Web sites lost when I reinstalled sofware

I had 2 web sites that I designed using iWeb.
I had to replace my hard drive and reinstall sofware.
Now I lost my web sites, when I start iWeb the left window where my 2 web sites used to appear is empty.
I noticed that I have the files that belong to 1 of my web sites is in the folder marked Sites in a back-up, when I copied these files to the Sites folder of the newly reinstalled software, it still does not appear on the left window of iWeb. It is still as if I am using iWeb for the very first time.
How can I recover my 2 web site files? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

The file you need to use with iWeb for managing your websites is named Domain.sites or Domain.sites2 depending on the version of iWeb your using, 2 or 3. They would be located in your Home/Library/Applications Support/iWeb folder.
If you didn't have a backup of your drive before it crashed and was replaced you won't be able to recover them and will have to rebuild your sites from scratch.
If you do have to rebuild from scratch this would be the time to switch to a supported, up to date web site application as iWeb has been unsupported/dead for about 2 years now.
If you search the iWeb forum for "iWeb replacement" or "iWeb alternate" you'll find many topics discussing them. One that many have gravitated to is EverWeb which is very iWeb like in its user interface and drag and drop capabilities. However, it is much more advanced that iWeb was.

After changing your Apple ID information, you may need to manually sign out and sign back in on your devices so that they may recognize the update. You may find the following article helpful:

Web configuration lost when upgrading to advanced server admin

Hello,
after setting correctly the basic configuration,and setting the web servives, we did the upgrade to advanced option and then we focues to other apple problems like getting network connection, starting xgrid,etc), and then is when we realized that the web settings, server name, etc were lost when we moved to the advanced server admin.

I would most emphatically recommend that you get your boss to sign off on you having no liability nor culpability for any results of work he expects you to do "on the side".
People study and learn for years - and appropriately so ! - in order to accomplish this kind of work effectively and efficiently.
If you are learning and have a non-production environment to work with and potentially wipe & reinstall where need be, then by all means, go for it (start learning).
But otherwise your boss should accept that s/he is getting what they're paying for, and since it is nothing, they should be prepared for that.
It is neither technically nor professionally advisable to foist a task such as this on someone and expect the result(s) to be that of a trained professional in that field. The fundamental concern is the disconnect there, and the unacceptable risk this situation could put you in, either now or in the future.
To the matter at hand, I generally recommend strongly against an upgrade, as compared to a (verified good) backup, wipe and reinstall and configure from the outset as "Advanced."
For computer management, you will want to run your server as an Open Directory Master,
and as such, you must must must have verified working DNS lookup(s) for your server's FQDN, prior to proceeding with re-installing & reconfiguring it.

Ibooks author web links lost when preview to iPad

Created a long book with ibooks author including links to web sites. Works fine on Mac version but when I open the book on iPad ibooks, web links are lost and default to apple web site. What do I do to retain links for iPad version of ibooks?

No, catually I can't. I don't see my iPad nor my iPhone either in Image Capture, iPhoto, iTunes. They are nowhere. I even tried 3 different dock-USB cables. The cables are ok and I can charge the devices. But they won't be recognized by all the apps. This never happened before. The only thing that has changed recently is that I installed OSX Lion. Hi, My employer has a web site & as a part of the service to the employees, the employees can access personal details through the web site. I can access my employers web site not a problem, BUT - when i try to access the employees part of the web site it tells me "This browser is not supported.

It is possible that the server gets confused by the user agent that is modified by your Ubuntu distribution and adds Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick)

Web site hangs when opened

I've posted a web site gallery, and everyone who's tried it reports that it opens the page, but no images load - until they press 'reload' on their browser. I always experience the same, on both platforms. It DOES load images instantly when I press the 'reload' though. Any idea why this would happen? The web site host has no idea (and they're usually pretty good).

Removing that had no effect, but I think its possibly a code issue, though it effects both PCs and Macs. I suspect it has to do with checking for something, but I wouldnt know.
 
 On the other hand, Dreamweaver, showing the page code, shows the following (notice the errors about 4 lines down) problem regarding the language. The line thats

 Is indicated in red underline. Dont know if it can be removed or even if its indeed incorrect (Dreamweaver indicates its a problem). The error says that the lang tag is not supported in Explorer and Netscape. Of course, I'm running Safari! Heres more of the code, from the top:

Why can't I open my courses in my on-line school web site now when I have always been able to before?

I synced with new computer, lost apps. reinstalled but Office HD docs that we're not lost when I reinstalled will not cut and paste. Will I need to use only new documents to cut and paste?

Which C50-A do you have? There is a label on the bottom.
What security applications do you have installed? Webroot is a common offender.
Do you have Microsoft Office installed? If so, which version?
Do you use Bluetooth?

For the first two: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Cmd+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Here you can individually remove them. Then try reloading the page and logging back in. Does that help?

Since I upgraded to ios5 safari can't handle the java setting on an internal work web site. When i click on a field it appears to be uncalibrated. How can I add another browser or go back to ios4 till a fix is found?

My current work around is turning java on and off, but all fields are still not active. Please advise. Thank you.

JavaScript is a rather flexible language and not always totally cross-browser, so what works with one browser may not work with another, or even in some cases a revision of one that worked before. Absent corrections to the web site, if the site isn't working on your iPad now, you will indeed probably need a different browser. There's no supported way to downgrade your version of iOS, but there are other web browsers available in the iTunes Store, including Opera Mini and iCab Mobile. One of those might be happier with the JavaScript on your web site. Opera is free, so you might want to try that first.

I went on the Comcast web site to pay my bill yesterday. I know that Comcast has upgraded much of their web site. When I tried to click the link to view my bill details, it opened up a list of items on my computer.

I was able to pay the bill, just not open up bill details. I contacted Comcast & they could not help me to get it to work. So I tried it on Internet Explorer and it worked perfectly. It used to work on Firefox. Can you tell me how to get it to work? I prefer Firefox to IE, but I have to use IE for this web page.. I am using Windows 7.

We uploaded a pdf to our web site but when viewed in Modzilla items are boxed and masked. Is there a way to make a pdf that is friendly to all browsers?

When viewed in Safari and other browsers the pdf looks like it was intended. In Modzilla there are shaded boxes covering headlines and artwork. Makes it look like a jumble. Here is a link

My iPad when I open safari will allow me to type a address and it will go to the web site but when it gets there the screen is darkened and it will not let me do anything but go to anouther adress. Touch screen doesn't work and tabs don't work.

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or if those do not work - quit Safari
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
