WebCache looses connection to Origin Servers regularly

We have one standalone instance of WebCache (9.0.4.1) balancing the load between two instances of application server.
On “Origin Servers Statistics” page of WebCache Administrator site I see that WebCache regularly marks Origin servers as restarted (?): “Up/Down” field shows - “UP” status, but field “since” shows relatively recent time – as if origin server has recently restarted. This situation may be shown for one or both servers. In fact origin servers work smoothly for a long period of time.
Today I’ve observed the symptoms of this behavior of WebCache from Origin Server side (by monitoring processor load from the servers’ console): after the period of moderate load, requests to the servers stops (load have fallen down to zero) and after the time (approximately 5 seconds – which is correlate to “Keep Alive” parameter of WebCache) requests to the servers starts again (load have grown to the standard level).
Is this issue of miss configuration of WebCache instance? Or is this some internal error? Where do I look in configurations/logs?

Hi,
What are the values for the 'Ping URL' and 'Ping Interval' (in the 'Origin Servers' page in Webcache's Admin UI/Web Cache Manager)?
You can also check Web cache's event log and Apache's log to check what actually has happened.
Hope this helps.

  • Sendmail in Solaris 10 - 554 Too many connections from origin

I recently upgraded a server from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. One of the apps that worked fine on S9 is now having a problem. I believe I have discovered the cause, but I'm not having any luck coming up with a solution.
The app in question queries a database for a list of e-mail addresses (all within our own domain) and then sends e-mail to each user. The messages are sent to our Barracuda firewall/spam filtering appliance, and it relays the messages on to our Exchange server.
The problem that arose after the upgrade is that sendmail is opening too many concurrent connections to the Barracuda, and the 'Cuda is replying with "554 Too many connections from origin".
I see that there is a sendmail configuration parameter "SingleThreadDelivery" that will only allow one connection to the Barracuda at a time. That appears to be overly restrictive, though.
My question is this: is there a way to tell sendmail to only allow some number of concurrent connections to the 'Cuda so as not to hit this limit?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Glen,
    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I did look at those, but my understanding was that those parameters effect inbound connection and in our case, the problem is that we want to limit the number of outbound connections.
As it turns out, the S10 upgrade was not the cause of this problem. At the same time that we upgraded we also added a second network interface (and IP address). Unknown to either myself or the current Barracuda admin, the old IP had been configured into the 'Cuda so that rate limits did not apply. The fix was to add the second IP, too (well actually, he decided to open it up to all of our servers' internal IPs).

  • Connecting two Central Servers??

    Mohan,
    More info may be beneficial.
If you are trying to share service objects across two environments, you will
    need to create
a reference partition. If the two different Central Servers are truly on two
    different machines,
    you can connect their environments.
If it's a matter of having your app on one server and the database on another,
    you can
use SQLNET and connect using TNS NAMES.
The forte manuals can tell you how to create a reference partition, connect
    environment,
    etc.
    Hope this helps somewhat.

I have heard about connecting 2 environments. I have never tried it
myself. Here is how you do it.
As long as your second environment has an environment visible service
object and your first environment does not have such an SO with the same
name, you can specify in the FORTE_NS_ADDRESS environment variable of
the first environment, the address for both the environments. This is
what I have seen in some examples
    FORTE_NS_ADDRESS=env1:5000;env2:5000;env3:5000 and so on.
The control will query each environment for the SO.
Hope this helps. Remember, I have not tried it, so I cannot authenticate
    it.

  • CSm loosing connections every 4 hours ?

    Hi,
We upgraded our CSm to V4.2.2 and for one of the VIP, it looses connections to the 4 real servers every 4 hours ! Anybody has any idea what could cause this to happen ? If I use IOS SLB, I do not have this problem...

    Gilles,
The Servers's default gateway point to the MSFC. To get the MSFC to route traffic back towards the CSM when the servers reply, we NAT the connections on the CSM with a NAT pool. and have a route for teh NAT pool on the MSFC to send the traffic back to the CSM...
We tryed changing the arp timeout using the CSM set variable command but still same symptoms... We are using router mode for this one.
All connections to the 4 real servers disapears but the CSm does not report the reals as being out of service. I am assuming the problem is on the CSM but it could be the servers as well. It is just odd that the 4 servers would drop all connections at the same time every 4 hours...And by going back to IOS SLB and not doing any NAT, the problem goes away.
We're trying to get some packet trace to help out the troubleshooting...
    Cheers

  • Keep loosing connection to e-print

    e-print connection won't stay
    This question was solved.

Hello , There are 2 reasons for "loosing connection to e-print" . 1> e-print requires active Internet connection : Please check with your ISP and see if there are any internet issues at their end or with your wireless network. 2> e-print servers do undergo maintenance during which there could be a non availability of e-print services. • 5k iMac looses connection to bluetooth mouse

Brand new 5k iMac looses connection to Apple Bluetooth mouse.
Sometimes it reconnects automatically, sometimes I have to turn it off and on again to reconnect.
It happens all day long. Really frustrating!!!
Anyone knowing if it is hardware or software related?
Any suggestions for å solution is appreciated...

