Hi,
the user with username: fooled me into thinking it is a girl, and now has acquired a personal video of me. He/She is now threatening me that they will post the video to porn sites and youtube, if I dont pay them $100. They ask me to send it through Western Union, the person name is[removed for privacy], in Philippines. Also the persons email address is [removed for privacy]
This person is a criminal. What should I do, should I try to meet the demands hoping the file goes away?

Webcam Blackmail Firstly i was on ChatRoulette just looking for some fun as you do. I met a girl on there, starting chatting for 2 min and she asked for my Skype, so instead of me giving her mine, i asked for hers, so she gave it... Sali.Jasmine So i added her, she send me a voice call, i accepted, then she asked me to put on my webcam, so i did, then i asked her to do the same, so therefore she done that as well, we started having a chat, then things got a bit frisky, i showed her stuff, she showed me stuff, but everything happening smoothly just like the fake video was too. Moments later she ended the call, i was like whats happened? Next thing i know, she sends me a Video Call, i open it, then there's me on webcam doing the things i did, i panicked completely, closed the video down, then they send links to my facebook profile and several others such as my dad and other friends, and a load of names underneath and they said if i don't pay them £300 they would share the video on youtube, blog's and send to all of my friends all on facebook. I said 'How could i possibly pay you?' Then they said 'Do you have Cash or Card' so i said 'Cash' they said 'get to a WesternUnion and pay the money in my account within 45 minute's and i wont send video' then they also said 'This is the information that you need' I need Help on this, and has anyone else had this happen to them?

Hello, I felt I had to share my experience which only happened yesterday. I had a similar experience to you. Chatroulette...skype... suddenly boom, you're being scammed and shown an outrageous video link on youtube with the threat of your entire Facebook friends list being sent it. I was panicking in the same way you were, they were demanding I got to Western Union ASAP or the whole friends list would see me doing those things I wished I hadn't done. I was freaking out, shaking, panicking, fearing for my job amongst other things.I bought some time by saying I was going to walk to the nearest Western Union which would take me about 25mins to get there, then about 20mins in the store, then 25mins walking home. During this time, I read up and found that this has happened to so many other people. It was so reassuring to find these community messages on the skype web site where people had shared their experience. Most people's posts are pretty similar, don't pay the b*stards, change your passwords, block the person on all forms of social media, deactivate your FB page for a while etc. However, I feel I can add something quite fresh to the topic and the discussions being shared. So I have a pretty solid open relationship with my mum. The scammer was showing me a screenshot of him typing an inbox message to my mum and getting pissed off that I was wasting his time about payment he sent the message, it was clear as day, I saw the message being typed out in a facebook messenger box. I saw it go, shortly followed by my youtube link showing what I had done. I was mortified. What was worse was that he had typed saying I had been caught doing what I was doing on a gay porn site which had 13yr olds on it!! I rang my mum immediately and explained what was going on... I asked her whether she had received a facebook message, she checked inbox, spam, other etc etc. Nothing received....... I was still panicked and worried that she might have missed it in another message inbox, but she hadn't. There was nothing ever sent. The conclusion I made was that they are powerless, it looks like they are sending these messages but it must be some kind of software which makes it looks just like facebook. As a lot of other people have said, they wouldn't dare to upload your youtube video for long as it would receive copious complaints and reports of spam and inappropriate content etc. My advice is as follows:1. Stay Calm2. Don't Pay3. Buy some time with them (make up something about transferring money taking a while)4. They are preying of fear and panick so don't feed their appetite. Be cool.5. Use your time to block, delete, report abuse, change passwords, deactivate accounts (for an hour or two), etc etc. Once they cannot contact you they lose their only powers.6. So far I haven't needed it, but set up a google alert for 'Your Name Youtube' that way you can know as soon as possible IF they release the video.7. If you are trying to search for your video use the search filter which allows you to search for new videos matching your search description 'today' 'this week' 'this month' etc. I am just thankful that I have such a good relationship with my mum and that I could explain it to her without it being too weird. We are all human at the end of the day, we all have weak spots and all make mistakes sometimes. There are some cruel people in the world, and I just hope that Karma gets them. i have been a fool and caught out on skype web cam were the girl on the other end in gahna has taken pictures of me and is now blackmailing me for money or she will put them in the ---- news and post them on sites on the internet she goes by the name p--- on skype and her email is --- can somone please stop these people doing this and ruining other peoples lifes .

I'm a victim of having my camera video'd and now I'm being blackmailed.

wants 500 usd before they post the video on youtube (note they did send me a link
to the video, which has since been removed by them util I pay) and forward to my
facebook friends. God I feel sick!!!!!!!
And they wanted payment via
westernunion.

hi i know i am stupid to have done this.. guess i got carried away..
i had a caller who said he/she recorded me while i was doing the act..and demanded 500 euros to remain silent else the videos would be uploaded
the person has no access to any of my contacts or identity, and also i have not dropped my pants with my face on.. although there was a brief moment when i showed my face by mistake , but that was from my laptop vga cam(horrible clarity), and i had my pants on..i dont know, does the quality of the video detoriate when captured from "you cam" software? cause if it does.. then i really have nothing to worry about even if they upload it anywhere...
also i did this from a isolated skype account without providing my phone number or email id or real name while signing up.. can they still get my information by any means? by hacking my IP address or something??
please oblige and help me with the information..

im in a skype chat with the user clara zoe right now it is a man from morrocco he has a video of me naked and my facbook and is threatening to show this video if i do not pay him 200 dollars through western union. this is urgent considering i still have him in the chat

This as well has happened to me. The username natacha.henandes1 pulled the same thing on me last night and blackmailed me for $200 which thankfully I never paid as o did not have it. I have done alot of research on this and everyone has said to tell them you are reporting them to the authorities and block delete and report them. As if your Facebook privacy settings are set up they can't do anything and all they have are your top contacts that show up for everyone but they can be blocked and cannot contact your friends.

My integrated webcam doesn't work on new Skype

Hello everyone
A few months ago i refreshed my Skype. On the refreshed version i couldn't use my webcam (USB2.0 uvc vga webcam on ASUS x52f, windows 7). I asked google for solution and i got it: let's install an older version of Skype.
I did so and the problem was solved.
Now that Skype blackmailed me into downloading the newest version (6.18.60.105) the problem is on again. And the solution (installing an older version) is not relevant anymore.
I installed the new K-light codec pack. Still nothing.
I uninstalled and reinstalled my camera and drivers. Still nothing.
So the question is: how to get my integrated camera work on the new and shiny Skype?

Honestly Blackmail is illegal I have had this done before, take pics of all there stuff and all the message the ransom, and everything just everything take a pic save it and alert all the peopl they threaten to contact let them know and tell them they hacked your computer which is anohter crime. So basically yes they can release it but it will be taken down by the authories and the website operators. so basically everyone will alrady know the video is a lie and that the person hacked your webcam and is fblackmailing you then you hold it over there head and tell them you will do and call the autroties of they post it and they will go to jail and that the video will be taken down. You must first do what I previous told you to do Inform everybody of the person and what they have done, and get the messages picturized and saved on your phone computer and pother devices. do not give grund and do not show weakness

I would like to report a webcam recording blackmail one our ago . i was marked by a user named "emilie.puceau". He threatened me to send the video to my fcb contacts, after that i changed my settings imediately on fcb . He is asking for money now . yes and the call was coming from marocco .
I read a lot of other topics of peopple heavimg the same problem .
i would apreciate if u could offer a solution and block him as son as possible .

How do I use my gigaware webcam with my mac? I just bought this webcam on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJE0ISS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF 8&psc=1 and I want to use it with my mac. Is there an adapter or any software to make it compatible? Thanks.

Your amazon link states, in part, that this webcam is:
Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7,Vista, XP, 2000
Use a Mac OS X Compatible Webcam like one of those shown in the linked article instead.
For best compatibility and security, also update your OS X Mavericks (10.9.2) to the current OS X version by restarting Mac and then downloading and installing OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).

I Have an ipad2 and use the photon app to access the webinar training my company provides I have been asked to do some traing but my iPad webcam does seem to work in the app is there a solution to this

My webcam is no longer recognized by my PC

Last night I attempted to use my webcam on my HP Pavillion dv7 Notebook PC as usual and it did not turn on. I've looked through all of the forums and I attempted to find it in the device manager as well as scan for hardware changes but nothing turned up. There was no imaging devices section under the device manager at all. I'm just curious how I should fix this and resolve this issue, I want to use my webcam

My laptop no longer detects my built in webcam

I have an HP G60-635DX notebook. I have a built in webcam which I have used several times before, but now all of a sudden my laptop is not even detecting I have a built in webcam. What to do? I have a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Webcam. It bums me out. It is the only way I can talk to my boyfriend face to face while he is out of town and now it is not even working!

OK, to start with, may I know if you can you check using webcam with Cyberlink Youcam Software & if webcam is listed in device manager under imaging device....
To get to device manager, follow the below steps:
Click on the Start button and then choose Control Panel.
Click on the System and Security icon.
Note: If you're viewing the Large icons or Small icons view of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply click on Device Manager and then proceed to Step 4.
In the System and Security window, click on the Device Manager link located under the System heading.

Unable to capture video from webcam in JMF in xlet

I am unable to capture video from webcam in an Xlet. I am using Xletview to run Xlet. The method CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(vidformat) returns empty array. Which videoformat should I use and why do I get empty array?

MHP and OCAP only use JMF 1.0, which does not include support for capturing video. You will not be able to do this in any current MHP/OCAP imlementation that I know of.
