Web Site Conversion

Is there any way to convert an existing web site into a MUSE site without completely rebuilding the site in MUSE?

Not at this time, you cannot import HTML pages into Muse for them to load in Design mode. A site needs to be created in Muse to be able to edit it through Muse.

  • Best conversion for the web site

    Hi Folks
I made a Video with my HD camera and made a nice movie in iMovie HD 6 in 1080i-30. what is the best conversion to view it on my web site. I have tried a few of the settings but none thrill me. all either too small or too square. What are the best settings for wide screen conversion for the web?
    Thanks
    Don

    hey everyone
just wanted to say thanks, I have been working on my 1st iMovie project and had a few questions and everyone here was great
I finished my 1st iMovie project yesterday and posted it to the web site today
    http://www.pspartyband.com/Live%20Video%20Clips.html
I just bought the Cannon HV20 camera on Monday 5/7/07 and shot this Video on Tuesday night 5/8/07. I have never owned a Video camera before and true to the advertisement the canon was just point and shoot and I got pretty decent Video. We passed the camera around to everyone in the band so that everyone could shoot a little and everyone could be in the video. next time I think i'll bring a friend to shoot so we can just play.
I had no problem at all importing the video from the HV20 into iMovie as some here have been experiencing. I thought iMovie was very easy to use and since I am used to working in Logic Pro I know to hit save every couple of edits, just in case of a crash, which it did a couple of times
anyway thanks again and let me know what you think of my video

  • Errors on my web site started with Flash Player Release a few days ago (Mar 28, 2012)

    Hi,
I have a Flash based video player on my website.  This was designed and implemented based on an article vy Lisa Larson-Kelley.  It has run flawlessly for several years.  But, when I installed the lastest release of Flash Player a fedw days ago (Mar 28, 2012), I am now getting really annoying issues with the Flash Video Player.
I expect that I will need to place insturctions for users on how to roll back their version of Flash Player, since this latest version is broken.
But, many of the people who visit my site are not tech oriented (they are mostly friends and family, so, I don't expect that they will really roll back their version of Flash player.
I am 100% certain the issue is the latest version of Flash, since these errors never occurred until I installed the latest version.
On my work laptop, I have an older version of Flas (10.x.x) and this probelm does not happen.  On my desktop PC at home, I have an older version of Flash 11 installed, and this problem does not happen (in IE9).  The version of Flash PLayer 11 where the issue does *not* occur is 11.1.102.63.
On that same desktop PC, if I use Chrome, (which automatically defaults to the latest version of Flash which is 11.2.202.228, I get the problems.  So, there is no question that the issue is with the latest version of Flash and not my hardware or drivers.  I get the same problems on three different computers.
My website has a username and password.  If someone from Adobe wants to replicate the problem send me an e-mail and I will send you the username and password.
The videoplayer on my website is at this url:  http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingFlashVidPlayer/VideoPlaylist.html (but, you will need the username and password).
The issue is that sometimes (not always) when you select a video to play, inistead of the video loading into the panel as it should (sized as 1025 x 578), instead, all you see is the control skin.  The video begins to play, but all you get is the audio.  It looks like this:
You can recover from this error by using the skin control to make the image full screen, but, the video looks poor at fulls screen, because it is created at 1024 x 578.  You can then get the correct size by returning from full screen, but, I don't want the pepole who visit my cif\deo playet to have to go all through that.  Especially since most won't even know enough to try making the video full screen.
This doesn't happen for every video on my web site, but, once it *does* happen once...it will happen for every video selection you make.
This is unacceptable, and it absolutely a function of Flash version 11.2.202.228.
Adobe:  Please fix this bug as soon as possible.
I've implemented an HTML5 based video player and have begun populating it with mp4 versions of my video clips, but, quite honestly, the playback using HTML5 is much worse than with Flash.  I encoded the clips in the HTML5 player with the same Variable Bit Rates as in the F4V clips, and, in the HTML5 player, there are missed frames, and the audio can get out of sync.  So, I *want* to keep using my Flash Based video player, but...if Adobe doesn;t fix this, I will just dial down my VBR till I find one that is slow enough to play in HTML5 and ditch Flash.
My HTML5 video player is here:
    http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingNewVideoPlayer/NewVidPlayer_option1_jth.html
(again you need the username and password to use it, send me an e-mail and I will give them to you, I just don't want to post them in an open forum).
Here is a bitmap of the page:  It is quite snazzy looking and is based on an excellent class from Chris Converse at Lynda.com.  But, even though it is 'snazzy looking' the HTML5 player performs poorly on an under-powered machine (like my work laptop).  It uses 100% CPU and misses frames and the audio loses sync.  The same videos encoded with the same VBR for Flash (F4V) play great, *except for the new issue described above!!!!)
I Adobe can fix this issue with Flash Player 11.2.202.228  ASAP, else, I will  have to 'downgrade' to an HTML5 based video player, that, quite honestly does not perform as well as Flash.
If you want to reproduce the problem contact me at my e-mail address: [email protected] and I'll send you the username and password.
You can then prove that the problem does not exist with prior version of Flash player (before 11.2.202.228) but *does* exist with this latest buggy release.
    Thanks,
    John

