Webcam Instant Software Issue

My girlfriend recently purchased a Webcam Instant, and somehow, in a mysterious event(pun intended) broke the Installation CD before I could install it. Is there a site that I can get the Installation Software from, like a bit torrent, or a virtual drive NFO? Or am I completely in trouble, and just wasted that money? Thanks for the help.

go to this website. search for your down load under support then downloads. You can use your model number to search for your exact product download. my model number was ct6840.

  • WebCam Instant Serious Issues

I just purchased a Web Cam Instant package. There has been nothing instant about this purchase. The install program is klunky at best with instructions totaling 3 mini pages.
I am using the latest version of flash and have never had any other problems on this machine. The machine has plenty of resources and surpasses system requirements in all areas 2-3x.
Upon installation, the camera will appear to work in WebCam Center for a minute or two. This program is mostly useless tho. Within in any other chat area however the camera causes the application to hang, usually requiring a dirty reboot. Even killing the app in task manager is difficult at best.
Yahoo immediately freezes. Other chat rooms allow the camera to be turned on, a few images wil be displayed (poor resoultion, sensitivity and choppy to say the least) then the camera freezes. Windows reports an unrecognized USB device and recommends replacing the device. Once this happens even WebCam center cannot initailize the camera and freezes upon load requiring a reboot.
Upon freezing the entry in the Device Manager disappears and sometimes will not reappear upon rebooting. Whats more, whatever conflict it is, it seems to crash other USB support as well, for example... I can't use my USB printer sometimes until reboot.
I tried disabling other drivers like my Nvidia video capture board with no change in results. I checked the driver version and downloaded the latest driver. There appears to be little or NO support for this camera online. Customer support has been non-responsive. I dont have time for long wait times on the phone... I suppose I could try that tho last time all I got was someone reading from a script who knew less than I did.
Unless someone else has resolved a similar issue I am inclined to return this product. Any ideas out there?

Ok i solved my own problem. If you had the same problem as me, uninstall Quicktime, then try installing everything again. I personally had no problem wityh anything after I did that, and it gave me an excuse to get rid of quicktime. I hate that **bleep** program. Apple, kiss my ass lol.

  • Webcam instant software no longer working

After original install, the program worked great for about two weeks. Then it stopped working correctly.
Problem: It would not record at all.
    Solution: reinstall.
Result: Locked program with partial launch (I could see a scrollbar for the program appear but nothing else)
Solution: Reinstall with as complete erase as I could manage. The uninstall program does not actually uninstall much.
Result: Upon reinstalling (with more than 7 attempts to completely erase this fine program) it is clear that the factory presets are not reset, rather they are set to my previous install. However, I am now able to record. Unfortunately the audio portion is played back first with a frozen image. This portion of the play back is then followed by 5-30 minutes of just frozen image. At the end of the playback comes the actual moving video image without sound.
Solution: Told by helpful Creative people that QuickTime 7 is interfering with webcam software. Uninstalled QuickTime 7 (and subsequently ipod). Then did a complete uninstall (however see above). I then reinstalled.
Result: Same as last result except that I have now lost all my music.
    Any solutions, thoughts?
Yes I have removed all other USB junk. Yes I have cleaned the disk a defragged it. Yes I rebooted. Yes I followed the setup instructions. And yes I read that amazingly fine troubleshooting guide that cam with the CD as well as the equally stellar knowledge base on the web.

i had a similar problem. the video capture mode. it captures a video but wont capture if you enable audio. and then if you add in an audio compressor, it seems to capture the audio first, and then play the video track second. so you see one still, then hear the audio, then the video plays. i messed with all the codecs and to no avail. i dont know what the problem is but it seems to me that creative which is primarily a sound company should figure this out as its pretty lame to have a webcam that wont record videos properly with sound. and can i just say that this site is the hardest to use on the planet. very poor support. you should have some default box or something so i dont have to pick my region ten million times, like an english language opt out thing, its annoying.

  • Webcam Instant fps issues

IN the webcam console, the fps rate is absolutely fine. However, once an online chat program, for example AIM, is used the frame rate drops to about fps.
It looks more like time lapse photography over streaming video. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
When video is used with another person who doesnt have the same webcam, his picture streams in almost perfectly with very few hiccups.
However, his view of me is extrememly glitchy. When i use the camera with my girlfriend, who has the same camera, we both get the low fps and glitchy view.
Thank you for any input and/or suggestions.
    ***EDIT***
I am using windows xp and meet and exceed all system requirements by a significant margin.

    P4: icuuc40.dll P5: 4.0.0.3207
You're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file. (Apple Application Support is where program files that are used by more than one Apple program are kept.) Some XP systems aren't liking the 4.0.0.3207 version of the dll that is included in Apple Application Support 1.5.0.
The workaround at the moment on XP is to either:
    (1) Swap out your existing version of the dll for the 4.0.0.3205 version that was included in Apple Application Support 1.4.1.
    (2) Alternatively, you could download the icu4c-401-Win32-msvc8.zip from:
    http://icu-project.org/download/4.0.html
... extract the 4.0.1.0 version of the dll from that package, and replace your current 4.0.0.3207 with that.
The location of the existing file on your system is at:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\icuuc40.dll
Drag the copy you find there out onto your desktop, and then drag in the version 4.0.0.3205 or the 4.0.1.0.

    Hello,
    When did it last work?
Running a System Recovery to reinstall the OS could resolve the issue if it is in fact a software issue and not hardware. If after Recvoery you are still experiencing this then a service to replace the webcam may be required.

i'll reply since you will most likely get lots of views and NO reply -
i don't know about your internet issue. theres likely some sort of conflict between the drivers and every kind of application used to display web pages. hopefully some person @ creative or some moderator on this forum can help out more with this? anyway, i found a page with the drivers for your camera (model VF0330).

  • Webcam instant failure to install

Hi guys, have just bought the webcam instant which comes with game star games, however neither of the 2 disc start up, each one logging a fatal error message, so i cant even install the software.
    Help please!
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
I have experienced similar problems but have narrowed it down to the next to last level before the BIOS.
In my opinion, the installation problem is due to the last Windows Update.
I can plug and play the webcam and use it in MSN Messenger but Windows does not retain the hardware installation and then everything starts crashing after I reboot. My only option is to perform a System Restore in Fail Safe mode to get my system stable again.
I would wait until Microsoft fixes that which needs fixing and try to install it again after the next Windows Update (probably due in about two weeks from now (2nd Dec 2005))

  • Webcam instant with AIM

I'm having a similar issue. Anyone?

  • WebCam Instant No Video

I just installed a WebCam Instant, and it's working fine on my end, i.e. it captures videos and pix. But when I started video chat session via Yahoo!Messenger, the other party didn't receive the video feed from my camera, although I could see them just fine - I deduce that to mean I have no problem with my firewall. What gives? Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

Have you try using MSN or the webcam software?

  • Webcam Instant Not detected

Just got one of these webcam instants and the thing is not being detected in any way, shape or form anywhere on my PC or with in the software provided. I have downloaded the appropriate drivers from this site and still no go. So with further investigation I found that some times the bios has something to do with this? Somethng about BIOS not supporting this type of thing or getting a USB HUB with its own power source or something? Does this make sense to anyone? Anyway I have tried everything that I can except the USB hub thing (too much hassell and a buncha B.S.) and updating my bios. Im not down for that unless I absolutly HAVE to. Anyway if anyone can shed any light on this I would greatly appreciate it.
    System Specs:
    Windows 2000 Pro
    Abit KG7 Mother Board
    AMD Athlon 00
    NviDia Geforce 4600 (AGP)
    64MB DDR Ram

I'm having a similar problem. My WebCam Instant didn't intall ANY shortcuts. The driver is up to date and installed and the device is recognized BUT I CAN'T USE THE DARN THING. Working on it though ... will post again in -3 weeks.

  • WebCam Plus / Software Hanging

    Hi,
I have a Creative WebCam Plus running on an XP system. I have installed the latest software that is available with this unit, and the update I found at creative.com, but everytime I open the software, it hangs. The window freezes and the application never even opens. The camera is connected via USB cable that I know is good because the camera shows up fine and as working properly in device manager.
Has anyone else had crazy hang-up software issues like this?
I recently formatted and reinstalled XP on this system, and had the same WebCam Plus with the same software running the same system just fine.
    I am out of ideas.
If anyone has any advice on how to correct this, it would be welcomed. Thanks.
    DGM

Hi, I am experiencing exactly the same problem. The webcam plus (CT6840) doesn't work on WinXP, even though it works all right even in Win2K virtual machine on the same hardware. I tried all the same tricks to no avail.
I have the same problem with this camera (posted here http://forums.creative.com/creativel...message.id=532). I have tried everything I can think of but to no avail. Can anyone help?

I use group texting a lot.  It has stopped working on my iphone 5.  This is the 4th time is has happend.   Twice I've had to restore my phone and twice the situation resolved itself.  I was told that it was a software issue.  Has anyone else had this problem?

What happens when you try to send a group message? Any errors?
Has a reset or restart of the device been tried?
What version of iOS on the device?

  • Having software issues, MBP mid 2012 won't boot

I recently had my MBP fail to boot, it would only load to a flashing folder with a question mark on it. I've had many suggestions as to what could be causing it, and so far I've disproven a couple. It isn't an issue with the hard drive, as I've run the extensive hardware test and everything checked out fine. Also, I took it in to geek squad since I had a membership with them and they also said the hardware was fine. They checked the SATA interface wire and it also checked out okay. They said that it was a software issue that was unavoidable, so they backed up my hard drive, wiped it clean, did something that they call "removing excess security titles," put the data back on my laptop and gave it back. It worked fine for all of 6 hours (6 total, only 1 hour of use) and then crashed again. The blinking "?" folder appeared again. Also, when I boot with the option key held, or command + R and then enter disk utility, my hard drive still does not appear in the startup manager or the disk utility window that usually lists hard drives found. "Macintosh HD" does not appear anywhere, and neither does "Recovery HD". The only drive I can get to show up is my external drive that I use for time machine. this means that I cannot select the drive (Macintosh HD) that I wish to place my time machine backup onto. Please let me know if anyone else has had this issue, and let me know if there are any suggestions on how to resolve this issue (preferred without taking it to apple store, dont have any near me.) Thanks in advance.
I posted a related question yesterday, so if you would like some more background info on the matter, you can read this one as well.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/26090958#26090958

Resolved this issue myself, and have decided to never trust Geek Suqad with any of my tech again. The issue was simply a faulty SATA cable. I didnt buy an external enclosure, but I did get a friend to let me pop the hood on his MBP and swap SATA's for a couple minutes. It booted perfectly to my desktop without any lag.
Reasons why Geek Squad will never see me again...
    1. They charged me $80 for a data backup when I could have easily done that myself at home.
    2. They misdiagnosed my problem as a "software issue." Gave it back and issue wasnt fixed.
    3. Took it back in and they misdiagnosed it again. Since they determind the HDD was fine, they automatically      assumed it was the logic board and wanted to charge me $500-$600 on the spot to ship it to repair facilities and      have it fixed.
    4. A 19 year old kid equipped with Google and Youtube (me) was able to diagnose, confirm, and repair something      in 1.5 hours that they couldnt even correctly diagnose in 4 days of working on it.
5.That "removed excess security titles" thing I mentioned... Yeah all they did was go into my applications and      delete one of my antivirus apps and my battery health app. They said that sometimes viral protection apps can      compete with one another and cause damage. That makes absolutely no sense to me!!
Needless to say, NEVER trust your computers with Geek Squad. They can't even correctly diagnose a faulty WIRE.
Lesson Learned: Always take Apple products to Apple technicians regardless of discounts elsewhere.