Thank's for your reply rkaufmann87, but it is not setup related.
The wireless mouse worked without any problems om my previous iMac.
On the new 5k, it seems that the Bluetooth-connection disconnects the mouse, without any obvious reason, then reconects after 5-15 sec's.
This happens regularly during the day.
    Both machines is running OS10.10.1

I have it set up like this:  DSL modem handling DHCP to a wireless 4 port router.    Modem is a westell G90-610015-20.

Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up.  It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace)  might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.
For example this what I see
        news.giganews.com
traceroute to 71.242.*.* (71.242.*.*), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

Step two: An original or very old style NID with a spark gap and ground wire can even get spiders in it that could cause an issue. Inspect the NID first before thinking of changes or wiring.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_interface_device
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demarcation_point
Running a good quality wire CAT5, no need for CAT6,  directly to the NID for the DSL modem jack may help. That is what I had done with mine. Depending on the number of loads or amount of wire in the house could also cause issues. But if the user's signal quality is not being pulled low due to a wiring issues, it would usually indicate a problem elsewhere. Unless there was noise being picked up on the premises wiring. Wire DSL directly to the NID and install a filter there for all other in house wiring may help. There used to be available what was called a NID Filter, and I am sure you can still get them.
Ideal Connection if house wiring is an issue, or very old, and lengthy. Install a filter / splitter at the NID.
Run CAT5 directly to the NID location, and install a dedicated jack for the DSL modem.
Remove all in house wiring from the NID.
Connect piece of CAT5 from the NID to the filter / splitter input
Connect all existing phone lines to the phone side of the filter output.
Connect the new DSL CAT5 directly to the NID before the filter / splitter, or to the DSL side of the filter / splitter, depending on the device purchased.
This will take all the existing premises wiring out of the picture unless there is a short circuit or excessive load somewhere in the house.
At this point all the single filters could be removed because the DSL is filtered at the NID.
    http://www.homephonewiring.com/dsl.html
Step three: You can test outbound to Giganews. But giganews has/had a test that will check your inbound connection from their servers to you.
I heard from another user that
Giganews is being watched very closely because of multipart binaries, and pirated material. MP3s and Video Content. 7 years ago you could get 10-20 MP3 albums in a single day, and that was with a 15/5 fios connection. So they started providing an encrypted connection service for an added fee. I have not messed with news groups for a very long time. Now with deep packet inspection, and other enforcement, I would not even think of it. No news I want there. But there may be content that people want? They may even be checking and limiting speed from that domain. Never tested. But let me see. It looks as if reverse trace routes and speed tests are being blocked by Verizon from Giganews to my router.
            Reverse Traceroute
            Tool news.giganews.com
traceroute to *.*.*.*, 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

Step 4: Have the provider run a local loop test to see if any problems are indicated. If there are, then they could run the test with everything in the house disconnected, except the new DSL modem connection. If issues are still indicated, then the DSL provider needs to make connections on the local loop. Another user told me that they had issues when it rained, and it was because construction had left a splice box open on a line somewhere.

  • RV042 - loosing connection

    Hi there.
    My problem is as follows
Setting the device up with static WAN is no problem, I get internet access and everything works perfect - using WAN1.
But when connecting a LAN port to a switch with a dmz lan, the WAN port looses connection
The LAN address of the RV042 VPN Router is set to: 10.10.20.5 with subnet 255.255.255.248
Other equipment is connected to the switch with 10.10.20.6, 10.10.20.4 and 10.10.20.2 with same subnet.
10.10.20.2 is a routing device that connects to 172.16.10.2 and further to 10.10.10.2 (LAN) with servers
The device working mode is currently set as Router. Setting it as gateway makes no difference to the problem.
Can you clarify what goes wrong?
    Regards

    Hi Taras,
As I understand you have Dual WAN and Load balancing , my question do you setup a protocol binding to bind the Voice traffic to go through only one WAN
with protocol binding you can dedicate WAN1 for example for voice Traffic
Protocol binding is working from LAN to WAN under protocol binding setting you have to choose the source IP range , you can have Range of IP for the phone
Destination 0.0.0.0 - 0.0.0.0  and select WAN 1 for example and enable it and save the configuration
Please let me know after your testing
    thanks
    Mehdi

  • Magic Mouse loosing Connection

My magic mouse looses connection with my iMac every few minuites to every few hours.  I have tried replacing the bateries several time.  The only way to make it reconnect is to put the computer to sleep and wake it back up a few times.  What can I do to stop this?

Greetings,  I had the same problem after the original batteries "died". New batteries 100% charged  after 1-2 min mouse lost connection. Tried Setup of bluetooth mouse many times + new batteries - same result.
Tried removal of com.apple.Bluetooth.plist - no difference.
On all my batteries there are a date/manufacturing code stamped in ink under the negative pole . I removed the ink - scraped away with a screwdriver and installed the batteries again. The Magic Mouse is now connected all the time.  This challenge took 3 hrs to solve - hope it will save someone some frustration.