    Thanks.
I sent the username and PW to you and Chris.
    Cheers,
    John

  • Edit Color Sync for Exports for Web Sites

    Hi,
Perhaps this has been covered, but I've not found the thread. Most of the export color sync questions seem to revolve around printing or displaying on one's own monitor. Neither is an issue for me. However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out. Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB. I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile; however, my default EXIF - Expanded shows "Color Model" as simply "RGB", and "Profile Name" is Adobe RGB (1998) (my Canon 50D is set to sRGB). Again, I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors. Where/how can I change the export for uploading jpg's to the web.
    Thanks,
    Nick

I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile
If the profile were proprietary, it would be an illegal profile under the ICC Specification.
However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out.
If you did not disable embedding of an ICC source colour space in Aperture, if you did not use a non-ICC enabled browser, the OS X system level services will set up a ColorWorld and convert the pixels in your JPEGs matching from the ICC source colour space to the ICC destination colour space of your display. Thus you will get what you uploaded in the first place.
I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors.
The idea is that each and every colour device is calibrated and that calibration is captured in a colourimetric colour characterisation from which an ICC colour device profile is computed. Colourants that form certain colours one one colour device at one calibration will form other colours in the same colour device at another calibration and in other colour devices at yet other calibrations. By means of device profiles, the COLOURS can be kept constant while the COLOURANTS are recomputed to compel the device to paint the closest possible match it is capable of.
Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB.
The issue is whether people who post pictures do or do not embed ICC source colour spaces into their pictures and whether they pick browsers that are ICC-enabled or pick colour blind browsers.
To determine if there is an embedded ICC source colour space in a picture, download the picture to disk, open iApple Preview and select Tools > Get Info > Summary.
Colour Model: This defines the format or model of the colourants, e.g. three component RGB, four component CMYK.
ColorSync Profile: This defines the ICC source colour space. If there is none in the image file, the system level service assigns the Generic RGB Profile for model RGB, the Generic CMYK Profile for model CMYK and so forth. Therefore, any ICC source colour space than a Generic Profile source colour space is embedded in the image file itself.
In technical terms, the rule is that to construct a ColourWorld that does a colour space conversion through the PCS Profile Connection Space, you have to have an ICC source colour space and an ICC destination colour space (typically your display profile). It follows that the system level service ASSIGNS an ICC source colour space automatically where is none embedded. The ICC source colour space that is assigned when there is none embedded is the Generic RGB Profile for colourant model RGB, as explained.

  • Pdf has dead links to other web sites

I am publishing a pdf flyer to my web site, but the liniks don't work.  I started with a word 2007 document.  I tried saving as a pdf file.  The links work in locally but do not when I publish them.  I tried downloading the adobe plug in for word and saving it that way to a PDF.  Same problem.  I tried converting the word document to pdf in Acrobat 10.0 and then saving as a pdf.  Same problem.  I tried editing the links in Acrobat after conversion before saving as pdf.  Same problem.  I am using internet explorer 9 and windows 7.  I tried in Firefox and it doesn't work there either.  Can anyone help me with this?

The links are probably relative, but may have to be absolute for your application. I would try that on one or two of the links and see if that resolves the issue.

