Don't worry about it, if you upload you website you can check it anytime you like during working in CyberDuck. An when you upload ALL files that you need just disconnect CyberDuck.

I find that many of the Web Site Hosting companies support PCs and such, but are not "Mac Friendly."
I want to find a Web Site Hosting company that will allow me to use a third party Mac application (Hype) to develop webpages and then post them to my site.
Can anyone give me any suggestions and help?

I am looking to launch a new on-line business and im trying to calculate estimates costs to host on Azure. Some high level details;
Web site hosting (think AirBNB for example of functionality)
500 suppliers managing heir offering (think private landlords submitting property details)
Will need load balancing for peak volumes - estimated 1,000 unique visitors per week
Integration will be needed to Paypal/realex/similar
DR required
SQL DB with medium spec
Standard support as/if required
remote access for administration purposes
Facility to deploy upgrades/releases as needed
Any help on how to calculate ? I'm a business person, not technical, so need a way to create indicative costs by providing indicative business spec !

Web site hosted video won't play in Safari on MAC.

I have a web application that runs in a web browser. One of its features is the ability to embed a video clip in a web page hosted on this application.
If I create a web page using the HTML5 <video> tag and an H.264 encoded MP4 file video clip, I can browse to this page from my web server and see the video. However, if I launch this same HTML page within my application (window.open(URL, _blank, ...)) it displays the page but refuses to play the video. This happens in Safari 5.1 on my Mac OS10.7 and on all browser tested on my iPad2 (Safari, Mecury, and Dolphin). However, the same HTML code plays fine through my application on all browsers on Windows (including Safari for Windows) and all other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and Opera) on the Mac. It also plays through the default Android browser and the Opera Mobile browser on my Android tablet.
Here is a sample of the HTML that I am using to play this video...

Thank you for your response.
I am aware of the autoplay restriction on iOS devices. What I see in my iPad(2) is an empty area of the window with no control to touch/click to start the video playing.
In Safari on my Mac, I do see the control bar with the rewind/replay and the play buttons; however, the word "Loading..." is displayed forever in the bar. Again, the browser recognizes the video tag and creates the control to play the clip, but the video never actually starts playing. It appears that it hangs trying to download/stream the content.
I have other pages that embed audio clips using the HTML5 <audio> tag. These play fine, as expected, with Safari on my Mac and on my iPad. Yes, I have to manually start the audio on the iPad, but it runs fine once started and autoplays on the Mac. Of course, these audio files are much smaller than the video files that will not play.
I have looked at the codec used for the video to see if it might not be compatible with the Mac Safari browser, but the video plays directly from my web site. It only fails to play when launched in a pop-up window by my web application. I realize that this points to a problem in my application. I am trying to get some ideas about where to look in my application for the problem.

Cannot access web site hosted on Azure VM

I have created Windows Server 2012R2 VM and after creating VM I have installed IIS and hosted my site and found it is working fine inside the VM.
Then I have added HTTP end point to my VM from azure portal. After creating http end point I cannot access my web site using MyHostName.cloudapp.net.
Can you help me why http end point is not working?
Then I have crated VM with template and there I have defined HTTP endpoint before creating VM.
Finally I found that if I create end point before creating VM then it works fine and if I create endpoint after creating VM then it doesn’t work.
Can you kindly help me to solve this issue (so that end point works properly after creating VM)?

Hi,
You can check the port you bind for the website in IIS and make sure you have created endpoint with the correct port. You can also install Telnet client on your local computer and run "telnet xxx.cloudapp.net public_port_in_endpoint" at the command
prompt to see it works.
Have you enable SSL on the website hosted on Azure VM? If yes, please also create an endpoint with port 443 and open that port in Windows Firewall on the VM.

Creative Cloud web Site Hosting

Need help with the website hosting service Adobe Creative Cloud Provides, hoew do I access this service. WHen I put my user name and password in it does not recognize it. Please help with this as I am getting ready to publish a web site. It states when I became a member of creative cloud I have access to this service to publish web sites (up to 5)

Web Site Hosting in Oracle HTTP Server

Hi All,
We have an application based on Oracle UCM. We are accessing that application using the url http://site_name/GMKP/index.htm . I have done virtual hosing (name based) with HTTP Server to host multiple web sites. One requirement is we need to access our application using url http://site_name/gmkp/index.htm . How can we do that? Please let me know a solution for this. Do we have to write some rewrite rule for this?

Look into mod_rewrite with a .htaccess file. You turn it on in httpd.conf.

File storage limits for a web site hosted on Business Catalyst

Hi,
I have three sites currently hosted by other web hosting companies. Each site uses a lot of video files so the site folder size for each site is approximately 10 GB. What business catalyst plan would I need to host three sites each of approximately 10 GB each. Also, I am getting ready to transition to HTML5 video which will mean adding additional video files. Is Business Catalyst capable of handling and presenting video files?

If you are uploading alot of video it maybe better to 'add in' a seperate system eg viddler. This can link nicely to BC and is better suited to video.