  • TS3048 Wireless Keyboard constantly looses connection

My Apple Wireless Keyboard (Part Number: MC184LL/B) constantly looses connection (as often as once/minute; but sometimes it will stay connected for up to 20-30 minutes before cutting out).
    Details
    >It is 2' from my Macbook Pro.
    >There's a Drobo next to the computer, but the cut-out happens whether Drobo is on or off.
    >Battery indicator says keyboard is 100%.
    >Thunderbolt Display in vicinity.
    >Happens at multiple locations within my house.
    >Error message is "connection lost"
    Suggestions?

    ACTUALLY: Problem is NOT FIXED.
Making the keyboard a FAVORITE helped--the connection goes down less often, but it still cuts-out, sometimes regularly. What else can I try?
Here's an RSSI readout, if that's of any use:

  • Wireless Keyboard Randomly looses connection

Since the last MACOSX update (10.5.4) my aluminium wireless keyboard looses connection randomly (every 3 to 5 minutes). Batteries are charged. Has somebody made same experiences? I never had this before.
    Thanks
    Bernd

I've intermittently experienced this issue as well, in the past, where the the keyboard would keep disconnecting and reconnecting with the computer. Sometimes when it would disconnect, the wireless mouse would start blinking out as well -- i.e., the onscreen cursor/pointer tracking would become choppy and slow, and I would have to turn the mouse off and then back on to restore normal functionality. Ad infinitum ad nauseam.
If memory serves, someone observed elsewhere in this forum that the issue is not, in fact, a malfunction with Bluetooth, but rather overzealous power management algorithms in the keyboard itself (i.e., "It's not a bug, it's a feature!") -- something to do with how the hardware determines the current level of battery charge (as depicted in System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Bluetooth).
Now, this may not work for you, and I'm not entirely sure why it worked for me, but around the time I was experiencing this behavior, I had regular alkaline batteries in my keyboard but nickel-metal hydride (i.e., rechargeable) batteries in my mouse. Once I swapped out the (otherwise perfectly good) regular batteries in the keyboard for the same brand of rechargeable batteries as in my mouse, the connection issues ceased immediately and -- knock on wood -- they have not recurred.
So while I'm not a hundred percent sure my exact solution will work for everyone, I suspect fiddling around with your battery configuration might be a step in the right direction, troubleshooting-wise.

I have just upgraded to Windows 8 and my scyning and upgrading my phone with new apple software fails, Itunes looses connection with the device (phone), cant backup the phone or download new software, is this an issues with Windows

    Hi, stig2013.
I would recommend the steps in the article below.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If you are receiving an error message, find the exact error number that you recieved in the article below and process the steps.
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • How to connect to two servers behind a firewall

Let's say I have a LAN with two independant servers, one at 192.168.2.10 and one at 192.168.2.20
As it is now, I can fwd the 548 port to one server and it works.
Is there a way i could connect to both servers, maybe having one and port 548 and one at 549, so if I connect using the default address, it will connect to server A and to the adress plus the port :549 it will connect to server B
I tried forwarding port 548 to one server and port 549 but for now, my router/firewall complains that I have a port conflict.
What's the simplest way to achieve what I would like.

Oh man, I think I've seen the answer to that in these treads, but it'd be around 20-30 pages back... iirc it would involve editing Hosts' or hppd file... BIG Help I know... but perhaps a real expert will be along shortly!

  • Firewire device looses connection when external screen is inserted into the thunderbolt port? HELP

    HI
I am a recording studio engineer. Ive got a Firewire AD/DA Converter (Focusrite Saffire Pro 56) running from my Firewire port of my MacBook Pro, which is running OSX Mavericks. I've also got an external Screen I want to use as an extended display. I'm using a HDMI cable from the screen to a HDMI to Thunderbolt Converter which I then plug into my Thurderbolt Port.
As soon as I plug the screen in, the Firewire Port looses connection completely and I cant use or even choose the Saffire Pro 56 as audio driver. Another thing happens where the Thunderbolt port replaces the Saffire Pro 56 Driver with the screen as the audio output source.
Please help, there's nothing I can find to fix this.
    Thanks Maurice

You don't mention which model you have, but this is from the M-Audio Firewire 410 Manual Troubleshooting section:
The FireWire 410 has been designed to give you high performance and professional quality audio. It has been tested under a wide range
of systems and operating conditions. In the real world, however, there is a nearly infinite number of possible operating scenarios, any of
which could affect your system’s performance. Much like owning an automobile, “your mileage may vary.” This section can not begin to
cover all possible issues you may encounter, however we want to give you some suggestions on common problems you may experience.
One thing to avoid is connecting too many devices. The FireWire bus is a dependable, high-speed, high-bandwidth protocol which is ideally
suited for digital audio. Nonetheless, it’s important to remember that audio and multimedia streaming places considerable demands on
your processor and the FireWire bus. Although it is theoretically possible to chain many multiple FireWire devices in series, doing so may
    potentially degrade your audio performance.
I guess this degradation could also affect the Firewire HD. Maybe there is a simple fix, but it sounds like the M-Audio people have been down this road before.