  • Incompatible web sites, playing wmv video on mac

I am an expert pc user switching to mac...
I realized when I made the switch that they would be software that worked with PC that would not work with MAC. What has really surprised me, is there seems to be many web sites that will not work with MAC and its browsers.
This started with a conversation with apple support, where they indicated there were incompatible web sites.
My business bank stops you cold and says you have to use IE; you can ignore it and move on and it seems to work ok.
The Walgreen pharmacy web site has a drug cost calculator that also says you must use IE, and you cannot move on.
What really concerns me are the ones that give you no warning, but just don't work. If you go to
    http://www.dotnetnuke.com/default.aspx?tabid=777
under the title of Video introduction:
Mac Firefox - nothing displays for the video player
Mac Safari - the video player displays, but the video will not play.
PC IE - everything works as expected.
The video format is wmv, which is an industry standard. I installed flip4mac, which is supposed to allow you to view wmv in quicktime, but it did work. Even after downloading the video (a link), I could not watch in on the mac. I had to go to a PC.
This type of silliness is exactly why I am running from a PC. Now I am finding it prevalent on the mac.
Question 1) specific to the wmv file format, how do you get it to run on mac?
Question 2) is this just the way it is? You cannot depend on web applications working at all with mac?
    thanks!
    bob

    Hi Bob,
    Ok, I'll bite
Apple has to understand that we don't care about who is at fault for web sites not working with Mac
The WebKit team are more than aware of that fact, and where possible they work with popular websites to get them to correct their websites or add specific 'kludges' into the WebKit code to specifically support these sites.
Apple has the ability to have an IE mode in safari to handle these situations, but hey choose not to
I've not heard that before. Can you quote a source?
If it takes IE compatibility mode to handle all web sites, then just do it.
That of course costs money. And then there's the prospect of Apple having to license Microsoft's DRM solution to provide 100% compatibility with Windows Media files. As we all know, Apple like good P.R. as much as the next company and handing something like that to Microsoft is never going to happen.
Microsoft clearly won't provide updated WMP technology for OS X as it gives them nothing, other than the extra impetus for people to switch away from Windows.
So we're stuck with essentially badgering the broken sites to fix things, or going somewhere else (and spending our $$$ there if needed).
The bar for a college student is much lower
True, but today's college student is tomorrow's business person and Apple products are very popular with college students these days. Apple are in this for the long term. Things will change, but we have to live in the real world and know this isn't going to happen soon.
The truth of the matter is that the sooner Microsoft get on board with being a responsible web-citizen then the better it will be for everyone (and by everyone I don't just mean Apple users, but anyone connected to the internet).
Almost [1 in 3 browsers on the web are not Internet Explorer|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usageshare_of_webbrowsers] - that's a huge number and businesses on the web need to be aware of this.
Please please please do not get me wrong - I would love it if Safari (or Firefox, or Opera, or Chrome, or ...) could handle every site that IE does but it's never, ever going to happen.
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • Started creating a web site using iWeb, signed up for MobileMe trial, now iWeb won't work?

So I started playing around with iWeb and created a web site for my portfolio. I then signed up for a trial of the MobileMe. After I went through the whole setup process for MobileMe...setting up on my iPod Touch, then on my iMac, then syncing all the apps...I back to iWeb to publish my web site to my newly created MobileMe account. Only iWeb was unresponsive. I tried to restart the application. I get as far as the welcome screen with the "Getting Started Video", but there is no iWeb window open behind that. I tried to restart my machine...nothing!
Now I have this MobileMe trial that is ticking away and I can't even use it. Please help, thanks.
    grafxboy.mac

Update. After a conversation with Marlon at Apple Support, we have it resolved. As soon as I mentioned that iWeb would launch properly on other profiles, we figured out that it has to be a preference problem. I should have known better, its one of the first things to check. But, I've been away from macs for a little bit, so I'm a little rusty in the troubleshooting dept.
    To trash iWeb preferences:
    1) Quit iWeb
    2) Navigate to:
    User Directory --> Library --> Preferences  --> com.apple.iWeb.plist
    3) Take this file and drag it to your desktop
    4) Relaunch iWeb
    5) If everything works as it should, you can take the preference file you dragged to your desktop and move it to      the recycle bin.
Somewhere in the MobileMe registration and setup process the preferences for iWeb froze up. Trashing the iWeb preferences fixed the problem.
If I come across any issues posting site to MM or posting site updates to MM I will update this thread.

