Webcam in Adobe Connect

I am presenting in Adobe Connect but the small screen is black.  I can see others and my PPP but not myself.  I understand that it might be a fps issue, but cannot find a place to view this.

For assistance with Adobe Connect you need to go to the Adobe website @
http://www.adobe.com/products/adobeconnect.html
Adobe Connect is not a Microsoft product and Adobe has sole responsibility for support of their products.

  • Flash Player 11.7.700.169 crashing when trying to connect Webcam in Adobe Connect 11.2 r261

    Hello,
I hope someone can help me. I discovered this week that I cannot connect my webcam to Adobe Connect anymore. The latter will stop working. If I uninstall Adobe Connect add-in I have the same problem but this time only the flash player crashes.
I tried Firefox 20.1 (latest release), have all the updates  on the Windows 7 Professional (x64), the latest Flash (as you see), the latest Adobe Connect Add-In and the Website runs Adobe Connect 9 as far as I know.
The webcam is working with other software (like skype or on Silverlight). Windows claims that the drivers für the webcam are up-to-date.
I tried to roll back changes on the computer (DELL Latitude E6410 if this is of relevance), installed an older version of Flash etc. etc. No change in the behaviour....
I found some discussions where an xsplit(something) was the problem. I have no xsplit installted.
There logs were asked for. Where do I find these?
I really hope that someone can help me since I need to work with this machine and with the AConnect in several projects. Webcam would really be a treat!
    Best,
    Konwill

    Hello Chris and Sameer,
thank you for getting back on this issue.
    To answer your questions first:
    - no, I have not posted this issue in the connect forums - I will do and point to this discussion
    - Sameer, I have tested the webcam on the website you pointed out, it is not working with Firefox but it is working in Chrome
I also need to give you an update on the current versions I use:
Win 7 Pro (64bit) (all updates included)
    Firefox 21.0
    IE 10.0.9200.16576
    Chrome  26.0.1410.64 m
    Flash Player 11.7.700.202
    Adobe Connect Addin 11.2 r261
I tested the webcam via FP with Firefox, IE and Chrome in the versions mentioned above. Only in Chrome I can run the WebCam on the www.testwebcam.com website. Once I start the adobe connect meeting and want to start the webcam the Connect Addin stops working with the popup as shown in post 3 of this discussion in all three browsers.
All components have been uninstalled and installed again (except for IE)  for testing with no change in the result. I have also rolled back the computer to the system recovery point furthest back in time to see if any other installation might be the cause. But no luck either.
I am happy to post the logs but would need advise where to find these or how to retrieve.
    Thanks!
    Konwill

  • Adobe Connect: how to display a picture in the WebCam pod when not sharing video

Adobe Connect: how to display a picture in the WebCam pod when not sharing video

The WebCam pod can pause a live video showing a static image. However, I believe that you are looking to use a Share pod, where you can upload a JPG or PNG image. Just place the share pod with the image where you would have the Camera pod.

  • What is the maximum number of webcam users in Adobe Connect 9?

I'd like to know how many simultaneous webcam users can Adobe Connect handle. Also, has anyone had any experience using a large number of webcam users? If so, how was the performance? Thanks

What is practical? Probably between 1 and 6 streams can be done with reasonable use of bandwidth. However, keep in mind that you will likely want to use the lowest quality setting for cameras so they are demanding the least amount of bandwidth.
Using the Connect 8 numbers, Low quality webcam video with the room at LAN settings should have an aprox average bandwidth consumption of 184 kbps. From there it is just simple math. 6 live streams at that setting will be 1.1 Mbps. Alternatively, at High quality webcam video and with the room at LAN, each stream will average aprox 501 kbps. 6 streams will average 3 Mbps.

  • Adobe Connect add-in crashes when I click to allow webcam use.

Can anyone please assist so I can use my webcam while on Adobe Connect? Thank you!

