Same video card, turned off all extensions and hardware acceleration but FF 5 still shows incomplete fonts on web pages randomly. Any fix ?

Hard to explain but when i go to some web site all i see is lines and lines of capital "A" in a box?

  • Firefox displays gmail in huge font but other web sites show it in regular fonts

when I open gmail in Firefox it has just started coming up in huge fonts so that i can only see part of the screen. When I open gmail in Internet Explorer or AOL, it comes up just fine and I can see the whole screen. How can I restore the Firefox display to normal?

PERFECT. Many thanks for the prompt response.

  • All my icons are missing in YahooMail. I have tried everything written here, Delete cache, let web site choose own fonts. Works in Chrome.

I have read every post here regarding this problem. I now have to use chrome to use my Yahoo mail. This problem i have on my note book too.
Tell me how install FF version before 24.
I see i am not the only one with this issue.
Also I now use 25 and still no good, my font size is so small and I cannot re size it.

Those icons are a special font that is downloaded from the Yahoo server.
I assume that you see little boxes with the hex code instead?
If that is the case then you are somehow blocking downloading and applying this font.
Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
If a new profile still has this issue then your security software might be blocking this font.

  • Adobe setting manager web site showing "This content requires Flash" in FireFox

From the following page (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html) it tells me that I have the latest version of Flash installed, but yet when I go to any of the "Settings Manager" pages I keep getting the
    This content requires Flash
Download the free Flash Player now!
I am using the latest version of Firefox.  I am not sure if it's a FF issue or an adobe flash issue..  I searched and found the same issue with IE in the forums and checked it out but nothing in the messages indicated anything that would help me.  My IE works perfectly.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled many time even using the special uninstall tools from the site to clean up older versions and such, but nothing worked.

I am running Windows XP SP3.
These are the files I have.
    Flash10v.ocx
    FlashInstall.log
    flashplayer.xpt
    FlashUtil10v_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil10v_ActiveX.exe
    FlashUtil11f_Plugin.exe
    install.log
    NPSWF32.dll
The funny thing is, I have the exact same setup on my laptop and everything work fine there..
Although in the same directory on my laptop, the 10v files are 10h instead.

  • The display of web sites in response to a search is showing up very small on my screen. How do I get it back to regular size?

I may have unknowingly punch a combination of keys or something on the menu. But the result is that when I do a search, the resulting list of web sites shows up very small in the upper left hand corner of my screen. How do I get the display to default back to regular size? Now the default is tiny type that I can't even read. Thanks.

  • Headings and other print run into each other and I cnnot see all the print in some boxes on vrious web sites. I have removed and re-installed more than once.

copy on the web pages overlap.....headlines appear over other print.....link tabs are on top of each other. I have removed and re-installed Firefox many times. This does not happen with other browsers. Also, some web sites show sections that are off center.

    Hi,
Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox%20prints%20pages%20in%20a%20different%20layout this]. If the site has a Print button/icon you can try to use that. On some sites you can also try to right-click the content > '''This Frame''' > '''Print frame'''.

  • Unable to play videos on the BBC web site.

Running an iMac (Mac OS X 10.9.1) with Safari (7.0.1) and Flash Player 11.9.900.170 I get the message "This content doesn't seem to be working. Please try again later" when trying to run any videos (including those in iPlayer) on the www.bbc.co.uk web site.
On a Macbook Pro (Mac OS X 10.9.1) with Safari (7.0.1) and Flash Player 11.9.900.117, the videos and iPlayer content all run normally.
On both machines, video files from other sites run normally.
I have removed and re-installed Flash Player 11.9.900.170 on the iMac, checked all the advice from your Forum pages, but can find no way to improve this situation.
    Any advice gratefully received.
    Tony Moss

