Web template designs - any tutorials ?

I have Fireworks 8 and would like to design some nice web templates for some sites.
Not rickety designs but really nice ones, Web 2.0, etc.
Are there any tutorials that help with that level of design?
I've found some older tutorials but I'd love to find some that help with up-to-date modern design concepts.

CL_RSR_WWW_MODIFY_TABLE is used to customize the web templates in BW3.x.
the way I understand the data flow to web templates work is :
Query(s) --> Web Template class --> HTML --> <CL_RSR_WWW_MODIFY_TABLE - this class is optional >
This works only for Web templates though - as for classes that are used in web templates - create a web template and then assign the same to a request - you will find the classes available under that request under PHIO or something like that.

WAD: Design request for web template with re-occuring table object

I'm trying to create a web template design in WAD (WAS 6.20) using javascript that would loop and re-use the same table web item object displaying different sales employee data. The challenges I'm facing is that the number of employees to report on might be different for the reporting period and the report should have a sales employee specific header preceeding each table. And also the customer is looking at receiving a canned (precalculated) report generated weekly.
I'm thinking that I could try looping through the 0salesemply characteristic values as displayed from a dropdown box object and pass the individual value as the table object's filter value and hopefully re-generate and render the same table with different filter values until the end of sales employee list of names is reached. Within that same loop, a second table pointing to a different data provider can also display selective data specific to that sales employee.
My question is would such a design render the same table item multiple times based on the number of 0salesemply values and on a single web page. Would such a design work or would I need to look at designing a BSP application querying the ODS table directly.
If anyone has any comments on how else I can achieve this or can provide examples of similar design it would be very much appreciated.

Problem exporting to excel when using embedded web templates through WAD

Using web templates designed with WAD, we are experiencing an issue when trying to export excel when using embedded web templates.
We have set up tabstrips within our templates that load other templates (embedded into the global template).
Upon right clicking on any query and choosing "Export to Excel", any query that is in one of the tabs using the embedded web template item does not show up. Any queries in natively in the global web template will export and show up fine.
Any thoughts on how to enable something like this, or workarounds to make this work? We decided to split up these templates for performance reasons and can't go back from that decision. Also let me know if you need a better explanation of what we're trying to do.

Hi SDBI,
Is this in place of loading a new template per tab? We are using container layouts in all of our templates so we can link things into tabstrips as well, we have just split up some templates to be embedded into tabs for performance reasons and data locking.
Also when exporting, we are looking for all of the items displayed at that time to be exported, however only the items from the global template show up, not all of the displayed queries. For example, anything outside of the tabstrip will export perfectly, but since the query embedded into the template the tabstrip is loading is not part of the native web template, it does not show up.
Seems like a tool limitation to me when embedding templates?

How to assign a query to a web template in WAD

Hello experts,
How do I assign the web template to the actual query? I have a new template wich is a copy of 0ADHOC which I would like to use for a certain query.
Is it sufficient to assign the template of interest in TC 'RSCUSTV21' (standard web template) or does this have no impact in this case?

I'm using BI 7.0, and am having Fredrick's same problem
Nothing was defined in RSCUSTV21, so I typed in the technical name of my own Web Template for Ad-hoc analysis.
However, when I executed the report from the Query Designer, it did not display according to my template. I attempted to empty the cache, as suggested by Bhanu, but it did not work.
When I click on the Information button in BEx Web Analyzer, it still shows the default 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN as the Web Template.
Any ideas? I will assign points to who provides the solution.

Question regarding the default web template for queries

I am trying to learn the default web template that is using for queries:
0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING70
I see that it's <bi:QUERY value="" /> is empty which is logic since the query will be inserted on runtime. My question is, where in the web template does it say that? I can't see any parameter it expects to get with the query's technical name not at the webtemplate code nor at the URL...

I think you are mixing things. The template you are mentioning is used for queries that are executed from the query designer. It's not a web template as any other one you create for your users. So, this web template has some parts in it's code that works with the query execution. When you run a query, the system takes the query definition (made in QD) and executes it with the web template indicated for the query. This determination is made by the program that is used to run queries. You can try using RSRT transaction to debug and check how this it's done. If you want to change the default web template used by query designer to run the queries, you should do it copying any standard template, like the one you mentioned. If you don't do it, you won't get the information correct.

How to reference variable values in a BW Web Template

I'm having a problem which I hope someone can help me with.
OVERVIEW
I've developed a BW Web template with (among other things) a TEXTELEMENTS Web Item and a TABLE Web Item. I've enhanced the context menu so that when a user selects a row within the TABLE, they can start a SEM-BPS Web interface (which displays a manual planning layout). I've used the 'How to call a BPS Web Interface with Predefined Selections' document to get the basic mechanism working. The JavaScript function I've written successfully passes the variable (DFCOST_PL) value to the planning layout.
THE PROBLEM
The problem is twofold....
1. I need to pass the value for a variable (FEPCVERS) to the layout. However I do not know how to make reference to the variable in JavaScript. The variable is available within the TEXTELEMENTS_1 object but how do I address it?
2. On a similar vein, I need to pass the value for a field within the table row to the planning layout. The TABLE_2 object contains the fields (DFCOST_PL and DFGROUPS). When the user selects a line the value for DFCOST_PL is available to the JavaScript function (ZAJT_JS_Maintain_Rules) in the 'parameter1' field. However, how do I make the DFGROUPS field available?