The add-in is version 11.2.385 from July 2013. I've tried uninstalling that version and reinstalling an add-in from this page (http://www.adobe.com/support/connect/downloads-updates.html) for Adobe Connect 8. That add-in at least allows me to launch my webcam, but it crashes 10-15 seconds later and Adobe Connect restarts.
With the new add-in (the first one I referred to), the entire Adobe Connect session shuts down when I click to "allow" Adobe Connect to use my webcam. It never starts it at all.
It's crashing with both internal and external cameras. It's more the clicking "allow" that crashes it, I think, because I've tried both. I prefer to use my internal camera on my new Asus laptop.
And WOW, it DOES work as it should when launching in browser. Thank you for that piece of advice.

  • Webcam related behaviour of Adobe connect

I have been using Adobe connect with IE 9 on Win7 32 bit platform and had a couple of queries regarding how adobe connect uses the video capture filters. The flash player version installed is 11.0.1.152.
    a) The filter is loaded up when I click on start webcam and the video preview shows up in the window. The filter receives the stop command when I click stop my webcam. The filter is however not  released until I close IE. This is different from other applications I have tried - Office communicator for example releases the filter when I finish previewing the video. Why is adobe connect behaving differently?
    b) I also noticed a difference in behaviour with two different builds of IE 9. With IE9 v9.0.8112.16421/RTM/KB982861, I notice the video capture filter is loaded only by the process associated with the tab in which I open the Adobe connect login page. Once that process exits on closing that tab, the filter is released. With IE 9 v9.0.8112.16421/9.0.3/KB2586448, I notice the capture filter has been loaded by the first IE process, and not the process associated with the adobe connect tab. Thus, in this case the filter is released only when that first tab is closed. Closing the adobe connect tab does not release the filter. Is there a way of knowing which process in IE will load the capture filter?
    Thanks
    Sumit

No there isn't an add-in for Android.  You shouldn't need the add-in to view recordings, though.  As long as you have the Flash Player installed (10.1), you should be able to view recordings (and any other Flash content for that matter).  The only time you actually need the add-in is if you want to host or present in a meeting (it's used for screen sharing).

  • How can I get my web cam to work in Adobe Connect ?

This is actually an end user's question that I am having trouble answering to...
We use Adobe Connect to give online language classes, the end user is one of the students.
I cannot find the right Support answer to give him.
    Problem:
My camera does not work when I connect to Adobe's rooms but camera works fine with other software.
Even though I suspected my old camera was working fine, yesterday I went ahead and bought a new camera.
I thought perhaps my webcam software may have been a problem, so I bought a different type camera with different software.
Even after removing all the old software, same result:
I surmised the problem might be caused by my firewall and security software, so once I tried changing the permissions for Adobe, and my Webcam, but that didn’t work.
Another time, I restarted my computer right before class and then turned off my firewall completely so there would be no interference but to no avail. I’m totally perplexed.
Isn’t there anyone else experiencing a similar problem?   Has anyone else found a solution?
I run Windows Vista with McAfee Internet Security Software.  I always reboot the computer before class and open no other programs other than Google Chrome.
I now have a brand new Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Camera with LifeCam 3.5 Webcam Software.
I test my camera before going online.  It always works fine.   Then I shut down the camera program and login into class.
When I “connect webcam” in the room, the light on my camera comes on (suggesting that it is ON), but only a black image is transmitted to the room.

Check to see if you have Google Voice installed. If so, remove it and see
if your problem vanishes. If not Google Voice, check to see if you have
any other communications software which interacts with your cam and
disable it. This was the problem I had with a similar problem on a Mac.

Thanks a lot Heyward for the swift reply !
I sent the advice out to the end user, but unfortunately this wasn't the
    solution.
    His reply is below :-
The default resolution of my new camera is already set at 640x360, but I
went ahead and tried several lower resolutions (e.g. 424x240; 320x240; and
160x120) but none worked in the room - camera still showed up as black
blank screen.  Also, as far as I can tell, I don’t have the option of
    adjusting the frame rate.
I started playing around with my Internet Security Settings to see if they
might be playing a role. So far, all to no avail.
Hmm...quite a tricky one - webcams always are - maybe if he can find a way
to adjust the frame rate (?).
He's going to fiddle about with the settings a bit more and see if
    something does the trick.
If anyone has had a similar problem and found an ingenious solution,
please jot on a note on this thread.

