worked fine. I also have an older 500GB 1st generation Time Capsule. I set it up with the same config as my 2TB TC, and it shows the exact same behavior - internet disconnects upon initiating a file download through a forwarded port. I then hooked the Mac Pro up directly to the cable modem. I can initiate a download without issue, and I continue to stay connected to the Internet without problem. Called Comcast anyway - they report no errors on the line, but reset the whole device chain anyway. No change in behaviors.
I tried downgrading the Time Capsule software to 7.6.2 (the earliest version that came on it). No dice, same behavior.
So... I called Apple. Complete and utter FAIL. Apple Support reports that they have no training in the port forwarding features of the Time Capule or Airport products, and cannot help me resolve the issue because of that. So, I have a $300 router that apparently cannot perform a simple routing function (download through a forwarded port), that I cannot troubleshoot (because Airport software v7 is an epic fail in that regard), made by a company who cannot support it - and everything this $300 device is doing can be done by a $50 device with a $100 external hard drive?
Do I understand this situation correctly? What have I missed in trying to troubleshoot this thing?

Excellent summary.. I think you have covered all the salient points most thoroughly.
Port forwarding on the TC I would put into the category of "epic fail"
I have a nasty feeling it just doesn't work in many cases. Clearly from your situation the port is forwarded correctly.. it is the actual download that is causing the device to crash.. which is probably not the port forwarding itself that is at fault but rather the external link and opening another port for the download to happen.
Many of the issues were caused by using icloud and btmm.. which would work a lot better btw. Although the hassle there is needing to offer that as a service to any Tom Dick or Harry.
Let me suggest a work around or other things to try.
I also have an older 500GB 1st generation Time Capsule. I set it up with the same config as my 2TB TC, and it shows the exact same behavior - internet disconnects upon initiating a file download through a forwarded port.
Use 5.6 utility.. more info below. And take the firmware of this unit (Gen1) back to 7.5.2 (before icloud mess ups in 7.6).
You can go back to 7.5 firmware also in Gen4 TC if it is more than about 14months old.. Simply hold down the option key when you select firmware and the old versions will show up. If your TC came with 7.6.1 (the 7.6.2 was withdrawn as it was even bigger failure than 7.6.3). then you cannot go back.
You might also find downloading via http is not as reliable as using FTP.. FTP is a better and more efficient protocol. It should be no problem to setup ftp server on the mac pro to allow download via ftp even with a browser.
But in the end.. your $50 router suggestion.. well perhaps a little more than that.. $80-100 will work very well.. also this router can be setup with a Hard Disk and offer the files to the internet via FTP.. without needing full network access to your internal network.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 (now 6.2 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

  • How can I make the web server work on port 80 and not 443. I can only access my website using https.

On a Mac Mini server with OS X Lion 10.7.2, I am unalbe to get the web server working on port 80. It switches automatically to port 443 (https).
This situation complicates the access to FileMaker Web publishing, as I don't want my clients having to use https.
How can I change that? Does anyone know?
    Thanks for any reply

in the server: I checked the SSL certificate. Tried several configuration.
    Well, that's a problem for a start.
Your port 80 connection should NOT use SSL. Port 80 is the standard HTTP port, not HTTPS and most applications that connect to port 80 will not expect to use SSL
If you want to run a site under both HTTP and HTTPS then you create two sites, one on port 80 without SSL and one on port 443 with SSL

  • HP LaserJet Professional P1606dn Embedded Web Server Admin Settings

    Hello,
I need help with my HP Laserjet Professional p1606dn. We have about 13 of these machines
I can access the HP Embedded Web Server by putting in the IP address into a web browser.
I have all of the printers set with a static IP address.
I have set a password in the HP Embedded Web server so network information can not be changed.
My problem is  the Print Info Pages section.
Where i can just click Print to print a Print Configuration Page and Print Supplies page.
I want to disable that feature.
I have students getting into the Hp Embedded Web Server and are repeatedly hitting the print button and I'm getting hundreds of Print Configuration Page and or Print Supplies page.
You do not need a password to use this functionality.
I want to have these printers setup that if they do not know the Admin password to get into the Web Server they can not use any of the Web Server functions.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Your usb connection may have gone bad.  Try another usb port on the computer.  Just connecting the printer to a different usb port should say new hardware found.  If it does not then the port on the printer has gone bad.  All is not lost.  This model is the N model which means it also has a network interface.  You could try connecting the printer to your router or switch with a rj45 cable and after turning the printer on and it comes to ready, wait about 2 minutes and then print the same test page which should give you the network settings if it found any.  Use those settings to setup the printer as a local tcp/ip printer.

  • Error message when deploying war file to sun web server 6.1

i've been trying to deploy an application developed locally in tomcat to a local install of sun web server 6.1, and can't seem to get it to work. the error message i am getting now is:

but that is the only error showing up. i've found some other forum topics involving memory issues (not the case here) and mime.type issues (not the case here), but nothing where this is the only error message showing up.

  • Oracle 8 on Linux, web server access

I've installed Oracle 8.0.5 on Linux and would like to know the
best way to access it using CGI. I have a reasonable knowledge
of C and would prefer not to have to switch to Java/JDBC. Do I
have to use Pro*C? Where can I learn more about CGI scripts and
Oracle? Should I save myself some time and use Perl or Java?
If the Linux box hosting the Oracle database is on a seperate
server from the web server (say, Apache), does this mean I have
    to use Net8?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Im embarking on such a project currently at work - however the
oracle 8 database is running on the same machine as the
webserver apache1.3.6, I recommend looing at PHP which is a Pre-
Processor module for Apache which can connect to and pass any
sql commands to your oracle database and have the data returned -
the php code is just inserted into the html and preprocessed so
that the <?php .... ?> tags are replaced with the returned data
before the pages are served. This is an simple solution that as
far as i can see has no limitations and requires learning only
PHP which is very simple. As for the oracle database being on a
different machine you have to look into it but i doubt it would
be much of a problem. check PHP at www.php.net
    hope this helps

I typed in the IPv6 address of the printer in the address feild of firefox.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />

  • Sslext NOt working Sun ONE Web Server 6.0?

    Hi,
I have implemented the sslext tag for dynamic switching of http to https.
I am using ATG Dynamo Server ONLY in the Development Env. (using the default Web Server of ATG) for testing this and sslext tag works fine using the Plug-In of struts which is in sslext.jar.
but in producation the ATG Dynamo Server 6.0 is configured with Sun ONE Web Server 6.0, as forwarding request throught the Web Server to the App Server.
But here sslext stop working?? any guss why?
Sun ONE Server 6.0 is configured with ATG Dynamo Server 6.0 as Connection Module.
There are three ways a Connection Module can handle requests for files whose MIME type is text/html.
1)You can choose to have the files served by the Sun ONE Web Server,
    2)by the Dynamo server,
3)or by the Sun ONE Web Server (but also send requests to Dynamo for logging).
    we select the 3rd option.
any Guess why this is happening???
    regards
    DJ

Since removing the log settings from magnus.conf failed to fix the problem, the log settings are probably not the source of the problem.
Did anything else - e.g. ColdFusion configuration changes - occur at about the same time you changed the log settings?
