Web viewer features

As already mentioned in another post, a web viewer that scaled with the size of the browser would be a great addition - currently using digify for a client and would love to move over to dps as we use it for everything else but the lack of scaling/responsiveness is holding us up as they support it. Are there any plans to add this sort of feature to the web viewer for dps?

Hello,
I upgraded today to Drop 21 tools and created a new custom content viewer to test my folio on iPad.
After re-publishing the whole folio, I can view it again in Web Viewer ("Adobe Content Viewer for Web").
A few problems remain:
- Images sequences not working (seems that they should, see bottom of the page)
- embedded (in MSO) buttons (leading to prev/next state) not working
What can I do now?
I've got on a page a 5 states MSO.
Each state contains next/prev/close buttons
States 3,4,5 contain an "auto launch" image sequence.
Everything works fine on iPad, of course
An idea, anyone?

  • Web Views Still Don't Auto Update in Keynote '08

So much to my disappointment, the web view feature still doesn't auto update in a self-running presentation. The web views still only update when you first open the document, and then not until you close it and re-open it again.
We have a kiosk at our company that shows slides with websites that have information that change during the day. Unfortunately it only shows the website's state as of when the document was opened, but it doesn't update as the presentation runs throughout the day.
Dang!!! I thought they were going to fix this.

It looks like this is an "as designed" feature. It updates the web view when the presentation launches, but won't do it each time it cycles through.

  • Web Viewer links through https ?

I'm working with a client on their DPS apps and they want to install Web Viewer features. Now I'm not completely familiar with the technical ins-and-outs of the Direct Entitlement server and its requirements, but they mentioned their IT department isn't happy with this feature running off insecure http protocols, in stead of https. (All their web services run on https.) Does this remark make sense ? Did they overlook some option in the implementation of it all ? Or is https support indeed still something to be waited for ? (Many other services of DPS are supported by https.)

    Hi Sanoosh,
There seems to be a routine problem with Adobe on HTTPs even when it says HTTP/HTTPS in dataconection.

  • How to hide "View in Browser" and "Edit in Browser" from ECB injected by Office Web Apps Feature

    Hi,
i am currently using custom_AddDocLibMenuItems to implement a custom ECB menu for my document library. I need to activate Office Web Apps. My custom_AddDocLibMenuItems has two items
    -> custom dialog
-> open in office web apps
After activating the Office Web Apps Feature at the SiteCollection Level, this Feature "injects" in my custom menu the following
    additional menu items:
    -> View in Browser
    -> Edit in Browser
Its curious to see that, cause implementing the js function custom_AddDocLibMenuItems with
return true should be the way to impolement a custom ECB menu without having other features/solutions injecting things in this menu!? Or did i misunderstood something here?
My question is: How can i prevent this ...
    a) without deactivating the Office Web Apps Feature
    b) without modifying the core.js
    I hope someone can help!

  • "Fast Web View" not supported in Acrobat X plug-in for FireFox/Chrome

The Acrobat X plug-in for displaying PDFs in FireFox/Chrome does NOT support fast web view.   This means that PDFs don't display until after the entire file has been download.
For example, try viewing this document in either IE(Windows) or Safari(Mac):
    http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/pdf/PDFReference.pdf
Notice how it opens very quickly, and then you can scroll around and view all the content as the PDF content strreams in?  In Safari you can see the download progress like you used to be able to see in all versions of the acrobat plug-in.  Note also that in the IE version, although fast web view is working, you cannot see the download progress like you used to be able to... Thats an issue, but not nearly as bad as the real issue...
Now try clicking the same link in either FireFox or Chrome (note that in Chrome you need to be sure that Chrome's PDF viewer is turned off and the acrobat plug-in is enabled).  Note that the PDF is not displayed until the entire file is downloaded.
This feature is VITAL for viewing large documents online.  I'm astonished that this has not been reported by other users.
Adobe -- PLEASE be sure that this gets fixed in the next update to Reader X!!  I was shocked to see that it was not fixed in 10.1.

WHY would you want to disable this? Linearized "Fast Web View" enabled PDF are the right and proper type of document to be created.

  • Fast Web View breaking links/bookmarks in PDFs from Word 2007

I'm running Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 on WinXP, and I recently noticed an issue with PDFs that I'm creating from Word 2007. If I turn on the setting "Save As optimizes for Fast Web View," any links or bookmarks in the file break when I do a Save As. If I turn the setting back off, Save As doesn't break them.
I had had problems creating the PDFs using the PDFMaker plug-in for Word, so I used the Save As PDF or XPS feature from Microsoft instead.
PDFs created using FrameMaker are not giving me problems.
I don't know whether this is related, but the Settings button on the Save As dialog box is no longer active. I'm sure I was able to click it before, but I can't now. And that goes for PDFs from Word or FrameMaker.
    Anyone have any clues?

This is related to a bug in the direct PDF output from Word 2007. I was told that Microsoft has fixed this bug in the final SP2 release (so when the service pack becomes available, this problem will not be present).
Until then, the workaround is indeed to turn off the "Save As optimizes for Fast Web View" preference in Acrobat (Edit > Preferences > Documents, under Save Settings).

  • Viewing and purchasing on Desktop / Web Viewer Question.