  • Video Capture Card for Adobe Connect

Does anyone have any recommendations for a video capture card for the Mac to use with Adobe Connect? I have a HD camera that I want to connect to my Mac through the S video connection on the camera. I need a video capture card that will work with Adobe Connect.

The Video Telephony Pod is the video pod when Video Telephony Conferencing equipment/cameras are configured to talk with Adobe Connect. This was introduced in Connect 8.1 for SIP and H.264  based VTC systems. It will only work with H.264 video streams from the VTC type cameras found in conference rooms. Usually the major players in the U.S. are Polycom and Tandberg.
The VTC Pod appears as a standard pod once the administrator of an Adobe Connect on-premise server has configured the various admin screens and added the SIP addesees to the configuration xml file.
The video quality is different than the webcam video as here is a table:
    Tandberg 990:
    Profile Level At FMG End
    Video Out At Device
    High
    1200.0kbps  448p
    Medium
    600.0 kbps   448p
    Low
    250kbps       CIF
    Tandberg Edge 95 MXP:
    Profile Level At FMG End
    Video Out At Device
    High
    1700 kbps w720p
    Medium
    600kbps    w448p
    Low
    250kbps    w288p
    More information on formats:
    768 x 448@30fps (w448p)
    576 x 448@30fps (448p)
    512 x 288@30fps (w288p)
    352 x 288@30fps (CIF)
    176 x 144@30fps (QCIF)
So, that HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW refer to the Adobe Connect room preference setting for video. Notice that HIGH shows we can deliver 720p resolution.
The normal webcam video pod is locked to 480p (VGA) 4x3 resolution at 20 frames per second but the server admin on an on-premise install  can alter a configuration xml file to go 24 fps but not higher than VGA on the webcam pod.
Probably more than you ever imagined I would share but that's my style.
    Take care.

  • Computer crashing in Adobe Connect when using Mac OS 10.9.3 Maverick

Have been experiencing computer freezing, getting kicked out of Adobe Connect session, webcam and chat box not functioning properly inside Adobe Connect. This has happened since updating my Mac to OS 10.9.3 Maverick. Is there a compatibility issue with Maverick and Adobe Connect? What advice can you offer to users running Maverick?

  • Can we connect a Cisco videoconference system to adobe connect?

One of our participants wnt to use his own CISCO C20 videoconferencing system as a source for better video quality. Is it possible to connect Cisco C20 with Adobe Connect and if "Yes", what are the technical advices for the connection.
    Best regards,
    Martin

If you have an on-premise deployment of Adobe Connect you could see if you could configure to the Cisco system to work through the VTC integration, Configure FMG for a video telephony device. However, the Cisco C20 is not one of the supported systems, so it may or may not work.
If you are on a hosted deployment, then you don't have the above option. You could get the video/audio feed into a computer and display it in the Video pod. This may not improve the video quality as the Video pod is limited to its preset resolutions (up to 240p) and frame rates. You may also need to use DVdriver to get a Windows computer to recognize your video input as a webcam.
Third option would be to explore using one of the external video pods available here, Adobe Connect | Apps. You will likely need to do some setup outside of Connect to get them to work, but it could be worth exploring. There are two there that may work: TalkingStick and tecRacer VideoPlayer.

  • Using Adobe Connect for Tutoring Business

    Hello,
I am starting an online tutoring business, and i would like to use Adobe Connect as the platform for tutoring service.  I would like what are the difference between using Adobe Connect (Enterprise) or Adobe Connect  (Individual).  I would like to input my company's logo in the Adobe Connect, but all i really need for my business is the webcam and whiteboard interface.
In addition, will there be legal problmes if i use Adobe Connect Individual  for my business?
Your comments will be much appreciated!
    Thank you so much!

I'm not sure about the legal concerns around this (I would contact Adobe Enterprise Sales for this), but the major differences are that the individual site has are no customizations and you of course have smaller license limits (one meeting host).

