Web sites take forever to open, I had to switch to iexplorer which had no problem opening websites.

I try to go to websites and it takes forever to open, the little circle just keeps spinning. Sometimes it opens after a long wait, but sometime it times out.
To check the problem I went to internet explorer and had no trouble.

So the Time preferences will not load, the fan is running at full speed, and the CPU is being used. You can try starting the computer in safe mode to disable nonessential items then restarting like normal. If it is still having the issue then reset the SMC. That can help applications that may not function correctly or stop responding after being opened.

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

Mac sites take forever to load

The last couple weeks Firefox has been unbearably slow. Sites take up to a minute to load. I thought it was a problem with beta 36. So I deleted the app and removed the profiles from ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile folder>

I installed the stable 35.0.1 app and didn't install any addons and the problem persists. At this point I would assume it's an ISP issue, but Chrome works fine.
Any suggestions?

When using installed 3.6.10 version, web pages take a long time to load. No add-ons or plug-ins are used. I have to use version 3.6 if I want to browse with Firefox, Or web pages take FOREVER to load.

OS: Windows 7 pro, updated daily as needed. This is a self built HIGH END computer, with a Quad processor, we'll leave it at that. I have a Cable connection: download speeds 1.5MBs. When I load Firefox 3.6.8 or 3.6.10 version, web pages take several minuets to load if at all. When I reinstall the basic Firefox 3.6 version over the 3.6.10 version, ALL web pages load instantly! I want the increased security of version 3.6.10 Firefox, but it will just NOT RUN on my computer!!

same problem here for the past two days till this morning when I created a new profile and removed ALL addons from the default profile. With the new profile with NO addons, I got to the sites with video that I had problem with and flash player did work.
Now, I only have three addons that have not created the problem; adblock, flashgot, and flashblock.
Create a new profile and check it out.

Since I installed Firefox, my computer is constantly slowed down. I cannot scroll without it freezing up on me. Sites take forever to load.

However, I have it workable now.
My main "Contacts" list is whittled down to around 500.
I have then created separate 'folders' under Contacts (using Outlook 2007) into which I keep the rest. If I go into the biggest one of these (over 5,000) on the iPhone it is painfully slow but eventually loosens up if I'm patient.
When using my phone, though, I just need to make sure the LAST folder (Group) I leave open is my main "Contacts" one. Then when I look up contacts within the Phone function or elsewhere it uses that group by default, which is much less slow (but I wouldn't use the word 'fast').
Prior to 2.x contacts performed much better, so some change in the release has bogged things down a lot. It got much better with 2.1 and will hopefully keep improving as releases continue to flow.

Displaying some www sites takes forever

I have a macbook (OSX 10.5.7), connected wireless to an accesspoint using DHCP. Almost everything works fine, but I noticed that sites that use images from other servers (like amazon and ravelry) take forever to load, and sometimes the images do not load at all. The firefox taskbar shows it's loading for example from images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com, but it rarely finishes. Safari shows the same behaviour. I also have a windows machine connected wireless, and it doesn't show the same problem, so I guess it is some configuration issue on my macbook.
Anyone else ever noticed this behaviour and knows a solution? Please let me know if you need more information.

Appreciate your suggestions, but this is sounding too complicated for me--especially since I just read Google Chrome is the most secure browser. I may just start using Chrome. Thanks very much anyway!

Firefox 4 beta on my and another system ended up not being able to load certain web sites ie igoogle so went back to 3.6 has anyone else had the same problem

firefox 4 beta ended up on certain web sites grinding to a halt then stopped responding igoogle is a prime example firefox 3.6 is fine with the web site it was not doing it till the 12th beta version and its happened on two systems so im not alone its resulted in me removing firefox 4 and i will wait until its officially released

I went on the Comcast web site to pay my bill yesterday. I know that Comcast has upgraded much of their web site. When I tried to click the link to view my bill details, it opened up a list of items on my computer.

I was able to pay the bill, just not open up bill details. I contacted Comcast & they could not help me to get it to work. So I tried it on Internet Explorer and it worked perfectly. It used to work on Firefox. Can you tell me how to get it to work? I prefer Firefox to IE, but I have to use IE for this web page.. I am using Windows 7.

HELP! Site takes forever to load

I have made a short movie about 6 minutes long, no audio, I
am in standard mode. I uploaded as a SWF file.
But when I go to open it, it takes over 5 minutes to load!

Is there any solutions to this?

Some sites (nytimes) take forever to load - seems to relate to graphics or CSS files. Problem occurs in safe mode. No problems on same sites using Chrome.

By forever, I mean that the loading icon spins and spins. Often, but not always, if I stop the load and reload, the page loads instantly.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
