Web Template log out option

Hi,
I'm new to web templates. I don't know how session is controlled on a web template. Does anyone know how to enable or create a log out option on a template?

1. I have a ROLE MENU item on a page, and I tried to insert the link you gave me somewhere before the ROLE MENU item, but for some reason, it doesn't show up when I loaded the page on the browser. Do you know why?
2. Could you point me to a good reference for complete BW web functions, like the log out code you gave above? Where should I look for these?

Seeing two Log Out options!!

In the last couple of weeks, upon going into the Apple menu, I've been seeing two "Force Quit", "Sleep", Restart", "Shut Down" and "Log Out" options! How do I fix this?

Adding Log Out option?

On my MacBook when I press the power button I get the dialogue: "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?" with four buttons: "Restart", "Sleep", "Cancel" and Shut Down". I would like to supplant the "Sleep" option with Log Out, is this possible or at least to add an option for Log out?

Bummer. I just like to press the power button and use the options that way, I don't see why its absent. I would have liked to substitute Sleep or one of the others because I have a hot corner for that or I could just close the lid of my MacBook if I wanted to go to sleep. I know that the OS is for all computers but for MacBooks it could modify itself.

Web Authentication: Log out Window

Someone using the wireless network has spotted the text in the logout window that says 'You can now use all our regular network services over the wireless network.'
On our wireless network you cannot not as you are outside of our corporate firewall.
Is there a way for me to modify the text that appears in the log out box?

'Data' option in Web template

Hello Experts
We have a web template with the option to pre-calculate the data and store it. Under 'parameter' tab of the web template, in the top left corner, i have the option 'Calculate' - and there are four options available to store the data after the query is executed
1)Data
2)HTML for Web Browser
3)HTML for Pocket IE
4)EXCEL
I would like to know - when i select the option 1 'Data' where does the data get stored? Is there an internal table where this result is stored? If yes i would like to know which table is this and how can i access it and the data in it.(in case there is a special way to access the table other than SE16).

Not sure how the key gets generated which is used to import data from cluster. You can use external break point in this method and run your webtemplate with precalculated data to see what does the key constitue of . With ABAP once you have data in internal tables you can do whatever you like but why would you use precalculated web template to read data from one info provider and write to another cube. There are other ways like APD ( Write output of a query to ODS ) or data mart to achieve the functinality you want.

Cannot restart - log out or shut down...VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't restart, log out or shut down my power book g4. I have always done it through the apple display cinema to which is connected but when I hit the side button on the apple display, nothing happens the light on the bottom-right corner dims but no window pops up with the usual shut down/sleep/log out options.
Even if I try directly from the menu...nothing works except the sleep option.
I tried as well directly from the power book after having it disconnected from the display, does not work.
Disk permissions are repaired, but it did not help.
PLEASE HELP HELP!

Hmm, sounds to me like a software issue. Maybe something is installed which prevents the shutdown. It could be harware (peripherals) too. Try without any connected peripheral (display, usb/firewire-devices, etc.). If that does not work try adding a new user account (you can call it "test") via System Preferences and see if the problem is the same with this user.

BEx WAD - How to pass filter values to another Web template

Hi,
I have a scenario here...
Web Template 1:
- Filter options, Filter on Characteristics
- Button, this button calls Template 2 sending the parameters selected vía URL to filter the report.
Web Template 2:
- Tables and graphs
Values selected in the Filter of Template 1 and using javascript it should generates a URL, which filters the second template i.e. Web Template 2.
Can anyone please share javascript to achieve this...

Hi Anil,
I tried this and could not get it to work. so if you find away through Java script then I would be very interested.
There is an option called TRANSFER_STATE which supposedly lets you pass variable names in this scenario but I could not get it to work.
In the end I created one template with all graphs etc. When you click the button to show the other template all tables and graphs in template 2 are shown and everything from web template 1 is hidden. This worked fine.

An AIM service error occurred, but where to Log-Out ?

Here's a real basic question, due to be a head-slapping "of course !" ( I hope )
I just got Leopard last Sat, my brother Jim tonight, and he suggested an iChat so he could show me what was different on a big ol' MacPro.
There was a lot that mystified us about iChat on Tiger, let alone it's beefed-up Leopard incarnation, so I looked into it and got enough of the "An AIM service error occurred. So many flummoxed by the same deal. But here's my problem & where I'm stupidly stuck :
To follow the suggestion & change server-ports, one must log out, but aside from Log-In being greyed out, I can find nowhere *to log out !* !!
It's one a' those really annoying Catch-22's too.
I have to log out to change the server-port, but can I change the port when logged-out ??
And where the *@#% is the log out option ?!

This time I went in, clicked in accounts from .mac to MoblieMe ( all I have is .mac and Bonjour . . . no AIM, which I thought I did ! ), but I decided MobileMe was likely not so "stable" and I switched it back to .mac. I checked Server Settings and I wasn't greyed out.
I switched it to 443, pioked around a bit, and now I am greyed out again !
I am also completely confused, if it ain't obvious !