  • Mac: Flash causes "excessive wakeups" during Adobe Connect meetings

I posted a message that can be found here last November where Flash was causing Adobe Connect meetings to crash every few minutes.  Since then, there's a new version of Flash (13.0.0.182) and the school has updated their Adobe Connect platform.  However, the problem is still there.
If it's a meeting with 2 or 3 people everything is fine.  The issue is only present when in a "class" where there are many people (like 8-15) using webcams at once and the instructor is sharing slides or something.  In this situation the meeting window either freezes or restarts every few minutes and upon examining the console log there is a corresponding message stating:
4/15/14 18:57:27.000 kernel[0]: process PluginProcess[1877] caught causing excessive wakeups. Observed wakeups rate (per sec): 172; Maximum permitted wakeups rate (per sec): 150; Observation period: 300 seconds; Task lifetime number of wakeups: 180731
    4/15/14 18:57:27.867 ReportCrash[1980]: Invoking spindump for pid=1877 wakeups_rate=172 duration=262 because of excessive wakeups
This happened when using Safari 7.0.2.  When using firefox there is a similar message (only "plugin-container" instead of "PluginProcess" causes the excessive wakeups.  And with Firefox, the wakeup rate tends to be around 1500, not just 172).
    A couple notes:
    1) I've already gone into Safari preferences and allowed Flash to "Run Always" and "Run in Unsafe Mode" for the domain.
    2) I've already removed the Adobe Connect Add-in to eliminate that as a possible source of the problem.  When I examine the Diagnostic Reports in /Library/Logs it's clearly the Flash plugin that's causing the problem, or some interaction between the plugin and the QT Framework, or something.  I don't know.
    3) I've already contacted Apple and (not surprisingly) they told me it's not their problem and to contact Adobe.
    4) Before someone asks - YES my install of Mavericks is a "clean" install.
    5) Adobe Connect works fine on a windows machine on the same connection.
    6) Troubleshooting steps have included reducing the video resolution, disabling hardware acceleration, deleting the preferences files, clearing cache, clearing local storage from the Flash preferences pane, removing and reinstalling the plugin, etc. etc.
Back when I had Mountain Lion there were problems like this in Safari, and the work-around was to use Firefox or Chrome.  Now it appears it just doesn't work, period.  Has anyone else run into this and is there a work-around?  Thanks.
    -AA

Yep - makes sense, however that box has been unchecked the whole time.  Also the same thing happens in Firefox which would seem to eliminate that feature as the culprit.
After researching "excessive wakeups" on other forums it appears there are some similar complaints about PhotoShop, Final Cut, EyeTV, google earth, basically graphics-intensive programs - I can't find any others about Adobe Connect, although the IT folks at the school have told me it's a well-known issue.  I suspect it has something to do with the way Flash interacts with the frameworks in Mavericks but I'm just guessing -  wondering if anyone else has seen this happen or knows a work-around?

  • Making Recording offline crashes Adobe Connect Add-in.

We are trying to download recordings and it keeps crashing on us.  We can download 1 or 2, then it crashes every time after that (until I reboot).  We are running the Adobe Connect 9 Add-in version 11.9.972.8
I have tried this on Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64.  We have used Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.  All have the same result:

It's crashing with both internal and external cameras. It's more the clicking "allow" that crashes it, I think, because I've tried both. I prefer to use my internal camera on my new Asus laptop.
And WOW, it DOES work as it should when launching in browser. Thank you for that piece of advice.

  • Adobe Connect Add-In ques

Not tech savvy... need to use Adobe Connect for an online class I'm about to start... when I checked my Mac system readiness I got a message that I should Add-In for better service... clicked on link to do so... nothing happened... don't understand what Add-In is (do I need a webcam or something?)... thanx

You will need the Addin in case you want to share your screen. In case you just want to attend the online class without the need to share your screen you can simply open it in the browser. You will just need the Flash Player plugin.
Also please check the following link in case you want to use the Addin on Mac:
