Web videos cause XFi Screeching and don't p

Hi,?Don't know if this an X-Fi issue or not but I am unable to watch online videos (whether QuickTime,? Flash, etc). The video loads but all the while i get the incessant screeching and popping suffered by so many X-Fi users (myself included when trying to play music). Once the video has loaded it fails to play at all, sometimes I can be lucky and get a few sconds of it but then it freezes and refuses to play any further. I have recently dumped Vista and reinstalled Win XP Media Centre because I used to get no problems in that before - with Vista I had screeching/popping in games and music, and 00% CPU usage causing sounds to be delayed by minutes. Now I'm having the same problems with XP.
I have had my X-Fi Fatality Champion swapped under guarantee in the past because of the screeching, but that made no difference. Any ideas??Colin?Specs:? There shouldn't be any "steps" if you've downloaded and run the DMG installer because it's a complete installer and either runs or doesn't in my experience. I've run into the Step 3 failure myself but only when the download and installation is being done through Adobe's Get Flash Player website, which using the DMG file avoids. You do need to have all browsers and System Preferences closed when you run it though. And you can delete all the other Flash downloads.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

Apple DVI to Video Adapter do's and don'ts

I just got the 15" and am using a monitor for extended desktop. I cannot find any description on whether or not the computer and/or monitor needs to be on or off to plug or unplug the DVI to Video Adapter or whether or not it matters. Any steps and best practices or steps or cautions would be appreciated.

I had a MBP core duo for 7 months and always hot plugged the dvi to vga adapter when I was at my desk. I did this every day and other than the occasional times when the software or hardware switch got confused, i found that there was no issue. The OS usually responded to the connection and knew that an external tft had been connected.
I must have done this 100 times or more.
My advice from experience is that you have nothing to worry about. Hot swapping the dvi is fine.

H.264 web video loses audio sync and freezes frame in JW media player

Hi,
I am trying to put my H-264 video (.mov) that I compress with Compressor on the web to play in JW media player. The problem is, after 30 seconds of smoothly playing, the video starts to lag, freezes frames and ever since then the audio do not sync with the video anymore (can be as far apart as 10 second). Strangely, this only happens on the longer videos.
I am assuming it has something to do with the compression setting that makes the file is too big and thus create streaming bottlenecking? Maybe I should readjust my parameters?

Thanks for the input. What do you mean by encoding it as H.264 not mp4 - which setting affects that?

All my pictures in my photo album seems to have greyed out and not loading up, is there a setting that I may have pressed or something like that?

I would first start with forcing all open applications to close and power cycle the device. Test opening the Photo App on your device to see if they load. If the issue persists, see the second article below.

XFi Fatality - possible fault. Screeches and p

Hi,
I have a Fatality Pro which most of the time works well, but at random times (can be during games or just whilst using windows) starts to screech and whistle. It sounds like a radio being tuned in. This is under Vista Ultimate with all updates applied and latest drivers. Xfi software from Creative Vista CD and updated. Everything used to work fine under XP MCE so i thought i'd dual boot but the same thing happens with XP now. The only hardware thats changed as far as XP is concerned is my graphics card - going from Nvidia 6600 to ATi 950 Pro AGP versions. Could this indicate a fault with my card?(Full spec:? Asus P4C800 Deluxe mobo, P4 3.06GHz, 2GB RAM, ATI 950 Pro 52MB AGP, Hauppage WinTV Nova 500, XFi Fatalty Pro)?Any ideas/suggestions greatly apreciated. Ive got the same problem with my Extreme Gamer, as covered in another post. Creative has been unable to help me, seems they just think" sucks to be you, haha!". Suggestions have come that it might be an issue with X-Fi and AGP cards, or with Asus motherboards. My problem happens mostly when i have had, or having some kind of music player (Winamp, WMP or so) running. But so far nothing has helped. Replace motherboard or ditch the card maybe?Regards,Z

No. Photo stream only streams photos, not videos. To transfer videos between your devices you can either import them to iTunes and sync them, or (more conveniently) use an app like PhotoSync or Bump.

Only the original cellular provider can authorize unlocking. You will need to contact them to determine if they offer unlocking and if the phone qualifies.

from a time machine partition.
TimeMachine is only a backup and restore, it won't fix issues in software and according to your information, doesn't even optimize the restore for best performance on boot hard drives.

There shouldn't be need to reinstall OS X fresh unless your having file structure issues which if they are should appear when in the Steps, which then a zero erase and install will cure as well as any bad sector issues, the defrag step wouldn't be necessarry on a freshly installed system obviously as the files are written all together, not in portions all over the drive.

there are three displays in photos page:
1) thumbnails grid - smallest
2) deatial view and detail view slideshow - large
3a) pop-up slideshow - vary - this is slideshow.html
3b) or iphone/ipad slideshow phoneshow.html - iphone/ipad can't do pop-up
it's difficult to know which you refer to.
if you refer to pop-up slideshow then you should not look into iwebmediagrid.js as wyodor suggested.
instead look in phoneshow.html and change width and heigth of element id slideshow:

I was a kid when I made a documentary for a school project. I've been trying to figure out how to retrieve the file. 4 years ago, I was able to get the files off the Iomega Zip drive (finally), but I now see the file is saved as a .A4P. There is also a file saved as a .PKG as well, but I don't know how to open this with my Windows 8 COmputer.

.a4p is an Authorware v.4 (Windows) project.
Interesting you have it as a .pkg...usually that's a published-on-a- Mac extension, if I recall.
At any rate, can you put the file up on a Box, Dropbox, FTP, etc...and send me a URL?
I should be able to published it so you can view the project (it would be an .exe).
It can't be converted to anything though - not without manual effort.

you update it by connecting it to a computer running itunes and starting itunes up on the computer clicking on it in devices and clicking on the update button in the content menu
if it say you have the latests then it's because you don't own an iphone 3gs but an iphone 3g where the version 4.2.1 was the last released
in that case you can't ever update it