    Thanks Mike.
I've now tried both suggestions, and things have much improved. Most video clips now play (including those from the iPlayer site), although many from the bbc.co.uk/news and its associated sites do not - the video clip remains stubbornly black, with no error message appearing.
However, all video clips (from ANY web site) show a grey screen with "Shockwave Flash" displayed. Clicking this screen removes it and the video plays (unless it happens to be on the bbc.co.uk/news and its associated sites). Could this be significant?
Also, I've tried using the Chrome browser, and again some clips on the bbc.co.uk/news site fail to run (but no "Shockwave Flash" screen at all in Chrome) and allow me to collect the following error details:-
    Error code : 3024
    Severity : critical
Description : All net connections failed
    Responsibility : Application
In Firefox, the following error details are obtained:-
    Error code : 3011
    Severity : error
Description : The netstream connection was closed unexpectedly
    Responsibility : Application
I hope some of this is helpful in determining, and possibly resolving, the cause of the problem.
    Regards,
    Tony

  • Stupid web site set up.

In trying to clean some crap off my pc. I uninstalled the version of Adobe I had installed early Dec. this year. When I then tried to contact a website I used all the time it wouldn't show until I re-installed Adobe which I did.
Now the web site shows but it says a potentially harmful site is trying to access my computer. It gives me the options of clicking ''settings'' if I want to let it access and the other option is ''OK''. Excuse me for being obstinate but if ''settings'' is for ALLOWING access, then what the hell is OK for????? Sometimes I think I'm working with complete idiots.
I'm not going to click something which I have been warned is potentially harmful and I'm not going to click OK which in any REAL universe would ALSO mean accept the thing which is potentially harmful.
Secondarily, I wish they would give a phone # to talk to an actual person with a problem. They never seem to have a problem giving a # one can call to BUY something but heaven forbid someone who is already a customer should want some help in using the product THEY HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR.

First things first. Flash Player IS FREE. If you've "paid for it" you didn't do it here.
Second, the "potentially harmful" notice is about a "local" (on your hard drive) HTML or SWF file trying to connect to the internet through Flash Player. It pops up for ANY file that attempts to connect, because that's a common way to deliver malware to an unsuspecting user. I've developed Flash content since 2007 and I've seen it hundreds of times for files I made myself so I KNOW they're safe.
It's a standard alert and can be easily worked around following these steps:
    1. navigate to: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/se ttings_manager04.html
    2. click edit locations
    3. click browse for folder
    4. find the folder that contains your html and swf and click ok
    5. you should see that folder in the "always trust files in these locations" field.
    6. using your file browser, navigate to that now trusted folder and open the flash-published html in your web browser.
    7. click your button.
If you still feel you need to talk to someone over the phone, you can call:
    1 (800) 833-6687
That's available Monday thru Friday 6am to 7pm (PST)
    And..
It's $39.99 per call, which MUST BE prepaid, and that applies whether or not your issue can be, or is, resolved.

  • Familybase usage reporting on Verizon web site has stopped working

I've been a Verizon customer since 1993, and as I work in the technology field consider myself adept at using electronic devices and services.
I set up and have been using family locator and familybase for about a month. I set up time and data usage windows, trusted and blocked telephone numbers, and everything worked well. The family base web site showed me usage by time period, top apps and time used.  Everything was working fine till last Sunday afternoon when the Verizon web site started giving me a message that the service was unavailable.
I tried logging in from a Mac with safari, a pc with IE and with chrome, my iPhone and from an android tablet with the same result- the service is unavailable, try back later. I satisfied myself it was not the device or browser I was using to access the web page as the error was platform independent.
i next restarted the child device after confirming the companion app was installed and "self identifying" that it was installed and running. No change. I then reinstalled the companion app from the Google play store, and it again appeared to be installed correctly. The services associated with familybase appeared to be running on the android device. Still, no service available on the vzw web site.
I'm at my wits end.  I've done everyone I've found in these forums to troubleshoot this, and the service continues to be unavailable. I know we're only talking 4.99 a month but it's starting to be annoying that something has stopped for no apparent reason and now won't work.

aNHguy, I want to make sure that you are able to use FamilyBase. I appreciate all the steps you have taken to troubleshoot this. When you are on your My Verizon account, do features still show FamilyBase under your current features? You mentioned that you have been using the service for a month so I want to ensure that after the one month free trial expired that the feature remained on your account.

