Does the camera show up in device manager? If it does, try uninstalling the driver first before you install the driver again. You can also try using yawcam, I hear it works.

I recently bought a T431s laptop and I love it. Recently, however, the webcam has not been working correctly. In the past it worked fine, but now whenever I try to open it, the screen is gray and has a crossed-out camera logo. The green light still comes on, and the information on the computer says it's working. I researched this both on and off the Lenovo website, and the only suggestion I found was to type Fn+Esc. Unfortunately, on my laptop this only enables FnLk.
If someone could please help me figure out how to make my webcam act normal again, that would be great. Thanks!Any help from this solved thread?

Hey guys,
I have a friend thats having a strange issue with the HP G60-530CA notebook.
It has a built in webcam but when she goes on cam to me, she said we're both red but its an issue that only occurs sometimes although it has got worse. Im not sure wether its a driver issue, hardware issue or what but I would appreciate some help as its annoying for her.
Thanks a lot,
xSmashx"So I replaced the hard drive, and it said it passed the inspection this time. But when I went to boot, it didnt want to. It said "Insert Boot Media and press any key".
A new hard drive is blank, there is nothing on it, so this is normal, did you make the HP recovery disc set? If you did you can put that new hard drive back in and then boot off of the first recovery disc to start the recovery process.
Or do as suggested and take it to a HP service center to get it repaired under warranty if you have one. -
Compaq CQ58-331SA / Webcam issue
Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble with my HP Truevision HD webcam. After a few updates from HP a couple of days ago, my webcam stopped being detected by all kinds of video software. When I open Device Manager though, it does appear but there is a yellow "attention" sign with a "!" next to it. When I double-click it, an error message appears: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".
I have tried restoring my laptop to a previous date but the restoration failed both times I tried. In Device Manager, I tried "Updating Driver Software", "Disabling", "Uninstalling", "Scanning for Hardware Changes" but none of those worked. There is still this yellow "attention" sign and this error message.
Can anybody sort this out for me, please? I'm going mad! ThanksThe hard drive has likely failed and will have to be replaced. A fairly easy job to do and not very expensive. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not-just get a retail hdd of at least as large a capacity as the original 500GB in order to use Recovery Discs to install your OS and software.
Your "Maintenance & Service Guide" will help in replacing it:

I have a DV2270US, and I can't get the integrated webcam to work. I tried to uninstall it and that failed, so I attempted to do it manually by removing the program folder, removing registry keys, etc. Now everytime I try to run the installer, I get an error saying setup initialization has failed.
Everyone keeps telling me to use CCleaner to uninstall it, but according to CCleaner, it doesn't even exist on my computer. So...what do I do?
I've gone as far as ripping the installer itself apart and playing with things in the included programs, ini, and batch files, but to no avail. That's not an option, I don't *have* any restore points.
I'd like to note that I"ve been having this problem for the last 3 months, and only began going crazy trying to fix it in the last week. I initially assumed it was due to all the work I was doing with codecs, but after returning to the original setup, I'm sure that's not the issue.
If you mean using the system disc, also not an option. I never recieved a system disc, and I can't afford to purchase one. -
Hello, I have a typical problem with my lenovo thinkpad T420i. I have my settings done properly and i have also tried uninstalling and installing the latest drivers but it webcam is not working properly. Can you please help me to fix it?
Hi Anand,
Thank you for the reply!
It is very sad to hear that your Web-camera is not working properly after updating the drivers. Please check if you are getting any LED indication when you switch on the camera, also check if there is any sticker is fixed on the camere or with any dust. If the issue still persists then this could be issue with hardware and I suggest you to contact customer support for further assistance.
Please click the below link to get the details of contact center, I am sure they will assist you further on the issue you are facing in your system.

Lion, UVC (universal video class) webcam issues
Prior to LION upgrade and then a clean install, I find the MS HD5000 and the MS HD6000 UVC compliant webcams are very over exposed. This was NOT a problem prior to the LION OS. Anyone find a work around or is experiencing this issue with LION? Using IGlasses helps, but he picutre is not what it was under Snow Leopard. Obviously something in LION has changed how the UVC is handled. Any help on this one would be appreciated!

So I am assuming all went well and that is the appropriate module for my webcam. However still no devices found in Skype. Maybe it is skype that needs some tweaking for it to recognize webcams.