Also, you mentioned that to access the second variable I will need to use the table interface. Is this difficult to do? I'm booked on the NET050 (Developing Web Applications) course, but it's not until late November. Do you think that this course would cover this kind of processing?

RRI : Web Template (7.0) as a receiver Query

Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem.
In sender query, I have Employee,Employee Post and Employee Start Date.
I have to pass employee to Receiver Web Template which shows Employee History.
When the employee number is passed to the receiver, it ask to enter Valid from and to date.
When I am going to RRI query by clicking on a Employee->Go to, I have to enter a date. But after that it shows all the employee with the one which I have passed.I tried all kind of settign in assignment details.
Now when I keep receiver as query on which this web template has been based, it is working fine. I am facing this issue only when I use web template as a receiver.
Any ideas will be highly appreciated.

Please check if you are performing anything or in web template or any commands or selection parameters being reset or set in template. Is this template involves any other web item apart from analysis item? Try removing them if at all you don't want them.

Web template print color

Hello Experts,
I have print funtionality in the web template. I am using the printer class Z_PRINT_HELP_SERVICES. In the print preview, the table is in black & white.
Am I missing some configuration for printing the table in color ?
Is there any alternate way of printing the web templates.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Issue in web template (version 3.x )

Hi Experts,
we have web templates in 3.x versions. Today, some changes were done in the Bex queries underlined.
Normally, the changes in the Bex query will be reflected correctly in the web templates without any problem (no need to adjust the web templates). However, we are having issues - the web template doesn't display the changes made in the query.
If you have any ideas how to fix this issue, please help me.

RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN
RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN_70
Does any expert know, if I could use one of the to generate the template in production without damaging anything?

The programs mentioned by you are for executing a template / viweing the HTML code within the template.
Go to RSRT and select HTML from the dropdown and then give the following line in the text box below :
&template_id=<your template Technical name>
Also try clearing your HTTP cache in SMICM and then try...

Checking Query and Web Template Authorizations

Hi, I have some code that does an authority-check to determine if a user has access to a specific query.
AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'S_RS_COMP'
ID 'RSZCOMPID' FIELD '__________'.
I need to be able to test to see if a user has access to a specific Web Template.
Any ideas how to do this?

1. Find the roles a template is assigned to : Yes, use AGR_1251 table.
2. Find the roles a user is assigned to : Yes, use AGR_USERS.
3. check if the user has the role the template is assigned to? by joining both the tables.
By using these tables, programatically you can check it.
You cannot check this using C-Command AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT. As this checks only the authorizations for the user who is executing it. This command is more useful in the following scenario.
Eg.In BW if you have written a program for some reasons to read the values of an ODS active table. On this ODS you have authorization relevant infoobject. Lets say profit center. In order to check the profit center that the user is assigned to and populate the data for only profit centers for which he is eligible to view the data.

How to change thousands separator in IP Web-template?

Hi all,
Situation: in IP web-templates (planning format or report) I see values of key figures in format like 12,345,678.99 . But I need replace comma thousands separator to space: 12 345 678.99. How to do it?
What has been done: in su01 I've tried to change 'Decimal notation' from '1,000.00' to '1 000.00', but this setting doesnt have any influence on appearance of key figures values in my IP web-templates.
Any comment and ideas are welcome.

I think you probably got to play around with the objects of javascript and uncheck the apply formatting option of the table i.e dataprovider item otherwise the settings will have no effect on the dataprovider.

Calling a function module from a Web Template

I need to call a function module from a web template. Any pointers on how i can do this ? Is this even possible ?

Hi Rael,
We were finally able to call a FM module from the Web. The trick as Heike suggested was to create an ABAP class which inherits from CL_RSR_WWW_HELP_WINDOW. Then you should modify the process_cmd method of this new class in order to call the FM. Now use this class to create a help service. In case you need to pass any parameters to the FM, you will need to pass them as additional parameters while calling the help service.
An example is below.
CMD=PROCESS_HELP_WINDOW&HELP_SERVICE=ZBOOKMARKING&TEXT=mytext&URL=myurl
Where mytext and myurl were the parameters i pass to my FM and ZBOOKMARKING is my help service.

Security for creating web templates using web application designer

I work for ChevronTexaco as a BW Security Analyst. I have a request to set up roles for web template creation using the Web Application Designer. Where can I get help in setting up the security for these types of roles? My experience is in setting up roles for running and creating queries in BEX. I need to know what additional authorizations will enable web template creation. Setting up a trace in ST01 has been less than helpful since it dumps out tons of RS_COMP tracing that doesn't help me much.
The user wants to be able to create web templates for existing queries in BEX and restrict by rs_comp infocubes/areas/reportid, etc. and to be able to save to restricted role names. Are there new auth groups specific to this type of activity that I need to code for in addition to the basic end user or report builder authorizations?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Marc, I'll check it out. My problem was that I was trying to create the role by granting a userid sap_all, sap_new and s.a_system as well as power user auths for a specific application. I set up a trace in ST01 for authorization cking on the ID while one of our BW Central Support people went into Web Designer to create a template and everything else they wanted to do.
The resulting trace spewed out so much stuff from S_RS_comp and comp1 as to be virtually useless since it named scores of different cubes and infoareas that the analyst wasn't even interested in. The results puzzled me and made it extremely difficult to pin down the required authorizations. Usually ST01 can be used as a blueprint to create the role,ie; everything that the user touches is traced but no more than that. Have you seen this before? With just the new role I had set up the user could not save to a role unless I coded the fully qualified role name such as YRH_SENDAT_USER. YRH* would not work.