  • Web site for Flash galleries

I have long been frustrated that it is so simple to create a Flash web gallery in either LR or PS but so difficult (for me anyway!) to hang them all together in a coordinated web site.
Since I have CS3, I have a copy of Flash but little knowledge of how to use it. I did not want to go through a steep learning curve because frankly I will only ever create the one web site. I had someone help me put together a simple Flash site that I can make basic edits to using Flash - eg change the text and add a thumbnail for each new gallery I create.
It works great for me - if you are interested to see it (and some of my award-winning Wimbledon Tennis and South of France shots!!) you are welcome to go to http://www.duncangrove.com but do please send me some feedback.

  • Adobe indesiged and web sites

when you create a website in Adobe InDesiged. How do you publish it to a website
    thanks,
    joe

Ideally, you would go from InDesign to Photoshop and from Photoshop to another authoring programs, like Muse.  InDesign is a much faster way to create layouts but Photoshop is a required step if you want to author a web site using Adobe products.
There's no automated conversion tool from Adobe to go from InDesign to Photoshop because the very structure of their PostScript files is different.  We created our own script for Mac users that can process InDesign files and generate layered PSD.

  • How do they do huge corporate web sites?

How are these really big web sites done, like those for Apple, CNN, Microsoft, etc. How many people does it take? Do they have teams? People who specialize in PHP, or JavaScript, or Photoshopping graphics? Is a lot of the work outsourced? (I'm in the USA.) Just wondering.

    Hi
One of my contracts is with a large multi-national company (no names, but it is a well known name), and I am just one of many worldwide.
Most such company's employ very few permanent employees for their web sites (relatively), and tend to go with freelancers that they know and have worked with before, and a few agency's in each country.
Most specialize in 2-3 fields, and are conversant with most others. If you are thinking of finding employment in this area then it is necessary to know about the subject the company specializes in (if it's a publisher, then in what they publish, or a manufacturer then what they manufacture), your level of expertise on the subject should be much better than someone who is just interested, this goes for your fields in web design/development as well. I have found that one should be what is now being called a, 'devigner'.
That said do not expect to make a living out of this type of employment, unless they are doing a large update to their web site (from tables to css), but it can be a life saver when there is little work around. The down side is you cannot advertise the fact due to confidentiality agreements, and some even have a code of conduct that you must adhear to even when not actually doing any work for them
    PZ
Just as an extra thought, they will expect you to drop everything you are doing or have planed, if there is a problem. This included other work you may be doing, holidays, weddings (yours as well), births, (they may even want a months notice if you plan to die ).

  • Safari doesn't open certain web sites

    Hi there,
I'm a web designer working on a new site. My clients say that their Mac which is running Safari 5.1.5 won't open their web site which is: http://www.adventuress.us
I've asked about 5 other people to see if they could open it up on a mac using Safari.  So far, everyone can open it except for my client.
Can you help me troubleshoot this?  The site is created with wordpress.  It's not redirecting.
I'm really not sure which Mac they have or their operating system.  I just chose two so that I could submit this ticket.
What in the world would stop them from being able to see the site? They can go to other sites.
    Thanks.

    Hi...
What in the world would stop them from being able to see the site?
Ask if they have anti virus software installed ..
It would help to know for sure which Mac OS X they have installed. Click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen. From the drop down menu click: About This Mac.
I'm running Lion v10.7.3 with Safari 5.1.5 on one Mac without any problems loading that site. Same with another Mac running Snow Leopard v10.6.8.
I am using OpenDNS which may help your client and is suggested by Apple > Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser redirects, blocks the flashback trojan, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Try that site.

  • My hard drive crashed recently and i can no longer see my web site address in the iWeb side bar

I can n o longer see my web site address in the iweb side bar, how can I relocate it so i can edit my website

Let me start with the general advise...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Can not open a particular web site

Hi, I always tried to open one web site and it used to open well in Firefox and IE. but since last few days it stopped opening both in FF and IE. It gives error as
    1. The connection has timed out The server at www.eng-tips.com is taking too long to respond.
2.If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
3.If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I Google with all above questions and tried most of the solutions, nothing works. Wondering why it stooped opening suddenly ? I tried to open it from other locations just to check if its down but its fine and working but can not open from my home internet. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