I can use cut and paste in Rich Text Editors for all web site hosts but one. I have tried the solution you provided, but it doesn't work. Any ideas? the website that rejects cut and paste is Network Solutions

I really hoped you would fix the security policy issue in release 4. I have to close Firefox and use IE9 to maintain a website I built with Network Solutions and I'd much rather not have to endure the slowness of IE. I also have websites with Wix and WEBS and have no problems at all using cut and paste with them.

Did you have it connected to the library mac when it froze? If so, why? I would be hesitant to hook my ipod to a unprotected public computer since it may be infested with viruses or have unknown hardware problems.
In any case, if you can get it to an Apple store they can probably help you with it, it sounds like it needs replacing.
A certain percentage of any complex product will turn out to be defective and will have to be returned, it sounds like you were unlucky enough to get one. Looking over the forums here it may seem like the ipod is plagued with bugs, but don't forget that there are millions who never have a problem and so have no reason to pipe up here. Personally I think Apple deserves a thumbs up for continuing to host these forums in spite of how they may cast a negative light on thier products to the casual observer.

No email addresses with web site hosting?

From what information I've seen, email addresses are not included in the web hosting part of creative cloud? Why? I think many of assume that's included in most ISP hosting plans, whether or not it's charged for separately. If true, I hope Adobe will consider, along with databases, etc.

As part of your Creative Cloud package you get access to 5 webBasics websites, which indeed do not include e-mail.
However, our offering has several other plan options, for webCommerce or webMarketing for example, that include e-mail accounts. You can always upgrade your website separately to any of these plans.

LDAP/AD authentication to web site hosted on 10.5 Leopard Server

Hi,
Is there an easy/obvious way to do this?
I have a website hosted on OSX server 10.5 that I'd like to restrict access to, ideally based on group membership within Active Directory.
Is there a plugin/script/instructions that could explain this?
I'm guessing it's a fairly common wish, and should be technically possible via LDAP or binding the server to AD etc.
Also, to pass the user's login name into a string that can be logged along with IP/time would be awesome....
Any ideas/help/suggestions greatly appreciated! :mrgreen:

We run a Leopard server and all the clients are Snow Leopard and Windows XP.
I have never tried to do it the way you say.
I tend to just bind the Client machines to the server and tick “Allow network users to log in at login window”
This way any user with a network account on Open Directory can log in to the machine.
This way all you have to do is create the users on the server with appropriate permissions and they can log on anywhere in your domain.
This way also makes life easier for them and you because the only have a single sign on for everything.

Spotlight searching on hosted Web sites

As usual, Spotlight searching on Web sites hosted on OS X Server is yet again the ******* child of OS X Server's Web hosting, with zero documentation or information on how to configure and use it. Take a look at the implementation on my site here:

Apple's documentation says only that "you can customize the template.spotlight file" but that's it. Zip, zero, zilch, nada, as far as how to configure it or what you can configure. So I'm left with very cryptic popup menus including:
kMDItemTextContent
kMDItemAttributeChangeDate
and a handful of others, coupled with search criteria equally cryptic, such as:
==
!=
<
<div class="jive-quote">
and so on.
My company's employees (want to be able to) use this functionality to search our Web site very frequently throughout the day. But it's like banging your head against the wall to figure out how to work this search feature!
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I want to be able to search easily, without cryptic codes, and ideally be able to see the results sorted by date, relevance, file size and so on, like you can do so easily with EVERY other Web site in the ENTIRE WORLD.
I apologize for sounding frustrated. But here Apple proclaims to have server software practically written by God himself and then it's a clusterf* to try and make it work, especially with no documentation about very critical features like simply searching a Web site.

Folks, my web site that was designed with PHP language, Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows Xp Pro but it is still not viewable on the Internet and I need help on how to fix this problem from any one that could help me resolve this issue. My web site hosts that I tried to use for hosting my web site, could not help me solve the problem some claimed that they are not web designers. I need help from any one that could help. A test page was viewable on windows web host server but did not Linux, or Unix but the entire was upload to windows web host server it becan unviewable. Please help me get this right.
1. What am i doing wrong?
2. How can I fix it?
3. Or, what do I need to do that could make it work?
As of now, I have cancelled my web host for this reason.

Web site hangs when opened

I've posted a web site gallery, and everyone who's tried it reports that it opens the page, but no images load - until they press 'reload' on their browser. I always experience the same, on both platforms. It DOES load images instantly when I press the 'reload' though. Any idea why this would happen? The web site host has no idea (and they're usually pretty good).

Removing that had no effect, but I think its possibly a code issue, though it effects both PCs and Macs. I suspect it has to do with checking for something, but I wouldnt know.
 
 On the other hand, Dreamweaver, showing the page code, shows the following (notice the errors about 4 lines down) problem regarding the language. The line thats
 
 The last part: lang=en xml:lang=en>
 Is indicated in red underline. Dont know if it can be removed or even if its indeed incorrect (Dreamweaver indicates its a problem). The error says that the lang tag is not supported in Explorer and Netscape. Of course, I'm running Safari! Heres more of the code, from the top:
