Web Services with a Site minder protected Environment
Hi All,
I am not sure this is the right group to post this, if not let me know what is the best group or forum to post this.
I am having a problem with invocation of web services which are protected by a site minder SSO. I am trying to access them from the same site minder protected environment.
But I am not able to invoke them.
Please let me know what is the better way to invoke them and is there a way or not? In general if a web services is protected by any kind of SSO then how do we invoke the protected web service?
Thanks
Vasu
If a webservice is protected by a SSO, I don't think you can bypass it without authentication. Coming to Site Minder it should expose the authentication functionality as another web service, so that you go through the SM service first and then to the original webservice. Given that we have been authenticated in the 1st call, SM should allow you in to the 2nd call.
We also have SM in our environment and use one such authentication service for login.
You can check with your SM team for this and accordingly proceed.
Thanks,
Patrick

Protecting a REST web service with Policy Agent
I have deployed a REST web service in Glassfish using Jersey Annotations. A UI in the same Glassfish instance is protected by a policy agent that forces users through a login page. I would like to protect the REST web service with BASIC Authentication using the same policy agent. Is this possible? Is there supporting documentation?
Hi Daniel,
When you publish a message through Rest, hope your Restful service will receive/process the posted message?
So
YourBizTalk -->(Post Message to)-->RestFulService
From the error message, "the published message could not be routed because no subscribers were found.", it seems like the this Restful service is a
wrapper (or service interface) for BizTalk at client end( where message has been posted thru Rest) and actual posted message is “processed” by BizTalk and the error "" is from BizTalk "after" Rest. This message says the message you posted
through rest is not found subscription at their end.
So
YourBizTalk -->(Post Message to)-->RestFulService -->Clients'BizTalk.
Here problem is at Clients'BizTalk as shown where the posted message to their BizTalk is not processed because no subscription has been found.
If this answers your question please mark it accordingly. If this post is helpful, please vote as helpful by clicking the upward arrow mark next to my reply. -
Web Services with REST, SOAP and JAX-RPC
Hi,
Can somebody who has developed web services extensively comment/suggest a java development environment that works best for developing web services mainly with REST. I've found that Eclipse with Axis2 and Tomcat works well. But I would like to get your opinion on it and some other alternatives.Hi,
Please help me its urgent.
can u give me a detail example how to do Web services
with REST.
Here is my id [email protected]
Thanks in advance.You can do this in many ways. It depends on how heavy your service is. You can write a simple servlet that will take a REST (I'm assuming you know what REST is) request and parses it out, calls a server-side method and generates a REST response.
Another way is to use a web-service container such as AXIS. You can read some examples and documentation on their website. AXIS2 has REST support as well. -
How to create web services with complex objects as parameters
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place, but...
I'm using Netbeans 5.5 and trying to learn web services.
Creating a simple web service with simple parameters like strings and integers is nice and easy. I'm now trying to take the next step, and create a web service with a more complex schema as a parameter.
I've tried two approaches, and hit dead ends on both:
(1) Define my complex schema as an xsd file, and then create a WSDL file. Creating the schema and saving it in my EFB project works fine; when I try to create a new WSDL file, the IDE gives me a button to import external schemas - which is where the problem is: the Browse simply won't find my newly created schema file.
(2) Define a Java class (in this case, it's a fairly simple example containing a single ArrayList), and then use the IDE to generate a web service from Java. The IDE does this fine, but I now have no idea how to consume or test the web service - I don't know where to look for the WSDL that has presumably been generated, and I'm also a bit iffy over what answers to give the WSDL creator about port names etc.
Ideally, I'd prefer to get approach 1 to work - can someone point me in the direction of a sensible tutorial for these things?
(Happy to carry on using Netbeans 5.5 or to revert to Sun Studio Enterprise, which I was playing with before.)
All help appreciated, Thanks- For NetBeans related questions, nbusers mailing list is more suited. It is often visited by NetBeans experts.

- SJSE 8.1 is based on an older version of NB (NB5.0).
You should definitely continue with NetBeans, since all development is now being done in NetBeans; all the major JSE modules have been moved to opensource at netbeans.org and are all being developed there. There are as yet no future plans to work on further releases for JSE.

