Web site still says that Firefox doesn't accept cookies

Hi,
The web page mail.hitmessaging.net/ suddenly says that Firefox doesn't accept cookies so I followed all your instructions on this page
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Websites%20say%20cookies%20are%20blocked
and restarted the browser and then the computer but the problem remains. I clicked OK after having changed the settings in "Tools"-"Privacy" exactly as you recommend (I have double-checked) but when I open that menu again the changed settings haven't been saved. The setting is still "Remember history" instead of "Use customer settings for history" no matter how many times I try to change the setting. I'm using the Swedish version of Firefox 6 and I didn't have this problem with any home page before upgrading to Firefox 6.
Best regards,

Hi, My employer has a web site & as a part of the service to the employees, the employees can access personal details through the web site. I can access my employers web site not a problem, BUT - when i try to access the employees part of the web site it tells me "This browser is not supported.
You must be running Netscape 7.1 or greater."
    Can someone please help?

It is possible that the server gets confused by the user agent that is modified by your Ubuntu distribution and adds Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick)
    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-AU; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101206 Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick) Firefox/3.6.13
You can try to reset the pref general.useragent.extra.* that add that part.<br />

  • My browser has been closed all night and in the morning I get an error saying that Firefox is still running and I need to shut it donw. Why is this?

I close the browser and it does not matter how much time elapses it still says that Firefox is running. I am told to close Firefox before I can open another session. I hit ctrl+alt+del to pull the task manager and it does not show any Firefox applications.

There is no '''5.1''' - Firefox 5.'''0'''.1 was a special version to fix some Mac OSX issues which Apple created with the 10.5 and 10.6 updates and the release of 10.7 Lion last week. Windows and Linux versions don't need those patches and weren't updated. The global download server array can't handle different version numbers for different OS platforms, so the full download versions had to be version number "bumped" for Windows & Linux to match the new Mac version number.
As far as your support question, you probably had a "hung" Firefox '''Process''' - look in the '''Processes''' tab in the Task Manager. <br />

I suspect if you're trying to open a file in 08 that's been opened in 09 the file has been updated to 09 and will not open in 08.

Since upgrading to Firefox 27.0 some webpages will not load when I click on them. It gives me a message saying that Firefox can't find the server. I have to click the link several time before it will load and sometimes when they do load it does not show the page right. It is like the HTML is messed up or something. I have tried everything I can think of. I started in safe mode, still did it., I removed add-ons, still did it., I reset Firefox and still did it., I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed Firefox and it still does it. I have tried Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scans and Avast boot-time scans and found no malware or viruses. I have found that those websites open the first time with no problems on my IE9 and they used to do so in Firefox 26.0. I'm at my wit's end. The website links are in my bookmarks and are used all the time so they are trusted and my avast is set to allow them. They range from news websites to gun websites and everything I have read says that Mozilla does not filter those unless something has changed recently.

  • Popup says that firefox is out of date. update to continue

I get a popup when i am on a videopoker site the says."Firefox is out of date. Please update to continue.
Previously i got a popup that said "Flashplayer is out of date. Please update to continue.
The only info i can provide, since i'm no geek, is a (browser/Ip) address i see on the screen. It says 8.29.133.184/browser/firefox. Looking up that # traces it to "Beyond Hosting LLC.
I have run every malware/scan i can find to eliminate this to no avail. All scans come back clean. Ideas ?

Note that you should only update Firefox and plugins via their official web page.<br />

  • When I try to open Firefox, I get a message saying that firefox is already currently running, although it is not running. Close and try again or restart computer. How can I fix this?

I always close Firefox when I am finished with the web. When I try to open it later, I often get a message saying that firefox is currently running, so close it first. As far as I can tell, firefox is not running. The message then says to restart your computer and try again. I restart my computer and then firefox opens.

I recently updated my browser. A message then came up, saying that firefox would create a folder which would include my old bookmarks. But I can't find my bookmarks in it?

I'm not familiar with that message...
Are you bookmarks still intact and working normally?
Is there an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop by any change? If the Firefox "Reset" feature runs, that folder should be created.

Good luck finding the solution. I have another posting https://discussions.apple.com/message/25145839#25145839 on this exact same issue, and that is after looking on my own for the solution on the web and on Apple's forum without any luck for a real solution. Having to RESET a device every time I need to clear out old messages from memory sounds to me like an intended pain from Apple to keep pushing iPhone users to purchase additional iCloud backup plans.

The only way I know is to use digital wartermarking and
    tracking
services like DigiMarc as suggested by Bregent in your
    previous thread.
It's kind of neat in that it places digital information in
    the images
as noise. In most cases it's quite unobtrusive, but only you
    can be the
    judge of that.
The information even survives through some minor editing of
    the files.
So if somebody crops your visible watermark or does some
    other minor
editing, the information is still in the file.
I'm only an amateur photographer and my free trial ran out
    years ago. I
did not get to see the tracking system in action with the
    trial
    version.

Firefox doesn't accept some sites and IT'S FREEZING sometimes and you can't write anything or click anywhere...reaaly disaponting, I have to restart it and after a while same thing, I can't close any tab only by options close tab so you can't use Command Q or Command R for reloading...GRRRRRrrrr, hate this

As I asked previously are you able to have tabs open as a window by using the right clicking option ?
When you close Firefox you should use
    *'''Firefox button -> File -> Exit '''
    Are you doing that ?
I suspect what may be happening is Firefox is hanging as it closes down.
    * see [[Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix#w_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it]]_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it
    * this explains how to check & if necessary kill the process [["Firefox is already running but is not responding" error message - How to fix it#w_end-firefox-processes]]_end-firefox-processes
A related possible problem is that you may have built up many copies of the restore files. These are stored in the Firefox profile. The easiest method of finding the profile location istouse
*use '''Firefox button -> Help -> Troubleshooting Information <br /> -> [Show Folder]'''
*see [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
You need to look for the files ''sessionstore.js'' and numbered duplicates of that. Delete them.
