Webcam Mic doesnt work

I have a logitech webcam model V-UM14. Its hard to find info on the net about this model, i dont know if anyone knows anything about it.
It has a built in mic....but when i try to use skype i can only use one at a time, either the camera or the mic....not both simeotaneously. It worked fine on my pc, but i converted to mac recently with os 10.4.6

I have seen a thread where James A. Weston replied to a similar question and made comments that the Skype application has trouble with the in-built mic of an external iSight.
This may be a related problem.

HP Pavilion Notebook Webcam/Mic not working

Hello! I have an HP Pavilion laptop.
Product Number: E8B92UA#ABA
Recently I've been having an issue with my internal webcam and microphone. Sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn't. I've done all cookie cutter quick fixes, reinstalling drivers, refreshing pc, system restart, etc etc. Nothing works. I read that it could be a hardware issue and to move the screen back and forth to see if that affected the webcam/mic's ability to work. Sure enough, moving my screen would sometimes trigger them either on or off.
Now they won't turn on at all.
At all.
I'm very frustrated at this point. My spouse and I are currently in yet another long-term long-distance relationship and it's pretty much imperative that these two things work. I'd rather not have to buy an external webcam/mic.
I have seen a lot of posts and tutorials regarding the Pavilion DV7 and how to plug the webcam back in beneath the screen. I have opened the screen on mine to see if there are any noticeable issues or things out of place, but mine looks completely different from what I've seen in those tutorials.

Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums.
Based on what you have shown on your post and as well what you have done it looks as if you may have an actual cable issue. Even if you look at the unit itself and things look ok the cable or the connector at the motherboard may have an issue. Here is a link to the notebooks maintenance manual.

You may be able to source the problem at the motherboard side where the connector has come loose. If not you would want to replace the cable for the webcam connection. If all else fails HP phone support can set up a repair for this issue.

Why Mic doesnt work!!!??

I'm new on this forum but I have a problem. Suddenly my Ipod touch 4g mic stoped working. It was working fine a couple of days ago!!! I recorded a video today and I noticed that I couldn't hear anything. I mean.. It works but the volume its too low!!! Do you have any ideas on how to fix this???

Mic doesnt work

Mic doesn't work on IPOD touch 4th generation 32 gig. Voice recordings and video does not play back any sound. downloaded songs and older video and sound clips still play back with sound. Any suggestions..........

In the Voice Memos apps, do yu seea repsonse on the VU meter?
I would try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still a problem you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

[SOLVED] USB webcam mic not working in Skype after pulseaudio install

I've followed the advice in the wikis

but it's still not working. Hoping someone can help me troubleshoot. I did a test video using guvcview and the mic worked fine and the video had audio.
Solution:
Uninstalled pulseaudio
Installed apulse from AUR
Created and edited ~/.asoundrc as per https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Al … ure_device
Invoke skype:
$ apulse skype

Do you have pulseaudio installed or not? both of the solutions you posted are intended to be used if one doesn't want to use pulseaudio and both aren't necessary if you are actually using pulseaudio.

Audigy ZS mic doesnt work from case port but does from card po

first off i have connected the ground L and R input and mic into the pins on the card.im still questioning if the mic pot is in right tho. but the audio works.
ok when i connect my mic to the case mic port i dont get anything but i do get it when i connect it directly into the card.

the the mic pin is connected to pin 6 do i need to connect anything else like mic bias? what ever that is.

People Cannot Hear Me When I make Calls on iPhone 4, Bought a new iPhone 4, uploaded all of my own information from the backup, and it still doesnt work, help!

I went in to apple, they couldnt figure it out, I am on AT&T so I was figuring on going into their store today and seeing if its something with the network, if not I am going back to apple, but this is literally a brand new phone i bought yesterday, not refurbished or anything, brand new, does anyone know why this isnt working? Everything else works fine, the mics both work, its just when I make calls or someone calls me the mic doesnt work.