Consuming and Providing Web Service with JD Edwards ERP system
Hi,
I would like to create web services with c++ or java OR any other easier way .
I need to use that web services to use in Share point to interact with JD Edwards ERP system .
Pls Note : Since not having license for JD Edwards, I need to create and call from Sharepoint Web service to JD edwards.
and not from JD edwards web service.
Could anybody guide me in this.
Thanks in advance.I had this error again so I thought I would post my solution:
The issue is SAP needs to know the certificates being used by the web site being called. These certificates are automatically installed in your browser but need to be manually installed in SAP. This is what I did:
How to find/install new certificates
Make sure you run Internet Explorer as an Administrator so you can export the certificates
Go to the web site that SAP is trying to call in Internet Explorer
Double click on the lock in the address bar
View certificates
Find the certificates that are being used
Tools --> Internet Options --> Content --> Certificates
Click on the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” tab
Find the certificate identified in step iii
Export as a CER certificate
Click on the “Intermediate Certification Authorities” tab
Find the certificate identified in step iii
Export as a CER certificate
Go to STRUST in SAP
Import the Certificates in the “Anonymous” or “Standard” SSL client
Save
RESTART the ICM via t-code SMICM <-- Critical!!!

Dear All,
I'm new to java web service. Can anyone guide me on how to setup the environment to start developing my web service?
I need to create a web service with login function. What client is more easy for me to call login service?You can download Java Web Services Developer Pack 1.3 and tutorial at http://java.sun.com/webservices.
The Java Web Services Developer Pack (Java WSDP) is a free integrated toolkit you can use to build, test and deploy XML applications, Web services, and Web applications with the latest Web service technologies and standards implementations. The tutorial has numerous code examples to get you started on develop, deploy and invoke your own web service using JAX-RPC. You can use the environment provided by tutorial to start developing your web service.

How to create document/literal web services with WLS7
How do you create document/literal web services with WLS7 ( not workshop)
- Is it possible with servicegen and stateless EJBs as the backend component?
The default is RPC/Soap-encoded is there anyway to craft the web-services.xml
to make it document/literal
- Is it possible with the JMS-implemented web services - have not tried this yet
- Is there another mechanism?That would be the <web-service> element in the web-services.xml file, of course.

Hi Rich,
Try adding a style="document" attribute to the starting <web-service>
element.
The might be a way to get <servicegen> to do this for you, but I haven't
found
it yet :-)

Building client proxies for web services with SOAP attachemtns
Hi all.
I'm currently building a series of web services that take SOAP attachments as
input, but I am unable to generate the java proxies for testing the services via
WebLogic Workshop 8.1. When I attempt to build the proxy, I get the following
error:
Warning: Failed to generate client proxy from WSDL definition for this service.
Suggestion: Please verify the <types> section of the WSDL.
Is there something I need to alter to get this to work, or does workshop not support
client proxies for web services with DataHandler parameters?
Thanks.

may have been a long time till I realized that.

Thanks Brian,
The problem is that you are trying to use the "document" soap-style :-)
If you change this to "rpc", you'll should be able to successfully generate
the
client proxy jar. The soap-style property, is at the bottom of the "protocol"
property sheet section, for the JWS.

Problem with RESTful web service with header value
Hi,
I am on Apex 4.2.2 and Listener 2.1 and the listener is on WEblogic.
I succeeded to get a RESTful web service working in an application with no header to obtain a full set of data. The data set is very large, so I am now just trying to set up a web service to get a set of data based on a student ID.
I followed the examples shown in the RESTful web service module of SQL Workshop and set up a handler of this type:
https://ourweblogicserver/apex/bnr/ace/students/course_grades/{stid}
The test for this handler succeeded both for JSON output and CSV output in the Workshop test environment.
However, when I try it from a Web Service Reference that I created for my application following what looked like the same approach used on the example video, I get NO data back. If I put a 'stid' directly into a URL of a web browser and do the basic authentication I get the data!!
This is what I have for the Web service reference:
https://ourweblogicserver/apex/bnr/ace/students/course_grades/{stid}
Basic auth set to Yes -- and this is working -- I am able to authenticate
HTTP method Get
output format Text
no response Xpath
no response namespace
defaults for new record and parameter delimiter
NO REST input parameters
Output set for all the fields in the data set queried (same set of data as in my rest service which does not have any http header)
REST HTTP Header : Name stid
I there something I am missing. I am not sure how to troubleshoot this further.
PatHi,
I have posted a simple application with the RESTful reference:
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=13758
I can give you full privileges on this so you can look at the WEB service reference. Shall I send to you separately for login user?
It is using the RESTful service: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/nd_pat_miller/demo/employee/{deptno}
This RESTful service tests fine when I test from within the RESTful web service module of the Workspace.
I based this on the Video demo tutorial for RESTful web service that Oracle published for 4.2 release. The video seemed to exclude the {deptno} in the URL but when I try that, it doesn't work either.
This is the error I am getting when I run this on my Apex environment: (it, of course, will not run the web service in the apex.oracle.com environment)

Cheers!Hi Alain,
I just checked on a newer NW environment (NW 7.2) and was presented an empty list as well... It seems the mapping procedure I described is deprecated since NW 7.11, and the modeled CAF application service is already exposed as a web service.

Issue with OSI PI WCF Web Service with wshttpbinding
Hi Experts,
System Details:
SAP MII 14 SP4
OSI PI Web Service: PITimeSeries
I am having issue when trying to call OSI PI web service using http post. it is returning status 0 when i am using exception handler in BLS.
Same web service works fine with basichttpbinding (SOAP 1.1) but with wshttpbinding (SOAP 1.2) it is giving error.
Following are Web config binding details for web service.
<wsHttpBinding>
<binding name="wsBinding_2011" sendTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" transactionFlow="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="true" allowCookies="false">
<reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="false" />
<security mode="Message">
<message clientCredentialType="Windows" negotiateServiceCredential="true" algorithmSuite="Default" establishSecurityContext="true" />
</security>
</binding>
</wsHttpBinding>
I am not sure it could be the issue with passing windows credentials.
Did anybody consumed WCF web service with wshttpbinding with security mode as Message and clientCredentialType as Windows.
Also i was trying to pass MYSAPSSO2 SSO token to service in http post but first i am not sure if this is correct windows token and second which header property of service should be mapped and i am not sure that I am going into correct direction or not.
Please let me know what i am missing.
I have tried following other options and tools:
SOAP UI: basichttpbinding works fine for wshttpbinding receiving Internal Server error in log and Response as
The security context token is expired or is not valid.
MII Web Service Action Block: basichttpbinding works fine for wshttpbinding not able to configure url through wizard because as per my discussion with other MII experts MII does not support SOAP1.2. that is one reason for using http post.
WCF Storm: both bindings works fine (There is option to select windows authentication and Impersonation level as delegation)
WCF Test Client: Both bindings works fine
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Manoj BilthareHi Sam,
The web service is valid following are details of testing on various tools.

Calling a web service deployed in a SSO protected domain
Hello,
I want to write a web service based on a stateless session EJB and to deploy it as part of an application on an OC4J server. The application is protected by SSO.
My question is: how should I write a client stub for that web service? How are the name and the password provided in the client stub in order to call web service (that will be also protected as part of the protected application)?
Regards,
MarinelDitto. I get the feeling that no reply to your message must mean that OC4J doesn't support this.
An even simpler scenario is getting an Applet client to connect to an EJB without having to provide the username and password from the Applet. Otherwise, we are forced to ask the user to login for every applet or we embed the user/pass in applet params. Both are unacceptable.
Any ideas. -
Calling Web Service with SOAP header from BPEL

Hey guys,
I am quite new in using BPEL. My first test worked fine, but know I have an issue, which I can not solve. Invoking web services with a basic return value is no problem. I could also you a dto object including some basic variables in order to invoke the web service without having problems.
But when I have a dto object as return value, I get the following exception.
Could someone give me a hint to fix my problem...that would be great!
Thanks alot!