HP TouchSmart 520-1047c Webcam Issue
My webcam has gone MIA. My Chrome Hangouts tries to launch and place a video call and reports it could not access my video camera.
The Camera HP High Definition 1 MP shows in the imaging devices of my Device Manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the device there it is using the latest Microsoft USB Camera video drivers.
I went to the Touch Smart Webcam application and launched it from there and particle reported several missing files that it uses for special effects. That didn't stop the camera from coming up and working OK.
I then went to the HP website and followed their webcam troubleshooting guide. It reccomends that you reinstall the webcam software using the Recovery Manager. So I deleted the existing Touchsmart Webcam software package from the Programs and Features Contro panel app launched Recovery Manager and Selecte HP Webcam software to be reinstalled. The install seemed to fo well no errors were reported. My problem is I now can't find the TouchSmart Webcam softare application to launch the webcam. Recovery Manger thinks it is installed as it asks be to uninstall it if I try amd reinstall it.
How do I find where the PC installed the software. Ir is not in Program Files(x86)/Hewlett-Pacard/Touchsmart where all the other TouchSmart aps are located.
Any ideas where I can find this or force the recovery manager to install it again?
Thanks in advance...

HP Pavilion DV6 Webcam Issue.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6033cl with Windows 7 64 bit installed.
I have an issue with my webcam, it appears to turn on randomly every now and then.
Not longer than a week ago I thought this may have been a virus and I deleted my entire hard drive and installed Windows on the empty partition.
The webcam light just keeps turning on, I have no current software that uses it and i've only had windows reinstalled for about a week, I have a couple of virus protectors and nothing seems to make the webcam light stop until I restart the computer.
Any help would be much appreciated.Hi David:

Webcam Issues with Mac OSX 10.5.6
Hi All
Hope you can help here. When I set up my new Mac Mini (10.5.6) All went OK with my Logitech Quickcam pro USB Web Camera. Then after using a website that had a webcam flash control - it stopped working.
I tried installing maccam - all worked - but the image quality is poor, then I tried the IOXPERS driver - quality was good - but I dont want to pay 20 bucks for something that should work with OSX native (it did!!)
Any ideas how I can resolve this issue? Im pulling my hair out!
Cheers

Im sure its some sort of driver issue or something wrong hanging around in the Library directory!

G505 DVD/CD Drive and Webcam issues.
Hello.
I have a G505 Lenovo Laptop with the Windows 8.1 Update and I have been ahving issues with the DVD/CD drive, and more recently the Webcam.
The DVD/CD drive doesn't seem to be recognized by the computer despite it coming with the computer I bought. I originally thought it was a faulty connection, but after taking it out, cleaning it and putting it back in the problem persisted. I was told that maybe a program was not letting the drive work, but I have several programs that can detect a disk when instereted so now I don't know what the problem is.
More recently, my internal webcam has stopped working. The light next to the webcam usually comes on at start-up, but now it doesn't even do that. I try going on skype or using the camera app, but all I get is a "Connect a camera to get started". I tried download the camera driver for Windows 8.1 on the Drivers & Downloads page, but everytime I try installing it it says that there is no driver to install.
I also checked the Device Manager to see if maybe the drivers were not installed, but the CD/DVD section doesn't even appear! Under the "Audio, video, and game controllers", only Audio and game controllers appear (Unless that is not the right section).
Does anyone know what's going on? I could really use some helpI had the same problem with the cd not working and i downloaded something that fixed it but i can not remember what.
Now it is bad aagain.

Toshiba L655-S5096 webcam issues
So I tried to use my webcam on skype today and I noticed it wasn't working. I would try to connect and the webcam would turn on for a split second then short out (what I mean is that the blue light would flash a couple time then fade out). So I uninstalled the drivers totally and did a reinstall of them and restarted my laptop. NOw when i try to open just the camera it either does the same thing or I get a pop up notification that the installation failed. Any one have an idea how to fix this issue?
Is this what you already reinstalled? If not, try that. I've also heard of Skype causing problems. Try uninstalling Skype and then reinstalling it.
You could also try using System Restore to restore a previous restore point from before this became an issue.
System Restore - Windows 7
- Peter -
webcam is not functioning. when i press fn+esc it say no camera installed. the cam drivers are already been installed so many times and bios is been updated already. i often get a message in the taskbar that one of the USB device attached to this computer has malfunction and couldn't be installed.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi
Please try uninstalling the camera drivers and all USB drivers
Update Bios first then reinstall camera and USB drivers
In case it is not resolving the issue please recovery your system using OKR function
Hope This Helps
Cheers!!!

Mac Mini WebCam Issues. Need Help.
I have a mini i7 with a Logitech HD Pro webcam. The person at the other end gets a bad echo of themselves when video chatting. The issue is on my side, not theirs. Tried face time and google talk. Even tried two different web cams. My wife's iMac has a check box to "use ambient noise reduction" my mac mini doesn't have that option. How can I fix this. Surly there are mac mini owners using webcams?
When I use the cam with it's built in mic the person at the other end gets really bad echos. Apparently no ambient noise reduction check box on a mini.
So I buy a Logitech USB mic and that took care of the echo but even with the input volume cranked the person at the other end can barley hear me unless I use the mic like you're drinking out of a straw.
Why is this so **** hard??