When you see the same issue on more than one hardware device, it means that the problem is likely to exist outside of the hardware. Two things to investigate would be the software/firmware on the backup and issues with the cellular network. It's probably safe to rule out the cellular network as well.
First, make sure that you have imported copies of all the information (pictures, videos, documents) on the device. Do this thorough itunes, and the applications (photographic and document processing) on your computer. Perform a firmware update then restore the device as new. If the problem persists, then you may actually have the worst luck and discovered two devices with an identical issue.
Read each of the steps before initiating the DFU.
!. Connect the iPhone to any computer running a fully updated version of iTunes.
2. Press and hold both "home" and "sleep/wake" buttons
3. After eight seconds let go of only the sleep/wake button.
4. Keep holding the home button until you see a popup mesage in iTunes.
5. Read all all the popups, then use iTunes to update the iPhone's software.
If the popup fails to show, repeat steps 2 through 4

The cable to my integrated webcam/mic broke

I posted a problem about my integrated webcam/mic not working a few months ago. I was looking for the manul so i could take it apart and look at the cable to make sure it was pluged in. I didn't have time to do this until today. When i did I found that one of the wires (the black one) that connect the webcam/mic were broken, I'm guessing this got broken when my fan was relpaced. I am wondering what this wire/connection is called and if it would be cheaper to buy a new one and install it or if I should just buy an external mic and webcam? Creative WebCam Vista Plus on USB PCI Card (VIA VT 6212) on Windows ME - doesnt work !!

PC turns off when the Vista Plus WebCam is connected to the USB port on my USB PCI Card
I use a primitive Intel Celeron 300Mhz processor with 64MB RAM on an Intel 440BX-AT Chipset running on Window ME. I recently installed a USB PCI Card (based on the VIA VT 622 chipset) which is a 394/USB 2.0 Combo. The problem is my 'Creative WebCam Vista Plus' doesnt work with it.
After I had installed the drivers on the 'Creative WebCam Vista Plus' CD - that is - without connecting the webcam to my USB PCI card the installation asks me to connect the webcam to the USB port and When I do that the PC just GOES OFF !
It starts up only in SAFE MODE and each time I've got to restore my PC.
How do I get the WebCam connected to my PC ?

9hours later and Ive given up. I cant get the Vista 64 Ultimate to work with the Audigy 2Nx usb sound card. Im very angry and very frustrated (not to mention very tired from the 2 late nights Ive spent trying to work it out). Im not a PC-noob, but am only 4days into my Vista ownership................... Im guessing now, after much research, that there will never be a driver that gets these units to work with Vista 64bit. thats pretty weak Creative. However, I dont want to use crappy onboard sound for my gaming.What is the suggestion?Should I be looking at returning this unit, and buying either the X-Fi Xtremegamer?Fatality Pro as?a highend device, or the X-Fi Xtremegamer for $00 less? Or should I be looking at another manufacturer. Would either of these x-fi gamers work with Vista 64bit Ultimate?suggestions please?

What system do you have? As Im no mistaken the Satellite C850-A797 was preinstalled with Windows 7 64bit.
The webcam drivers as well as other drivers for Satellite C850 series can be downloaded here:

I actually downloaded the webcam driver for the above page and it worked properly.

To reset PRAM, you must follow Ralph's suggestion to use thecommand key ( ⌘ ) rather than the control key you used in your original post.
You will also need the option key. The option key is labeled "alt option" on my keyboard , but some keyboards label the same key " ⌥ " as shown in the picture Ralph posted above.
Because you have had trouble resetting PRAM, try these steps in order:
(1) *Shut down* your Mac mini. (Do not merely restart.)
(2) Press and hold the the ⌘, ⌥ , P, and R keys. All four keys must be held down simultaneously.
(3) Press and release the button that starts your mini _while continuing to hold down all four keys_. If you need more hands, ask someone to help you, but do not release any of the four keys yet.
(4) Continue to hold down the four keys while your mini starts. You should hear the first chime within two minutes. (The time is approximate.)
(5) Continue holding the four keys. You should hear the second chime within another minute.
(6) Continue holding the four keys. You should hear the third chime within another minute.
(7) Release the four keys. PRAM reset will be complete when your mini finishes its start-up.
If this procedure does not work, there is something wrong with your system.
We will watch for your status update. Unless you can report success, we will try to offer more specific suggestions based on the details in your response.

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with camera on your ThinPad E531.
Have you check if the driver is installed properly from device manager, if installed check if it is enabled from setting.
Press Windows + C to enter the charms bar and go to PC setting select privacy and go to Web-camera option and check if it switches ON.
Check with this option and let us know the findings.

Satellite A300D-15B - Webcam won't work after Windows 7 upgrade

My webcam doesnt work after Windows 7 upgrade. I have installed the drivers but still having no luck

The webcam is listed in device manager under the Imaging devices
There you should see USB Video Device.
If its not listed there, then I think that the device malfunctions or its disconnected.
The webcam is an usb device and its connected to USB controller.
I read in different threads that in some cases the cable could be loose and therefore the webcam would not be listed in device manager.
I such case the display lid needs to be disassembled and the cables should be checked.
In my opinion its a job for an technician.