Web Template Pre Calculation

Hi,
We have six chart items in one web template. Out of these six charts we want to run pre calculation for only two Charts as these are quite slow. Is there any way to achieve this.
can control query or variable help us in this matter?

You cannot select individual data providers to be pre-calculated, the whole template will have to be cached.
Work around is to have the slow charts in a seperate frame and use iFrames to integrate it with the main template which has the rest 4 charts.
The best soltn is to pre-calculate the whole template..

Dock loses magnification after log out

When I log out and back in, my dock loses magnification. I have to reboot the computer to get it back. This has been happening since Lion and continues in Mountain Lion. This makes the "log out" option essentially useless for me. Any suggestions?

Just hold the Shift key down while booting up, it'll ask you to login, at worst, if you get lost you can just restart or power down.
Another method in case it's better for you...

2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

Heat while logged out

Hello, I have a Macbook Pro, 2.5GHZ. I have the automatic log out option. When I return to the computer the next day, it is very hot but still logged out. If it is logged out, there shouldn´t be any programs running. Any way to get it cool again???

My fault, the energy preferences were set to better performance, that´s why it didn´t go to sleep. All ok now.

Safari Automatic Log out??

We have our iMac set to log out automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity, but lately it has been shutting down everything we have open including Safari and iPhoto which can be very annoying when you're working on a project or keeping tabs on an auction, etc. Question is, how can we get the computer to "time out" and require a password to log back in but still keep our programs open? Essentially, like "locking" a Windows computer... or is there a separate option to close programs automatically also that we might have accidentally activated?

I do not know much about "locking" a PC, hvdel, but if you are still using Snow Leopard, in System Preferences, in the Security pane, under the General tab, there is a setting to automatically log out after X minutes of inactivity. Near the top of that pane, there is a check box that allows you to require a password after sleep or the screen saver begins.
If you log out, any open programs must close. However, you can put the computer to sleep and that will not quit any programs.
So what you can do is uncheck the automatic log out option and instead use the Energy Saver options in System Preferences to put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes. Then you can go to the General tab in the Security settings pane and check the box requiring a password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins.
Then the computer will go to sleep, but no one can wake it up without a password. So, in effect, you are locking the computer without logging out.

I just want my tabs to load for the web link they were originally set for. Instead I am getting the last page visited or the tab has been logged out.

Can't click on certain options like log-out, that are usually located at the top of a website. They are frozen, and firefox doesn't allow me to click on them. It works fine with other browsers.

For example, if when I use hotmail, I cannot click on the options that appear in the upper portion of the page. Example, "menu" "help" "log-out". Same thing happens to facebook, so i can't see my notifications, or log out. When i try to click on them, nothing happens. I tried using facebook and hotmail with other browsers, and it works fine. I don't understand why i can't click on certain things with firefox. I haven't recently made any changes to firefox, and it is the lastest version. I also tried uninstalling, and installing again, but it didn't fix the problem.

laderamacguy took a look at it and added a black shape over the tab. he suggested i use a different template next time, such as the black template.

Web template - Drop Down Box options - Issue

<b>Requirement:</b> We need drop downboxes for Fiscal Period and Version in our web template. When the query is run, users will choose one fiscal period and one budget version (there are multiple budget versions - 1. Original Budget, 2. Revised Budget 3. Consensus)
After the query is run, users should be able to see data for any of the past 6 periods and any of the budget versions. So in the drop down list for fiscal period, he should see previous 6 periods and in the drop down for Budgets, they should see all the budget versions.
If the read mode is set to "Posted values", then only the values user chooses for the variables at run time will be shown. If the read mode is set to "Dimension table" it'll show all the available periods from the transactional data, which is unacceptable. We also tried the option "Can be changed during Query Navigation" but it will not work the version drop down box as it'll show all the available versions (actual, plan, forecast along with the different budgets)...
So, is there any other way of solving this issue? By any Javascript?

For the Fiscal Period variable, I created a new variable and checked the option "Can be changed during Navigation". Then the drop down will be populated with all the possible values. This is how the Fiscal year/ Period combo will work. We'll have two variables. Fiscal year is fixed and we won't have a drop down box for it. So user can not change the year after the query is run. But he can see data for any of the 12 periods of the year he selected.
But there is a catch. This is not exactly what we are looking for. For example, if the user initially selects Year 2005 and period 10, then he can see all the previous 9 period of year 2005 (also periods 11 and 12). No problem there. But If the user initially selects year 2005 and Period 1, then he expects to see previous periods. But since year is fixed, when he selects period 12 from the drop down list, it'll show him period 12 of 2005 instead of 2004.
To avoid that problem, we can also put a drop down box for year, but that will become too complicated, as the all the possible years will show up in the drop down. Still trying to figure out a solution around it. Also same problem arises for Version. We only want to see two versions of the Budget. But it'll show them all the possible versions including forecast, actual etc.
Any insight is highly appreciated.

I has the same problem working on BID.
Either you need to save the template with a new name or do it under BIP.
It worked after for me.
That's why I only do my templates under BIP now.
I guess a new support package corrects this error.