I understand that if you share free content via your iOS app it can be viewed in a browser (with some features missing like swiping of images .)
    My question is this....
I have a Professional account... Can a person purchase the magazine and view the whole magazine via a Desktop computer with the DPS Web Viewer? Or its only limited to free content on your web browser but they have to have a iPad to view the whole mag?  Do they get full access on the desktop if they purchase.
    Thanks
    Ron

For a professional customers, only the free content that was shared can be viewed on the web viewer/desktop. For enterprise customers, restricted content can be accessed via entitlement using the Content Viewer for Web SDK

  • Hyperlink & Web View

In the new InDesign 5.5, the Hyperlink & Web View only seem to be able to work in the preview of Overlay Creator's window / panel.
But when I preview it through Folio Builder and the iPad, both of this interactive overlays doesn't work.
The rest of the features like Pan, Video etc all work though.
    Can someone please help?
    Thank you!

No problem! glad it worked. I forgot to mention the workaround for your Page hyperlink object
You can just create a URL button that links to the page within the article.
You do this the same way you did the jump to another article by replacing URL with "navto://articlename" but now we add "#" and the page number.
For example to jump to page two you replace URL with "navto://articlename#2".
I tested this method so it should work.
    Good luck and Best regards

  • View Report in Web Viewer Error

I am using Eclipse 4.3 Kepler with BIRT 4.3.2 on a 64-bit machine running Windows 7 and Java 8.
When I select Run -> View Report -> In Web Viewer I get the following error message:
    HTTP ERROR: 500
    Problem accessing /viewer/frameset. Reason:
    Server Error
    Powered by Jetty://
    How can I fix this?

    Thank you for the link.
Setting up BIRT Viewer to work with a local instance of (say) Tomcat, using a workspace that Tomcat can access, etc., is not quite the simple solution I was hoping for.
We do use BIRT Viewer to render our reports in our application - and we use the Ant "sync" task to update reports (from an Eclipse workspace to a Tomcat webapps context) during development, which is a good workaround for when a BIRT report is already wired into an application that can (in turn) be used to invoke the report. (You do not even have to re-start Tomcat to see the changes, which is cool.)
What I was hoping for was a standalone solution whereby a developer does not need to be running Tomcat (or any other Servlet container) with BIRT Viewer deployed, etc.
I am sure that at one time the BIRT Viewer feature worked out-of-the-box, but I could be wrong about that.

  • Web Viewer stettings

    Hi guys !
I'm working on adobe web viewer and I wanted to know if I can change its size.
I use a 768x1024 iPad rendition and when it display on a computer screen it's too big and I need to scroll down to see the bottom of viewer.
Can I change viewer size in source code or do I need to publish a new rendition with a lower size.
    Regards,
    Franck Soulier
    Edit : 2 screens
    What I have :
    What I need :
I zoom out at 75% in my browser to get my last sreenshot

Thanks for that quick answer !
I'll make a special web viewer rendition.
But I have a new question about renditions.
Is there a way to avoid all those copy/past for each article's descriptions, title, etc.
Every month I'll make 4 renditions (iPad, iPad retina, Android, and now web viewer). 3 fields (heading, title and descriptions) to fill for each articles (about 50 per folio) in folio producer.
That means 150 copy/past per rendition, 150 x 4 ! 600 ! And I don't count all the 200 images I need to upload for feature summary. It's really take a very long time each month...
Is there a way to fill all those descriptions once and for all ? Perhaps in indesign file...

    Franck

  • Only allow employees to access article on Adobe web viewer

I have an article that is on http://contentviewer.adobe.com.  If I set the article to Free, then
everyone can access to the magazine.  I would like to have this article access by company employees only.
Can anyone tell me if this is possible?
    Thanks in advance,

I believe you can do this if you do a custom web viewer with direct entitlement to restrict access to the content. This is an DPS Enterprise feature.

  • Web Viewer-only renditions for Creative Cloud Subscribers using v26

Hi does anyone know if it is possible, or will be possible to create Web Viewer-only renditions if you are a Creative Cloud / Single edition DPS user using the latest v26 build?
Most articles don't clairify which membership option their instructions pertain to. -Thanks!

Creative Cloud / Single Edition customers don't have access to the web viewer at all, so the web viewer only rendition feature isn't applicable.

  • Web viewer resolution and workflow ideas

    hi,
i made a pubblication for iPad with resolution of 2048 x 1536px (ipad retina ready) and now I enabled the web view so I can see that pubblication on the web.
the problem is that the resolution (2048 x 1536) while works great on iPad and iPad retina, doesn't work on the web since the viewer doesn't scale to fit the browser window.
I'm trying to figure it out how can I make available the same publication without doing all the layout work in indesign (some folio are really complex, so this could be really time consuming) and I ho pe someone else had the same troubles before to give me an adivce.
    my ideas are:
    1. create a copy of my articles, and scale the contents page per page to a smalle size (for esample grouping all the objects on the page and scaling them down. I'm not sure this will work well with texts);
    2. leave the articles like they are and work on the web viewer, making the web viewer scale to fit the contents (for example embedding the webviewer in an iframe, or other ways).
I'm asking you some tips, if you have any.
    thank you very much!

You can add the 2048x1536 documents to any folio size with a 4:3aspect ratio. (Bob will likely tell you that there is no reason to create 2048x1536 layouts/folios; better to use 1024x768.) the way I see it, you have two options.
Create a 1024x768 rendition with Web Viewer Only selected. That way, that folio appears only in the Web Viewer, which means you can provide a different experience for unsupported features such as panoramas or camera effects.
    Create a single 1024x768 rendition.