  • InDesign CC / Cloud Fonts - Incomplete Font warning, does not export font when Packaging?

I'm using a new font from the creative cloud.  I  packaged my project and the fonts showed "incomplete fonts" and then didn't export the font, into the font folder, when packaging.  There is an AdobeFnt15.lst file in the fonts folder, which I'm not sure about?  If this is the case, how will I deliver my project to my printer when it is finished?

If you downloaded Typekit fonts from the Creative Cloud (the ones available from the Fonts menu in the Creative Cloud Desktop app), they are not packaged. They are only licensed to Creative Cloud subscribers or Typekit subscribers. They can be embedded in a PDF file or in an EPUB file or in a DPS project.
So you have two options: (1) Given the popularity of the Creative Cloud, your printer should have at least one CC subscription, then they can download  the fonts you're using. In fact, it's a relatively automatic process and I describe in the linked blog post below; or (2) you can create a PDF file they can print from.
Here's an article on how it works:

  • IWeb site on Mobile me - random pages not showing thumbs, photo's

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but I'm at my wits end. I keep a family photo web site here http://web.me.com/rotlex
I just noticed over the past few days, that a number of my photo galleries appear to have lost their images and thumbnails. They are still there, in iWeb on my machine, but gone on the site. I see this issue when using either Safari, or Firefox 3. An example is this particular gallery: http://web.me.com/rotlex/home/Archive_Gallery.html
Anyone have any ideas? Does the link above show photo's, or thumbs for anyone? Again, this appears random on the site, not all pages, etc. Thanks for any input.

Thank you! I'm running the Publish all to Mobile now. I didn't even know that was an option! (Guess I should thoroughly read the manuals on some of this stuff eh? (Only been using iWeb since, well it's inception, LOL).
Seriously though, I did as you said first, just changed something minor on a page, published it, and it worked fine. I'm assuming re-publishing the whole site will fix it all.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. 8-)

  • Font Changing on Web Site

I created a website using a font called Litterbox. Everything looks great when I visit the web site on my laptop, but when viewing it on my friend's computer the font was completely different. Is there a way that I can prevent this from happening?

The reason your font is not showing on your friends computer is not because of internet explorer. It is because that person does not have that exact same font on their computer. The only way to solve this for iweb is to add a shadow effect to the text you wish to use.
    - Select the text (not the text box) that you want that is not "websafe"
    - Go to inspector -> graphic tab and check the shadow box
    - Then on that same plane, change the opacity to 1%
    - Save and publish
Pros: The font you see is what every viewer will see no matter the OS or browser
Cons: The text is now converted into an image and is no longer selectable by the viewer and is not readable by search engine spiders. This part only matters if you're worried about SEO. If SEO is something that matters to you then use iWeb SEOTools (Free) and add meta tags to that now texted image.
Remember only shadow the text and not the textbox and make sure the opacity is set to 1%.... unless you want shadow to be seen then set it up to 99%... For some reason on my end, setting it to either 0 or 100 does not work. So keep it between 1 and 99.

  • Bengali font on Indian web sites

I'm trying to find out how I can get indian language web sites to show up in Safari? They are in the language Bengali. I've tried downloading multiple Bengali fonts but none of them seemed to work. Some of the web sites in question are:
    http://www.bartamanpatrika.com/index.htm
    http://www.anandabazar.com/

You would have no problem with web sites that use the international Unicode standard UTF-8 encoding for Bengali. A font for those can be found here:
    http://www.ekushey.org/projects/osx/
Unfortunately the sites you mention use old Windows-only dynamic font technology. You might be able to view them if you can find copies of their special fonts to download and install and try various browsers using "user-defined" encoding.
For bartamanpatrika, the name of the font is "Aaadurga".
For anandabazar, the name of the font is "aabpbengali".
Sometimes pages like this offer the required fonts for downloading, but I haven't found it in these cases. It may be that some other non-Unicode Bengali font could be used as well -- you would just have to search for them and experiment.
